Pick Up Stix Fresh Asian Flavors
2090 N Bellflower Blvd Suite B, Long Beach, CA 90815, United States
Went here for dinner with my husband on a Sunday night for dinner. Service was okay, but after we bagged our leftovers up is when things took a very disgusting turn. When we were getting ready to leave we noticed 3 Giant cockroaches crawling across the front of their front counter. Meanless to say we threw our leftovers in the garbage. The manager on duty was afraid of the cockroaches we found and a male employee chased the cockroaches into the dining room area to kill them. We will not be returning as a result to this location. Insects only show up when proper cleaning is not being done, since cockroaches look for food sources before they start to infest. This location needs better pest management to avoid cockroach infestations.Update: The VP of Operations Ben reached out to us and made things right, by providing us with a full refund due to our bad experience.

Khmer Town Chinese Food & BBQ
1569 E Anaheim St A, Long Beach, CA 90813, United States
Newly opened Chinese restaurant. We got the recommendation from a friend to try the roasted duck. The duck skin was crispy and the meat tasted moist and tender. $30 a roasted duck is a pretty reasonable price. The bbq sauce and the other one with sweet, sour and spicy combination taste are also perfect to dip on.This restaurant serves fast food just like Panda Express so you could try a lot different menus. The space is spacious and clean. The staff were friendly. Overall I recommend it.?Khmer Town Chinese Food & BBQ1569 E. Anaheim Street,Long Beach, CA 90813

Staff were friendly ...ordered several items ..none were Pho noodle (I never eat Pho not cooked by my mom)...since this place is mostly Cambodian, I wanted to try Cambodian food first ...pretty happy ..food good...price decent...I was pretty happy since everything was pretty good ..only thing that bothered me was the greasy lid on the condiment containers...still Ill come again...ok.came back a few more times since 2 years ago..staff still very friendly. I had an issue with my order and they corrected without any bother. Broth is a lot better. Although I think its a lot less than b4. Their spring rolls is a lot better than the sandwich shop next door (dipping sauce and actually roll both better). Came on tues. Very busy but the staff were fast. All in all. Glad this place is here in LB!So been back again..At 7:30 pm on a Friday ..Place is packed .. line out the door ..I had ordered to go over the fone ..Came in thought I would just pay and go ..But no ..I had to also wait in line to pay. Now I am not sure why management did not think to open another register for pickups especially on a busy night and when there were staff standing around with nothing to do?? Still room for improvement since the place is getting popular. Had ordered Pho a few times since last ...But still its only ok. But then I cant help it ..I have my moms pho to compare to.

Pickle Banh Mi Co- Long Beach
1171 E Anaheim St, Long Beach, CA 90813, United States
Update: We keep coming back ❤️ We've gotten the beef soup several times and it always hits just right. Today I was feeling under the weather and decided to try the chicken curry with a baguette. It was perfectly spiced and comforting, and it felt like something a mom or grandma would bring you when you're sick. It actually cheered me up so much. Thanks PickleWe did dine in and ordered two banh mi (lemongrass beef with egg added, grilled pork/bbq pork), pork belly spring rolls, Thai milk tea and Vietnamese coffee.Service:Our drinks were up immediately, sandwiches were ready in less than five minutes and the spring rolls came just a few minutes later so we barely waited at all.Sandwiches:The banh mi were incredible. The bread was super fresh, no dry or stale bites anywhere. It perfectly absorbed the sauces from the meat, which was so flavorful and warm like it just came out of the pan. The veggies and herbs were cold and crisp. I liked how generous they were with the pickled veg and big sprigs of cilantro. The quality of the meat seemed good, a little fatty but not too much (and that can be a taste preference).Rolls:The pork belly spring rolls were amazing. So glad my friend recommended we try these. One order is three big rolls and a huge side of peanut sauce - you could probably get the rolls as a meal if you wanted. The pork belly was amazing, tender and melty with a crunchy sear on top. They have a few pork belly dishes here that I want to come back and try now. The ratio of pork, noodles, veggies and herbs was just right, and the peanut sauce was a great texture for dipping without being too thick. Probably the best spring rolls I've ever had.Overall:We got two sandwiches, three big spring rolls, two drinks, and added a 20% tip for under $50. We even had enough food to bring leftovers home. The food was phenomenal, and my only complaint for the entire experience was that the Thai tea could've been a little stronger, but that's no big deal.FYI, a guy sitting next to us had the Vietnamese beef stew and said it was his third time coming back for it. He told us it reminded him of his best friend's mom's cooking when he was growing up, except even better. So we'll be back for that too. :)

Seabirds Kitchen
975 E 4th St, Long Beach, CA 90802, United States
Im giving them 4 stars even though my carnivorous son hated it. I ordered the brussel sprout side dish, a couple of mushroom tacos, and the bibimbap.I finished off my meal with the Chaffle, hot-out-the-pan waffles covered in cinnamon sugar and served up with a (vegan?) chocolate syrup and vegan vanilla bean ice cream. Oh so good even though the ice cream was icy semi-hard.The brussel sprouts were incredibly delish with the spicy limey sauce. The mushroom tacos were spot on also with a spicey limey flavor. And the bibimbap was also delightful with a spicey limey flavor. You see what Im getting at? By the time I got to the bibimbap I was all spicey-limied out.The bibimbap is what got 1 star removed. I am half Korean and know bibimbap very well. I was expecting KOCHUJANG (that SWEET & spicy bean sauce that makes a bibimbap a bibimbap) to be the sauce in order to balance out all that spicey limey. All I can say is that was NOT kochujang. While I appreciate their culinary artistic flourish I would rather Seabirds serve up a more traditional bibimbap with bean sprouts, spinach instead of warm kale, the sweet/spicy bean sauce, a smaller portion of the fried kimchee (which seemed to overpower the dish) and vegan Korean BBQ beef. Again the dish was delightful but it was pretty far from bibimbap.Oh, and I also ordered a kombucha drink from the tap. It was the best Ive had. Imagine an outstanding kombucha (more concentrated than the grocery store variety) with the consistency of beer (minus the alcohol of course). On my next visit Ill have their veggie burger (with beets). I heard the skinny vegan three tables down just raving about it. The dude was literally salivating; got me curious. My vegan friends think Seabirds is the best ever. My friends who are not vegans have mixed feelings about Seabirds. And the meat eaters, who Im trying to transform in to healthy vegans, HATE it. Its all a matter of perspective.

555 East American Steakhouse
555 E Ocean Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90802, United States
Nye 10:45 reservation. We waited about 20 minutes for a table. Our server was pleasant but perhaps busier than the waiter serving tables next to us. The guests who were seated after we were seated, had their courses delivered at same time as ours were. Why is this important? We had ordered souffle as dessert from the prix fixer menu. We placed this order at time of ordering entree. Around 11:15 pm. Our entree was brought to table around 12:25 am. By the time for dessert, the restaurant only had cheesecake and chocolate torte cake. Being so late, we just wanted to take dessert with us. We asked for 1 cheesecake and 1 chocolate torte...when we arrived home, the rest packed 2 pieces of cheese cake instead of the choc torte. Also, to save time and room in our tummies for the entree, we requested our steakhouse iceburg salads to just be packed to take home. When I opened it today, there was only a tiny slice of tomato, a very small blue cheese dressing, a few crumbles if bacon. Thats barely a salad. Our dinner cost a whopping 269.00 then add on a tip, for a total of 300 plus. I had high expectations of this restaurant. If it was too late to deliver whats ordered off their menu, they shouldnt offer later seating, and we arrived at 10:40pm, How were we leaving after 1am and not have the items we selected? valet parking cost 8.00. Plus a well deserved tip.The good: great festive atmosphere in restaurant. Lovely wine selection. Stags Leap by the glass! Also given a champagne fluke for midnight cheer. Warm bread with tasty butter. Crab cake with tartar sauce was a pleasure, real crab pieces formed this cake that was cooked to have a nice crust. I had Chilean sea bass. Perfectly cooked. Squash medley was the veggie. The seeded center was removed making the squash, firm and beautiful in color. The garlic mash, were a true pommel pure, creamy with an essence of fresh green garlic, I believe . My dining companion had the Wagyu NY strip. Unfortunately, a medium rare was rare, with supposed marbling, being more like strips of uncooked fat throughout the meat. The steak was sent back for further cooking, but it never tastes of the original flavor when recooked. 20.00 was added on for wagyu, we were not informed. Conclusion: we will try this restaurant another day when not an event. Go earlier in the evening.

Thai District

My young son and I went here for his birthday. He loved the food, and so did I. I feel we could have been checked on at least twice while we had our meal, but since we were sitting at the end on the top floor, I feel like we were noticed less (probably because there bigger families and friends grouped together). Nonetheless, during the first check in, our waiter got us what we needed. I ended up using my own napkins I had prepared from home. When I asked for the bill later, I was able to get a couple take away boxes. As we were traveling all the way from China for the day, my son started getting tired fast after a yummy meal!It was Pilar who came to help bus tables who noticed I was trying to keep my son awake while packing takeaway. She got hands-on and offered to help pack the food away. In my own experience of servicing, I feel packing food away and earning an above and beyond tip comes from the server, but I didn't complain when I packed the food away. Pilar, though, went above and beyond here, and on top of it, when figuring out it was my son's birthday, she offered him a cake! That was so nice. Keep in mind she wasn't the one serving us. Perhaps she was a manager. It was an excellent ending to our evening. I believe her involvement made the restaurant visit exceptional when it came to service. If visiting, I recommend trying out the drunken noodles! They were delicious! Go in the evening for a fun chill vibe. :)

Babette Bakery
1404 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach, CA 90813, United States
This place makes phenomenal pastries. The French bread rolls are always a win with the family.I havent been here in some time so I recently visited to get some work done as I waited for my car in the shop across the street. I had a simple coffee, wasn't great but for a couple bucks not worth complaining over about.About an hour later after I tossed my cup one of the attendants asked if I was alright. In Spanish. I may look brown, but my Spanish isn't great. I replied in English and she continued to speak to me in Spanish. I understood what she was saying but felt really disrespected about her assuming my language of understanding.I simply replied yes and thank you (in English).A few minutes later another woman appeared, a manager I presume, and asked if I was going to buy something. I shared that I already purchased a coffee and that I was fine. She nodded and said ok.Another few minutes the same woman came to say I had to leave that their establishment were for paying customers to stay in their dining area. Continued on to say I'm using their electricity and taking up space. Theres no one around me and I am using my own internet and already purchased a coffee. She said sorry its policy that I had to leave.Such a dramatic change in customer service from first arriving then being asked to leave an hour later. There arent any signs posted about hourly purchases or any other statements.Ill say this, if youre ordering to go, awesome but if youre planning on enjoying a morning with a coffee or anything pastry be prepared to be asked to leave once youve cleaned your area. Not likely to return here again. The best Part!!!As I completed the review above I grabbed my things and began walking out. As I am walking out I see a shorter bald man, I have no idea who he is, so I smile and simply say, “have a great day.”As anyone would expect a “thank you, you too,” I received a, “you can't be doing that here.” Completely thrown off by his response I replied, “I'm sorry?”*turned out to be the owner*He continued, “those seats are for paying customers. You can't be camping out here all day!”In shock I respectfully replied,” I simply said have a great day... have a great day. Goodbye.”He mumbled something I didn't care for it but wow.Yes, I will definitely not be doing business with people like this. I hope the best for Babette's, I really do.

Taste wine-beer-kitchen
3506 E Broadway, Long Beach, CA 90803, United States
A small restaurant in the Belmont Heights neighborhood that seats around 34 people, with a long communal table in the center, this is the place you would take a friend for conversation, special event and eventually catch up over the beer and wine they have here.Speaking of which, if you come during happy hour 4-6pm, select wines (1 red, 1 white) are $5 and beers are $2 off. Some of the food selections are cheaper (Its a small menu and its not online). And if you do like the food and beverage selection, like other restaurants, they will have a beer or wine pairing dinner. Like Phamtom Carriage in the past or the Talley Winery in August. The food here for the most part is tapa style, small shareable plates. We tried:Albacore cerviche with the crispy won ton chips-Fresh dish, wished it was a little spicier or saltier, or more acidity. I think Im used to more in your face flavor.Indian Fry Bread-4 crispy pieces of fry bread with honey drizzle over them. The baba ganosh and the garlic dipping sauce was nice add on to this dish.Vietnamese meatballs-7 juicy meatballs with dipping sauce and organic farm greens from Lot59 which is recommended to eat in one bite. Yup, you guessed it, it tasted like Vietnamese pho or Banh Mi with those similar flavor profiles.Pan seared Sea Bass with Ratatouille, Summer Garde Herbs, Green Olive-Celery Relish. Love this dish! Super slight crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside with fresh greens.Berry crumble with pepper ice cream-This dish is not for everyone. All the dishes here have a good balance of salty and sweet here. The pepper ice cream is overpowering and the berry crumble was, well a bit dry and it elevated the ice cream 3 notches in the pepperyness. The menu changes here changes constantly as well as the beer and wine choices. So what you see here might be swapped out when you enter the restaurant. However, popular menu items does get brought back periodically. Also got to try a glass of their tempranillo. Great selection for $8. I do have to say the wine choices here are quite wonderful. The beer selection is about 8 taps. Got to try SinTax from Mother Earth and it was on Nitro as well as the Alpha Galactic from Beachwood. Gotta support local, ya know? They do have a cider too here when I was here and it was called Moonlight Meadery. It was yeasty and tasted like a Berliner instead of a cider which I liked! Finally, I like to say the staff here is superb. Anthony and Garrett knows the menu super well and takes great care of you.The bathroom here is beyond the red door and is super big and clean.4 1/2 for the food and 5 star for the service. Parking is free on the streets. Great place to hang out with time friends. Oh, please note that I was invited here as a guest to try these food and my opinions reflect that of a regular customer. I will have to come back again!

S.T. Noodle Bar
4152 Norse Way, Long Beach, CA 90808, United States
I got an STD here.Simply Thai DeliciousnessS T Noodle Bar, from the people that brought you Sweetee Thai (hence the ST), is an LA-like hipster Thai eatery serving up flavorful authentic Thai cuisine close to the airport & city college in Long Beach. My belly screamed Thai food, so I decided to venture to S T Noodle Bar for the first time.Lunch specials offers great bang for the buck, but I already predetermined what I wanted - the khao soi (medium heat, default chicken with beef an extra $1)A warm embrace in a bowl, the khao soi consisted of mild curry, soft & crispy egg noodles, coconut milk, pickled mustard, green & red onions & bean sprouts. After adding all the accoutrement, including all of the chili oil, I dove headfirst into a savory both of heaven. The egg noodles were soft with a slight bite, the beef giving a tough texture to contrast with the rest of ingredients. The crispy egg noodles also added crunch, until they soaked up all that rick coconut milk curry broth. Not looking like a formidable foe, the dish proved quite filling & took awhile to consume. The heat level was perfect for my preference. Not enough to dull my tastebuds to the point where I couldnt taste anything, but spicy enough to make my bald head perspire and my underboob sweat make it look as though I was lactating. A tremendous dish & a must get.Service was good. The women were hospitable and quick. Tables, including a long communal table, are available. I was sat in the best area in my opinion, the front porch. Several windows made the porch seem like I was dining al fresco, with cool breezes enveloping me as I polished off my bowl of khao soi.Parking is rather tough, with street parking & a few lots in the back. I lucked out and found a spot on Lakewood Blvd., in front of a dental office. Try going during off hours, if possible. The unisex restroom has a urinal with a small monitor on it. Unusual, but I guess its great entertainment as I tinkle. Although, being a non-flushing urinal, it didnt smell kosher.ST = Scrumpious Thai food. S T Noodle Bar is a great Thai restaurant in a city swarming with Thai restaurants. Im intriqued with their papaya pad thai, and perhaps will have that on my next visit. But, how can I not get khao soi, since it was so delicious? Tough decisions, but decisions that I relish having. Thai food, done well.Highly recommend!NOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM
