Hometown Restaurant
5394 Walnut Ave, Irvine, CA 92604, United States
This Chinese Shanghainese restaurant is really good and cheap. I heard that it recently replaced an old oil pan. The fried pan-fried buns and sesame pancakes are so popular, loved by both young and old?.

Tasty Noodle House - Irvine
15333 Culver Dr #320, Irvine, CA 92604, United States
Best Shanghainese dim sum in OC and LA. Totally beats most restaurants in San Gabriel Valley. Their pan fried pork buns are the most authentic you can find in the area. Servers speak English and are very friendly. May be the service has improved since some of the negative reviews two years ago. I love this place!!!

Decided to check this place out with a friend of mine a few weeks ago. Came in to a very good crowd and was greeted promptly by the hosts and were escorted to our table. After we were seated our server Jess came over to greet us and we asked her to surprise us with two cocktails and she returned with a Mai Tai and Passion of the Spritz. She was on point with both drinks. Moving on to the food we started with the calamari and the goat cheese stuffed artichoke flowers which were absolutely delicious. As we were enjoying our appetizers Natasha the manager came over to do a friendly greeting and asked us if everything was to our liking which we nodded our heads to because we had a mouthful. We asked if we could place our entree order through her to which replied absolutely and asked if we had any questions. Being our first time there I asked her what she recommended and she immediately recommended the Braised Short Ribs and the Shrimp Pho Burger. We went with her suggestion and after repeating the order back she left and placed our order for us.Once our entrees arrived we were amazed by how delicious it was. The short ribs fell apart so perfectly and the shrimp pho burger tasted just like a shrimp pho which I absolutely love. Jess was really on top of everything and made sure we had a great first time experience. The manager Natasha stopped by a few times at our table to check on us to make sure we had everything we wanted and if we needed anything else. I was amazed by her high level of professionalism as she made her table visits. We were too full to order dessert but next time we come in we will order the pistachio chocolate tiramisu. Overall we had a wonderful experience on our first visit to The Goldfinch and we will definitely go back again because the food and ambiance were amazing.

Jings Kitchen

To be honest, this is the best Shanghai dishes I have ever eaten in the California. I moved from NorCal and tried almost every restaurants which they call themselves the authentic Shanghai food. But all I could say is that they are not good maybe just better than the Panda Express. When I get Irvine, my friends recommended me to try this small kitchen since they know that I am always finding the taste of home. The first time I got there was surprised by the menu cause the dishes are so shanghainese. They know how to cook the pork well!!!!!!!! Strong recommend the pork, which you might couldnt believe that someone could make them soooooooo delicious:) now its always my first choice to pick up for lunch. At last, I need to mention that its a small place which means I suggest you to pick up food instead of dining in. :) anyway, Just ENJOY THE FOOD!!!!!!!!!!! Its the best Shanghainese restaurant I do believe.
