Pho Banh Mi Restaurant
696 Fremont Ave, Los Altos, CA 94024, United States
I had this soup at this Vietnamese restaurant and it was un-pho-getable. The bowls that serve pho are generous portion with bo vien (meatball) and thit tai (flank steak). The broth was very flavorful. And you will love the glass rice noodles that come with it as well. If you have not tried pho before, then you are missing out on a lot..Dont forget to try their Vermicilli Bowl. An entire meal in one bowl is fun delish assemble system. You have chicken, rice vermicelli, fresh herbs, and raw vegetables, its topped with a tangy fish sauce dressing and served cold.

Exceptional restaurant serving authentic and delicious Vietnamese food with fresh ingredients. And if you can tell from my name, I am Vietnamese and I know what Im talking about. Have tasted and eaten at a lot of Vietnamese restaurants. The location couldnt be better! Having this in downtown Los Altos is so convenient for me, since I can walk from my office and either eat in or pick up to go.Lets get into the food!Shrimp papaya salad is soooo good. Every now and then I crave me some papaya salad, and this hits the spot.Banh mi comes lightly toasted bread with tender beef and side of chips - a favorite!Beef stew is tender and the broth is rich and flavorful, comes with fresh bread or noodles.Bun Thit Nuong with perfectly grilled pork and cold noodles with fish sauce dressing.Beef pho has so much goodness in the broth and the beef is just right for cold weather or anytime really. Especially when the temperature drops and that piping hot bowl of pho is simply divine. With such a rave review, maybe I was holding off on writing it for so long because I dont want the word to get out. But this restaurant is a gem and I hope it will continue to be around for many years to come.

Fun atmosphere. Clean! Hardworking, courteous staff...Now lets talk about the food! Dont waste time looking for a better Vietnamese restaurant. This place serves the most delicious, naturally healthful (not to mention beautiful to look at), authentic food around. Great food served promptly at the right price - Ive found my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. I Think Youll Agree!

Review is for Los Altos location only. 1-2 stars for food and coffee. Five stars for space, but they could do a lot better with their offerings and employee training.Great space, conveniently located adjacent to Whole Foods so you can grab a cup and/or bite before shopping. The coffee is on average burning hot, and bitter, most likely due to brewing at too high a temp. It has a sour note sometimes. This morning it had a musty note. Perhaps we expect too much, comparing it to Blue Bottle. Most recently on MLK Jr. Day we stopped by for some empanaditas and decided this location has used up its goodwill. (We sometimes stop in due to laziness, solely bc of its proximity to ? and Whole Foods)We tried three tables (food remnants, crumpled up napkins, straw wrappers, etc) in this very empty establishment before settling on the fourth one and cleaning it ourselves. Not only were the empanadas the texture of crumbly wet sand, one of the three sauces they gave us was beyond a doubt, not slightly but completely spoiled. Not only had the orange spicy sauce separated (like whey separates) the minute you opened the lid we both gagged from the smell. When my husband took the container to the employee, to prevent some hapless customer from getting food poisoning, she insisted that was the way it was supposed to be!!!(Btw the orange sauce is my personal favorite, although as my Venezuelan friends love to remind me, it is not traditional in Venezuela, unlike the green guasacaca sauce)When he insisted, and told her this was a regular order for us, she refused to touch or smell it, citing co-vid restrictions, and then told him to throw it out himself in the garbage can outside if he didnt want it. She did not offer to check for a new batch, to replace the one he tossed, nor did she seem at all concerned.Buyer beware, use your eyes and nose, check your food before eating, as they certainly dont.
Village Court Shopping Center

This is a surprising little shopping center. We love to visit the Chinese restaurant, as its the most true-to-form Chinese food weve had since our trip to China. The Korean restaurant (Sudam) is great, too. We enjoy the teaspoon tea and drink spot, the Vietnamese restaurant, and the fresh pasta store. I have used the barber shop there, too, with mixed results.Overall, a nice place with ok parking and plenty of good food.
Green Bakery & Cafe

I was pleasantly surprised by the food here. They just reopened recently after the pandemic and remodeled! Its truly like stepping into a AirBnB here. I liked the peaceful ambience and family-oriented vibe. I could see myself doing some computer work in here.I was impressed by their menu and bakery items. They have an extensive menu with all the expected cafe items. This Vietnamese inspired cafe surely has it all and everything tasted very fresh and tasty.Ordered:-Avocado smash (avocado toast): very generous with avocado and the bread was nice and soft-Vietnamese hot coffee-Vietnamese chicken salad-Ghiradelli chocolate muffinThe avocado smash was my favorite item. The meal felt healthy and they gave generous portions. I was highly satisfied with the meal and did not feel that full afterwards.
