First time eating here after receiving a recommendation from a friend that the food was tasty. We were headed to the Chinese restaurant on Grant Avenue, so we changed our plans to try it out. Were very pleased with the quality of the food, HOWEVER, I am rating it a 2 because the service was the worst restaurant service ever!!!! They seated us with no menus, water, or tea (never offered tea at all, but gave to other guests) for 15 minutes. We asked 2 times, and then finally we were dropped menus on the table, and the server left. Did not say welcome to China Palace or anything. It took another 15 minutes before the server came back to take our order. The man was not friendly at all. Once the food arrived, we had to ask 2 times for the chow mein because it never came, and then finally, it showed up toward the end of our meal. My elderly mother asked for water 3 separate times from 3 different servers because they would not refill her or our water glasses from the first fill. It was apparently more important to set a table across the way than to give water to the guests who were thirsty from the food. My son also asked for water 2 times and then began to drink mine since they ignored him as well. Its too bad the service royally sucked because the food was super tasty. Its obvious they dont care about customer service or a wonderful dining experience, which will cost them customers returning to their establishment.If you want great customer service go to the Chinese restaurant on Grant Avenue where the food is still tasty and the servers are friendly and attentive to make sure your experience is wonderful so that you WILL come back. Its too bad this place was not like that because I and my extended family members would have put this as our top choice for Chinese food. We all agreed it was the worst service ever received. Also, I never even got the chance to ask if they use MSG in their food because the man seemed annoyed if you asked questions. It almost tasted like so, though. I should be granting them 1 star, but I gave 2 because I like the food a lot. Just cant bring myself back to be starved of water and kindness from the employees that work there. So my suggestion to all if you want a wonderful experience is to go eat somewhere else where you are appreciated as a customer.And oh yes, we had to flag someone down to let us leave because they knew we were done and finally took our plates, yet refused to bring the check for us to pay, as we waited patiently. My elderly step-dad made the comment,I bet we could get up and leave, and they STILL would not notice that we were gone since they hardly acknowledged our presence since we got here. That was rich coming from him because he would never ever evade a bill, and he was very upset with the way we were treated as customers.

As Panda Express goes this one is very nice inside and has a really big space for people to sit down and even a more roomy looking serving area. The staff is very fast and attentive but does not make you feel rushed. The young lady helping me was kind enough to agree with and even recommend I try samples of some new things because she thought I would enjoy it. Indeed I did, what friendly staff! The whole experience puts this as one of the best Panda Expresses I have been to. I cannot give it a perfect score because it is still the cheap and fast Chinese we are all used to in the United States, but for twice to three times the cost of an actual Chinese owned and run local restaurant. Why Panda? How is that possible with your mighty corporate magics? Is it greed? I dont know, but great job on hiring some cheery, friendly, hardworking staff.

Doors closed on May 31, 2024..Novato loses another excellent Chinese restaurant... May yall enjoy retirement.Quality of food is excellent and quantity commensurate with prices... I plan on visiting often. No more DoorDash for me... 10min walk from my apartment.Staff is friendly and helpful.Took pictures of complete current (12.8.23) menu todays visit...food always excellent.

The food here is good. It has new owners as of this year (2016). Ive enjoyed most things Ive tried and so far my favorite dish is the Generals Chicken. The crab rangoon had too many onions for my taste, but my wife enjoyed them. The fried rice is better now and most ingredients in other dishes have seemed to be fresher under the new management. I prefer this chinese restaurant over others in Novato. Checkout the back center of the to go menu for take out coupons!

And today I am trying the House Frie Rice and salt & Pepper chicken. And it is good. I mean really good.Oh yeah it is 740 pm 05.02.17 and I am back again. Always love this place. Food is always good as the staff is super cool and serves the food fast.Ok I am here again. And now fried rice and salt and pepper chicken. And it is really good....Oh yeah it is 05.19.17 and i am jere at the Spot again. Now need to check oit the soup. And i order the chicken soup and it was really good. I love the taste and veggies well cooked.Another day at my favorite spot. Prefer some chicken soup again and yes it is very good...

This is fantastic, healthy, and delicious Mandarin food. The chef is also the owner, they live in the neighborhood, and regulars seem to drop in regularly. Tonight was my fourth visit. Husband and wife seem to pour their whole life into the place, and it shows. The vegetables are crisp, fresh tasting, the beef is juicy, the chicken tender. Even the soy sauce is a little better, the fortune cookies are crisp and fresh. If I lived closer to Novato, Id go often. Now when I stop to see the puppies at Marin Humane, I stop by Dragon Cafe for lunch or dinner.

I used to go to this place when I was in high school. I came back and its under new ownership, but just as good as ever. The portions were huge. I got veggie fried rice and spicy eggplant. Honestly some of the best Chinese food Ive had! The rice has so much flavor and lots of vegetables. Obviously a lot of care goes into the making of this food.

My experience: I work near the restaurant and have eaten there roughly 4 times. Attention to the details below were conducted each timeThe Food: Good Quality, Tasty, Reasonably pricedThe Location: Good Size, Acceptable decorThe Staff: Friendly and welcomingNeeds work:CLEANLINESS AND HYGEINE1. Bare hands touching food. Didnt see hand washing (with soap) on any visit. Gloves really should be used since hands not washed. Have personally seen owner exchange cash and proceed directly to making an order (sometimes giving fingertips a water rinse).2. Im a little concerned with the pans they reuse to for the conveyer oven. Melted cheese and stuff is on it but I noticed they were used for new orders.This restaurant is very decent and provides valuable (and delicious) food options for the area. My only concern is for the health of their patrons. I will consider eating there again, but only after changes to food handling and dishwashing procedures are made.
