The food here is excellent and the service is usually very good. They were very slow the last time we had takeout. Tonight, we decided to dine in and it was a much better overall experience.Shaking Beef 🥩 5/5 Delicious with a capital D. They were a bit stingy with the beef tonight, I know times are tough, but for 18 bucks, it should be a slightly larger serving.Curry Chicken 4.5/5 Very good, not the most traditional variation of this dish, but it holds its own in terms of quality and freshness. Perfectly cooked meal.Compliments to the chef, and kudos on providing high quality and swift service.

I ordered takeout and was very disappointed with the quality of the food. The menu’s description of the game hen as “succulent” should be replaced with “sparse, dry, and stringy.” Must have been (over)cooked days ago. Had I been eating there, I would have definitely sent it back. The vegetarian sautéed eggplant comes swimming in oil. I would recommend staying away from these 2 dishes. $38 for not much…

Wonder french twist on Vietnamese food. The curry is wonderful. Shaking beef is one of the best Fila steaks I have ever had. Dont miss out on the fried rice.

In the area and a friend recommended this hidden gems for great vietnamese cuisine.Our server was friendly and took great care of us even it was during the lunch rush.The Pho had the best presentation and tasted great. It was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The shaking beef was tender with great flavor.Will definitely come back again to try other dishes next time in the area.

Today I’m sick and I decided not to cook dinner and ordered at Le Bambou for my kids. I didn’t watch them eating and when I came to them in the middle of their dinner I saw just unacceptable quality of food. These are imperial rolls from order 813241939. I would like to get a refund.

It is a clean and nice ambiance restaurant. But please aware, this is not an authentic taste Vietnamese restaurant. Everything is way too sweet. The beef inside Pho soup is also very chewy...

Seems like a nice place but its a bit expensive for pho. The pho was nice, except the broth was way too sweet for my taste. If they fixed that Id give it a 4. Will definitely go back and try the other dishes

Restaurant is pretty it has a romantic enviroment, food was tasty, we tried pho, spring rolls they bring all the ingredients to your table and you make you own rolls, it was pretty good experience, we also, tried the krispy rolls they were good!!

This place is great and has done a great job serving my family for a long time. One of the best, long-standing establishments in Del Mar. They are a small shop, run by family. So dont expect them to be fully automated and efficient like Panda Express. But its a really nice experience to be served by a family that works so hard and creates really great food.

We went for my friend birthday with a group of friends and had a really amazing meal there on a busy Saturday night. I had a taste of almost everything on the menu since we were sharing but the seafood dish ( I dont remember the name) was absolutely amazing. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I will definitely go back for more.

Very very bland food. All 3 dishes! Tastes more like Chinese than Thai. We ordered spicy items and they weren’t spicy at all. They don’t bring enough rice or refill water either. Spent over $80 for Panda Express flavor. I do not recommend if you are looking for actual Thai.

A family run business that is a true gem in Del Mar. I wish we had been coming here when we moved to SD 20 years ago. The food is delicious (Shaking Beef, Curry Scallops, Eggplant, Pho and the list goes on) and service is very polite and prompt! Neal and his family are very welcoming and will give suggestions for the extensive menu and we have made this one of our go to restaurants.

First time here but not the last! Everything was Absolutely delicious! We ordered the ground shrimp appetizer, chicken pho and Shaking Beef (similar to Mongolian beef but better!). Plus we got their homemade lemonade! So refreshing; not too sweet, just perfect! Can’t wait to come back and try other things. Attentive, friendly staff! Thank you!

There’s a black bug in the soup of 30 Pho Special. The manager was rude, and argued with us that it’s not a bug, but a spice, and smashed the bug in front of us right above another dish. We were shocked. It IS just disgusting and disrespectful. We agreed to exchange the soup for a fresh one, but the manager came back still arguing that it’s not a bug and insisted we would get the same issue. We had to leave the restaurant feeling hungry because another dish was also contaminated by her smashing of the bug. Not recommended; and don’t try to tell them their food has a problem!

Hands down the best Vietnamese restaurant in San Diego! One bite of the delicious hot crab egg rolls and I knew this restaurant was special. Then the main course. The sumptuous Sautéed chicken with lemon grass and hot peppers, paired with a nice glass of white wine, made this a special dinner. A nice quiet bistro that I could enjoy while dining. Definitely coming back, and will bring the entire family for the next dinner.

The pho is ok. But if you were here for pho, this may not be the place. However, the bigger issue is that their ventilation system is kinda worn out. We left smelled like grease from the kitchen. They also brought out chopsticks that are wet, indicating poor sanitation, as wet utensils are the breeding ground for hepatitis virus and bacteria. I didnt check the kitchen myself, but I can assume that its not very clean. The smell really reminded me of the restaurant of a friend of my family that had to be shut down for deep cleaning a couple of years ago.

We’re from Denver and I gotta tell you, this place is absolutely delicious!! Very authentic, family recipes and tastes! The Pho I had was some if not the best I’ve ever tasted! Le Bambou has become our favorite restaurant. The food is PHENOMENAL! We eat there at least once a week. The rolls, especially the Imperial rolls, are crisp and delicious. Their duck is other worldly. The vegetable ambrosia is something we get every time we eat there, as well as the stir fried scallops (with crispy egg noodles).No matter what you order, you’ll LOVE it.

Glad I found this place! Was on a business trip and craved for Vietnamese food. Googled Vietnamese cuisine in the local area and online search led me to this place. Authentic Vietnamese family restaurant with quiet, relax atmosphere tucked in the corner of Del Mar heights plaza. Had delicious beef crispy egg noodle. Lunch price was reasonable. Will return back on my next trip to northern San Diego.

The food is really excellent and reasonably priced. But please order directly with the restaurant for takeout, and not through Yelp/GrubHub, so the owners dont have to pay a 30% commission even without delivery. Ive been eating here for almost 30 years, and really want this unique family-owned restaurant to stay in business.in addition to takeout, they also have four well-spaced tables directly outside.

This has been a neighborhood favorite for many many years for good reason. Their food is delicious and prices are reasonable. Make a reservation if you plan on going on the weekend. The restaurant is run by the owner and family so service and satisfaction are top class.

Family owned and managed, with Mom and her magic hands in the kitchen. Husband Andy, places roses from his wonderful garden on the tables. Been dining in their peaceful atmosphere for years. The food and service never disappoints. This year, am especially fond of their Claypot chicken. Past years it was their Lemon Beef, and a variety of soups. Recommend all the appetizers with this warning. You might be tempted to double up on the appetizer menu and stay with that!

Im so disappointed. With such good reviews I was looking forward to trying their pho. The broth didnt taste like traditional pho broth and was very oily. I got it to-go, there were no limes and no jalapenos. The basil and sprouts were not very fresh. The meat was very good. I would go back to try something else, I would never order the pho again.... Also no chopsticks in the bag. Over $15 for pho... A little rough.

Don’t come here looking for the standard Southern California pho-style Vietnamese restaurant. Le Bambou is different. Sure it has soups but it’s main stays are clay pots and rice dishes which are delicious. The vegetable ambrosia appetizer is much like a “roll your own” fresh spring roll and is delicious. The ginger chicken was good. Looking forward to trying the curry chicken next!

This isnt your typical Vietnamese restaurant, but more like a viet/chinese hybrid. Dont expect a pho/bahn mi type of experience.Expect a very good cornish game hen, grilled pork dishes, curries, and several lemongrass flavored entrees. The prices are reasonable, and the ambiance is nicer than many other places around (quieter).I recommend that you go there soon. The owners are old, and there seems to be some pressure from the new owners of the strip mall to renegotiate a new lease, so enjoy it while it lasts.
