Panera Bread
1036 W Covina Pkwy, West Covina, CA 91790, United States
This has to be one of the worst restaurants and establishments I've ever been to. Over the course of 4 months of attending the restaurant, I've seen how degrading that building and the service as become towards the customers. Here are some of the issues wrong with this Panera location:-Unsanitary Conditions: It's apparent that the building is several years old with how the carpet inside being completely filthy. On top of this the management inside isn't on top of keeping the building clean with regular sights of dirt, food, crumbs, napkins and more all seen in the ground. At multiple tables on the ground these types of trash are common.-Long waiting times for food: Another common trend found is the long waiting times for food. I've witnessed first hand of how some customers have waited up um 30 minutes for a single soup or sandwich. What makes this worse is when you ask one of the employees about your food, they respond back with an aggressive and disrespectful manner back to you. On top of the waiting time, the food is overpriced for what you get. An entire meal that includes a sandwich, soup and a drink costs as much as 2 whole sandwiches from Porto's that can feed up to 4 people.-Dirty Bathrooms: the bathrooms inside are always filthy. The floors are covered with black stain marks from customer but from homeless people especially. There can be paper towels on the ground, toilet paper, sink water, toilet water, even hairs (as seen in the sink photo) and more. And the bathrooms are like this the entire day until when the restaurant closes at 9 where employees lazily dragged an old mop to “clean” the floors.-Homeless People: a number of homeless people roam around inside of the Panera location. This includes a gentleman who lives inside of 2 cars that are regularly parked within the parking lot of the Panera. He has a goatee and long white hair on top of always wearing sunglasses while also always sitting in the sitting area past the self serve drinks area inside. What makes this individual stand out more is how he sprouts out conspiracy theories on COVID-19 and Donald Trump while also having been kicked out the restaurant before in the past (although the next day, he easily comes back in with no involvement from the staff whatsoever). Then there's a Asian American homeless woman who brings her entire cart inside of the building and spend large days on end inside of the building. There have been at times where she has fallen asleep at one of the tables with no saying from the manager John or any of the employees (even though this is supposed to be a family restaurant and not a homeless shelter). Her cart is in one of the photos included in the review. Another thing that these homeless people do inside is that there have been cases where they've have stolen other customers food !!! They wait for when Jon (the MANAGER) is distracted along with other employees and they take the food right off the counter inside. They also take the plastic cups that are reserved for laying customers inside without any intervention from the employees inside.Overall I would highly recommend going to a different restaurant for any types of meals in the surrounding areas or cities. Not only is this restaurant riddled with homeless people that make eating inside uncomfortable but goes against the image of family friendly that Panera strives for. Long waiting times for food, overpriced food, dirty bathrooms, dirty floors, and more all await if you plan on visiting this Panera location. If you ever want to file a complaint against management, look for the manager named John. He has a black bread and typically wears flannel style shirts inside.

I rarely leave a review but THIS HIT THE SPOT. I got the crispy pork belly plate, and it came with a bowl of pho soup and a small dessert (both of which I didnt expect). The food came out fresh, pork belly crunchy, side salad crispy, and rice perfectly cooked. The server was attentive, and even though I was the only one there, I can see the amount of effort and care they took to prepare the meal.No idea why theres no foot traffic in this restaurant - when you get a chance, try them out as they are super underrated Vietnamese restaurant in the area!
BURD CHICKEN RICE
148 S Glendora Ave, West Covina, CA 91790, United States
My boyfriend and I found this place when we were both recovering from the flu. We wanted something not too heavy, but also substantial with a good ratio of easy-to-digest carbs and a good amount of protein. Well, besides that technical talk, we just wanted something comforting. Hainan chicken to the rescue! We found this place on Yelp and decided to try it out mostly based on the reviews and their close proximity to us. We didnt really know what to expect since Hainan chicken can vary in tastes purely from the accompanying sauces. This place also offered different takes on the classic dish, from a lemongrass option to a fried option. We opted for the classic burd since we wanted to try their standard take on Hainan chicken. The meal comes with two sauces: a ginger scallion oil sauce and a chili ginger sauce. A cup of hot chicken soup is also served with the meal.Everything worked so well together! The rice is perfectly flavored, with what Im assuming is the rich chicken stock. The chicken itself is tender and juicy, not dry at all. The chicken normally sits atop a bed of cabbage, but we prefer to order it without the cabbage. The sauces are just so complementary, and everything just marries so well together. Then the hot, comforting soup is exactly whats needed as the perfect ending to a perfect meal. Were so glad we tried this place. Since we first tried it 2 weeks ago, weve been here 4 times. Thats how much weve enjoyed the food. The staff is also very personable and friendly. It seems like they have some sort of special going on with their sugarcane juice and plates, although Im not sure if thats temporary or during certain times.Everything weve tried thus far has been good. We will keep coming back to try the different options they offer and to show our support.
XIANG JI Noodle
3660 S Nogales St H-H, West Covina, CA 91792, United States
Went there for lunch on a week day, so there was no crowds. This is a Chinese restaurant with a sport bar set up, could be fun when it is full. Food is very good and tasty with no hint of msg.?. Ordered braised beef soup noodles, fried stinky tofu, and pork dumplings. Excellent. I hope more people will discover this relatively new eatery and keep it in business cause I don’t want to drive to Arcadia or Rosemead when I have a craving.
Green Green Trees Your Vegan Kitchen
4141 Nogales St B107, West Covina, CA 91792, United States
Local vegan joint In West Covina. Ordered takeout from here on a Thursday evening and it took about 20 mins for the food to be prepared. You can order ahead online or phone in your order. The backstory of this restaurant is touching - you can read about it on their website.Prices are very reasonable and portions are generous. It's awesome to have food that tastes delicious and is also healthy. We opted for a chef's choice set which comes with 3 entrees and 1 appetizer. The appetizer was a veggie dish and had a light nice sauce. The fried chicken and wonton dish was the favorite dish of the night, and was crispy. The mushrooms in brown sauce had the right amount of flavor and came with plenty of veggies. We ordered some noodles on the side, which were chewy and my personal favorite. We also tried a slice of the tiramisu cake, which was light and has the same texture as a vegan cheesecake. You can order a whole cake with advance notice.Credit cards are accepted. Parking is free and available in the shared lot. The employees are very kind and friendly. There are a couple of indoor seating options (no outdoor). I like this place a lot for its homey vibes and the fact you can eat healthily, eco-consciously, and tastily all in one place.

Our dinner was so delicious! Of course we orders with our hearts and couldn't have been happier! I definitely recommend trying out your sushi favorites and any thing you haven't tried yet. Like it was bomb!!!!!! Annnnd to wrap up a truly wonderful experience Paul's carefully hand made ice creams were the best! Lyn also was wonderful as was our server!!! We're sorry we didn't get your name too! 10/10 go here and check out the welcoming fun vibe and amazing food! Pick A Poke
3642 S Nogales St, West Covina, CA 91792, United States
The food is amazing for a very reasonable price, but I think the service differs depending on whos working. The first time I came with my Latina friend and the staff person also appeared to be Latina (she was speaking Spanish to some other customers while we were there); she noticeably treated my friend preferentially and was short with me when I asked questions about the menu and how to order since it was my first time, which ended up making me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Then when I tried to pay, my payment failed the first time so she told me to insert my card again, but she helped by tapping on the screen for me and selecting the highest tip for herself without giving me a choice. I told her that wasnt the tip option I wanted to select but she gave me a dirty look and told me I couldnt go back, so I just had to pay the amount she selected or risk making a big fuss. Then she didnt offer me a receipt, which I think is just bad service considering she overcharged me, but maybe its because she didnt want me to find out her name (since the server name is usually printed on your receipt). When our food came out, my friends meal was neatly packaged so that she could take it to go, but my poke bowl didnt have a lid on it even though I was also taking it to go, and I had to ask for one, which she also treated like I was being an inconvenience. It was a really off-putting experience. My second time here, I came back with a different friend and ordered the exact same thing because the food quality was great, it was just the service that sucked, so I figured Id give the place a second chance. Thankfully my second time was a lot better. The server (Michelle, based on my receipt) was very sweet and I didnt experience any problems. So I will probably keep eating here in the future, but I would not like to encounter the rude staff person from my first time again.
Merrys House of Chicken
2550 Amar Rd A5, West Covina, CA 91792, United States
This is one of the most authentic Indonesian restaurant that you can find in California. Every time I go down to SoCal I always find an excuse to find my way there. Their specialty is called ayam kremes which is fried chicken deep fried with crumbs. Very delicious and addictive. The other food are pretty good too. Beware though, when they say hot, that means its HOT. Make sure not to go crazy if you cant handle the heat. Try their Soto Betawi (beef soup cooked with coconut milk), and Tahu Telor (egg mixed with tofu, pan fried and smothered with peanut sauce. Those are some of my favorites.

I need a lot of meat to supplement my protein
YQZ Dumpling House YU QING ZHAI
United States, California, West Covina, Nogales St, 邮政编码: 91792
We stumbled upon a new gem! YQZs pan-fried buns (sheng jian bao) easily make it to the top of my list. (Actually. current favorite.) While it lacks the soupy filling we love to burn our tongues on, its delicate fluffy bun and flavorful QQ pork filling are made of dreams. Achieving that wonderful crisp bottom crust does take time, so be ready to wait. We decided to try a few cold dishes and loved the spicy pickled chicken feet and garlicy smashed cucumber salad. They also had an extensive XLB (xiao long bao) menu. Their XLB is not the more mainstream soupy dumpling XLB. The friendly chef/owner explained that their Hangzhou style XLB uses raised dough, so its more similar to a steamed bun. What sets their pillowy bun apart from others is that it doesnt carry the strong yeasty flavor. We definitely prefer this over most soupy dumpling XLB. We tried their fresh pork and bean sauce pork XLB and loved it. We will definitely be back to try sweet XLB and soups.Another honorable mention is their homemade sweet fermented rice dessert. We skipped this dessert but spotted the carryout containers in the fridge and glad we did! Its sweet without tasting like syrup, and each grain of rice has the same consistency. If you like this stuff, skip the market and just come here for your fix.
