Sushi Mambo

Ramen were super bland( not even a little bit of spice), chef doesnt even have a hot sauce to make them spicy. Nothing is Japanese about the restaurant. I did ask, the waiter told me you dont have it and also he had to make one himself.

This was a great experience and I almost never assign 5 stars for a review because, to me, this would mean that nothing could be improved and there is always something that can be improved. As a matter of fact, my wife and I stayed 3 nights at the new Four Seasons Hotel in Calistoga immediately preceding our 3 night stay at the Francis house and we would chose to stay at the Francis house every day and twice on Sunday given the choice between the two.My wife and I are seasoned and privileged travelers who are accustomed to the convenience and service that is expected by luxury travelers. We typically do not stay at bed and breakfast accommodations but found this experience worth the detour to our normal routine. The house construction, bed quality, bed linens, bathroom, decor and food were what you would expect from some of the most expensive luxury hotels in the world. Secondly, the location is perfect for exploring the town of Calistoga on foot and experiencing the charming restaurants and bars in town. Thirdly, the food quality was fresh, healthy and extremely tasty but the presentation was worthy of a Michelin star chef. This was a real bonus.1000 thread count sheets, sumptuous goose down pillows and memory foam beds with supple pillow topper are staples at Uber luxury resorts but the service staff is routinely hired help who execute their service objectives professionally and efficiently. The Francis house experience is similar but is enhanced because the owners make you feel like you are family guests in their home. They have an inviting style that services your every need but encourages a deeper connection with their guests that eventually turns into a friendship. If you are searching for a luxury stay in Calistoga, within easy walking distance to downtown Calistoga provided by charming people who you will eventually call friends, look no further than the Francis House.
Solbar
755 Silverado Trail N, Calistoga, CA 94515, United States
What a beautiful setting, stunning decor, creative drink menu & superb food! After a long work week, my boyfriend planned a spa day in Calistoga, and for dinner we found SolBar on Yelp. Its Napa dining, so expect high quality and high prices. We arrived early but still chose to sit in the bar area and order some food and drinks. The windows open completely and screens are secured, so you get this wonderful breeze flowing through the restaurant.*Their house cocktails are divine!- Elephants Memory... mezcal with an egg white froth! This is the best cocktail Ive had in a very, very long time.- The Fig is Up... Im not a rum drinker, but this has more of a smoky flavor and when combined with the sweetness of the fig, it made my tastebuds happy.- Leather n Rye... how can you go wrong with a sazerac? This is the drink I used to use to test my bar managers, it needs to be made with precision and when its done right, the flavors meld together perfectly. Bravo to the bartender at SolBar.- Beet-le juice (non-alcoholic) not too fruity, not too beety, but still very colorful and refreshing. I had to start with a non-alcoholic drink after all of those mineral baths and massages; this was a great choice.Lobster Mac (5/5) - not overly cheesy, but not under either. My bf thought the cheese was a little too runny, but I preferred this over the thick cheese, especially when there were large and ample chunks of lobster.Beet & Quinoa salad (4/5) - plated well but a little minimal, flavors were excellent but the red quinoa was a little too grainy in texture, like it shouldve been rinsed better. I love golden beets and with the thin slices of mandarin, it tasted great.Maine Scallop (5/5) - this is not the menu item, but a seasonal that was off-menu and offered for this day. It was served ceviche style, in the shell, with chili powder, cucumber water, cilantro, mint, lime, olive oil & salt. There were a few small tabs of avocado puree, just enough to go with each small bite. Again, DIVINE!48 hour Ribs (10/5) - yes, I gave it a 10... out of 5. If you had to get only one thing on this menu, get these! Two amuse-bouche were offered at the start and end of the meal. The service here was just great, the decor beautiful. My only feedback for SolBar, would be to dust their pictures! We had a booth seat and you could see the layer of dust on their large artwork; when a breeze came through the restaurant it would loosen some of the dust and it made me lose my appetite a little bit.
Lovina
1107 Cedar St, Calistoga, CA 94515, United States
A tip-free restaurant serving up delicious modern American dishes with a beautiful decor. We were able to be seated outside as a party of 3 with no wait and no reservations on the Thursday before Christmas weekend on the beautiful Large Hardwood table (Large enough for 8-10 people). We ordered a variety of dishes and every dish was executed to perfection, delicious and bold flavors, with friendly and fast service. For appetizers the House-Made Fresh Ricotta is a must get. The local honey combined with the soft ricotta and a nice crispy crostini is to die for. One of the best ricotta appetizers Ive had anywhere in the world. The API Amarillo Aguachile is a nice reminder of Japanese sashimi when youre a worlds away. For entrees, Ordered the Seared Wild Halibut, Braised Wagyu Beef Short Rib, and the Duck Confit & Kale Pesto Pasta. Between the 3 Id be hard pressed to pick any favorites since all of them were so delicious. Best if you can try them all and share a little of each which is what we chose to do.The desserts are fantastic as well and not overly sweet to give a nice ending to the day. Thick and decadent caramelized apple bread pudding but without an over the top sweetness and a chocoflan cake that was surprisingly airy and light.Wouldnt hesitate to recommend others or come back here anytime were in town.
House of Better
1507 Lincoln Ave, Calistoga, CA 94515, United States
Chose to eat here for brunch as it was convenient to be able to eat a morning meal walking directly downstairs from the hotel. But if I had a choice again, I would not choose this restaurant.Ordered the LITTLE GEMS + SMOKED SALMON (Avocado, fennel, caper berries, persian cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, umeboshi furikake, fresh herbs, seed crisps, green chile buttermilk dressing), RED CHILE CHICKEN POSOLE (Hominy, cilantro + onion, radish, corn tortilla), GREEN CHILE STEW (Pork, chicken or veggie Served w/ crema + tortillas), Kombucha on tap, and a slice of GREEN CHILE APPLE PIE (House specialty with walnut streusel, cheddar crust, whipped cream, red chile honey drizzle). Most of the savory dishes fell flat for me with 1 dimensional flavor. Didnt deliver any wow or exciting bold Mexican flavors that work as a symphony as I was expecting. Many restaurants within walking distance nearby that are a better choice delivering more flavor and value. The only exception is the house made green Chile apple pie which was rated as the best in town and is quite delicious. Thats well worth saving your stomach for.
