Ekkamai Thai Restaurant
13223 W Washington Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90066, United States
Disappointed to say the least.2nd time trying this place and both times were disastrous.Food was not as flavorful as I expected and the service was RUDE, and slow. Seriously need to train employees on food service and customer service. This last time i ordered takeaway. They told me 25 mins or so. I arrived after the afforded time and they told me ten more mins. I was surprised that it wasnt ready but I patiently and politely waited for my order.Several things were alarming to me during my transaction. I witnessed a health code violation. The cashier was really Rude at one point. I rode a motorcycle to the restaurant and was holding my helmet. When she handed my my drink with a straw in it I asked her if she could wrap it in a bag like they normally do for takeout at Thai restaurants when traveling as I am obviously on a motorcycle. she grabbed the drink out of my hand and threw the straw on the counter.I mean. What kind of employee representing your business does that???I havent even gotten to the food yet. My wife who is not picky even said it wasnt good and it weirded her out.Chicken skewer- small. Rubbery. Dry and Cold. Did not taste fresh.Shrimp pad thai- flavorless. This is a standard Thai dish. How can this get messed up? Just seemed to lack the pazazz that I have grown accustomed to.Panang Curry Medium- NOT SPICY, little flavor. Not much to it. My least favorite part of the dish was the FROZEN PEAS and CARROTS. Shrimp also seemed a bit dried out and rubbery.I decided to give this restaurant another try due to the reviews I had seen. There are a lot of 5 star reviews so obviously there are people who love it. I did also see a lot of negative reviews regarding rude service and food issues so that said...Im not the only one to experience this. In my opinion 5 star is Awesome, food and service. 4 is pretty good, 3 is average, 2 is Meh. Meh minus one star is what I have to leave due to the unfriendly atmosphere and rude service I received. Just my opinion and my opinion alone but I believe Thai food is flavorful by nature, the lack thereof and the poor service that I received is just sub parr to my expectations and experiences. Certain things may take time and money to rectify but friendly service is free and pretty easy to achieve. My suggestion to you is try it for yourself, hopefully your experience will be different. As for the owners comment about me slamming the restaurant, it is not my intention to slam the restaurant or influence others, Im just stating my opinion about the food and service I received one night. I cant see it on Google but on yelp i have 200 reviews 4-star or above, 50 3-star, 40-2 star and only 60-1 star. I love to find amazing places, this might be one of them but just not my experience from a couple of visits.

Sib Song Thai Restaurant

The name of the restaurant is now Bangkok Palace. I was there today and had the ginger chicken from the lunch special menu. Great deal- just $7.95 and it includes fried rice or white rice, spring roll, salad and a fortune cookie at the end. The ginger chicken was tasty, as was the panang curry which my guest had. The salad was very fresh and portions were adequate. Our server was friendly and courteous and mentioned the name change occurred about a year ago. I think she said it was under the same ownership. It was a pleasant dining experience and I will be back to try their dinner menu items.

I'm first time dinning in this restaurant because it's 4.6 in Google. I noticed there's some bad review about worse service for this Thai restaurant. I assume food can make up everything. However, it's way worse than I can imaging. We were group of 8 people. First of all, she didn't give us water after we sat down for awhile. When we asked for water, she asked me back with impatient tone: for everyone?! Excuse me? Should we share a cup of water in your restaurant? Secondary, we want to share food so we can try everything. When we ask her how big of the portion, she looked at me inexplicably and said just for one person. I understand it's for one persons. But I'm wondering how big of the noodle so we should order 2 or 3 for sharing. I asked her nicely again with hand sign. Is good for one person like this size or bigger, smaller? She still said same thing: it's good for one person. I was really speechless. Third, every time when she drop off food, she was just standing there and holding food. She's waiting us to clean the table FOR HER. God, shouldn't you clean the table before you delivery food out? We had 8 people to share soup. She just gave us 5 bowls. I guess this restaurant really want their customers to share setting. During the whole time, the service was talking to the kitchen, never ask us How's everything. I hear she mention our order. I'm wondering was she talking us with kitchen. Seriously, I really want to leave if I was not with kids. They were too hungry. Food was actually just ok. It was not bad. But I'll never come back again bc service was terrible. At the end our bill comes out $165 and everyone were still hungry. The lady also mandatory charged us 18%.

Thai Talay
8411 Lincoln Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90045, United States
I am sad to say that I have tried this place a few times and there was hit and misses with their dishes.I really enjoyed the Panang curry and Massaman curry. It was rich and flavorful. The pad thai dish is also a must try if you come here. The aesthetic of the restaurant is very nice and clean. (Though it can get really loud)The three times that I have been here there were more misses (cons) than pros so I wont be coming back anytime soon. Especially when theres so much options thats offered in the area. The price is on the higher side but thats just what it is in this area.Parking is extremely difficult to find unless you go during quiet hours. The service here is subpar. Once they serve your food they make an effort to not make eye contact so you cant ask them for extras like more lime, the chili tray, or refill. What disappointed me the most is the food! I grew up around south east Asian food and some things I do understand that they want to cut back on. BUT that doesnt excuse for old and stale food being served.Lunch special order- I would steer away from this combination as they use food that are days old.I got that big platter to try- It was a bit of a joke as there was nothing good about this other than the chicken dip for the chicken bbq.Chicken Larb- add way too much sugar so its a strange sweet salad with not enough herbs or lime juice.Papaya Salad- Universal Studios did a better version of this. They literally just shave the papaya and carrot, flavor it with a bit of water down fish sauce and threw some peanuts on it.BBQ- The portion for this was pathetic and of course, the chicken is OLD.Hainan Chicken- the chicken was no where near edible! It was dry and tasteless. They give you a side dip to help make the food go down easier. If youve have hainan chicken, you know its far from that. The garlic rice was tasty so if they have that, I would try that.Pad Sa Ew- Average, nothing great or bad. There was nothing extra about this dish for me to ever order again. The Spring Roll- The sauce was really good! I would take that sauce to go and make it myself. BUT the spring roll was premade and you can tell that its been sitting in the refrigerator for the day. How you might ask to be aware of this.. The wrap is hard, if this was fresh it would be soft like a sheet of noodle. If youre charging $7 for a small portion, I expect some real effort put into this.I am disappointed in this place but went to try it a couple of times because its always packed. I thought maybe it was a fluke on my end. But my 3rd visit told me nope. Thats just the Thai Talay standard.

Dont eat here! Wish I could have the option for negative stars. I ordered 2 entrees, 2 starters and a small rice to be delivered. The order was placed and confirmed at 9:06 pm with an estimated delivery time of 30-45 min. The delivery arrived at 11:10 pm. The driver first said he blew a tire and then a few minutes later said he was in an accident. When asked which it was and why he didnt call the number on the order slip with the phone that was in his hand, he got flustered and said he had to go and hurried off. The food was ice cold and the wontons and egg rolls were also very soggy. The rice was cold and hard as a brick and the entrees looked as if they were knocked over in his car, put back in the containers and were also ice cold. I wouldnt have fed any of it to my dog. They charged me $60.13 for this and when Eat24, the service I used to place the order, had to call the owner to see what they could do to correct this for me, the owner said they would do nothing. So, I paid $60.13 for food I had to throw away, a delivery guy who lied to me, a ruined evening and its 11:20pm and Im cooking my own dinner since everywhere is closed. This place is awful and the owners clearly dont give a rip about their customers. Karma is tough and the owner has some coming there way.

Kruang Tedd

Stopped in to Kruang Tedd this past week after reading about its distinctive Thai offerings. We appeared to be virtually the only patrons there on a weeknight, but by the end of the dinner I concluded that the proper reaction to this fact was Their loss. The space is pleasant with its handsome wood tables; it seems to be set up for a band or karaoke, but that wasnt happening when we visited. The service was as quick and attentive as you would expect under the circumstances, the prices for cold draft beer (Lagunitas IPA) were reasonable and would have been even better if wed arrived before 8pm, when their happy hour wraps up, and the cuisine was fine-to-unforgettable. Fine for the Dried Chili Cashew Nut, which was Thai Town standard, no more. Unforgettable, however, is the only way to describe the Khao Mok Gai. The slow-cooked chicken, rice, and clear broth came separately, not mixed, which I didnt expect. But each element was *phenomenal*... especially with the delightful spicy mint sauce (there wasnt enough of this sauce to cover the portions of the food, which were very generous). Weve been to the famous Jitlada (a block away) half a dozen times, and its great, but no dish there has brought me up sharp the way the Khao Mok Gai did. Five-plus stars overall for that dish alone. Do yourself a favor and go try it while its still there. Four-ish stars for the rest, at the price.

Pot Thai Cafe

I would definitely come back here - food was exactly like I expected it to be. And the atmosphere is cosy. Price is ok. Small cafe, just few tables available. A lot of free parking place on the plaza.I ordered Tom Kha Kai - it is coconut soup with a choice of chicken or shrimps (I prefer a little bit spicy and with shrimps), mushrooms, lemongrass and ginger. The size of a portion is big enough for 1 person. Also I decided to try Green tea ice cream and I liked it! I was totally satisfied with my lunch. My hubby tried Pad Thai - it is thai rice noodle fried with a combination of chicken, beaf, pork and shrimps with fresh bean sprouts. He also was excited about his food (said just he would add a little bit more shrimps, cause he had only 2 of them on the plate, he expected some more...). Also he ordered Tapioca with Thai iced tea - taste seemed authentic to us :)We came at 3:02 pm, just after their lunch special time ended))) Next time well try to come before 3pm and try Tom Yum noodle soup.

I have ordered from them twice and eaten the food once. But how is that even possible you say? :Let me just tell ya.When I first ordered there, I got delivery to the CSULA dorms and the delivery was on time. I got Drunken Noodle with Chicken, wonton soup and egg rolls. This time, I ordered pretty much the same thing for delivery. I ordered from the Eat24 app and was quoted 60-90 minutes for delivery. Which is odd since the restaurant is about 3 miles away tops.At 60 minutes, my food had still not arrived so I communicated with the app, who told me the food was on its way. A few minutes later, I called the restaurant, and they told me the same thing, that the food was on its way. Both me and the Eat24 operators were communicating with them who kept telling us that the food was on its way.At this point, my food was an hour and a half late.I call the restaurant and speak with a woman who said that the driver was on the way but that they no longer deliver to CSULA, something they never said on the phone the previous several times we spoke and they never said to the Eat 24 operators. I hang up and wait about 10 more minutes, no call, no delivery.I call again and I speak with a man who insists that I cancelled my order, that the food was not on its way.Why would I cancel my food? My roommate, who was right next to me the entire time never heard me say I cancelled my order. They still insisted I cancelled and said they would not fill my order. This place is under 3 miles from me. There is no reason not to deliver. Its no matter now because I will NEVER order from them again. I will also inform all of my fellow Dorm people and people who live in the area not to order from them.

The menu says BBQ Pork Ribs from the GRILL, unfortunately the spell check must be broken since refrigerator is spelled wrong. Our ribs were barely warm and came with a long hair in the sauce. Doing our very best to look past this, we then moved on to the classic Thai Tom Yum Soup with Shrimp. It arrived with plenty of fanfare, the waitress warned us to lean back and lit the warmer with a spectacular flame that was over foot high off the table! Sadly, after 2 minutes the flames died out and we enjoyed... you guessed it... barely warm soup. Im actually not sure what the two chefs in the kitchen were busy doing, since we were only one of three parties in the place on a slow Saturday afternoon. Maybe the microwave took the day off? We decided to skip dessert and cut our losses short. With so many other better options in the area, I would definitely recommend skipping this restaurant entirely.

Bangkok Palace
2202 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026, United States
Wow, what a hidden gem. This is hands down the best Thai spot I've been to in months, if not years. The food was delicious, so authentic. The presentation was beautiful and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate me and my friends, even giving us some dumplings on the house. The Tom kha was spectacular, definitely recommend for large parties, I've been struggling to find anything me and my friends can afford and this is bound to come our spot from now on because it was 10/10. The pad Thai with fried tofu was so delicious, most Thai places I go to just don't have that good fried texture down and Bangkok Palace knows how to do it just how I love it. Highly recommend the lunch menu, what a reasonable price for a great meal. The bad reviews are insane to me after going here I will definitely be sending everyone their way when they want a great Thai food recommendation.
