Yaedam Korean BBQ
1428 Contra Costa Blvd, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523, United States
OK, First things first. The food...Flippin AMAZING!I might be biased because Im Korean but seriously, the food is delicious. This place used to be a different Korean restaurant pre-pandemic but everythings new/different/changed now and this is yet another example.Back to the food...The banchan is well done and flavorful and has authentic flavors that is really hard to do well. The Kim Chee Jigae is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!! The richness of flavor without being over salted is what surprised me. They also had a korean beer that I never had before so that was pretty cool. You know I had to order the Kal Bi too. That was super good as well. The manager/owner said that an order would feed 1 and a half people but we found that itll easily feed 2 and in our case they brought out 4 decent sized ribs and it fed all 4 of us. Granted 2 of my party were little ones (actually 1 little one and my teenage son who could put away the groceries). One of the issues I had was that things I asked for didnt show up and I had to either ask multiple times for them or the wrong thing showed up. Eventually I asked to cancel a couple items off our order. If it werent for that I would absolutely give this a 5 star review. In the end it wasnt a big deal but I can see these things being exacerbated during high volume times like Friday or Saturday evenings. With that being said I think its a 4.5 star place.Well done, authentic Korean food is hard to do and good places are a rarity. I would be more than happy to drive an hour to come back with my family or wife on a date night/cruise.Support your local korean restaurant, give this place a try (just not on Friday or Sat night lol).

Moa Korean BBQ Restaurant
508 Contra Costa Blvd # Q, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523, United States
Plain jane exterior belies the beauty of its cuisine. So, where do you eat after a doctors appointment in Walnut Creek? You go out to Pleasant Hill to enjoy some Korean BBQ. Storefront says, Go eat somewhere else Food says, Yeah, youve come to the right place for Korean food. My wife orders Kalbi lunch and I have Bulgogi. Lots of side dishes that are traditional come out as an accompaniment to the main course like Kim chee, fish cake, daikon. The surprise side dish is chap jae, a clear noodle dish which is delicious. Main dish comes out and there is a superior amount of kalbi when comparing to other Korean restaurants. This place served eight pieces for a lunch combination which is at bare minimum two more pieces than other Korean restaurants. Bulgogi was juicy and tender and I shared the abundance of meat with my wife. That being done, there was a complete meal left over for our daughter to eat for her lunch ?. All in all a very good experience with low prices and plenty of food. Cheers!

They were a lot busier than I expected them to be. I usually go to the Korean place next door, but I decided to try outs pho Lee HOA that instead that day. They were a good Pho place, but I didnt see anything in particular that set them apart. I would probably still just go to MOA restaurant which is the Korean place next door.

Ohana Hawaiian BBQ Pleasant Hill
2370 Monument Blvd #2A, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523, United States
So I happened upon Ohana While shopping with mom who is pretty picky when it comes to food . I ordered the mixed bbq which came with 3 big fried shrimp a piece of fried fish and strips of beef . The shrimp were really good having been cooked to order and were actually still too hot to eat at first . Too few fast food places can pull this off . The fish didnt really have alot of flavor, but then I realized they also have hot sauce ready to go . This elevated the whole meal . I liked the beef except it was a little fatty . The sauce was sriracha based . My mom got and bowl of rice, veggies and the same beef I got which she didnt care for (fattiness) . Could have benefitted by adding a cup or two of veggies, rather than the 3 oz that it came with I would recommend this place very highly after being there only once . Time to try something else on the menu .

Matsu Sushi Japanese Restaurant
1914 Contra Costa Blvd, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523, United States
This place used to be a lot better. But, this time the beef teriyaki was tasteless and the consistency of the meat was as if it had fake burn marks, reheated then had cheap bottled sauce poured over it. The tea was cold and it was hard to get their attention to get refills. On top of that they charged us for the tea. Most Japanese restaurants include it with meals. My wife had teriyaki salmon and that was just ok, as she has certainly had better both there and elsewhere. Maybe it was a bad night or a bad cook, so it is fair to say you can give them the benefit of the doubt. In the staffs defense they did try to accommodate us and showed us that the meat was indeed fresh. At first they blamed it on a new cook, then reversed their story and said the cook had been there for years. Then they told us different cooks mixed up different sauces...whatever. To their credit in a show of good faith they did give us a discount that cancelled out the tea, and I appreciated their gesture. It still does not take way the fact the food was below the standard of what I had eaten there before. However it was certainly edible mixed with soy sauce, ginger, and wasabi. Bottom line: there are a lot of Japanese restaurants out there we have left to try, so Im scratching this one off my list...not terrible, but certainly not great.
