Sake House by Hikari

If you are looking for a lively restaurant where you can show friends and family a particularly good time, then Hikari Japanese Restaurant is the place for you. My girlfriend, a LA native native, took my boy friend and I there during an overnight visit. It was perfect for my boy friend’s first exposure to LA, epitomizing the city’s friendliness and spunk. We all started out with a round of beers and sake, which were doubled and eventually tripled throughout the night complements of the generous owner. Finding ourselves in a particularly hungry mood, my boyfriend and I ordered a roll each and the teriyaki chicken dish to share. Needless to say our appetites were certainly satiated. The rolls were large and topped with an abundance of fish, giving us enough to protein and other fillers to feel satisfied. This complimented with the variety of samples they provided free of charge, just to enhance our eating experience, and plentiful dish of chicken and rice, definitely left us feeling well-fed. Just when we thought we were about to implode the owner emerges challenging us to a sake-bomb face-off. “Finish the last drop of this sake – bomb before I do” he proposes “and your tables’ $130 bill will be on me”, “loose”, he cautions “and I will add this bottle of beer to your tab”. Impassioned by the exciting chance of a free meal, low stakes, steady stream of alcohol that had already lowered our inhibitions, and false sense of self-confidence we accept the challenge. After loosing miserably we learn that he keeps himself busy by challenging his patrons on an hourly basis, giving him plenty of experience and inspiring skill to show us up. We left feeling slightly defeated but altogether jubilant after a delicious Sushi feast.

Mickey owns all.Best on the Westside for no frills sush made to order [in a neighborhood strip mall, lacking ambiance].Its just Mickey wrapping rolls and his wife(?) cooking plates in the back so TAKE YOUR TIME and enjoy the company or else order To Go wAAaay ahead (an hour, two or so) of time. Its assured that everything is made with fresh ingredients. Probably a reason why people think that it is a little too costly. Besides Ive seen much worse than $12 for Tempura that tasted like H. Salt breaded shrimp batter. This is real culture food place so you should know if you will like it or not.[reading through the critics- Mickey is a Americanized J/A but he keeps the food real. He has already been forced to cater to American tastes by reducing their stock supply of fish. Ill be damned if he changes recipes just to suit someone that cant spend $12 on authentic food. The critics would like Natallie Thai for the butchered thai food resembling no Thai food I ever ate before (except in Southern Illinois) ]Watch for (extra) specials. Mickey will occasionally buy things at the fish market if he sees something interesting or seasonal. Once Mickey broke out fresh LIVE uni, shucked and served it. That was a first for me and the 2nd order was just as awesome.
Nishi Poke & Ramen Bar
4263 Overland Ave, Culver City, CA 90230, United States
Awesome poke bowls AND ramen.Having dined at the Nishi Poke & Ramen Bar thats slightly up north, I finally tried this location, so I can say that quality is consistent between locations.Pickup: easy, painlessFood: I had the large poke bowl. Im a disgusting pig, so I I inhaled it. It was a good amount of grub and it tasted fresh to the point that I felt good after eating.Service: both locations have such kind people working there. Only adds to the experience.Parking: 100% sure theres a parking lot, but in true Justin fashion, I parked across the street before I realized that.Recommend: Yes

Horrible. Not only did I pay for extra chicken and shrimp that I never recieved. I never recieved the 2 spring rolls I paid for! I had to practically beg for soy sauce & hot sauce. That they kept saying is in the bag. Yet; When I got to my car there wasnt neither placed in my bag other than what I had to beg for! I cant lie; what I ate was ok. But please check your bag before leaving. And make sure you have all the sauces you need in your presence before approaching. Because you will get embarrassed if you ask for sauces & chop sticks! Because they will scream its in the bag when its not! Then proceed to scream the the next customers number like your not standing there!

Excellent Japanese restaurant. The parking structure is behind the building, leading to bathroom foyer. They serve Hamachi Kama.
Moto Ramen

Stopped here a few weeks ago when my friend wanted to check it out...was feeling the ramen craving! We walked up without a reservation and got onto the list but they were able to get us a table within about 5 minutes! We got the Tedorigawa sake that was recommended by our server to drink, which the bottle was a little smaller than I expected but it tasted dangerously sweet and good...went down smoothly. We started out with ordering the Lotus Kinpira and the Chicken Karaage to share (both pictured). The Lotus Kinpira was so delicious I almost forgot to take a photo (comes with more than pictured) and I would highly recommend as a starter. I had never had the Chicken Karaage before and I gotta say, it was flavorful while crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Then for our meals, we got the Tan Tan Men and the Shio Chicken Ramen (with added spice). First I got to say, these are oversized bowls, so come to expect large portions of ramen! Both were very delicious with the perfect amount of flavor, though I had the Shio Chicken and it was everything I was looking for in a ramen and the white meat chicken breast was cooked to perfection! On top of the amazing meal, our server was amazing, on her game, had a very socialable attitude and full of great recommendations. I definitely plan to go back for those ramen craving nights and highly recommend!

This restaurant had many varieties of chinese and Japanese noodles. My son is a vegan and there were many choices he could eat. I ordered a bowl with sliced meat, vegetables and a great sauce. Our food came pretty quickly and was hot and delicious. My son ordered saki.He liked the way it was served and tastedThe waiter was helpful and efficient. The portions were very generous.

I received a birthday coupon for a free bowl, however, if I want to use it I am required to print the coupon and bring it to the store?I don't understand. Since technology is so advanced, What happened to being paperless and saving the trees? This store won't allow me to just show the coupon and have them scan it from my cell, I have to print it. What a waste of trees and waste of a coupon, I don't own a printer & I haven't received a coupon that was actually required to get printed in order to get used since like the year 2001', ...15+ years ago.Get with the times.Save the trees.Other than that, I love the staff, the employees here are always nice and provide great customer service.
Ninigi
5660 Selmaraine Dr k10, Culver City, CA 90230, United States
6/26 update: **CLOSED** Ninigi is no longer serving at this ghost kitchen. Their system is somehow still taking orders and payments online via delivery apps so beware. If you order, no food will be awaiting you and you'll have to email your delivery app provider to refund.————————3/1 update: Saddens me a bit to write this but given slightly declining food quality and a relatively high ticket, along with extended wait times, which have gotten worse lately, I'm less inclined to order from here, along with any of the restaurants in this ghost kitchen. This last time I had to wait over 45 minutes before they even told me they had lost our order. Then it took another 30 mins to get our food. All in, it took 75 minutes from the time I ordered to the time I got our food. I wouldn't appreciate paying $75 at a sit-down restaurant to have them forget my order, so I definitely cant tolerate it at a ghost kitchen.Really hope they can fix their processes/systems first and foremost. Disappointment.—————————Delicious katsu don and tonkatsu in Culver City!! Crispy but not over-breaded. Tasty, juicy chicken cutlet that isn't overcooked. At last, some good Asian food down here! Even if it's to go only. I hope they open a store front at some point! Highly recommend
Yaki Hr Japanese Teriyaki Bowls

I placed an online order from here and it was so good! presentarion was amazing and i loved the chicken. The cucumbers were not my favorite but I don't really like anything pickled so i'm sure they're good for people who do. It's not anything fancy but for a teriyaki chicken meal it's perfect! Great for lunch
