My friend and I visited this place for lunch on the weekend. It was quite empty, so we were seated right away. The server barely gave us 2 minutes to look at the menu before he started asking us what wed like to order. Otherwise, the service was fine.My friend got their 1A pho, and I got the 1B pho.1A pho was Tái Duôi Bo (Rice Noodle Soup, Rare Steak & Ox Tail)1B pho was Phỏ Bo Filet Mignon (Rice Noodle Soup, Beef Filet Mignon)The broth in both the pho was not as flavorful as we wanted it to be. The rice noodles were all clumped together. The meat was tender but a bit dry. You can pick between two different bowl sizes - regular and large. The price difference between the 2 is only a dollar. Overall, the pho was okay. It was definitely filling.I also tried their Vietnamese coffee. If you dont like the bitterness of the coffee and want more condensed milk, then let them know ahead of time. Their Vietnamese coffee comes in sealed cups (similar to a boba milk tea), so adding condensed milke afterward is hard.
Tommy Thai

I was hesitant and hungry. The more and more hungry I got the less and less hesitant I became. My sister got Pad Thai noodles the other day from here. They would have been fine if she gave them shelter in the fridge, but unfortunately she kept them out in the wild for too long. Im starting to understand why Cup of Noodles used to be her favorite food. Cup of Noodles isnt going bad anytime soon. Pad Thai noodles arent as resilient though. Lauren needs to understand she cant treat every noodle as if it came from a Cup of Noodles. When she left those Pad Thai noodles out in the wild for close to 20 hours, there was no way to undo the damage that was done. I had to make the decision was I going to let my hunger or common sense win. Hunger usually wins that battle, so I ate the Pad Thai noodles. The smell of it wasnt right, but the taste felt right. I ended up being the test dummy for my sister because after I finished half of it, she decided to finish the rest. These Pad Thai noodles were pretty good for possibly being bad. I cant even imagine how they would taste if I got them fresh. Im planning on going here again and not even giving the food a chance to go bad by eating it as soon as possible.

Since we humans are on the top of the food chain and it took us thousand of years to get there, I have always thought that turning vegetarian where a mistake except for a medical condition BUT, I want it to see by myself what a vegetarian restaurant has to offer so I walked into this Chinese Vegetarian place. It was about 18:30 Hrs and the place was empty so I explain the waitress that it was my first experience with vegetarian cuisine and I need it recommendations. She didn't care much about my request and brought me the menu. She pointed out a couple of dishes telling me “they where popular”.To be in the safe side I finally order the same thing I always order at a Chinese restaurants : Mongolian beef and a side of rice (because I know for a fact Mongolian beef doesn't come with rice!) Haha. The food was ok but I couldn't help to think what those strips of “meat” I was eating where made of..,I didn't ask..I was in the middle of the meal when another waitress brought me the check (?) I told her that I didn't ask for the check because I was still hungry. Without apologizing she brought me the menu again. Then I order a classic: spring rolls. Here it comes the good part: the waitress again brings back the check BEFORE the spring rolls where served!!! (?) I told her it was very impolite and rude to do that! She grabbed the check and left visibly upset. Conclusion : if the service where up to standards I'll go back for tofu but…. I don't think so..Also, I have no idea why this restaurant is rated so high … that is confusing!.
Cafe 86 - Mt View
738 Villa St, Mountain View, CA 94041, United States
NOT HALO-HALO! It's a semblance of halo-halo. It should be called something else, like “coconut jelly and boba mix.” The only good thing about it was the ube ice cream topping, and the corn flakes (which replaces the pinipig nicely). The ice was too fine and tasted like sweet coffee. The leche flan was a bit dense. That said, halo-halo is not supposed to taste like coffee. The ice should have a crunchier texture. The syrup from the ingredients should be enough sweetening, then just add plain milk. The ingredients had the beginnings of a real halo-halo, the coconut jelly (nata de coco) was good, the jackfruit bits seemed to be real fruit, the boba was well-prepared and had a great chewy texture (unlike some that still have a mealy center). BUT, real halo-halo must have some sweetened red mung beans, white beans, garbanzos maybe, some have sweetened saba or plantains. All in all, it was good for a hot day. But if you want a more authentic halo-halo, go to Goldilocks, Chowking, or maybe even Max's Fried Chicken. My wife loved the Green Rose Milk Tea, can't say anything else because I didn't taste it. We will probably go back and try the pastries next time.Service was good, the kids behind the counter were friendly and efficient. Parking is free, but can be a task on weekends and busy days, but you'll manage.
Asian Box
142 Castro St, Mountain View, CA 94041, United States
Asian Box makes really delicious and fast Asian fusion food. Ive been here so many times because theyre so consistent with their food. This restaurant is somewhat like advanced Chipotle for Asian foods. There are certainly a lot more choices to choose.Heres what I recommend:Base: Chilled Rice Noodles because the brown rice and jasmine rice are a bit plain in comparison. However, this is the least important choice since the rest of the ingredients easily drown out the base.Meat: Go with your favorite. Beef, shrimp, and chicken are my favorites.Topps: You MUST get the crispy shallots. They are amazing. I like them just as much as I love the legendary grilled onions from Liba Falafel. I also recommend the chopped peanuts, bean sprouts, and scallion oil. Skip the caramel eggs.Sauce: I recommend mixing Peanut Sauce and Miss Jones Sriracha. Its the perfect blend, and its not too spicy. Tamarind Vinaigrette + Peanut Sauce and No-Oil Fish Sauce + Peanut Sauce are also great combos. In fact, you just cant go wrong mixing Peanut Sauce with anything.Lastly, the employees running the MV Asian Box have always been very attentive and know how to make their customers feel appreciated. Service here is excellent.
Vons Chicken Mountain View
137 E El Camino Real, Mountain View, CA 94040, United States
This is a new location of Vons and its really convenient with plenty of parking. Most importantly though is they serve delicious Korean chicken and other dishes. We ordered a F2 and a F4 over the phone (theres online order too) and didnt realize how much food it actually was for just the two of us - LOL. The website does not have any indication of size of small or large. One order of chicken was drumsticks only and it had 7 good size drumsticks. The other order was drums and wings which had 3 drumsticks+3 wings mid-section + 2 drumlettes. Each order also came with a small tub of coleslaw and pickled radish. This is a lot of chicken!Next time, we will probably order 1 small order of chicken and then another kind of dish to share for 2 people. The restaurant was clean and spacious with some tables and counter seating. The chicken was hot and fresh. We asked for sauce on the side instead of already tossed on the chicken as we were bringing the food home to eat and worried the chicken skin would get soggy from the sauce on the way home. The chicken was packaged well with ventilation to prevent condensation. It was a great experience and satisfied my KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) craving. The two guys that worked there were really nice and pleasant. Oh btw, theres a frequent buyer stamp card (location specific). why not...never refuse a deal ?. Great addition to the area.
