Northern Cafe El Segundo
700 S Allied Way ste a, El Segundo, CA 90245, United States
There arent that many authentic (Panda Express doesnt count, but they are still pretty good) Chinese restaurant within 4 miles from where I live until I saw Northern Cafe had just opened a new branch in El Segundo, I didnt think about it and just decided to have my dinner there. The place has pleasant lighting, it is spacious and also very cozy. Customer service are great! Bathroom was also clean. Now, lets get started with what you all came here to read, the food (duh~!) ?- Chicken Wings ?: These are great, crispy, juicy, seasoning was spot on, I wish I had ordered more of this. Honestly, I would be content with just a bowl of white rice and 2 orders of these awesome wings!- Szechuan Dan Dan Noodle?: It can be a little spicy (think Killer noodle) for some of you. But I promise, if you persevere long enough with Chinese spicy food, it would open your world to endless variations of Chinese dishes (Yes, I am bribing you!) ?.- Boiling point-ish: Not bad, but nothing to rave about. Not to mention they dont actually give you fire for this, so your food would get cold very quickly.Spicy Beef?️?: This is probably my favorite dish of the day. Juicy, tender chewy and has that authentic Szechuan spice flavor to it! I highly recommend this if you can take spice!White Garlic Broccoli ??: The broccoli are really fresh but I think they are a little too salty for my taste. The pricing was reasonable and they are open till 9, which is great. Overall I would recommend this restaurant if you live near El Segundo and dont want to drive to Gardena for Chinese food. ??

Very disappointed in the manager's handling in both service and issues with food during my last night's visit with my family.Service:The restaurant was not very busy as there were many empty tables around us, but the one server covering approx 4 tables seemed to be overwhelmed. It took 25 minutes to get waters and she would disappear for 5-10 minutes at a time many times during the evening. The 3 other tables around us were having all sorts of issues as well and appeared very frustrated when our server went missing, one of them mentioned something to what I thought was the manager, but actually a hostess. Later, after we got our food, I had to look for the manager after noticing our server wasn't getting any assistance and the service was still the same. When I mentioned the poor service and issues with the food to the manager, she said she would take care of it. She didn't seem too thrilled when I asked her why she hasn't been to our side to check on anyone. There was a surge of food runner support for a few minutes, then it went back to how it was before talking to the manager. The manager never came to ask about the issues i had with the food and avoided our side of the restaurant the rest of the night, which is why I'm even bothering writing this.Food:The “Super Food bowl” was extremely soggy and tasteless. The “bok choy and mushrooms” was overpriced for what you get and partially undercooked because they were much larger bottoms and NOT what is shown on the website. Our party of 8 went there for the Dim Sum, but after waiting over 30 minutes to just put our order in, we opted out after being told it would be at least another 25 minutes for an order of dim sum. The meats in both the chicken and pork chow fun bowls were overcooked and tough. Also, they were out of 4 of the 5 specialty teas listed on the menu, which was odd. The Sushi rolls were actually pretty good and would recommend them.

We went here for dinner as it was the closest place to us, and we wanted to try.Upon entering we were greeted and seated in a very friendly manner. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy, incredibly authentic. We ordered the Japanese Potato Curry, Chirashi Bowl, Yellowtail Maki, and a Bento Box. Along with green tea.It took a bit to get our food, but it was worth it.All were delicious and incredibly flavorful. The sushi was fresh and wonderfully prepared. The decorstion was lovely as well. The curry was perfectly flavored, but not too much. The tempura was amazing and not too fried. All rolls were delicious. We truly enjoyed our time here and couldnt reccomend it more. The entire experience was amazing!

First time here.we had their lunch specials. Comes with a choice of an excellent Egg Drop soup or an equally excellent Hot and Sour soup. The special also comes with a fresh Egg Roll and Wonton and a deceptively good dressed lettuce salad. You also get a choice of Fried or Steamed Rice. There are 18 choices for the lunch special so there is something for everyone. We got the Yu HSIANG pork which is listed as spicy but it isnt overly so. Very hearty with lots of vegetables in addition to the tender pork. The wife got Moo Goo Gai Pan, which was loaded with chicken and mushrooms. Very, very good! Both lunches were cooked to order so they came out hot and fresh tasting. Service was friendly and attentive and the restaurant was spotless. With two beverages our total came out to $29 even (after tax but before tip.) Plus we both took enough home for dinner! Definitely coming back for the Peking Duck and Macau Roasted Pork!

Great easy lunch spot. Didnt know this was here after coming from the beach. I got a combo (#80) which was plenty filling and allowed me to have a bunch of different stuff. Everything I tried was good, especially the tempura. And it had a sushi roll that was pretty good even though it wasnt one of the fancy ones.Definitely would recommend as a simple and easy lunch spot if you want any kind of Japanese food.

Went in to order lunch for coworker, I went next door to place a order at China Express (Master Wok Chef must be at least 70+), my coworker did not want the green salad so I ordered the sum salad, they had bow tie pasta,,, after returning from ordering my food, saw salad..told them I couldnt take it like that because she was alergic to certain greens, the server said we cant take it back I said I cant take that to my coworker, she says she is alergic to it and she didnt order that. She responded by putting some pasta in a separate container, I asked if she would remove the greens, she became irratated and start cutting her eyes, then the cashier who took the order chimed in saying Its not her fault and its not our problem..I asked for a supervisor and expressed that a paying customer should not have to deal with such bad attitudes and customer service...the cashier continued chiming in, even after her presumably supervisor tapped her several times. The BOMB!!! This is my favorite restaurant for Chinese noodles - since they’re always moist. Whenever I fly into LA (it’s a must to drop by and pick up a plate that’ll last all day). Seriously the portion sizes are wonderful ?. Been coming here for over a decade & I hope they stick around the neighborhood for many more years to come.
