Decided to try Mandarin Lotus after driving by and then reading about it. Given the write up and the prices ($25 to $45 per entree), I was expecting an upscale experience, at least from a culinary point of view. Not even close. First, other than the wall of celebrity photos, it is pretty much a typical hole-in-the-wall dive of a Chinese restaurant. That ambiance is brought down to a new low by the food being served in styrofoam to-go boxes, and the tea being served in a styrofoam cup. I understand Covid changed the way people do things, but no restaurant I have been to pre- or post-Covid (including Chinese restaurants) has served sit-down food in a to-go box. I dont think the idea of serving on real dinnerware is asking too much. All that, however, would be tolerable if the food was up to the owners obvious high opinion of it. The dumplings were average. The spring rolls were 1/2 the size of a typical spring roll and straight from the Cisco truck. The beef in the Maple Glazed Beef was obviously reheated. The Argentinian Chicken was terribly overcooked. The flavors were good but nothing special, and the preparation was less than mediocre.And then theres the price: Spring rolls, dumplings, 2 dishes for a total bill of $115. Last time I checked thats real restaurant pricing where at the minimum they serve your food on actual dinnerware and you drink out of actual glasses. Even in LA I cannot believe more people dont comment on how outrageous the prices are for the quality of the food as well as the dining experience. Maybe this place was special once upon a time, but last night it was a just a ridiculously overpriced mediocre meal in a dreadfully pedestrian setting.Like others who have posted less than favorable reviews, I do not know what restaurant the people who love this place ate in. If someone can tell me where that restaurant is, I would love to go there.

I usually look forward to enjoying the steam veggies at Panda Express, but my recent visit left me deeply disappointed. On this occasion, I was informed that I would need to wait for the veggies to be freshly prepared, a request I was initially fine with. My order was simple: half steamed veggies and half steamed rice, with teriyaki chicken and an extra side of steamed veggies.Despite being reminded of the wait by the employee, Emma, and stepping outside for the 4-6 minutes as advised, my return revealed a disheartening sight. My expectation of a wholesome side of veggies was met with a single piece of broccoli.When I inquired about this with Emma, she confirmed it, leaving me no choice but to accept my order, though NOW with an ADDED PORTION of RICE instead of the anticipated veggies I requested.Feeling underserved, I literally went back in line after paying (one person behind me) to PURCHASE an additional side of veggies, only to be told upon payment that I would have to wait once again for more to be cooked.This cycle of waiting and disappointment escalated my frustration, leading me to request a refund—a decision made in the hope of sparing myself further dissatisfaction.Im literally speechless. I shouldve taken a picture.

Food is amazing. So yummy. Very different from other Chinese restaurants. Very tasty and not at all greasy. We had sweet and sour chicken as well as Kung Pao tofu and the vegetable fried rice. Highly recommend. Will drive from Santa Barbara to here. The food is that good. Everyone was super friendly. They constantly checked on us to make sure we were doing okay.We noticed they do a lot of take out orders. So busy. Yet they were still very attentive to us.I will be back!! Thanks for amazing food and great service.

Very good Chinese food, lots of tasty dishes. The food tastescleaner and healthier than most Chinese restaurants. Ive been multiple times over the years and the food is consistently great. Ive never had a bad dish here. Its a small restaurant, not a lot of staff, but they work hard to attend to everyone. Its take out only, no on site dining or table service

The quality of the food has gone downhill. The mozzarella sticks at Burger King are better. Most of the time, the grilled chicken for the chinese chicken salad is extremely overcooked. The restaurant is understaffed. Its also a bit on the pricey side...2 large chinese chicken salads cost about $50 after taxes and tip...thats insane for a salad.

What a nice surprise! I was so sad to see my favorite Chinese restaurant leave this location but I am very happy to have Vincitor in my town. Marias Kitchen does not scratch that authentic Italian food itch by any means. The food is very good and the staff is very friendly and inviting. The decor feels a little dated but they make up for it with good service and fresh food.

I had just had a terrible experience at this place. I usually go to a different Cronies and I enjoy it very much, but I thought Id give this one a try for kicks - a little change in scenery never hurts. I was there with a couple of friends having drinks. We closed out our tab at about 8pm and were planning to head home. Right as we were about to leave, another friend of ours walks in the door, so we sit back down and have a couple more drinks with him. Everything was great up to this point. The trouble occurred when we closed out our second tab at about 9pm (one hour after closing our first tab). The bill arrived, and there was clearly an error. They billed us for 24 beers! This is in the course of one hour, mind you. I explained that there was clearly a mistake, as we had only been drinking for one additional hour. The manager came to our table and proceeded to tell us how drunk we were, and we need to leave. Meanwhile, Im hardly drunk, and Im trying to explain to him that its impossible for us to drink 24 beers in one hour. He wouldnt listen. He treated us like we were drunken idiot scum, despite our clear and coherent explanation. I personally believe that these jerks think they can take advantage of drunk people. They see that youve had a few drinks, and they add a couple more to your bill because, well, Im sure these drunkies wont notice. Now ask yourself, does this review appear to be written by someone who is heavily intoxicated? It has only been 30 minutes since I left Cronies. I wasnt drunk then, and Im not drunk now - but the manager would insist that Im too drunk? Hell overcharge be for drinks that I did not have? Screw you. Pissed me off enough to write a bad review. Never will I return here, and I suggest no one goes to this Cronies. Go to the Newbury Park location, theyre respectful and bill you correctly. Bad business practices at this place, and the manager was very rude. End of rant.
