Shiok Singapore Kitchen
1137 Chestnut St, Menlo Park, CA 94025, United States
I am pleased to have found this restaurant. Two other Singapore/Malaysian restaurants in the area that I liked have closed. The food is flavorful and delightfully spicy. Service is good, decore is nice. I have been here twice for lunch, the restaurant is occupied but not crowded.

From the name Dosa Point we though their Dosa would be the best item on thei menu. But Dosa was terrible. The oil they used was rancid and smelling bad. Dosa paper tested very different than what it should, it was definitely not the good taste. Mysore Dosa paste (which they apply on Dosa) and potato masala didnt have any taste whatsoever. Madras masala dosa was not any different, same disappointment there. We were not even able to finish our Dosa, it was that bad.Sambhar was overly sweet, and tasted bland & stale. Coconut chutney had overpowering coconut taste, as if they have added some extract to spike up coconut taste. The only thing good on the plate was red chutney.I dont know how this place has good reviews about Dosa. We have many other places in Bay Area which serve great Dosa. I wouldnt recommend this place. Dont go by reviews and spend your money somewhere else.On top of this they charge 15% service charge (which would have been okay if their food was good).Reply to owner's comment:Firstly in my review I clearly mentioned that the 15% service charge would have been fine if your food was good (even acceptable quality). My problem was food taste and quality and that takes major portion my review.Secondly I don't know what full service you are talking about. Server didn't even greet us. We had to ask to turn on light above my table. Food took enormously long, considering there were only 2 other patrons. The bathroom was in a bad condition. And I could go on. I excluded all of these because I was focusing on food quality, but I guess you deserve it.I was honest in my review and clearly explained what things I like / didn't like. I didn't make any personal comment on owners or server's mentality. So perhaps you have a pathetic and narcissistic mentality of not accepting criticism. Focus on your food quality instead of making personal comments and that could help your business. Also please try some dosa places around Sunnyvale, Santa Clara and you will surely know that I don't have any unreasonable expectations.
