Just spent a most incredible birthday at The Boat House. Excellent Volcano roll and sweet potato fries, with a Dark and Stormy Rum drink. So delicious, and flavorful! A fantastic bartender too! Such a relaxing view from the upstairs bar, of the ocean and surrounding mountains. Highly recommended!
OMG! AMAZING SUSHI!!! We recently stayed at the Anchor Beach Inn. The front desk recommended the Boat House, but it didnt hit me that is was a sushi place until we got there. We sat at the bar and our server, Jenna, was so great (hey, Scott). I eat sushi once or twice a week and really appreciate good sushi. Chef Justin is incredible!! He must have heard we were raving about his sushi and he came by to introduce himself. He has a very impressive work history of restaurants he has owned in FL, NY, and TX. This is one very talented and experience sushi chef! When we ordered a second round of nigiri he made it special and delivered it to us personally. This is definitely a diamond in the rough!! I cannot recommend this place highly enough!!! Not sure when well make it back to Crescent City, but when we do youll find us at the Boat House!!! Thanks Jenna and Chef Justin!!Tim & Malinda
The steamer platter was exceptional. We really enjoyed the spicy garlic shrimp and clam. We also ordered specialty rolls and sashimi, which were both good. We ordered a California roll, which surprisingly was off menu. That was not that good. Go with the menu items, especially the steam platters.
We had a late lunch at the Boat House. It was awesome. We shared the Tempura Party – carrots, peppers, mushrooms and shrimp, and the Sashimi, Chefs special. The food was amazing, fantastic presentation, great customer service. The only down side was that it seemed a bit odd to us to have country music that was playing loudly in the back ground. County music is fine, but just seemed a bit off putting for where we were. Regardless of the music. We look forward to going back and trying other dishes.
Best snow crab ever! Great options for everything! Best sushi iv ever had! Just really fresh quality everything! Also good views from most tables. Also one of the best waiters iv ever had is Brandon! So if you want great service and a great experience ask for him!P.S. if you ask nice and for a price he can also teach you how to surf maybe.. He’s a pro!
Food was amazing. The music was a tiny bit loud but thats because we were right under the speaker. (I must be getting old 🤣) other than that, phenomenal. 10 out of 10 would eat here again!

Have been there many times before. The service has always been Great. But this time, it was a guy with sweats on, and his was messy like he just woke up. He wasnt friendly or helpful at all. We wear his only customers. Ive been a server and I really enjoyed it. I guess I just have more pride in my job.

Went in to try for the first time today, I was greeted by an empty building, and waited a few minutes, a younger couple came in after me, and was standing waiting. A few moments later a man came up the stairs and looked at me, I was obviously in line first, then looked past me to the younger couple. Not even acknowledging me, asked them if they would like to be seated!!! I will NEVER go there again, ill drive up to Oregon before I ever spend a dime in that place. Awful service. I would have been a good customer, with a large Family, that if the food was good, would have been a repeat customer for sure.. now I hope they shut down due to rudeness, and prices
This was a weird restaurant. It is on the waterfront. The entrance is not well marked, you enter through 2 plastic door coverings. The menu is mostly sushi, though there is no indication until you get the menu. The teriyaki salmon was good. Service is slow. We waited for the server to give a menu . It took forever to get a beer. Wanted to get another beer, but the server never returned. Had to hail down a passing waitress to have water refilled
The sushi and fried ice cream were AMAZING! Great views and our waitress was awesome! They just opened but they are already doing a stellar job. Definitely recommend!
Aside from staring over gross motor home to the water. The food was great, the service was awesome and the owner was sweet. Im picky and we will go back. We had the tricolor sushi plate to share. Yummy.

We came here after an evening hike thru the redwoods, we felt underdressed walking in but everyone greeted us with open arms. The food and service were both great! We sat in the bar area with our toddler & our bartender/waitress JJ was the best. She was attentive to everyone in there. The sushi was really great (and we live in Hawaii and have good sushi often). The sunset was absolutely gorgeous. Would recommend if you’re staying in Crescent City.
Fish and chips were not very good. The breading is kind of nasty. Should be a beer batter, or even have the option of different batter and not a hard dry bread crumb type stuff . The steamer(crab boil) with garlic butter and lemon was good.The server we had was amazing and very cheerful aswell. 10 out of 10 for her!! She was a great vibe!

This place has only been open 5 weeks so theyre still working things out. The waitress was really nice and did a good job. The food was hit and miss. The French fries and the fried shrimp off the kids menu was really good! The fried ice cream was delicious. The sushi was really good. The egg flower soup was way too salty. The chow mein was squishy and not good.Took a while for the food to come out.
Got the seafood platter, was very good! Not something I can find often so I make a point to order it if its an option, this did not disappoint! The view we had was 10/10 as well. Seafood tasted fresh. You can customize the platter in quite a few ways.

Amazing hidden gem!!!!! We stumbled on this gem driving around. Wasnt quite sure the food type from the outside but they have amazing sushi, seafood boil, and other Asian cuisine. The cooked salmon sushi was amazing!!!!!! The fried shrimp was amazing! The only complaint was I wish the servers were a little more attentive.

This place is absolutely atrocious. As a former Malibu resident, I’ve had some solid fish. I know that standard is way too high to place on a small shop like this, so yes I factored that in.This place has a ton of FROZEN seafood on the water!!! Over half of the menu was frozen (prawns, tuna, crab, calamari, etc) or canned. I was so excited to support a local restaurant and have fresh fish, but we had to order items that weren’t our first, second, or even third choices. The service sucked too, but it is what it is. The food was so bad.Also, the chef can cook a piece of fish, but there is not ONE ounce of seasoning. I’m sensitive to high salt content too, so I usually appreciate a non-assertive dish. This was straight up atrocious
Oddly a Chinese run Japanese sushi place where an American seafood restaurant should be, quite popular but don’t stray from sushi. Salad, grilled fish was… too difficult for them. Portions a bit small. A view of the ocean 2 blocks away and RV parking lot next to it. But local groups seemed happier than us.
Gin/JJ was amazing. She helped us order and everything was fantastic highly recommend the sushi here its top tier.

Food had been good every time I have gone here now (about 5 times) the Bao buns are good, the Dynamite and I believe its the Volcano roll are my favorite and so, so good. When I took my daughter here for her birthday lunch she got the fried ice cream for dessert and she said it was really good too. The older Bartender lady is amazing and so are her drinks Ive gotten The Shipwreck mainly but the other 2 drinks Ive had were very good too.
I would rather disappointed in this place. I didnt realize it was such a fine place for sushi. I just wanted to get a nice Seafood meal and all the other places in town were closed so this was it. If youre looking for good seafood this is not the place.

I walked out upset. We had reserved a table for 8 at 7:00 p.m. They told us that they were not aware of our reservation. My wife and I were seated at 7:00 p.m. at the correct time with only one menu. The rest of our group was there at 7:05. We waited until 7:35 without any acknowledgment and no water or extra menus were brought to us. The table next to us that was seated 5 minutes after us had received their waters right away and their order was taken by 7:20. I see a similar complaint on here a week ago.
Great views, right near the beach.... But it overlooked a run down trailer park. It would be an amazing location if they cleaned up the surrounding area.This is a sushi bar.... With Great food, and great service.
From the dockside it didnt have that kerbside appeal, Just looking like a bar in no mans land. However. Met by a very friendly team we ate and thoroughly enjoyed very fresh seafood cooked with love and passion no fuss of faf just really good well done!

Waited 30 min finally waiter came got drink order came with drinks and never came back. We had to have another waiter ( which we flagged down) and got a food order in which was the crab which comes with potatoes, broccoli and bread. Waited 45 min finally got our food which was cold. There was 1 tiny peace of potatoes, 2 peaces of broccoli and no bread. The crab was rubbery and cold our drinks were never refilled. I had to walk up to cash register to get a to go box and pay the bill. This was at 4:30 pm so it wasnt close to closeing. I will never be coming back.
Best sushi I have had in a long time! Very surprising for the area and the atmosphere but super authentic and extremely delicious. Highly recommend. Chef owner is from nyc!

My husband and I are on vacation with our two service dogs. We went at about 3:00 pm on a Monday because we knew it wouldnt be busy. We were meet at the door with a stern We dont allow ANY dogs in here whatsoever. We explained that they are service dogs, but the silently-apologetic server just shook her head and said, No, not any dogs.Not only is that insulting, its illegal. We didnt want to let them ruin our night, so we walked away and found somewhere else to eat.
JG was an amazing server. Despite the bartender not being on shift, she provided a killer bloody merry. We had a huge order for just us three, but judgment free she got us everything we needed and more. She even made an honest suggestion which we appreciated. The food was tasty, my favorite is the coconut roll. She talked with us until we walked out the door, making us feel welcomed back anytime. Thank you for such a fun lunch JG!!

I was turned away from this restaurant because they do not allow 100% rated disabled American veterans with a service dog. I travel alot and there are a few of these idiots around but i will file a refusal to accommodate a disabled person with the ADA tomorrow, minimum fine no exceltkons. Plus i will attach this to all the veteran groups and the coast guard boards. These type of people think i want to take a 80lb dog everywhere, i have too deanded and paid for by the VA. Luckily i sit at home forever have lots of time to notify every federal and state agencies that care youll get to meet my determined disabilty earned the hard way.
We shared a Spider Roll, 101 Dragon Roll and Hamchi Kama (grilled yellow tail collar). The waitress (Jennifer) was very helpful. The chef came out of the kitchen to discuss the preparation of our meal. He is clearly passionate about his craft and his recommendations were spot on. Our meal was superb and the service was flawless. We look forward to our next visit.
Host came to seat us with a beer in his hand, he was drinking it, it was not for a guest. Server was too busy talking to other customers to wait on us. We left wont return. Would have given 0 stars if that was an option.

Wed came on a Sunday night and all the restaurants was close except Boat House. We was suprise how excellent their foods is, their service was excellent, great atmosphere, and beautiful views.
Nothing much to say except we waited for 22 minutes for a waitress to take our order, but nobody ever came. The half a glass of water was great!
This place cant decide if its a seafood shack or a Japanese sushi house. It has very conflicting style choices. The staff was very kind but unprofessional. The fish and chips were overcooked and a about 5/10. The sushi was 6/10 but expensive. I would recommend this place commit to one, and work towards a more refined experience.
The food here is absolutely fantastic. The servers, bartenders, and chef all give amazing service and are incredibly kind and helpful.If youre in the area, or passing by, I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. For a simple meal or an evening of joking, eating and drinking, its an amazing spot.Jennifer and Autymn were amazing servers/mixologists. Enjoyed the seafood with the family. Had the sashimi for two, the build your own combo seafood steamer with garlic butter, and chow mein. Sashimi was very fresh. Not bad for not a true authentic Japanese restaurant. Family liked the seafood steamer. Fun eating experience. It was done pretty well. Not over cooked. Seafood was fresh. I thought the garlic butter seasoning was a little light and water down. Chow mein was nothing special. Overall it was good. The restaurant has many cuisine styles. Would recommend and do again.
Great service! Our server was very nice. I give it 1 star because of the awful food poisoning we got after eating it. We have been shaking, throwing up, and have a headache from hell. So beware

They were working so hard. I had a $108 carry out order and they nailed it despite being short-staffed. Asian items were all really good. Kids enjoyed their choices, especially the fried rice. And I would go back for the chicken wings alone. Hope they get some more help because everyone was really busting their butts and had to deal with a big crowd. Got tempera shrimp and another (angry salmon). Both were excellent. Kudos to the sushi chef. We also got gyoza, which was hot, generous, and delicious. The service was cheerful and professional. I highly recommend this lovely sushi restaurant. Good place to go after the farmers market.

Fabulous find. Great seafood and not too expensive for what you get. You can Choose your shellfish, the sauce its cooked in and the intensity of mild to super spicy. Its like a clam bake... our waitress Tiffany was great.If you love seafood, you must try it. They also have teriyaki non seafood dishes so theres something for everyone. There is also Sushi and the bar was going to open 8/26/2022!

We came here yesterday and I can honestly say FINALLY we have a place that we can tell people about and don’t have to drive to brookings for! Steamed pot was awesome. Service was great. We will definitely be back! Also they have a awesome bar in the back with a great view.
Aahhhh-mazing sushi! I loved it! I am not usually a fan of tempura sushi but this was next level. Just wonderful. We even ordered a 3rd roll to go! The food was wonderful, my boys loved their dishes too! Many options for even the pickiest of eaters. Cant wait to return to Crescent City so I can return to Boat House!
We ordered Gyozas which were fantastic but the deep fried chicken and hamburger were not a good choice. The chicken wings were very oily and had a fishy coating/taste to it almost like they use the same deep fryer for everything making it taste fishy? I’m not sure but the chicken itself didn’t seem fresh. We asked for sauce to go with our chicken wings but it took almost 10-15 minutes to receive. The hamburger was way overdone. I could knock on the hamburger patty. They weren’t able to accommodate us and make us anything new or provide some sort of discount for the burnt hamburger. The waitress kept peeking over our shoulders making sure we pay and making comments about it as well
We were missing seafood having moved to Montana five years ago. We were not disappointed, the food was delicious! I thank our waitress Jennifer, she was on her game . Attentive yet not annoying 😁. She was fun and made our dining an awesome experience.
This place is a great location! The waitresses were so nice and cordial! The food was mediocre. The fish didn’t seem fresh! It tasted salty like it was imported from China. Honestly, I ran into a neighbor who was just finishing their meal and they were not impressed! Gave their food a quality of a 2. I was hopeful that our order was better! I was wrong! It was not worth the 100 we paid! If I decide to go back it’s because the waitresses made up for the lack of quality of the food!
Fantastic fish! As someone who loves sushi this was definitely one of my favorite places! You simply cant get this freshness anywhere else in California for this price! And its a contender to even Boston and New York sushi! Best place to go in California and Oregon

Horrible service. Horrible dinner. We waited for 45 minutes with empty glasses and full plates to tell the waitress that the food didn’t taste right. She took our plates, and disappeared for 15 minutes to bring us back a check that was for another table because she had given our check to someone else and proceeded to tell us that we should just pay because it was cheaper. Which it wasn’t. Literally, had 4 bites of the food, wasn’t offered a comp for the inedible meal. Poor customer service,

We ordered a variety of seafood dishes and sushi and had a fantastic dining experience. Food was delicious, waitress was AMAZING, and the chef came out and talked to our table and suggested a special when something we ordered didn’t work out. And everyone was so kind to our 4 year old!

We were greeted by multiple workers with a warm and welcoming smile. Jennifer (our server) recommended the spider sushi dish that was delish. the kids of course had chicken nuggets and fries 😀 (cant go wrong) hubby had the chicken teriyaki dish and I the beef teriyaki dish and it was amazing. Thank you boat house team you are all awesome.
Overall, the food was very good! Had 2 rolls, jalapeño Hamachi, scallop and salmon sashimi. Everything was very tasty! I realized during my visit that the Boathouse just had their soft opening so I expected a few hiccups, but there were trivial (asking for chop sticks, soy sauce etc.). Staff was very attentive and pleasant to speak with. I will definitely be visiting The Boathouse when I come back to Crestent City!
I wish I could say it was worth trying but honestly it’s not. The food was terrible. Kids fish sticks were freezer sticks, kids cheese sticks were freezer burned. The sushi rice was hard, the egg drop soup was tasteless except a slight fishy flavor, and the salad was wilted with a single tomato cut in half. Not even close to being worth $110.

Whatever employee called me after I ordered doordash needs to be fired. I ordered through doordash (also I am a first time customer) and I ordered a bento box and a sushi roll from the lunch special and the order was processed as well as my payment but I then received a call from an employee telling me I couldnt order that because the lunch special was 2 rolls..well regardless, the way the restaurant set it up ALLOWS you to order the way I did and does not make it clear you cant order that way. Now my order has been cancelled, I have to wait 3 to 5 days for my refund, I have no lunch, and both my time and the time of the doordasher was wasted. I will never go to this place again although I really wanted to try them. I will also recommend anyone I know not to go because this was truly not a pleasent experience.

As a local, don’t bother coming. The rolls were really salty to the point it made the roof of my mouth hurt. The tempura was hella greasy. I’m sorry but the only good was the waitresses kind gesture.
The sashimi was very fresh. The gyoza was delightful and softshell crab (spider roll) excellent. But the birdseye view of Redwood RV park is outright embarrassing. I recommend blacking out the windows until they clean that dump up.

We, 4 people, came to this restaurant last night. Restratunt owner Justin came to our table and explained their menus. They only purchase local produces and freshly caught seafood from the fish boats. We ordered sashimi and combo of steamed seafoods with garlic butter, and a seafood fried rice. They are all very delicious. The seafoods are noticeable fresh. The waitress is very friendly and responsive. Justin, the chef and the owner, said he and another two chefs (and owners) just opened this restaurant one month ago. They are all about 30 ish old, full of passion and love Crescent city. All three are Chinese and are good at Chinese and Japanese style cooking. Justin recommended we come again tomorrow for fresh Salmon fish dish. So we came back again the next day. Justin cooked a very special Chinese dish called red chili fish head using a full Salmon top half with head. It was just delicious!! We had this kind of dish in Taiwan but with the carp fish head. Salmon fish head is our first experience and the taste is better than carp to me. He also cooked a Chinese style chicken dish with chicken from a local free range Chicken farm. Great taste too. We highly recommend this restaurant.

We stopped in to try this new place on our way from SoCal to Seattle. Theyre in the soft opening phase, so be patient, but the experience is worth it! Great sashimi and friendly staff. Well be back!

Now this place is a gold mine. Super excellent tasty food. Had the white tuna appetizer and I dont rave about food much, but taste, presentation, and (Anna) service were excellent. 👍
The food was very good. However the chef needs to cut the lobster meat out of the tail shell and lay it on the top. It really distracted from the experience, cause your fighting and getting cut up from the shell to get to the meat.

The menu boasted a wide array of options, ranging from classic fish dishes to more adventurous culinary creations. I opted for Sushi, and it was awesome. The seafood platter was also a great pick. Super fresh. Your taste buds will thank you.Only downside, I think a second bartender is needed. Drinks took way too long, and there were glasses on the side that needed to be washed.

2023-11-21 03:26:23Went up to Crescent City for the weekend and found this place! Great location and view. It got busy and they were understaffed but they called in for backup and got right back to business. The food and presention were 👍. The miso soup needed some more flavor. I definitely will be back this time to sit in the bar in the back, it was full when I was there but it looked like a cool place.

2023-08-15 16:32:02We got 3 sushi rolls, pineapple fried rice, miso soup and edamame. All the food was pretty good, but not the best Ive ever had. The service was great and the location was cool.Across the parking lot on the water are 3 barges that have tons of wild seals on them all hours of the day. Behind the barge was land mass with a different breed of seal that was hard to see but really awesome.

2023-07-12 04:18:45The food was good. We were told when we walked in that the kitchen was extremely busy, but we could sit in the bar and order from the same menu. They quickly seated us in the half empty dining room once we told them we made a reservation. The very nice busser got us waters, but couldnt get us soda, he said the server had to do that. Our server finally came and apologized after we sat there for 20 minutes, then came back after another 5 minutes to finally take our order. The food was good, not amazing, but was tasty.I dont blame the wait staff at all, I think its management, they need to train their staff to be a little more attentive, have them dress more professional, and shut down Door Dash if its taking away the quality of service for the diners. Were locals, but we wont be back.

2023-07-10 19:21:23AMAZING food, drinks, and atmosphere! Sat at the bar with amazing views of the ocean and Redwoods. JJ the bar manager is the most coolest person ever! She will tell you the best places to go and check out like Hiouchi Cafe, Fog Bank, Surf Shop, and the best Redwood trails. She is so full of positive vibes and energy! The owner came out and even had a beer with us. I had the 101 Dragon Roll - it was AMAZING! So fresh! I wanted to try all the rolls on the menu. The double burger is also INCREDIBLE. We will definitely go back every time we visit Crescent City. Don’t miss this gem of a place to go!

2023-07-10 04:58:48The food was excellent. The wife had snow crab legs and I had the chicken pineapple fried rice.The service was poor at best. While it took a while for the food, we waited over a half hour to get our check after our plates were cleared. Meanwhile, a 6-top got their entrées, ate, got their check, paid, and left the restaurant during the time we just sat there waiting to pay. We were told repeatedly Ill be right back with your check, but she never did come back until the restaurant was almost empty.The food was great, but you will leave with a bad taste in your mouth if you have to wait as long as we did just to pay the tab. We missed the last of the daylight on our short weekend. It was very, very frustrating.
