Ramen Akimoto
18657 Yorba Linda Blvd, Yorba Linda, CA 92886, United States
Pictured are the Tsukemen and the Jiro Ramen..I think I found my new favorite tsukemen place in SoCal. They have proper thicc and bouncy tsuke noodles to go with a fish forward soup. If you dont like fish, I believe you can opt out of the fish power too. I recommend having the noodles cold so it doesnt continue cooking while waiting for you to dip it into the broth. They also have soup wari so you can dilute the broth to make it more drinkable after you are finished with your noodles. Highly recommend this ramen shop!Akimoto-san trained under the legendary Kazuo Yamagishi at Taishoken in Higashi-Ikebukuro. Ill be back to try the Monday only Jiro-style bowl ?Updated May 2024:I came back to try their Jiro. My order was ninniku/garlic, abura mashi/more back fat, and karame/extra seasoning sauce. I love the texture of the noodles here. Iirc they said that the Jiro noodles were custom made by Myojo. Overall, this was another great bowl ?(psst ig @schw3i for my ramen log)

What a brilliant concept. Japanese nuanced vegan dishes. Everything we had was super yummy. The sauces are perfectly matched. The eggplant no-tuna bites were amazing. The karaage (no-chicken nuggets) were very good and recommended (especially for regular chicken eaters) and touted as a favorite, but I invite you to go beyond the favorites as everything we had was extremely well done. The Kings and Queens with pickled onions on top were solid. But the Futomaki was exquisite with thte pickled beet wrap and the sauce. The classic ramen with spicy sauce was reported as fabulous if you can handle heat. Members of our party also had the pretzle sliders with impossible meat. And it was so good including the gyoza. Enjoy.
Sushi Noguchi
18507 Yorba Linda Blvd, Yorba Linda, CA 92886, United States
Sushi Noguchi has been my familys go-to restaurant for any special occasion (birthdays, anniversaries, guests in town, etc.), and everyone we have brought here has loved it just as much as we do. My husband and I lived in LA where there is an abundance of good japanese restaurants, and were struggling to find a solid japanese restaurant when we moved to north OC until we discovered Sushi Noguchi. For the quality of the food here, the prices are very reasonable. The sushi is fresh, and there are also plenty of cooked food options for those who dont eat raw fish. They can even make rolls that arent on the menu, you just have to ask them if they have what you want! The service here is also top notch, they are super kind and attentive, but dont bother you more than they need to. The ambiance is also so nice inside with all of the wood and spaced out tables. Due to the pandemic, we have not been dining in-person here (I believe they do have outdoor dining now), but we have ordered takeout many times and the food/service have been just as great.
Bari Bari Japanese Steak House
19677 Yorba Linda Blvd, Yorba Linda, CA 92886, United States
We tried Bari Bari Japanese Steak House for the first time tonight for my husband’s birthday! It’s close to Corona which we like and is somewhere different! The restaurant was small and quaint and very busy… this must be a popular place!! The staff was super friendly, and provided excellent service the entire time! The chefs were entertaining and cooked the best food!! We got the filet mignon and shrimp, filet mignon and chicken, kids beef teriyaki and kids chicken! Of course got the works with their mushroom soup, salad, fried rice, and veggies!! It was my hubbys birthday and they brought him a large bottle of Sapporo beer with two candles attached… so sweet! We definitely enjoyed ourselves tonight and will be dining at Bari Bari again!!
Sushi Imari Yorba Linda
18220 Yorba Linda Blvd #310, Yorba Linda, CA 92886, United States
This is definitely my new go-to Japanese restaurant! They currently have a soft opening menu, which still has a lot of options. We ordered a mix of sushi, rolls, and appetizers and everything tasted great. The sashimi was so fresh! The service was also great, it was getting crowded while we were dining but we never had an issue of not being checked on or having a hard time asking for something.
Ise Sushi Japanese Restaurant
1241 E Yorba Linda Blvd, Placentia, CA 92870, United States
Terrible service. Took 15 minutes for someone to come to our table to take our order. The owner is just standing around doing nothing and acting like he did not see us sitting there. A small cup of hot tea costs $1.99. No one check on us to see if we need anything else or refill our tea. We are not coming back. There are better Japanese restaurants in the area. Restaurant needs customers and customers dont need restaurant. I hope management at Ise Sushi Japanese Restaurant understands this business concept.
love ramen
17401 Bastanchury Rd, Yorba Linda, CA 92886, United States
Let this be heard! Authentic Japanese Ramen lover should not come here.. This place is seriously insulting Japanese Ramen. Broth is watery. There is barely a hint of donkotsu flavor. Microwaveable japanese Ramen from nearby Tokyo central have better donkotsu flavor than this and cheaper. Server didnt know the soup base of the each Ramen.Shockingly, their chasu was not Japanese chasu, it was Chinese chasu which has 5 spice flavor. Ive been Japan several times and as a serious Ramen fan, I tried many types of Japanese Ramen. I ve never seen a place giving me Chinese chasu in japanese Ramen. Also, cup was not cleaned so I had to see dust floating on the water in my cup.Yummy fried rice was alright but mustered with cheesy spicy mayo you can find from volcano lobster california roll. If this restaurant didnt have a Ramen in their name, this place can be a subpar Japanese themed Chinese restaurant.

Best Japanese food in Yorba Linda by far, I may even go on to say my favorite restaurant in Yorba Linda altogether.
Izakaya Takasei
2980 Yorba Linda Blvd, Fullerton, CA 92831, United States
I recently visited Izakaya Takasei and had a mixed experience. My boyfriend and I ordered the takoyaki, chicken cutlet and egg rice bowl, several yakitori, takowasabi (raw octopus with wasabi), and the Kobe beef roll. While the takoyaki and yakitori were delicious, the chicken cutlet and egg rice bowl was really bland. The Kobe beef roll was a bit odd with the combination of garlic butter and tataki sauce. Unfortunately, there were also a few items on the menu that were no longer available, which was a bit disappointing. It would be good for the restaurant to update their menu to avoid any confusion or disappointments. While the food at Izakaya Takasei comes out quickly, this can also be a double-edged sword. During my visit, my boyfriend and I received several dishes at once, which meant that a lot of our food was sitting out and getting cold while we were eating the others. It would be great if the kitchen could pace the dishes better to ensure that everything is served at the optimal temperature. The service was a bit lackluster as well. The only time we were able to ask for condiments, utensils, and more water was when the employees brought our food out. No one checked on us throughout our meal, and it would have been nice to have a more attentive staff. On the plus side, the restaurant has nice Japanese decor and is quite spacious. However, there was no background music, which made the ambiance a bit dull.Overall, while there were some drawbacks, Izakaya Takasei may be worth checking out if youre in the area and in the mood for some Japanese cuisine. Just be sure to join the wait-list on Yelp beforehand and check in with the host when you arrive.
Pokeology
18547 Yorba Linda Blvd, Yorba Linda, CA 92886, United States
I always get excited when I hear about poke joints in YL, but this one didnt live up to the hype for me.I came here because it was relatively new and I wanted to try it out. Im a huge fan of poke bowls, and what really sets different poke restaurants apart from each other really comes down to the toppings that are included with the price you pay and the level of service you receive.* PRICE / PORTION *A regular bowl is $8.95 and a large bowl is $11.75. Regular is 3 scoops of fish vs a large which is 5. I wouldnt recommend getting the large unless youre really hungry or youre splitting it with somebody else.* TOPPINGS *I really like that they give generous portions for each topping, especially the seaweed salad which I have always had to pay for (its free here)! Im slightly disappointed that their avocado topping has gone from being free to an additional charge of $0.49. I also think its strange how they have a huge amount of day-old avocado in a quarter pan when they should have just preserved the freshness of the avocado with some lemons. It looks more appealing that way, in my opinion. The house sauce is alright. I believe its a mixture of soy sauce and peanut oil, which doesnt really send me. Not much of a kick to it but not much flavor other than the peanut either. The sauce truly makes it or breaks it for me, so I would recommend trying out a different sauce than their house special.* SERVICE *The employees are NICE, but nice really doesnt cut it for me. I was very disappointed to see that one of the food service workers had so many strands of hair sticking outside of her ponytail and hat. I thought the purpose of wearing a hat was to keep hair away from the food, so why isnt anyone there to tell her to redo her ponytail? Speaking of anyone there, where was the manager on duty? Or the assistant manager? Or a supervisor? I checked in on Yelp to receive my free miso soup and neither the FSW nor the cashier had any idea about the promotion. Instead, the cashier decided to call his manager on the phone to verify the promotion rather than just honoring it. Cmon, the miso soup was only $1. Im not so much disappointed in not getting the miso soup as I am about there not being any authoritative figure there at all.I hope that they can make improvements with the quality of their service and the presentation of their food/toppings. Maybe then will I return to this location for a second chance.
