Bao Su a Chinese Cuisine
5225 Cochran St, Simi Valley, CA 93063, United States
Ive been looking for my go-to Chinese restaurant since moving back to Simi from the valley. This is definitely it. They have the best chicken lo mein Ive ever had, I think. Their sweet and sour chicken is also amazing. My husband loves their hot and sour soup. I wish they had dinner combinations that other restaurants have (come with soup, spring rolls, rice, etc.) but thats more my own problem with indecision than anything negative about this restaurant. Its so good, I want some of everything.Everything is very reasonably priced. Large portions - 2 of us always leave with leftovers from 2 entrees and an appetizer. The staff is friendly and efficient. Great all around. We eat here several times a month.

Imperial Chinese Restaurant

This is the first time I went to Imperial Chinese. They advertise a vegan menu! Since Im entirely plant based, I thought Id check it out. Unfortunately some of their staff werent well informed about the vegan menu options. Their response to my questions led me to believe it really wasnt vegan after all. So I just ordered some sautéed vegetables. They were very tasty. I posted a Google review questioning whether the restaurant truly offered vegan options. The owner was informed by his employees about my concerns. He read my original Google review and promptly responded informing me the vegan options are truly vegan and prepared in separate oil from the other meat products. Im looking forward to returning to try out the vegan menu.July 13, 2023 - UPDATEI took my wife to the Imperial Chinese Restaurant today to check out their vegan menu. Both my wife and I are plant-based. We ordered the Sweet & Sour Chicken, the Cashew Nut Chicken and the Broccoli & Snow Peas. We found them to be amazing. We’ve eaten at a number of Chinese restaurants across the country that offer vegan options. This menu ranks up with the best. I highly recommend their restaurant if you are looking for great plant-based Chinese food in the Simi Valley area. Sam, the owner, his manager Marco, and the staff are all pleasant people. Check it out!

This store sadly is too cheap to buy plexiglass. I wear my mask when I go Into the public. But while other restaurants have learned how to take the correct precautionary steps to open, not this location when it comes to opening the location. The food is fine but the average time getting it is 20 minutes with one customer inside, one in line waiting to go inside. Any more than that it increases by up to five minutes per additional person. When you order your food they push you to donate money to something called COVID but they don’t explain what that means in terms of who or what organization. I donated but they push very hard for this so just have an open mind. Lunch time can be a challenge so be patient and visit other Chinese restaurants that are fully open as well in Simi or Ventura County. I am sure they will be back to normal sometime just not now.

Szechuwan Garden

This is the best Chinese restaurant in Simi Valley. The atmosphere is clean and upscale, with a light-colored elegant interior thats quite pretty. The booths are comfortable and usually full. I work with many foreign exchange students and take them to various Asian restaurants (Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese and Chinese), and my students really like their food! Lunch options are very reasonable and plentiful.

Panda Bowl

I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley, so I grew up eating Chinese food cooked by Chinese people, eaten by Chinese customers, alongside my Chinese high school friends. Finding adequate Chinese food outside of the San Gabriel Valley has been a pickle for most of my adult life living in the San Fernando Valley, Agoura Hills, and now Simi. However, Panda Bowl is the real deal. The black pepper beef is delicious, and my kids absolutely love the barbecue chicken, the orange chicken and the teriyaki chicken. Their noodles are the real deal, and scratch the noodle itch that I cannot satisfy at Panda Express. I am here probably once a week for their egg flower soup and won ton soup, and have to be careful to alternate soups each week, or I will get cut off by my husband, hehe. The portions are also very generous, and the prices are very good. However. If youre coming here to pick up dinner, aim for arriving before 7 p.m., which is when they stop cooking food (except for soup). This is a family-owned restaurant, so naturally they are not trying to have a ton of food leftover at the end of the night.

Poor experience overall. Food was okay at best and service was terrible! Upon walking in, we were asked how many and then just pointed to which side of the restaurant to sit without any further direction or acknowledgement. We went and found a table and sat down but nobody ever came by. After a few minutes of waiting and unsure if we were supposed to wait or start making our food, we got up and asked and a nod was the only response we got. After our group returned to our table there was soup and bread waiting but nobody ever came back to check in on us or take drink orders. The server even walked right by our table about 1/2 way though our meal (after bringing drinks to the table across from us), peeked at our table and then just turned and walked away. Once everyone was done eating and still no acknowledgement, my niece finally got up and asked if we could get some water for our table. Several minutes later, the same server that walked past our table about 30 minutes prior, returned with only one glass of water for a party of six!! Not to mention, that we still had to request water for the remaining guests, which took several more minutes of waiting just to get. It was hot outside, the inside of the restaurant was hot, not a single staff member checked on us (including the server), the food wasn't very good, and we had to eat our entire meal without anything to drink. Definitely would not recommend this place!

New Panda
2950 Cochran St # B, Simi Valley, CA 93065, United States
Prices have doubled and yes, its very low brow Chinese food. But Im still giving it 5 stars, cause low brow chinese food is a certain genre of food that probably started in NY or SF and theres hundreds of similar places nationwide. Panda Express corporatized this type of food. This place is OG, and does greasy low brow Chinese the way it was before Panda. And it does it well. And Simi, a place with little urban culture, somehow has this place, and its been at this location in the strip mall since the late 90s. I remember going as a kid.

We visited this restaurant based on the Google reviews. The place was very busy with carryout orders, we were the only dine in patrons. We waited longer than necessary for the only dine in customers. The waitress was extremely overwhelmed but was trying to be accommodating. She took our drink order but forgot to bring them when she returned to take our order after addressing carryout and phone orders There was an older gentleman assisting, maybe the owner. He brought my daughters orange chicken out along with my white rice, but nothing else. After 5 minutes I inquired with our waitress where our other plates were and she explained they were very busy but they would be out shortly. In the meantime a family of four (4) sat down to dine in. The waitress proceeded to take their order and bring their drinks. I again asked about our other dishes, my daughter only had chicken at the table and I only had white rice so we couldnt exactly eat. Then we see the waitress bring out to the other family two (2) dishes. While she was tending to them the older male brought out my appetizer and then proceeded to also deliver the other family the same appetizer. I stopped him before returning to the kitchen to inquire about the other half of our meal. He simply stated we are busy, but did not provide rationale as to why he brought her chicken and my rice without the corresponding dishes. Mind you it had been almost 10 minutes at this point. It was as if my concern was not understood or not a legitimate concern. When I asked our waitress about taking the chicken back for fresh / warm chicken she did not know what to do, I saw her brain overload as she paced back and forth twice before she grabbed place settings for a new family of four that sat down to dine in. She never responded to my question/concern. Needles to say after 15 or more minutes of our initial dishes sitting at the table they were cold when the remainder of our dishes arrived at the table. Ruined our experience all because they were under staffed on the night we decide to visit. Sigh. The food was good, but our attitudes were salty. In addition, they didnt even offer to discount our cold chicken and rice. BTW the rice was a la carte so I paid for cold white rice and the also over charged for one of my daughters dishes. This is the first time ever in our dinning experience that we left a mediocre time, I tip 20% or more and taught my children the same.

Absolutely rude. Ordered 3 meals and a kids meal. The kids meal had honey walnut shrimp as the item. The employee put just a few shrimp. When I asked for more, she said it comes with 4 and I gave you 5 with a negative rude tone. What happened to friendly service? Also chow mein ran out so I had to wait since one of my meals was missing it. She boxed my stuff and I asked is my chow mein in the last meal? She said yes again with a rude tone. Got home and it was missing! There are numerous food places near this establishment. Definitely bringing my business elsewhere with friendly employees that get the order right. My best advice, if they run out of something, check before you leave thats its in the box. I am beyond irritated. I do not like paying for something and not receiving it!
