Olive Garden Italian Restaurant
2749 Countryside Dr, Turlock, CA 95380, United States
The food has definitely gotten better. Hadnt been to an Olive Garden in years due to the last time I went and the pasta was overcooked and not edible. I had taken a bite and it was so gross that I sent it back. I remember not even getting the salad because the waitress was so busy but when we got the bill I was still charged for it all. There were a few groups outside so we knew thered be a wait. Firstly, they shouldnt allow children as hostesses, especially these dunces - empty tables throughout the restaurant but there were 7 names on the list and over 30+ minute wait (we were quoted a 35 minute wait). I saw two empty seats at the bar top so thats where we sat. There were 3 staff behind the bar, two were cleaning and the bartender was making a few drinks so we patiently waited. The bar top stank like dirty mop water. They need to get new cleaning products or figure something out because Im pretty sure the bar top shouldnt stink after they wipe it down. They brought out bread, which I returned because I prefer plain bread with no butter or garlic salt. We ordered to waters with lemon then began to peruse the menu. For some reason the bartender was in a hurry to take our orders. We still hadnt made a decision, so he waited like 5 minutes before asking again. We ended up ordering the “Make your own pasta.” I ordered salad no dressing, with rigatoni and 5 cheese marinara. My BF ordered soup with rotini and meat sauce. The salad and soup came out pretty quickly. After my boyfriends 2nd bowl of soup, I tried ordering more bread but the bartender kept disappearing and the other staff who came by pretended not to listen. While we were eating our salad/soup basically all the bar customers had ate and left but the dishes were left sitting there for a while. Our pasta entrees came after a good amount of time and we were able to enjoy our salad/soup. At this time I ordered more bread, which took a while to come out. I do want to say, both the appetizers and the entrees were delicious. We really enjoyed the food. The service was spotty. Guess wait staff like having jobs, but dont like doing their job.
Panera Bread

Panera has a variety of foods to choose from. There is a variety of sweet along with savory items to choose from. The employees are friendly and the service is quick. I’ve never experienced any issues with quality of the food either. The bagels are good for breakfast and their soups, salads, and quinoa bowls are delicious and filling. This is a fast casual restaurant and I think they do a great job keeping the restaurant cleaned and well maintained. Although they do not have a drive thru, they do offer curbside pick up.

I am working in the Turlock area for the next couple of months, and I was craving something healthy! I try to eat vegetarian for most of my meals, so I got the lunch special salad and soup combo. The salad was so colorful with all of the veggies on it! And then I got the lemon tortellini soup, and it was absolutely delicious. It had quinoa in it and was super flavorful. The soup looked a little small at first, but it wound up being the perfect amount of food. Service was excellent. Healthy restaurants can often seem a bit...cold and uninviting to me, but the atmosphere here was really warm, and everybody was so friendly.

West Coast Sourdough - Turlock

I visited this shop for the first time today and Ill definitely go back. I ordered a large Greek salad and replaced the ham with chicken. They were happy to accommodate the request. The salad was delicious and a nice portion size with lots of the topping type stuff (feta, olives, artichoke hearts...). The two people working there could not have been more polite and they made sure I had a few slices of a fresh baked baguette which was insanely good. Prices are great for what you get. The place was spotless which is always a great thing. Its a definite yes for me.
Villa Napoli Restaurant

Hands-down 5 stars. This quaint little restaurant is the best Italian food Ive ever eaten (at a restaurant, that is)!!!! Im Italian and grew up with a very particular taste for Italian food.Agreeing with Mellisa C., if youre into Olive Garden, youre in the wrong place. This is a truly amazing and romantic experience and to compare it to Olive Garden would be a sin.I grew up (since 5th grade) in Turlock and lived right around the corner from this place. I always wondered how they were. When I first came here I found out it was new owners. They had just opened about 3 minutes before I showed up, so the experience was definitely one of a kind. I met the owner and shes the biggest sweetheart Ive ever met. My girlfriend and I were greeted with a big hug.On your table you will find bottles of Olive Oil (looks too light to be extra virgin :/ ) and Balsamic vinegar.Combining those together in the traditional style along with Villa Napolis wonderful bread that you cant get enough of amounts to pure bliss.I ordered my normal- Chicken Parmigiana. It was to die for. The chicken was properly breaded and super moist. My girlfriend ordered the Ravioli Aurora (I think its called) and it was absolutely divine.Hand-made excellent food at a reasonable price. Those who say any different are mad. The service can be hit or miss, but the nirvana of this restaurant makes any downside worth it. Plus, when you meet Mama, youll fall in love with her! I had the pleasure of meeting her husband, the chef as well. They make you feel like youre in their dining room, and treat you as guests.

The Crperie
1668 Countryside Dr, Turlock, CA 95380, United States
My family and I were really excited to try dessert crepes after our lunch at the sushi restaurant next door. I came in and the old man said do you know what you want to order with no smile on his face and I said no its my first time and he pointed to the menu. I flipped open the menu and I hear him say very rudely and pointing at my mother in law who just walked in YOU CANT EAT THAT IN HERE “THAT IS NOT ALLOWED” multiple times pointing at her to go box from the sushi restaurant we just had lunch at. Just to be clear, we had no intentions of eating our leftovers inside the creperie but he just ASSUMED and was EXTREMELY rude about it. There was no way we were going to support someones business who treats a customer this way. It's interesting that many reviews say the owners are friendly because we did not receive that warmth from him. We walked out immediately and will never come back.
LOZA
601 E Main St, Turlock, CA 95380, United States
My daughter and I went in yesterday for brunch, and it was all around an awful experience. I've been here dozens of times and feel like service has definitely gone downhill. We were seated immediately, which is always nice. Probably because it was cold and rainy, so nobody was waiting. Our server came pretty quickly and we were given ice water. Well, that's a stretch. It was room temp water (pretty sure it was tap) with a couple lonely ice cubes floating in it. She took our orders, and I requested a cup of ice for my water. It took forever for my daughter to get her coffee, and my ice didn't come with it. I had to remind the server to get my ice. By then, there was literally NO ice in the cup. Anyway, as we are sitting there talking, we were both FREEEZING even though we were seated inside. I guess inside doesn't mean much when doors are wide open and there is no heat. So we finally get our food and it was fine, but we never saw the server again for the entirety of the meal. We were done eating, beyond ready to go, and ready to pay the bill. Finally saw the server again at a table across from us, so I figured she'd come by when she was done. Nope. I had to get up and ask some other random employee to get my check. Our server dropped it off, and honestly, I wasn't going to tip her well. She did the bare minimum, and not really even that. As I read the tab, I realized why. Apparently Loza now takes it upon themselves to automatically add in their own 16% “service fee” whether you like it or not. The meal was ridiculously expensive—$67 for two people to have breakfast, one coffee, one water. That lazy server's tip came out to almost $8. Definitely not what I would've left her, but that's why she wasn't worrried about providing good service, because she gets that either way. Loza is not what it used to be, and I will definitely not be in a hurry to come back.
Crust & Crumb
428 E Main St, Turlock, CA 95380, United States
Firstly we really enjoyed our pizza.Secondly, we ordered an 18 dollar pizza for my toddler, wife and I (an adult male) mainly because we didnt notice any other option on the menu, as far as sizes go. It didnt say (or I missed it?) small $ medium $$ large $$$. All I saw was the 18 dollar however many inches. I figured it was some artisan deal and they only had one size pizza spatula or whatever. Were just dumb city folks from San Diego. Just throwing that in there. My point mainly was we would have happily ordered a bigger pie if we had seen the option. Maybe the 18 dollar deal should have been enough for 3 people, one being a 2 year old, but we came in hungry and probably a bit on the irresponsible dietary side of things. It was good. GOOD pizza, but either our own error or shoddy menu board production caused us to only see the one option. While waiting we did see a big pizza dished out. Upon seeing it I reminded my wife that our hotel had a fridge and microwave, and if we had leftovers we could zap them later for a midnight bad decision. If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans, or however that goes. As OUR petite pizza neared its end we were fighting over crusts like junkyard mongrels. Luckily my wife is a weak women and my son weighs like 15kg.Speaking of the kid, he was being a little punk so we relocated outside, where we saw another family with 3 little ones. We also saw some of those butane fire warmer things. Unfortunately they were all out of butane and we were out there freezing and fighting over crusts like the Donner Pizza Party.Again, great pizza. Staff also very nice to us. And we probably just didnt do a good job reading the menu. When Im in a strange town at a new eatery I get kind of nervous and I am not always super perceptive. Always worried they wont take card or Im going to order something thats spicy when I dont want spicy but don t want to ask all these questions. Thats why back home we just eat at Dennys and Yogurt Express for all of our meals.
