This time, I tried the Ultimate Spicy Beef Rice Noodle Soup. The beef was tender, and the soup base was incredibly flavorful. I requested extra spiciness, and it was so good that it made me break a little sweat! I even had some soup leftover to take home, where I added noodles, eggs, and some protein to enjoy later.7/28/2023This was my first time trying their Ultimate Spicy Beef Tripe Rice Noodle Soup, and I opted for a take-out order with regular-sized round noodles, extra spiciness, and a side dish of crispy pork. The highlight of the dish was undoubtedly the flavorful broth. The level of spiciness was perfect for my taste buds, leaving me with a running nose, which complemented the tasty noodles and other ingredients. The crispy pork side dish was a great addition, but I wish it had been a bit crispier. Additionally, a larger portion would have been appreciated.Despite this, the overall experience was fantastic, with efficient take-out service.7/7/2023Fen Classic in Oakland is a culinary gem, offering the delightful Five Blessings Guilin Rice Noodle. Chai Thai Noodles Oakland
545 International Blvd, Oakland, CA 94606, United States
Oakland seems to have a lot of Lao style restaurants and from the lot, Chai Thai Noodles, up until last year, used to be one of my favorite restaurants for noodle soups. It is located next to a park that hosts a homeless encampment so it's not the safest place to be hanging out at least around their closing time. Over a period of time I've tried the Kao Poon (red coconut curry soup, rice noodles, chicken, cabbage and bean sprouts), Kao Soy Thai (yellow noodles topped with yellow curry soup and chicken), Chicken Noodle soup (chicken soup with chicken and noodles) and the Beef Noodle soup. What I really liked was they were able to cook the noodles in such a way that they would not clump-up by the time you reached home and that the soup was a tasty thick curry. My absolute favorite was the Kao Poon. It was like almost eating noodles with a curry dish.Unfortunately something changed and this year the quality seems to have gone significantly downhill. I got the Kao Soy Thai a couple of days back and noticed a couple of differences. The box used to hold the noodles has shrunk to half the size of what it was earlier. As expected the noodles had all clumped together by the time I reached home. They had also simply dumped the crispy noodles on top of the cooked yellow noodles (rather than providing it separately) causing them to absorb all the moisture from the noodles and become soft. The soup was also pretty diluted and you could actually see two different layers in the soup container that needed to be stirred together. Goes without saying I was not happy with what I got. Most of the Noodle soups are around the $10 mark so it's pretty cheap (I think this year some have gone up by a couple of bucks, but it's still pretty cheap). Unfortunately the drop in quality this year has given me reason to look for another place for my noodle soup fix. I may come back and try some of their curries and rice dishes but I'm not inclined to return for the noodle soups any more. I'm averaging out an almost 5 star rating for last year with a solid 2 star rating for this year and settling on an A-OK grade.

HL Noodle Inc

HL Noodles makes awesome noodles! We love their egg noodles, which have the perfect texture. We generally buy a 10 pound bag in bulk and then go home and freeze in smaller serving sizes.
Soba Ichi

Not your average Japanese noodle shop. Texture of hot and cold handmade soba is delightfully different. Broth and appetizers are subtly seasoned (tamagoyaki & fresh tofu). Tempura is crisp and not at all greasy. High quality shrimp. Menu keeps evolving. Sake is pricey.
Dozo Ramen

Dozo RamenLocation: 3415 Grand Ave, Oakland, CA 94610This intimate and cozy restaurant is locate in Grand Lake area, a few blocks away from LakeMerritt. It seats about 30, with small tables and wooden chairs for seats and has an extensive menu for Ramen items. The service is quite good, with about 3 servers who are polite and efficient with cleaning up the empty plates so more can come. This place is so good, that Ive been there a couple times in under a month. Each time we go, we always order the different assortments of meals; Ramen, Bento box, Rice bowl, Yaki Soba. Each dish is seasoned with its own spices and herbs which come out smelling savory and appetizing, unlike other places that use the same seasoning for all dishes. The Miso Ramen are one of my favourites. The Miso is seasoned with a spicy seasoning and done just right. One of my new favorites appetizer (how to forget?!) is the Takoyaki, crispy and right temperature. For last, the dessert enjoyed the most is Warabi Mochi Matcha with vanilla ice cream and matcha jelly to make it something of a dessert. The prices are extremely reasonable compared to similar places in the area and just as good, if not better!Cost: $20/person, no 10% service chargeRating: 5/5

I hate to do this, I almost never leave negative reviews, but my wife ordered a Vegan Pork Belly & Mushroom soup and it had a piece of chicken in it (I like meat and ate it to confirm). It also had really bitter mushroom stalks in it that should have been either part of the soup stock or thrown out, but werent good to eat.I got the Numbing Tan Tan Peanut chicken and it had more shiitake than chicken, and tasted more like hot pot - no peanut flavor at all and very thin broth, and noodles were overcooked and broken. Our friend had Vegan Beef Pho and it was okay, no surprise meat but still not great. Wouldve either not reviewed or given 2 stars if there hadnt been meat in a vegan dish, but I had to be honest because its really important to some folks.Service was good, quick, and honest (they recommended against the Tan Tan, saying it was too spicy, it wasnt but it also wasnt good) so no fault there. Sorry, wish I could be more positive.
3 Seasons Thai Bistro
1506 Leimert Blvd, Oakland, CA 94602, United States
They changed owners I think at the end of 2014 and the new owners, chef and menu is sooo much better than before. Before it was just okay and too pricey now its perfectly priced and delicious. I am glad I tried this place again with the new chef and owner. I am the type of person that orders the same thing every time. I can tell you that these items are always delicious: prawn fried rice, peanut lovers with tofu, and red pumpkin curry. Thai iced tea too. Owners, staff are very nice as well. Some staff dont speak English that well, but im ordering straight off the menu with no special instructions so thats not a problem for me. Prices are good too.

SUPTEA LAB
3349 Grand Ave, Oakland, CA 94610, United States
I am very much a boba connoisseur who has a hobby of trying out different boba shops. I currently have 3 boba shops that I go to for drinks. One in Berkeley, Alameda and now Oakland! I never thought I would find an ube boba drink that would rival Kuboba's ube/taro drink. Yet here supertea lab is to satisfy my cravings and thankfully they are closer to me as I live in Oakland. The shop is clean and bright and the people who run it are eager to make a name for themselves in the boba game. Plus it's right next to my favorite cafe for breakfast and brunch too! One think I appreciate was the option to blend my taro drink which totally elevated it. Normally the texture and flavor is off when i get fresh taro in my drinks which can be off putting. Yet Supertea lab gets it right and the taro is slightly sweet and soft and creamy in texture. The last time I went it was suggested that I blended it and it was such a match made in heaven. It allowed the rich chunks of taro to be fully incorporated into the drink. Plus I added lychee and coconut jelly which compliments the taro in my opinion. I would totally take the taro chunks from this drink and bake a yummy taro pie with it. Also their calamari is flavorful with the perfect crunch and portion size. This menu is reasonable priced too. One thing I would suggest is to stir fry the house boba in brown sugar to allow for a softer and more flavorful tapioca pearl experience. Otherwise I'll definitely be bringing my roommates and friends to this spot when we are in the area. Kudos to supertea lab and see y'all soon.
