Bangkok Thai Restaurant
235 W Main St, Merced, CA 95340, United States
The food here was alright. As soon as I walked in the door I noticed plenty of tables with Asians sitting there eating, which made me feel like it must be good food since they should know best what Thai Cuisine restaurant has the good tasting food. The meal started off with chicken satay and a peanut dipping sauce which was fairly dry and not the best satay Ive had. That was followed up with pork chow mein which was pretty good. One big problem I had with this particular restaurant was that we had been seated and about fifteen minutes later a group of Asians were seated given their menus and their food came to them first even though our order was taken prior to theirs. They gave me the feeling of racism against me.Overall the food was alright cost was not too expensive so thats why I give this place three stars.
Kings Asian Cuisine
360 W Main St, Merced, CA 95340, United States
The prices are a little higher than some other chinese restaurants but its totally worth it. Kings Asian is clean, nice and delicious. They also have a nice outdoor patio. I highly recommend the pork fried rice with lemon chicken. Its delicious and one of the cheaper items on the menu.
Thai Star
57 W Alexander Ave, Merced, CA 95348, United States
The food is so bad. Noodle soup is way too salty, pad Thai way too sweet, Thai coffee tastes like water with lots of sugar. Worst Thai restaurant Ive been to. If you have been to many Asian restaurants, you can tell how bad this place is.

First Time coming here and I chose this place outta all the restaurants for my birthday meal and I regret it. Im always taking a leap of faith when it comes to new food spots and it mostly turns out bad and this one is no different. I got really convinced by the overwhelming 5 star reviews and only saw like two 1 star reviews which convinced me to go here. Ill start off with the prices, the prices are fair for what you get. The portion size are okay. The things I got from here were the Pork ribs and Baby beef short ribs and chow mein and fried rice.Lets start off with the Pork Ribs, if youre like me and cant tolerate greasy/oily foods dont get their pork or else youll get stomach cramps, stomach discomfort or trouble digesting the pork because its a bit too oily/greasy. I give the pork a 3/10 because its too oily/greasy and doesnt have much flavor beside an oily taste. My stomach started grumbling after 30 mins of eating all of the pork ribs and now hours later its starting to cramp a lot. Make sure to stay away from the pork if you cant tolerate greasy/oily foods. Now lets rate their Baby beef Short ribs, Short ribs are my favorite kinda beef and theirs does have a nice marinated sweet taste to it but my goodness did every beef piece have at least 2+ tiny bones that made it a bit difficult to eat without having to spit out the little fractured bones out. I rate the Baby Beef short ribs 7/10 not great but good. Now I will rate the Fried Rice. The Fried rice doesnt have much going for it other than a bland but sweet taste to it. I was very disappointed because it was quite a lot for just $3.50. Ive had a lot of fried rices that had so much flavor that would make you eat that just by itself but not this one, this one makes you feel guilty because you didnt finish it all because you just couldnt get yourself to finish it all because its not that good unfortunately.I rate the Fried Rice a 5/10Last one to rate which is the Chow mein. The Chow mein from a first glance is that the noodles are thick and have a lot of vegetable to go with it. It was surprisingly good and that says a lot because for example you compare them to panda which they have horrible chow mein and taste very bland and they dont wanna make you eat em all but Asks Chow mein does. I rate the Chow mein 7/10.Dont be fooled from 5 star reviews because most people dont know what theyre talking about when it comes to True Good Food and ASK is not it unfortunately. Ill never come back here again but its always a good thing to experiment and find new places that might be your go to grub place like Teriyaki Don for example good food, portions are great and service as well. Well I wasted my birthday meal here and unfortunately regret it but it is what it is. Thanks for reading and go read One Piece!??
Tokyo Don
3040 Park Ave # E2, Merced, CA 95348, United States
My fiance and I visited Merced from out of town for a business trip and Tokyo Don was one of the only places open on Easter night. We were extremely disappointed with our entire dining experience. The vegetable chow mein was completely flavorless and had chunks of uncooked onion and celery for filler. My fiances pork fried rice was an unappetizing black/brown color and had old chunks of pork fat in it. There was no quality meat in the dish at all. The worst part was the crab rangoons which didnt even have any crab in them! The food was not worth the money we paid for it. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for quality Chinese food and I hope for the sake of the Merced locals that there is better Chinese food out there!
Panda Express
1786 W Olive Ave, Merced, CA 95348, United States
Im a frequent flyer at Panda Express and go to both Merced locations a couple of times a week, and Ive done so in the morning, lunch time and early evening. I always walk in and order in real time, never drive thru or via app. That helps avoid portion shrinkage and errors (though I have been shorted before by not checking the order before I left), so I always check my order now. I religiously fill out the online feedback form _every single time_ to let Panda know the highs and lows of each location visit.General observations:Panda is easily the best and price-effective fast food with healthy choices option. IF you have the app and make sure to enter your Panda points and do the online Feedback survey from the code on your receipt. It gives you a coupon for a free small entree. Essentially Ill have enough food for two meals for under $11!Generally the staff is friendly and greet you when you come in at all locations.Ive also been to the Atwater store, and one in Modesto on Hatch. The Modesto one gets bonus points for having really hot and fresh menu items even at 8:30 at night, including the sometimes elusive black pepper chicken entree. At the Merced stores you more often than not have to ask for it to be made. Though I have been told at the Yosemite avenue store at 9:30 that they werent making any more fresh items (and most everything was almost gone even though they are open until 11:00).About this store on Olive -- its hit and miss on service, though the quality of the food is usually good. This one gets extremely busy at times and the staff sometimes looks overwhelmed. This one seems to get a ton of takeout orders.Front of house staff needs more training on handling Pandas own feedback survey coupons program. Customers shouldnt have to escalate to corporate to get something resolved, but I have, when a cashier deducted 750 Panda points from my account without my permission and the manager couldnt restore them.Overall it wont stop me from returning to Panda Express as a go-to because, as I said, the food is tasty and more often than not, piping hot and fresh if you know to go inside and place your order there.Just make sure to use the survey to politely let them know directly how theyre doing re: food quality and recognize the hardworking folks there when things are standout, or need improvement. :)

It was a delight. The food was very clean and delicious. For me it is one of the best asian restaurants in Daly City.
Panda Express
14480 Merced Ave, Baldwin Park, CA 91706, United States
This is a mixed review.Went to Baldwin Parks Panda Express Saturday night Oct 22nd about 9pm. I started to place my order. However, as I started to order the bowls. Some of the items I requested. Which was walnut shrimp, chow mein, and the ragoons. The associate said were out of that, were out of those too. So I said really you ran out? She said yes. So I order the fried rice in the bowls. As I got to the window to pay I saw some walnut shrimp an employee was placing in a box. I ask the young lady her name was Ashley wait you have walnut shrimp and she said yes it just came out. I said the lady that took my order said you were out. I then asked if they had chow mein and ragoons. She said yes, but theyre cooking them and will be ready in about 5 mins. I said why didnt the lady that took my order just say that they were cooking and itd be a little bit? I wouldve said yes Ill waited. Ashley apologized several times saying yes the other associate should of told you they cooking again my apologies. Ashley was very kind and remedied the problem. However, I feel the lady that took my order should of been the one to apologize. Anyways, like I said mixed review here. Im writing this review to praise and thank Ashley for going above and beyond to make sure the customer (me) left happy.
Tasty Pot
215 Lake Merced Blvd, Daly City, CA 94015, United States
*11/8/2023On a chilly day, my craving for something spicy led me to Tasty Pot, where I ordered the Sichuan Flavor Hot Soup. It comes with napa, beef slices, fish fillet, clam, aorta, imitation crabmeat, tempura, fishball, beef ball, zucchini, enoki mushroom, black mushroom, potato slices, frozen tofu, fried tofu puff, fried tofu skin, potato, noodle, and scallion. The soup itself tasted pretty decent and did an excellent job of warming up my body in the cold weather. What made the experience even better was that I had enough soup left to take home and turn into my own noodle soup for another meal. The flavors held up beautifully, and it felt like getting two delicious meals for the price of one.A pro tip for those planning to visit Tasty Pot: Theres a convenient parking garage right next to the restaurant, making your dining experience even more hassle-free.7/7/2023I recently tried the Sichuan Flavor Hot Soup at Tasty Pot in Daly City, and overall, the experience was decent. The soup contained a variety of ingredients, including napa, beef slices, fish fillet, clam, aorta, imitation crabmeat, tempura, fishball, beef ball, zucchini, enoki mushroom, black mushroom, potato slices, frozen tofu, fried tofu puff, fried tofu skin, potato, noodle, and scallion. While everything tasted okay, I was disappointed with the Sichuan flavor. As someone who enjoys spicy food, I specifically requested the extreme spicy option. However, the broth failed to deliver the desired level of spiciness and the characteristic numbing sensation that is expected from Sichuan cuisine. It would have been more enjoyable if the broth had packed a stronger punch in terms of spice.Despite this drawback, the overall taste of the ingredients was satisfactory. The variety of items included in the soup created a diverse and enjoyable combination of flavors. However, I believe that focusing on improving the authenticity and intensity of the Sichuan flavor would greatly enhance the dining experience.
