Thanks Chicken Lomita

Okay so I really don’t write reviews often… But… This is my new favorite spot! If you are looking for authentic Korean street cuisine, this is the place to go! The staff is very friendly, every time I order I am surprised by how quickly my order is done, the atmosphere is great and they play K-Pop music with the music videos on TVs. I have been here a few times already since they barely opened up and each time I try something new. Everything has been awesome. The portions are HUGE! The quality is amazing and it’s a very fair price. Their lunch specials are unmatched as well. They have treated me with so much respect every time I have come here that i couldn’t even wait to eat my food without writing a review first. Pictured is the “Thanks Beef Bowl” although calling it a “bowl” is an understatement. It comes in a ginormous to-go box! You can tell they use quality ingredients and put love/care into making your food. This authentic bulgogi is better than a lot of fancy restaurants I have tried in K-Town. Try for yourself!

I ordered the lunch special boneless combo for ($14.32 after tax) over the phone. This was my first time trying bb.q chicken. I love Korean fried chicken so I knew I had to try this spot eventually.I ordered my lunch on Monday, and there was no wait so the server told me it would be ready in 15 minutes. I chose the Special Sauce chicken, with fries as my side (over rice or sweet potato fries), and a drink (canned drinks only). I arrived a little after 20 minutes, and the restaurant was pretty empty. The parking lot was also open due to other businesses being closed, but this parking lot is small so it can fill up quickly.Food ratings:Boneless chicken with Special Sauce - 3/5 starsI was expecting the chicken to be thick and crunchy, but the consistency was more like a chicken tender covered in sauce. The flavor of the Special Sauce was great - garlicy, sweet, and not spicy at all. I dont think boneless chicken is the way to go though, but that is the only option for the lunch special unfortunately. The portion size was perfect for lunch, but I wish they would offer the bone-in chicken for the lunch special.Fries - 5/5 starsThe fries honestly saved this meal. They were so crunchy and flavorful (pretty sure they fry them with the chicken to give them that flavor--its delicious).Radish - 5/5 starsI was very glad they provide a side of radish with the lunch special. Typical white cube radish to go with the chicken.Drink - 4/5 starsCanned drinks are easy for transport at least

Decent authentic Korean Restaurant. Bit pricy given that everything is served in carry out plastic even when eating in the restaurant. $18 for Bi Bim Bap is not out of line but the proportions are smaller compared to other places. Left a 18% tip but sort of regret it. Not because the service was bad. It is just that there was no real service. It is more of order and pickup and eat. Very much like Flame Broiler. NOT a sit down restaurant.Tasty however. Perhaps I will try this place again. I have eaten at almost all the Korean restaurants in the South Bay.

Cream Pan Bakery Lomita

Service: slightly chaotic but friendly.Parking: small private lot maybe 20 spaces (enter on 240th St.) with free street parking.Based in Orange County, Cream Pan finally opened up shop in the South Bay... yasss!!! Located off Narbonne Ave. & 240th St., the bakery was a bright white so it stood out in the residential neighborhood. The street is fairly busy on a Saturday afternoon that I was almost rear ended when I slowed to a sweet spot adjacent to the bakery before noticing the private lot. Yikes!Once inside, its goodies run lengthwise as you enter from the right & peruse your way left through all their offerings. The 1st case displays their best seller -- strawberry croissants -- prepackaged in a box of 6. Gotta get me some of those!! If you buy the box or trays, its slightly discounted (between 2% - 7%) from an individual serving. With just a couple of hours left before closing, I was surprised at the amount of goodies left. According to their website, Cream Pan has a pretty substantial menu & not everything was displayed during my visit. Im guessing theyre working on it since I consider this period as their soft opening to work out their inventory & kinks. There were several people ahead of me, but the line was held up by the customers & staff trying to figure whose first. It took me a second before realizing I could skip ahead to pay for my grab-&-go box. I inquired at the counter if they have a loyalty program. Nope. Not that they need one to encourage loyal patronage, though it would be a nice reward for us customers. Heres hoping they may create one (85°C, JJ, Torrance Bakeries does)The bakery is close to home & walkable, but not in this early fall that feels likes summer. I dont think these strawberry croissants would hold well for a 25-min. walk, maybe doable when the weathers cooler. We were home in a couple of mins. & my 7 YO immediately dove into his; a huge smile lit up upon 1st bite. While the croissants are slightly smaller than other local bakeries, they still have that buttery flaky goodness. Cream Pans has more of a crispy texture, & its stuffed with a light custard & fresh strawberries that you get a delicious taste of both in every bite. Soooooo yummy!! Strawberry season has passed so theyre not as sweet & juicy... I can only imagine how this treat will get better during strawberry season. Oh my!The owner, Yoshinori Inaba, initially focused on cream pans (sweet buns with light custard), hence its name, then expanded to pastries, breads, cakes, Japanese-style sandwiches, & savory rice dishes.I plan on tasting through their menu; starting with: apple croissant, blueberry croissant, strawberry banana croissant, pan au raisin, azuki cream, croquette & yakisoba sandwiches (this noodle sandwich sounds interesting) so I can recommend/use them to cater our morning meetings. Cream Pan has shorter hours than the local bakeries; however, they open early enough & would be a great option for our morning meetings.Only 2 weeks in & Cream Pan already has 40 Yelp reviews... with their rising popularity, Im sure a long line will be forming for their baked goods. Come early so you dont miss out on their treats!Highly Recommended: Strawberry Croissants!!

Everything about their wagyu is utterly amazing. Its so so buttery that it just melts in your mouth... the meat is so tender and the cuts are just amazing. Come here for a culinary experience. You wont be stuffed, but you can be satisfied (plus it leaves room for dessert! ;)). My favorite is actually the wagyu set on the wooden platform tray they serve it on. I actually think one tray is good for 3 people to try since there are 3 ish pieces on each section. This allows you to try other things in their menu. I highly recommend the shiso rice - its so good and fluffy! Yes, this place is pricy, but you are here for high quality meat, not the cheaper meat that is designed to be AYCE.Service is sometimes hit or miss when Im here, hence the 3 stars. In addition, the ventilation in here is not great. It gets smoky which is really weird in a BBQ place... would think ventilation wouldve been better with their experience.Easy to park lot.
Bites and Bashes Catering

Their food is good but not excellent. Their CATERING SIDE OF THEEEE OPERATION is a different story however : Someone was interviewed and hired on the spot by Kim, the H.R. Manager but but but Crystal Coser said, well basically UN-hired someone because this person had A broken tooth veneer and 1 Dental tooth extraction on order to prepare for an implant. The tooth that had to be extracted was in the upper right quadrant, and yes it was visible, agreed. The other broken veneer was not to visible due to its location. Both teeth which was in the process of been repaired, been prepped for a replacement. So beeeecause of the simple fact that someone had a broken tooth veneer and a necessary extraction : as in a gap in the upper front area this was theee cause for Crystal to over-write Kim and UN-hire someone beeecause of a dental gap and broken Veneer. This person did have a gap on the front area, yes, agreed..This was during COVID-19s strick Facemasks policy established by the Los Angeles county Department of Public Health in which Facemask were mandatory by restaurants and Catering company employees. so if FACEMASKS were going to be involved before, during and after catering events ( as well as restaurants ). Why would Crystal Coser basically terminate someone because of A broken Dental Veneer ? I guess she is CONCERNED about thee image of HER COMPANY : about A broken Dental Veneer and an extracted tooth that will make HER COMPANY look bad eventhough COVID19 FACEMASKS would would cover the smiley face area she is concerned about... Crystal Coser how do YOU feel about YOUR IMAGINE NOW...???THERE is more, Since Crystal Coser UN-hired someone, this dedicated person would call, text and send Emails in order to book shifts with Bites and Bashes Crystal Cosers Catering Company. This went in for 2 Months. Guess what ?? There were no no NO returned calls, emails or texts. No type of communication from Bites and Bashes Catering. No Texts, calls, emails, radio traffic, Shortwave radio, satellite phone, CB, Telex, Fax, 2 way radio, Chirp Commo, smoke signals, Mirror signals, or messenger pichons. Nothing nothing telling this person something like Sorry, I Crystal Coser changed my mind So i told Kim my H.R. manager not to book you for any events . As a common courtesy at least tell someone they were UN-hired instead of this dedicated person stopped looking for work THINKING I GOT A JOB, I will just wait until THEY text me for events I can work Does Crystal Coser write BIAS-ED reviews due to the way a prep cook or line cook or a waitress / waiter / server looks like a bad car accident, or someone got burned during a house fire or A survivor of the Killing Fields Of Cambodia or A failed assassination attempt by North Korean Agents...Crystal Coser is also a co-editor for EaterLA...Discrimination is not only UN-ethical but is also ILLEGAL Crystal Coser...HOPE-FULLY you the readers will wonder what she does behind closed door regarding Catering and her little cafe in Lomita with matching name :Bites n Bashes Cafe and Catering25600 Narbonne AvenueLomita, CA. 90717THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME...
King Poke

This is my #1 Poke place. It's a bit far from my place (~20 min drive one way) so I tried different places closer by to see if I can find a different place to frequent regularly, but I still haven't found a better-tasting poke bowl anywhere! It hasn't always been fresh, given the different factors such as the to-go time, the time of the day, the summer heat, different skill levels of different cooks, etc. BUT, when they are fresh, I experience a little taste of heaven! I have taken a friend from Hawaii there and she told me it's better here than in Hawaii, and other friends and family all agree on how delicious they are. Their food is so me that I am so eager to share with people around me as much as possible. I think the times when it was most fresh was when they just opened, around 11:30am on Saturdays. I even go here alone when I crave poke bowl. I literally adore and cherish their food. I also usually get taco and California roll on the side and they are good too. I would go early, and if possible, just eat there right away. I guess it suits my Korean palate as I am used to eating bibimbap and the sauce is perfectly balanced, with the sesame oil and toppings all going so well together that there is a party in my mouth every time! The first few bites are just…you have to find out yourself! I can have more fish and less rice but that's just me. It's already perfect as it is. It's rare to come across food that brings pure joy and I'm just so grateful for the experiences. ?
Suki Time Thai Kitchen

I ordered via website which offered free delivery. Within 5 minutes of the order, I received a call from the restaurant saying they were in the weeds and didnt have certain items. I was okay with the substitutions and the fact that it would be an hour for delivery. It was 2 hours later that we received our food and it was the first time I received food that was inedible--not all but one dish in particular. Do not order anything with beef from this restaurant. There is no quality control. I have never not been able to eat the beef from any restaurant before but this beef was full of grisle and inedible. I called several times during the second hour to see if my food was actually coming. No one answered the phone. EVER. I left messages and received a free thai ice tea and an apology. Was this worth it. NO! I am sad considering the number of great reviews.
