Lao Xi Noodle House
921 S Baldwin Ave Ste G-H, Arcadia, CA 91007, United States
Cindys Noodle Land is the latest restaurant to take over this constantly-changing restaurant rotation of 921 South Baldwin Ave. I feel like I have watched 8-10 restaurants set up and close down within a few months, so Im hoping Cindys will actually succeed.I was made aware of Cindys Noodle Land after reading James L.s review. Apparently its the sister restaurant of Liangs Kitchen, but the menu displays Liangs Kitchen under the Monterey Park address and Cindys Noodle Land under the Arcadia address. While the restaurant is called noodle land, they have an assortment of other items such as soup, meat dishes, stir-fried dishes, rice dishes, bento rice dishes, cold dishes, as well as buns. I saw a ton of customers ordering different buns - they were actually decently sized and looked pretty good as they came out of the kitchen!Of course I had to try their stewed beef and tendon noodle soup with thick noodles ($8.95). The soup flavors were pretty bold and tasty, but I felt like it was missing the pickled vegetables that other places willingly offer. There were maybe about 2-3 slices of the pickled vegetables inside, which was kind of disappointing, but the soup was tasty and flavorful and hit the spot on a cold night. There was a good amount of beef and tendon inside that bowl of soup as well. The meat was so tender and soft - and I felt like they gave me a ton. And my friend is vegetarian, so he wanted none of my dish. But the best thing about this dish was definitely the thick-cut noodles. I think they make the noodles by hand as the noodle gets thick and thin, etc. Super al dente and even though there werent that many strands of noodles, each strand was super long that I was already stuffed after eating several bites. With the addition of more vegetables and pickled vegetables, this dish would be perfect. My friend ordered the tomato braised egg hand-made noodle ($7.95) after making sure it was vegetarian. The noodles were the same thick-cut noodles as my beef noodle soup, and there was a good amount of cucumber strands, egg, tomato, etc. that gave the noodles that strong tomato-y flavor. I thought it tasted pretty good, but Im not the biggest fan of dry noodles; however, the slightly tangy taste of the tomato and the chewiness of the noodles really made for a solid dish. And since everybody raves about the cold-dishes, we got the three item combo for around $8. Its definitely worth it as they piled on a ton of seaweed onto the plate. I was a bit disappointed that the pig ear was all sold out, but the seaweed, bamboo shoots, and tofu strings were all really tasty. Even though the bamboo and seaweed were a little spicy, they both tasted really good - a great appetizer dish before the main dishes.I was pretty stuffed by the end of the meal, and I still had enough to take home for leftovers. Restaurant is pretty decently sized with booths around the restaurant and several tables scattered in the middle. Food comes out of the kitchen fairly quickly. Lots of parking in the back as well as street parking.tl;dr - If youre looking for a new place to try, definitely check out Cindys Noodle Land. Seems like theyre pretty busy these days, so you might have to wait for a table. They also close fairly early. Credit cards accepted on transactions over $25 only. I would recommend their thick-cut beef noodle soup! Prices are reasonable as well. Service was a miss, but we were in and out pretty quickly. I would come back again to try some other dishes.

Noodle St Arcadia
400 S Baldwin Ave Ste M10, Arcadia, CA 91007, United States
The love the Chinese have for noodles is perhaps only rivalled by the Italian’s love for pizza. There must be at least 100’s of different varieties of noodles in China catering to different regions throughout the country. In Beijing alone, there are so many different kinds of noodle dishes in the city, from the traditional Beijing noodles with soy bean paste to braised noodles with cowpea, to the scallion noodles from southern China, and ramen from Japan. Here at Noodle St. in Arcadia, you can sample some of those norther region noodles made with hand pulled. This restaurant mimics the Beijing street food noodles. You can order from four different types of in House made noodles including hand pulled regular round noodle, flat noodle, knife cut noodle and triangle noodles. To go with the noodles, you can choose different toppings. The special beef round noodle is everyone’s favorite. The beef is tender and flavorful and the broth tasted amazing.I love their knife cut noodles with egg and tomato. When I was on assignment working in Beijing, I would have one bowl of this kind of noodle at least twice a week at the food court in our office building, just didn’t seemed to have enough of them.Other items like scallion pancake, beef rolls, and lamb skewers are excellent. The service is amazing here. Our server kept coming back to our table to make sure our needs were all taking care of. They were very friendly.Highly recommend this place. If you don’t want to wait in a long line next door at Din Tai Fung, you can definitely give this place a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Best beef noodle soup I’ve ever had. They give huge portions. Beef roll is off the hook too. Nice service compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area.

88 Beef Noodle
1045 S Baldwin Ave, Arcadia, CA 91007, United States
This is my favorite traditional Taiwanese beef noodle in the area - my favorite interpretation goes to Mandarin Deli but for a traditional hot bowl of good broth, noodles, and beef? 88 all the way.Getting here:Easily seen from Baldwin Ave, 88 Beef Noodle is in its own small building in a parking lot shared with others. There are a few 30-minute spots right in front for easy pick up but usually we can wrangle a spot elsewhere.Ambiance:The owner lady is usually around or maybe chilling at a table, and she greets and seats you immediately - usually no wait! Tables and seats fairly starkly modern, a counter area for take-out pickups on your right and glass all around; tables stocked with sauces and utensils. Pretty straightforward spot and not particularly romantic or anything.Food/Drink:88 Noodle delivers on comfort food thats well-seasoned and with good portions.Beef Noodle Soup: The #4 spicy half beef half tendon noodle soup is my usual order; greens, a scattering of green onions on top, and a deep and savory broth with noodles (very Q/toothsome/springy) and soft tendons and very meaty flavored beef chunks. Not served with pickled veggies but it doesnt need it - I love strong flavors and this soup is wonderful. Price is higher than competitors but with the quality and quantity of beef and noodles, I think worth it.The watermelon drink is very refreshing during hot summers (I believe they do not have A/C and leave the door open for a breeze for hot days).Shoutout to the hot pot too! We tried Pickled Hot Pot which is made with pickled veggies - we missed this traditional taste from Taiwan and wanted to see how they made it. Oh man. The lady comes by with a covered metal bowl with a flame underneath, and boom that nostalgic scent of pickled veggies - and the broth is STRONG and SOUR which is unabashedly what we were looking for. Excellent Excellent. Even with all of the toppings, that level of flavor makes sure every bite is still worth savoring without your palate tiring of it.So far anything weve ordered has been excellent. Oxtail noodles - great, with similar strong depth of flavor. Fried noodles (#8)? Lots of toppings and seasoned well. Fried rice (#17)? Same deal.Service:The owner lady is friendly - as with many local/hole in the wall type eateries its pretty relaxed here and you dont feel rushed. The first time we came here we were slightly amused at how she loudly announced our orders to the kitchen - just part of the experience :) will be coming back as usual, again and again.

Five Five Noodles
838 S Baldwin Ave, Arcadia, CA 91007, United States
Came to this place with my wife for lunch today, we ordered the Crabmeat Tomato Basil Soup (Bun Rieu) and Special Beef Noodle Soup (Pho Dac Biet). Both soup base taste bland, the Beef Noodle Soup has no beef flavor, it has the chicken flavor instead. The Crabmeat Tomato soup has no flavor at all. They only give the bean spouts and couple slice of jalepeno. When I ask the waitress for some basil leaves and vegetables that supposedly come with the shoup and she said they dont have any and rudely pointed to my tomato saying that the vegetable.Very disappointed experience. There is better options close by.

Good fast Chinese food restaurant. Their chicken soup noodle is special. They even have Shandong chicken 山东扒鸡, which I have never seen in US before. Their lamp soup noodle also is a good choice. 这边的pepper sauce辣椒酱和咸菜都还不错,咸菜有点像东北的老虎菜。Pay attention that it is a cash only store.

Love the shirts they have!! “Send Noods.” Come for their signature LAN noodle... especially if youre used to eating typical beef noodle soups. This will taste slightly different and still satisfy your cravings.Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 -Signature LAN with wide flat noodles at medium spice. Pretty good with a kick and the beef slices cooked just right. The cube pieces of meat were a bit dry though. Flat noodles didn't absorb the broth as well so wouldn't recommend.Lanzhou street noodle with the triangle shape noodle at medium spicy. The peanut butter came through really strong and the flavored peas adds some nice texture. This is definitely a more acquired taste. The triangle shape noodles absorb more taste so it was great.Chicken gizzard (cold appetizer) had too much five spices on top that covered the taste of the gizzards itself. The spices make the texture chalkyAmbience: 3/5 - bright clean shop with description of the different types of noodles on the wall. The audio from the TV was poor quality and doesn't quite fit in with the feel of the shop. They didnt have stand alone speakers so the music would peak alot. There were chairs piled up in the corner as you walked in that felt cluttered. Much kudos to the lad pulling and making noodles the entire time. As the shop got busier, he was cooking and organizing the noodle orders too. Very interesting to just watch him make the different shape of noodles. He did not touch his face even once while we were there. Very professional.Service: 5/5 - polite and very quick service. Will ask (if applicable) spice level and noodle type. Think they speak Mandarin mostly but we were able to order in English with no issuesValue for price: 4/5 - nice to see fresh made noodles from scratch and can understand why it's more expensive. While wouldn't come here all the time, definitely worth a try at least!

lao xi noodle house

Every time Im in LA, I make it a point to come here despite the long drive. It says a lot when I tell people here in San Francisco that the best noodle house in our state is 6.5hrs away. My mom argued with me until she tried some of the frozen dumplings I brought up and steamed for her, and shes from Asia: shes super critical of other peoples hand made dumplings. She hasnt argued about it since and will ask if I have any (we go to LA sporadically) to eat when she visits. We decided to try this tpla e after Worth It on youtube featured it and my brother immediately made it a goal to eat here from how delicious it looked, and we havent looked back since. The cat ear noodles in stir fry sauce, the black spaghetti (jajiangmien), and the wife special noodles are all delicious, with particular emphasis on the cat ear noodles. My brother always asks for me to pick up a large frozen bag of the pork and cilantro dumplings, as those are the cheapest-best flavored hand-made dumpling to price ratio anywhere. Do yourself a huge favor, grab two or more friends, and take a trip out to try the wife special noodles to get a good sample of each sauce (XO sauce, tomato, and jajiangmien sauce) and to try it all mixed, pork and cilantro dumplings, and cat ear noodles. Why two friends? The portions are generous and the noodles are filling. The dumplings are supple and do not need sauce, though the wrapping of the dumplings can use it if you want. The prices are fair (8-13/dish) and the portions leave you full for a long while. The husband/wife duo that runs this place recently opened another location due to their success, and its unsurprising, given how kind, attentive and modest they are. I need to figure out if they are willing to ship their dumplings...

This place was recommended by some Chinese foodie group and I decided to check it out since people were suggesting it. Well, food is affordable thats for sure. But heres the breakdown. It looks like the restaurant may be still in soft opening stage? There were boxes and stocks everywhere, that leads me to think theyre not quite ready for opening? With that said atmosphere and ambience is near hit a it seems more mom and pop shop.Service was good. Staff was friendly and helpful. But then again, we were the only customer ?My friend order the braised beef combo rice (牛腩飯). Its a tad on the sweeter side but tasty. Beef was very tender and not chewy, the tendon was well cooked but still got a bounce. Thats some talent.I ordered the crispy duck which was a miss. The duck was dry, way too salty. But then again I like the Peking or HK style roast duck with moist tender meat, a bit of fat and crispy skin. This crispy duck felt like an old leftover duck thats been deep fried to be refreshed for service.I also ordered the pan fried bun (生煎包). Thats just say you pay for what you get. It looks fine but its doughy, meat is dry, no juice flows out when you bite into it. I was given a very little vinegar, which is ok as I have a giant bottle stocked at home.Overall, braised beef rice is good. But Im not a fan of the crispy duck nor the pan fried bun. If Im in the neighborhood, I would only return if I were to crave for the braised beef rice. But then again, Ive had amazing braised beef elsewhere.

I have been wanting to try this hotpot place and finally got to go this weekend. I came around 12pm and there wasnt a wait to get your table. The employee first assigns you a table and then you can grab a bowl and start choosing your hotpot ingredients. They have lots of options for vegetables, meat, and other hotpot toppings. I would say their noodle options are a bit lacking though. They have beef, lamb, and seafood options. A lot of Asian vegetables and others like mushrooms, baby corn, etc. After choosing, you give it to the employee to weigh and choose your soup. After that, they give you a key tag with your bowl number. You can also order their drinks and other side dishes here. I got the tomato broth since it is the only non-spicy broth and I wasnt sure how mild their mild is. I also ordered the brown sugar rice cake ($6.5).Then you walk inside and find your table and make your sauce as the sauce station. They have plenty of tables and the seating area is designed nicely and atmosphere is comfortable. The food was ready in less than 10 minutes. The broth tasted a lot like tomatoes and wasnt super special. The ingredients I chose were cooked well and did taste alright. I cant tell if the beef slices is good quality but it was quite fatty. And the brown sugar rice cakes were pretty good, not too sweet and fried nicely.I would consider coming back another time with other family to try another broth and see if that was better. I do like their hotpot system where you pay by weight so you pay for exactly how much you can finish and what it weighs. Their service is also pretty good, employees are friendly with good attitude.
