Ohana BBQ
11269 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, CA 91604, United States
This place hands down sucks. Two plates of food 45$ and doesnt even come w/ a drink. Thats another 5$. The owner was hella grouchy when he took our order after we told him we were first timers and he didnt even care to help us. The only thing he cared about, was his pen after signing for the bill. The food was aweful. The worst hawaiian food ever. The chicken Katsu was over burnt and the beef is not Rib eye. The only good thing was the chili sauce. I was so disappointed reading about these guys having a 4.6 rating and I was born and raised in Hawaii to know about Hawaiian food. I ended up throwing my whole plate of food away after 2 bites. You should be ashamed for ripping off your customers and ruining the Hawaiian name. Mightest have just said its a straight Korean restaurant.

For such a small restaurant in a strip mall, this family owned Korean restaurant puts a good deal of love into their food and atmosphere. But if you’re looking for a proper dining experience, it’s too casual maybe. The food is excellent and wonderful for take away and cute for a relaxed meal with video screens. It’s authentic and delicious. They’re too small to have everything but great banchan and amazing chicken! Love their soup and boolgogi. And for sure don’t miss their kimchi pancakes.
Studio City Farmers Market
2052 Ventura Pl, Studio City, CA 91604, United States
Okay but not what I personally wantedThe farmers here didn't have a complete selection of the fruit/veggies that I wanted and was able to find at the Encino Farmers Market (on Sundays on Victory Blvd.) A lot of commercial vendors and restaurants made it feel like it wasn't very country-ish or farmy...more like a city carnival. Adding to this carnival atmosphere were actual carnival style activities for the kids. While this might not bother some people, particularly families with small children, it disappointed me because I was looking forward to experiencing a small slice of country farms away from city life—which was missing here for me.It is situated near a Whole Foods Market and a Trader Joe's which made it an easy convenient grocery shopping trip. ?My experience here wasn't what I was looking forward to but you might find it to be five star experience if you have different expectations that fit what I described here. So in all fairness I can't give it a poor rating. It isn't bad, just not what I personally wanted.
Sharkys Woodfired Mexican Grill
12905 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, CA 91604, United States
I generally dont leave reviews, but this place was a breath of fresh air and worth taking the time to review. They employees were incredibly courteous, and they have great, affordable Mexican cuisine. We were staying at a hotel about a block away and made the mistake of ordering an insanely overpriced breakfast room service. The next morning we walked down the street and found this place, and sincerely enjoyed our breakfast that was half the price of the hotel breakfast, but more than twice as delicious! I especially loved the salsa bar to spice up my eggs. We enjoyed it so much, we came back for dinner after a fun-filled but exhausting trip to Universal Studios, and my steak tacos were fantastic! My husband ordered the nachos, which included probably over a pound of chips and toppings! Wowzers. My daughter got salmon with her meal although it was slightly on the fishy side, so I wouldnt recommend the salmon. All other menu items we tried were spot on. Some of the employees even recognized us and asked us how our trip to Universal was, which was unexpected because a lot of patrons pass through their doors, but appreciated. It was a nice, relaxing, clean, fun atmosphere, and the food was quick yet delicious and very fresh. Id say its similar food to a Chipotle or Qdoba, but with more personality, in my opinion. If were ever in the area again, well definitely eat here again.
Black Market Liquor Bar - Studio City Restauran...
11915 Ventura Blvd, Studio City, CA 91604, United States
We went on Saturday as this place was in my list of restaurants to visit it looked in pics very nice inside, the bar area, ceiling and fans are very cool, but thats it. The menu for was ok with lack of variety in the main plates so we only ordered some plates to share. The spicy Korean wings were delicious, the shrimp with aioli were not my favorite way too seasoned and the aioli didnt really go with the dish, it would have been better to have a lighter dressing or just a lemon. Mussels were a disappointment, the sauce was way too greasy and heavy (usually we enjoy mussels and dip the bread in the sauce, well this was not the case, we both hated it) Service was bad and slow, we were waiting for our drinks and there was a bartender absolutely enjoying il dolce far niente, only one guy was really doing his job. Maybe our waiter forgot our order, dont know. We had to wait between dishes when we ordered 3 small dishes to share, they didnt bring a clean plate after the messy but delicious K-wings, had to ask for clean silverware, didnt take the empty glasses on our table. The Strawberry cocktail was really good(red hot and unbothered), we ordered 2. The ginger cocktail (son of a beesting) -not my favorite- but the ginger candy was really good. Martini was good just as ordered(dirty and extra dry), no martini glasses but in a small glass that when my husband moved it to drink it got spilled on the table). The sticky toffee pudding was good. Bill for 3 plates to share, 3 cocktails and dessert $139. My reviews are always based on price, service, food and place/vibe. Wont come back.
Rice Wok
4360 Laurel Canyon Blvd, Studio City, CA 91604, United States
It is ho-hum Chinese food. Ordered lunch special with Kung-Pao chicken, which included soup, eggroll & soft drink. I wanted hot-n-sour soup. It was neither hot nor sour. The vegetables in it were extremely under-cooked and it was not even hot, temperature wise. Egg roll was a spring roll with vegetables nearly raw inside. Ordered a diet Coke to drink and realized it tasted more like club soda than a Coke. Kung-Pao chichken I know is a spicy dish. Their version is NOT. And I am not sure if it is because it is the lunch special but, I had to look for chicken pieces in the mush they served under this name. Fried rice was okay but not much fried with anything. 2 pieces of eggs I was able to find in a pint size bowl of fried rice. I dont believe I will be a regular customer of this joint, even though it is one of the very few places within walking distance from my work.
Yen Sushi & Sake Bar
12930 Ventura Blvd APT 120, Studio City, CA 91604, United States
I went here two days ago while visiting a friend in the Long Beach area. Yen has several other locations, including the one near my home in Studio City. The first thing I noticed when I got here was that this was a Korean owned franchise. Oh no. The menu consisted mainly of contemporary fancy rolls, as well as some other basic Japanese food that anybody can learn to cook really. Anyways, I gave the food a shot.I ordered yellowtail, albacore, and spanish mackerel nigiri sushi. Then my friend got a soft shell crab and salmon roll. After having tried a piece of everything, I concluded that the food here is 3 stars. Its not bad sushi like Todai or Sushi Mac. Its even a tad better than Mon, which is another Korean owned sushi franchise. Its just not on the same freshness/taste level as Noshi Sushi, Sushi Gen, Yotsuya, or even Oomasa. The rolls themselves were just okay too.Sure, the restaurant interior is nice, clean, and good for friendship outings. But if you want something great tasting, dont drive out of your way to eat here. Its not all that spectacular. I guess now I now how the Studio City location probably tastes like.
