Pick Up Stix Fresh Asian Flavors
8855 Apollo Way, Downey, CA 90242, United States
**Pick Up Stix Downey Review:**Located conveniently in Downey, Pick Up Stix offers a diverse menu of Asian cuisine, but my recent experience left something to be desired. The restaurant itself has a cozy atmosphere perfect for casual dining or takeout. While the service was prompt and courteous, the dish I ordered, beef broccoli, unfortunately fell short of expectations. The beef was tender and the broccoli crisp, but the overwhelming presence of ginger in the dish overshadowed the flavors. This detracted from what could have been a well-balanced meal.On the positive side, the portion sizes were generous, ensuring good value for money. The restaurants cleanliness and adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols were commendable, contributing to a pleasant dining environment.Overall, Pick Up Stix in Downey offers a decent dining option with friendly service and a comfortable setting. However, for those sensitive to strong ginger flavors, it might be advisable to inquire about adjustments to the dish before ordering.

Found Hair in my food. Forced me to drive back for a refund after already paying for it to be delivered to my house. They didnt want to give me a refund for the food at first unless I drove the food back to them. So I drove to them and asked for a refund for my one item that had hair in it and for my delivery since they made me drive all the way to them for a refund. They refused to refund me my delivery acting clueless, saying its on post mates and not on them. The bag I received was stapled shut. And postmates was not the company forcing me to drive back to the restaurant for a refund. It was Narai Thai. So yes, they are responsible for the delivery fee. I could have asked for the whole order to be refunded but wanted to be lenient about it. Instead, this is how they treat customers. I cannot believe I had to drive it in when they asked for a picture and we sent it to them. They made it seem as if we were going to eat it still or something. I told them, my food came to me with hair in it. It was going right into the trash. They made me go out of my way for no reason. Used to love going here, but never again. And I will let everyone I know this place does not take care of its customers.

Where to start... 4 of us ladies decided to come here to eat late night (because they close at 10:30) we walked in a girlfriend wanted coffee they have a coffee machine so she puts in .25 cents and her coffee was served she bought 2 more both progressively lighter than the other. The last one looked like dirty see through water. The workers laughed when we told them. When we sat down it took us 20 minutes to get a waiter BUT there were 4 people chatting at the register (1 lady and 3 guys) we caught the man cleaning the tables and told him who was supposed to wait on us he said no ones come, its been a long time. We thought the same. So this guy comes takes our drinks. We order and the food comes out i ordered the #20 teriyaki rolls, they were gross, dry and burnt edges i banged some pieces against the plate and it it clinked against the plate. Its about 10:00 and we get the bill, we thought, we just got served what the heck! So he comes back 15 minutes later Were about to close the registers, if you could please make uour payment. He stood there looking at me and my girlfriend for a solid 3 minutes then he walked behing me to look at my other 2 girlfriends to do the same. We felt SO uncomfortable. We still had 15 minutes left, we dont see eachother that often. So we pay out bill and we want to pay 4 ways. They do not accept more than 2 cards per payment. So needless to say this place was not what we had in mind and we will NEVER be coming back to eat here. Well just take our $96 bill elsewhere, thank you very much

We have been coming to this restaurant for at least 4 years. The food was good for the “price” and the service was great, very friendly staff. We have been supporting them along with our other favorite restaurants all through Covid. Tonight we ordered our regular food; pot of tom Kai coconut soup, large white rice and an order of Paradise fried rice. The total was over $36. When we looked at the bill, the base price of the Paradise fried rice went up from $11.95 to $15.95, an almost 35% increase (along with everything else, although they are still using the old menus so you don't know how much the food is until you get the bill) I understand that times are difficult and restaurants have been especially hard hit with Covid so I could have accepted the price increase but then they also charged us $3.00 extra for the shrimp because unlike before at $11.95 that included both chicken and shrimp now it only includes one, to have both its extra. So in order for me to get the same dish as I had before at $11.95, it cost us $18.95, an increase of almost 60%!!! So not only did they increase their cost but they also give you less for more $$. Unfortunately I will no longer be supporting this restaurant, the value simply isn't there.
WaBa Grill

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Waba Grill, and let me tell you, it was a flavor explosion from start to finish!First up, the Boom Boom Tacos. These tacos took my taste buds on a thrilling journey. The combination of tender, seasoned meat, crunchy vegetables, and that “Boom Boom” sauce was nothing short of extraordinary. The sauce had just the right amount of zing, adding a delightful kick to every bite. I couldn't get enough of these tacos; they were an absolute sensation.Next, the Waba Bowl was a true revelation. It was a hearty and healthy choice. The perfectly grilled protein, whether it was chicken, beef, or tofu, was incredibly succulent and flavorful. The variety of fresh vegetables and steamed rice added a fantastic balance to the dish. And the teriyaki or spicy sauce options elevated the overall taste to a whole new level. Each bite was a delightful combination of textures and tastes. The dining experience was made even better by the friendly and attentive staff like Cristina. They ensured everything was just right, from the order to the service. In summary, the Boom Boom Tacos and Waba Bowl at Waba Grill were a culinary adventure I won't soon forget. If you're looking for a satisfying and mouthwatering meal, Waba Grill is the place to go. I can't wait to return and explore more of their menu.Bon appétit!

This is a small hidden spot but out of all the sushi restaurants from Vegas, to LA, San Gabriel valley, Hollywood area, even Beverly Hills Ive never had Sushi as Delicious as this place. There Cilantro rolls are absolutely mouth watering, there soups are yummy. I dont live close to the restaurant but me and my family love it. I highly recommend this place. The Asian waitress is very awesome and kind. You need to try it definitely! !!
Sushi & Teriyaki Plus
7850 Imperial Hwy., Downey, CA 90242, United States
I came here with my family when it first opened. And at first thought it was ANOTHER teriyaki place. But it is anything but an ordinary place. The owner is so nice to us when ever we come here. And the food here is tremendously good! And the price is a hell of a lot cheaper than any of the other teriyaki places here in South Gate. And the food is so delicious, its one of the reasons why we come here once a week! The sushi is really authentic. Four dollars for the California Roll, and Five and change for the spicy tuna roll. Youd think for such a cheap price, its also really cheap. But oh no. It is anything but cheap. Its really top quality sushi and sashimi. In conclusion, the food is 5 star quality. the environment is really clean. place is a little small, but all great things come in small sizes?.5 stars
Panda Express

On Sunday afternoon, the line was very long. A young girl came out with a tablet and a credit card reader to get preorders and prepay to speed the process along. The half dozen or so customers waited near the register for our orders. Pretty soon, customers behind us that didnt preorder were just walking thru and getting their food before us. Finally, the manager came and took our receipts and started to fill our orders. He came back and put the food at the register and said 47. I said Im 47. I asked why people behind us got their food before us? He just said printer broke and walked away. Then the cashier asked, Show me your receipt! I told her that the manager took it and its in her hand! She finally handed me my food and I asked her if they put in dipping sauce for the spring rolls? She snidely responded, You didnt order any! It took me 25 minutes to get a take-out order. No one said Were sorry it took so long, nothing! No free drink or free meal, nothing! Not a word. This was the worst and most frustrating experience Ive had at Panda Express!
Flame Broiler

Its flame broiler The food tastes the same anywhere you go. With that being said, these people here do not pay attention. I called in to place a phone order so I didnt have to wait in line when I got there and was put on hold for 8 minutes. I was still on the phone when I showed up at the location. I walked in And there were no customers inside the restaurant at all. Somebody came out to greet me I showed them the phone and asked why I was left on hold all that time. The girl picked up the phone and said oh oops. Then I placed my order, they asked if I wanted avocado I said yes. The girl says okay no problem gave me my total had the order made and when it came out no avocado. I told the girl there was no avocado on the bowls and she replied oh I didnt charge you. Do you want it? Am I missing something here? You already asked me if I wanted it, I already told you yes and you acknowledged it. Pay attention people or get a new job.

I doubt I will be buying chicken and rice bowls at other places if I can avoid it. It is not so much the food that has me choosing to come back, it is the staff. I purchased an order through GrubHub after a nasty stomach flu which left me in such pain that driving was not an option. The moment they saw there was an issue with the order and it getting a driver assigned to it, they contacted me and said they would be cancelling the order. They mentioned that they also offer their food through postmates and uber, should I desire to order it again. I can say going forward, that anyone willing to train their employees to take a hit like that, is top notch in my book.
