Olive Garden Italian Restaurant
3400 Clares St, Capitola, CA 95010, United States
I Am so glad a Olive Garden came to our town. It a beautiful restaurant, great food and friendly staff. I have eaten at Olive Garden, Capitola several times now. Lunch and dinner. My only complaint is that the yummy hot bread is served 10 or so minutes after the Soup and salad are served. Today I had finished my soup and still no bread. I waited for my bread before I started my salad and meal. The bread is so yummy eating it with your meal. Our waiter said the restaurant doesn’t hire anyone to bake the bread that each waiter puts his order in the oven and delivers it to the table. I don’t know if this is true but it would sure be nice to get the bread served with the soup and Salad. I will still be a customer.
Eriks DeliCaf

Love Eriks deli. Always good quality sandwiches and friendly staff!Great soup too. I mostly go to the capitola location since it is next door to my office, but I frequently visit Scotts valley, downtown, and Santa Cruz locations as well, and they are all consistent. The salads are made fresh with many ingredients to choose from, I always give very specific instructions when I have mine made, and they do a great job. Made to order sandwiches are always good, again with fresh and natural ingredients. I wish they had sliced pickles because i love pickles but they do have pickle spears. If you order to est in they will give you your drink in a Mason jar but order to go comes in a paper cup.The Scotts valley location is really cool with all of the 1800s wild west decorations, and all the other locations have cool decoration too but not as much.Good place to go and support local business.

I was down in Capitola pulling my buisness liscense for a roofing project. I decided before I get back on the road I will head down the street to find something to eat. I was glad I did! The owner ! Many people go into buisness, very few are in it 100% The owner was working the cash register talking to a couple of regular customers about the salads and prepackaged ready to bake/cook halibut, tritrip, chicken, pancetta wrapped with bacon stuffed with goodness. I cant do this place justice by just naming only a few of the things they sell. I advise people to try this place! YUMMY! The sandwiches are awesome along with the close knit staff. I was intrigued that the owners dog Reef was a huge influence on the owners establishment. With pictures on the wall with his dog Reef out on the waves like his owner, surfing away a day back in time. It was really a blessing to find this place and to see the owner in love with his buisness and what he does. I WISH I COULD HAVE MET REEF. If you want to find out what a good dog is and owner and food stop by Reefs!!!!!!
Shadowbrook Restaurant
1750 Wharf Rd, Capitola, CA 95010, United States
You’re in for a real treat… what an experience this historical gem is. From the moment you step foot in the trolley you know it’s going to be a experience. When you walk into the restaurant you just want to take it all in and wander the restaurant… you’re instantly warmly greeted. As you’re walked to your seat you get to peak at the restaurant’s aesthetics and the ambiance is truly magical. I loved all the old pictures on display and the cute lights and not to forget the outdoor seating is absolutely beautiful too… but it was on the chilly side for us so we opted to sit inside. Our server, Eli was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable on everything in the menu and made great suggestions. We started with the Shadowbrook house salad with bacon wrapped prawns. It was delicious. We also ordered both soups. My fiancé enjoyed the creamy artichoke but we both agreed the clam chowder was hands down the best one. It is up there with possibly being the best clam chowder we’ve had. My fiancé had a Ginger Manhattan for his first drink, then the ultimate side car they were both good but I think he enjoyed the ultimate side car a bit more. We also had the butchers filet and it was perfection. Honestly all the flavors blended so well together I wish I was having a bite right now. We also had a coffee crunch pie I don’t remember exactly what it was called but it was yummy if you enjoy coffee you’ll love this dessert as much as my fiancé did. I also had to try the hot pear cider and it was so delicious. We then went to explore the restaurant a little and we’re just in awe of its beauty. We sat at the bar and I had another hot pear cider and my fiancé had a New Orleans Sazerac as a night cap. This restaurant is for the books and we can’t wait to go back when we visit Capitola.

Great environment to eat at. The restraunt looks like a downtown high rise loft, and it goes further with their home made foods and homey feeling kitchen. It just feels and tastes home made, which to me is a good thing. Definitely does not at all feel or taste generic or food chain like. I tried one of the craft sodas, not my thing, but just adds to the unique style that you should expect. I ordered the Spaghetti and Meatball and I got to say, as a thin spaghetti lover, thick noodles are the only way I will accept my spaghetti now. Just amazing flavor and the texture just meshes so well that I am flabbergasted more restaurants dont use thick boi noodles in their spaghetti. The meatballs were good and ginormous. I wasnt a huge fan of them, but they have a good taste to them, and the sauce just makes it that much better. Tables inside are nicely spaced and it felt like they are doing well keeping up with covid standards. Wish I would have ordered some spaghetti to go, it was that good. You could share it, but I was able to finish the whole thing and Im not the biggest eater. All and all, a wonderful dining experience and I would happily come back and try their burger, my friend ordered it and it looked AMAZING. Carmalized onions is the only true way to eat a burger.
Affordable Chef Services LLC
1871 43rd Ave, Capitola, CA 95010, United States
My son lives in Santa Cruz and was getting married in August. I was in charge of the rehearsal dinner. I didnt start looking for venue until the end of May. I was panicking because I wasnt having any luck on such short notice. Reluctantly, I decided to have the dinner at the house I was renting on the beach. A house I had never seen. I searched the Internet and found Chef Marks website. Afraid that I would come up against another, no, we cant help you on such short notice, I called Mark with my fingers crossed hoping he would be my Hero. My needs were a little more complicated than just needing some food on a specific date. I also needed a menu for my vegetarian and gluten free guest, as well as, a satisfying selection for my meat eaters. Did I mention, to top it off, I hadnt seen the house I was renting except in pictures? In steps my Hero. Not only was his fresh menu ideas not your typical catered affair food; he went to the house to view it for me to make sure it would accommodate 25 people. He also, transformed the house to fulfill my vision of a casual, yet elegant indoor barbecue! He met me at the house when I got to town to assure me he had everything under control. That evening when we came back from the wedding rehearsal, his staff had transformed the great room into a beautiful dining room with white lines, glass ware, china and the gorgeous flower arrangements I chose for the tables. All overlooking the ocean view. The staff started by walking around offering appetizers and ran the show all evening, including pouring the champagne for the toast at the end of the night. Everyone raved about the food and how beautiful everything looked.Mark took what could have been a very stressful situation for this out of state, Mother of the Groom, and made me look like a rock star! I have been raving about the Affordable Chef to everyone who has asked about the wedding. I attend catered events frequently in my line of work. Marks food and service were one of the best Ive had. THANK YOU AFFORDABLE CHEF! You customer service skills are exemplary and its proof you love what you do!
Gayles Bakery & Rosticceria
504 Bay Ave, Capitola, CA 95010, United States
Have been coming to Gayles since I was a little kid. Its always a delicious treat to stop in when Im in the area. They are a family favorite and a community staple. Its been wonderful watching them grow over the years. When I was younger they didnt have the covered/heated patio, nor did they have live music. Last time I stopped in they had a jazz band playing inside the warm and cozy patio and it was fantastic. Its good to come early in the day before they run out of items in the evenings. They can be very popular throughout the day. Come in and grab a number from their ticket machine by the door, and wait for your number to be called after having browsed their delights. My personal go-to pastry items include their Bear Claws, Maple Pecan Crocodiles, Marionberry Turnovers, and their Pecan Schnecken. The Marionberry Turnovers are great if you have a sweet-tooth like me. The Crocodiles really show off their baking skills in my opinion, and are super tasty. My go-to deli items are their Balsamic Citrus Glazed Quarter Chicken and Spinach Gorgonzola Pasta (vegetarian). Or if youre catching breakfast, their Scrambled Egg Croissants (vegetarian) are delicious. They do a huge variety of salads and sandwiches as well. Their soup rotation is also amazing.Dont let my suggestions limit you though, they have so much more to choose from that will satisfy nearly any palate. They make cookies, pies and cakes as well, and will do personalized cakes for parties too.Theres something extraordinarily unique about how Gayles does their pastries, specifically their breads and crusts, no joke. Its always a perfectly warm taste of home thats just right. That perfect Maillard reaction...If youre in the Santa Cruz area at all you need to grab some Gayles.
Avenue Cafe
427 Capitola Ave, Capitola, CA 95010, United States
April 2, 2023.Based on some new posts about the Avenue Cafe in Capitola by the Police station we decided to try late breakfast on the way home from Costco. When they changed hands about 2 1/2 years ago, we gave them 3 tries, and decided never to go back again. They were amazing, then they were awful. So the good news is that service is way better, main parts of meals is mostly better.I ordered smoked salmon and avo eggs Benedict. My wife ordered scrambled eggs and a sausage patty. I took one bite of the hash browns and immediately sent them back expecting to get something edible. Both my wifes and my hasbrowns were basically mush. Like fried mashed potatoes.I poked into my eggs and the yolks were entirely cooked. I summoned a server and she had the audacity to say they are supposed to be like that. Now that is OMG frustrating. Fortunately they came back immediately with properly cooked eggs and the entire dish was delicious. As far as the hash browns, they came back just as bad or worse than before. I talked to the guy who seemed to be in charge and showed him the potatoes, and he apologized and said they should never be like that ever. I was a bit surprised he didnt knock a penny off the bill, but whatever.Just surveying around the establishment, the plates with hashbrowns seemed to have basically uneaten hashbrowns.I dont like home fries, so I try not to go to places that dont do good hashbrowns for breakfast.
New Leaf Community Markets - Capitola
1210 41st Ave, Capitola, CA 95010, United States
Very poor costumer service. I walked out with a pack of ground beef I had just purchased and it fell off the bottom of my cart. I put it on the bottom as my kids were in the cart and I didn't want them touching ground beef. This happened right outside the store in their parking lot and when the package fell off the cart it was still salvageable until a car quickly ran over it unaware! Another woman that witnessed in the parking lot laughed with me because we couldn't believe it just got run over. But I had the receipt (I mean it happened literally one minute after we left the store) so I figured it wouldn't be an issue to pick out another package so went right back in even bringing in part of the ground beef package with a huge tire wheel mark in it and told them what just happened. The store manager informed me they “were not responsible and it didn't happen in their store and didn't happen on their time.”I will say my cashier was super nice! He felt bad and even provided me with a coupon which I'm surprised the store manager didn't do but great cashier!!
Miyako Japanese Restaurant
1820 41st Ave G, Capitola, CA 95010, United States
I started out my night in a fit of discomfort because of a rumbling stomach in turmoil with intense hunger. The feast that awaited me was… astonishing. Rich miso soup with teriyaki salmon that’s was simply put peerless. To finish off the idyllic night we shared green tea tempura with a soft yet robust flavor. At the end of the day this was one of a few restaurants worth every penny and every second of commute.
