Pick Up Stix Fresh Asian Flavors
8025 Fletcher Pkwy, La Mesa, CA 91942, United States
Tried this restaurant 8 years ago and found it to be very overpriced for the amount of food you receive and the food tasted too sweet. All of it had a strange overwhelming sweetness to it. Tried it again recently, and found the same thing to be true. Only gave it a second chance because we were desperate for Chinese delivery and there werent many options. 1/3 of our order was left out when we received it. We called the store and after putting us on hold 4 times, asked if we could come in and pick it up. That defeats the entire purpose of the expensive delivery and we werent able to do so. Then they offered some sort of store credit or coupon but we were definitely not coming back a third time. What we wanted, was for our money to be refunded for the items we didnt receive. Didnt expect anyone to bring us the rest of our food. They wouldnt do this and told us to take it up with their third party delivery company. The delivery driver did NOT eat our missing food, Pick Up Stix didnt pack it. So we just left it at that instead of causing a problem for our delivery driver. Lost our business permanently.

The combination of flavors Chef Nate throws together, absolutely incredible. Service was amazing, food was the best and it made it even better when Chef Nate takes the time to talk with each customer. Props kind sir for your creation, we will be back for sure.

Oodles By The Nood Bar
7436 University Ave, La Mesa, CA 91942, United States
Tried this place three time. I was very excited they opened in La Mesa where you don’t get many authentic Asian food restaurants. However I was very disappointed even i really wanted to like their food and support them. Most of the dishes I tried were too sweet to me and some of items weren’t that “authentic” more like a fusion or Americanized-Asian food style to me. (Or maybe this place is more of a fusion style?) overall I feel it’s a little over priced for what you get and i didn’t really enjoy the items I had tried in all my visits so I won’t come back again in a short time. I can see some people enjoy this place thou if they like Asian food that has more of a sweet taste. The plus sides are the restaurant is very new and clean and the staff were friendly.
Pho Superbowl
8342 Parkway Dr, La Mesa, CA 91942, United States
If youve read any of the other reviews you already know this is the best pho in east county and probably all of San Diego. So instead of parroting everyone else (because yeah, it *is* that good [although I will say their orange chicken is shockingly good; the sauce is excellent and the chicken is cooked perfectly - no obnoxiously overly crunchy pieces here) Im going to tell you about my favorite part of the restaurant: their service and atmosphere. This used to be my late grandma and Is favorite place to eat out, and even though she could never remember the actual name of what she liked they always recognized her and knew her order off the top of their head (including the random substitutions shed request). If I was ever just picking up some pho to take over to her house Id get a loud and sincere wheres Grandma? My grandma died about 9 months ago, and I kind of subconsciously stayed away from this place because of all the memories I had with her there. Well I finally got over it and right when I walked in the door I heard hey Blake! We havent seen you in a while, how are you? I didnt think theyd remember me at all, Im not memorable like my grandma was. They then asked about my grandma and were visibly upset that she had passed. I was genuinely touched that they not only remembered her but fondly.I know there are some great pho places across SD county, but Ive never been to any restaurant EVER that made me feel like family the way Pho Superbowl does. I will personally guarantee you will have an amazing experience. One last note to those of you that like pho takeout but hate how kind of disorganized it usually is, this place has it down. They pay for specialized to-go bowls that hold the broth down in the bottom and has a tray in the top that holds the toppings and noodles with a snap on lid above that, keeping them nicely separated. Ive washed a few and keep them on hand for bringing liquid lunch to work in.I could go on and on but Ill stop here. Just try the place, you will not be disappointed.
Banbu Sushi Bar & Grill
8555 Fletcher Pkwy Ste 106, La Mesa, CA 91942, United States
Went here on 12/3/22, right after they opened and it was great.Since they just opened, obviously not a lot of people. They share the parking lot but there was overflow parking across the street which was less than 5 minutes away depending where in the garage you parked. I loved that they thought of this and it is next to the trolley station. For shareables: we ordered i think wontons, jalapeño poppers, nori fries, & fire cracker shrimp.Everything was piping hot & delicious. I love that went you bit into the fire cracker shrimp, you could actually see a shrimp inside! And it was whole. The dips accompanied with these apps were great! And the greenery was raw, shredded cabbage which i ate with the sweet chili sauce they paired with the wontons. The fire cracker shrimp had a spicy mayo dip that was delicious and they should probably sell these 2 in stores.Rolls: ceviche roll, Philadelphia roll, cherry blossom roll, langostino roll, & green helix were ordered. Philly was okay. Ceviche was great. Langostino was so savory. Cherry blossom & green helix were great. For the green helix there are fried sweet potato and fried green onions on top which gives it a nice texture difference.Drinks: we ordered the strawberry mango and mango sake. Strawberry mango sake was fantastic. But the mango sake didnt taste like mango to me. You probably will need to order 2 if you like to drink but i think 1 bottle gives you about 4-5 shots. The glass bottle itself is super cool and has a hole in it to hold ice. So it keeps the liquid cold but since its not in direct contact with the liquid, the liquid doesnt get watered down.If this place was closer, i would go here often. If you are not a good eater, i suggest sticking to 1 app and 1 roll. I was already full before the sushi came but i pushed through. Make sure you save $40 from 4 paychecks because most items were $14+. It is pricey, but worth it!
Dennys
4235 Spring St, La Mesa, CA 91941, United States
Reviewers seem to either love or hate this place, so we have to assume your experience all depends on how busy they are. We always dine here during the holidays, when we are visiting relatives nearby, so we cant comment on what its like when crowded. We had our Thanksgiving dinner there this year and there were only half a dozen groups of diners in the place. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. The food was good, the service fast. This guys was hustling, smiling at everyone, joking to the guests. Really one of the best visits to a restaurant we can remember.Hey look, this is Dennys, so if you want surf and turf or the latest Asian/Russian fusion dish, dine someplace else. But if you want good tasting food at a reasonable price, served by friendly, helpful people, this is the place. As we were leaving, even the busboy and cashier said, thanks for coming. Good management!
