Far East Joint

First time to this restaurant with a party of six because it was the only restaurant open for dine in and it was the best choice we ever made. The service was excellent, they were COVID-19 prepared and ready to serve the public. They not only wore masks but they also gave us a spray of hand sanitizer just to be safe for each of us and were quite friendly to say the least. Each of us ordered different items such as the Hawaiian spam sliders which were excellent along with the chicken Katsu curry and the wings and the Korean BBQ plate. In my opinion the talent for these specialties were awesome and I am impressed to say the least. So sorry we live far away but when we return back to West Covina we will return back to this restaurant.

This place definitely should have over 5 stars! Absolutely delicious and the service by Michelle was way over the top. She was very delightful and very helpful. And my girlfriend and I both had our meals that were way better than any average Korean restaurant. We really enjoyed our experience here and we highly recommend anyone to come try a very tasty Korean food with awesome service. Thank you!
Namu Kitchen
1025 S Glendora Ave, West Covina, CA 91790, United States
Just opened weeks ago. Quality food, made with care. Sizable portions. Space is modern and cozy at the same time. Location is formerly one of the Myung Dong restaurants, now reinvented by younger members of the family.Ended up sharing all the dishes family style. Lots of “Yum!” and “Mmm!” from my daughter. Dweji Gomtang (pork broth) was a flavor bomb and the favorite for me and my wife. Korean fried chicken with large and tender pieces that were satisfying. The thick brioche French toast became dessert for the 4 of us. Soft and fluffy on the inside and caramelized and crispy on the outside.Kids got lucky and were given 2 heart balloons from the presumed owner/co-owner. They were very happy.Would check it out before Haven City opens and the parking gets cra cra!

Many changes after the pandemic n many new restaurants has been popping up. This is one of the gem in this neighborhood.Dont judge by what you think, give Sean a try n give your own score. We came here for my wifes bday. Both satisfied, happy customers. Thx to Sean & his team!Heres a history lesson: Koreans were introduced to sushi in 1910, when Japan annexed. Its one of their culture dishes nowadays.
One Veg World
178 S Glendora Ave, West Covina, CA 91790, United States
Today was my first time at One Veg World. I came in on a Wednesday night around 8pm. The restaurant was not too crowded and had nice dim lighting. I ate the Korean Tacos, recommended by my server. They were really flavorful and the perfect portion for me. The sauce was a little spicy and complimented the vegan beef and cabbage well. I also took a cheesecake to go but will be trying it later on. Overall very impressed for my first time, and I will be returning if I am ever in the area again. Thank you!
Tokyo Central
1420 S Azusa Ave, West Covina, CA 91791, United States
Tokyo Central at West Covina is the market I must go to every month, at least once per two months after I moved from Glendora to Pasadena. I love it.Its 7 years ago, and I permanently moved from Shanghai to LA, I visited almost all the Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thailand, and Philippines markets but I was not satisfied. I am a professional amateur chef, I need good materials. Yes, I found most seasoning, raw food, cookware, dishware, and tools in the markets, but I was not satisfied until I found Tokyo Central randomly. It filled in the blank part of my requirement. Why am I saying that? Tokyo Central always has the best quality foods. For example, the rice, I could find good rice in other Asian markets but Tokyo Central in 2016. The Nishiki rice from Japan was so soft and so good. The pity is that the Nishiki rice became a Product of UAA since COVID, became much worse than before. Nowadays, I still dont have good rice to eat.Tokyo Central has a big canteen just beside the entrance, you can buy the food, sit and eat them in the canteen. The canteen provides seasoning sauces like ketchup and soy sauce, tempura sauce, etc. It also provides a microwave oven, cold and hot water, forks, knives, and chopsticks. You can warm your food there and enjoy them, very convenient.Tokyo Central also provides buffet-to-weight foods, not too many options, around 20 kinds but very balanced. There were tempuras, fried chicken, fish, vegetables, takoyaki, okonomiyaki, yakisoba(fried noodles), and rice. The buffet station was closed for several months by the pandemic as well as the canteen. Now some of the buffets changed to prepacked and some are still pick-as-you-want.There is also plenty of sushi, rice ball, bento, Japanese style desserts, Japanese style cakes, all you can eat in the canteen after paying them through the counter. I love those onigiris (triangle rice balls) even though the price is getting higher and higher recently. It looks like they shorten the opening time of the canteen after the pandemic, I didnt get the chance to have lunch there several times.I think I know Japanese food well, and I cook them well. I think I am qualified to say that since I translated one Japanese food dictionary and one Japanese cookbook. I can get most raw food from Tokyo Central when Id like to cook Japanese food. I can get okonomiyaki powder and sauce there, as well as takoyaki powder and sauce. I can get various Japanese seasoning sauces there as well as thin and thick noodles. The raw fishes for sashimi, are good. The premium beef is good. Also, the bags of Japanese pickles, are authentic and delicious.(to be continued)
The Ice Bar
350 S Glendora Ave, West Covina, CA 91790, United States
First, thank for staying open during the times indicated by your store hours even though there wasnt any business. SO many times Ive driven to restaurants that are supposed to be open late but close early due to lack of customers .. So infuriating! The owner served us and he was so patient in explaining our choices and what people usually like. I got the Korean pear with blueberry. They hand-squeeze the gel and use tweezers to put on each type of mint- WOW! They make it look like an art form. It tasted like iced Korean pear, and the blueberry gave it more of a kick. They even had blueberries frozen inside! My favorite was the calpico gel though.. MmmMMm. It really tasted like calpico! My boyfriend got the nutella and banana. It was REALLY good as well, and the sweetest bar they have (although its not overwhelmingly sweet). So each bite consisted of this creamy banana, drizzle of nutella gel, and the crunch of the banana chips on top. REALLY good. And the banana tasted like a real banana, not some processed fruit. We sampled the horchata ice cream too and it was so good as well. However, my dessert stomach isnt as big as my regular-food stomach, so I had to choose between ice cream or a bar.BUT my boyfriends dessert stomach is pretty big, so after getting his nutella and banana bar, he got one more. It was the mango and strawberry(?) one I believe. It made my relive my lucas-eating childhood, where we would spend recesses trying to squeeze and eat all the lucas hairs out of those lucas containers. I really like how tangy this bar was, yet refreshing with the mango and strawberry base. The décor is really cool and hip. I liked the color scheme and how the bar stools are situated at different heights pertaining to the wall décor. It gives off the same futuristic vibe as the ice cream lab. I KNOW this place is going to blow up soon, sooo come NOW before the line becomes regularly out the door!
