Thai Nakorn Restaurant

Overall very satisfied with quality/price of food. Friendly service too :)Update July 2018:Maybe I caught the server on a bad day, but the service was quite appalling. We walked in for lunch on a weekend. We were seated promptly to a table without utensils; but soon after, the waiter brought utensils and the menu along. So far, so good....We waited a while for the waiter to come by, but they never did. I tried to get waiters attention by raising my hand and all that but they still didnt come - presumably busy with other tasks? But then I saw them chatting it up with one of the tables - wth? We were waiting for a good 15 minutes at this point, but they didnt seem to care that we were waiting to get *any* service.I lost my appetite/interest in dining here, so we just picked up our bags and left. Its really unfortunate since I remembered I enjoyed their food in the past, but I dont think Ill be coming by again.

Aji Ichi Japanese Restaurant
695 San Mateo Ave #3611, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
Placed a scheduled delivery time 6:30pm - 7:00pm through Uber Eats at 4:30pm on a Wednesday. It's 8pm now and my order was cancelled by the restaurant. Even previous orders if I call in for pick up it's more of a 25 minute wait but when I went to pick up I stood at the doorway watching what I thought is the waitress punching orders into the her iPad for about 8 minutes until one of the chefs acknowledged my presence (covid times and I was the only one there). My order was already good to go on the table but when I came home it was a little cold. Back to my most recent order - if you can't do app orders then don't offer it. I don't think this was Uber Eats fault as only restaurants can cancel an order and I tracked the driver who was in front of that restaurant for an hour (he was the second driver as the first one picking up my order wisely decided to not do it). However something definitely got missed as this was a SCHEDULED order. I feel like this place selective chooses which orders they want to prioritize as I was told by the same waitress 3 years ago to call in orders as apps take a cut. Fine, I would have gladly called in my order but I received an Uber Eats gift card for the holidays and I will use it. It sucks as I really liked this place, it's close me and I want to support small business and but I will not be ordering from them again.

Akagi Restaurant
713 Camino Plaza, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
Went there for lunch on Saturday around noon. Not busy, and no wait. Staff greeted and sat us promptly. Chose this restaurant because it was a mainstay during my high school days and into early adulthood. Surprisingly, its still here! That is a testament to the quality of food, the atmosphere, and the great value. You can get bento boxes for under $15.00, and theres definitely enough food to fill you up. From what I recall,my bento was called the Akagi California. Its comprised of rice ?, miso soup, vegetable & shrimp? tempura, 3-piece California roll, and choice of one of the following in chicken katsu, 3-piece tuna sashimi ?, tonkatsu, or chicken teriyaki. I chose the chicken katsu. I was hungry, and I still had leftovers for a doggie bag to bring home.My spouse and I shared a tuna ad hamachi sashimi. We also had cold sake, and a large Asahi ?.The cuts of sashimi are different if you order it as a dish or as part of the bento ?. The quality of the cuts are superior when ordered separately as an appetizer or side. The cuts melt in your mouth as a separate order, where the cuts as part of the bento are harder to chew.We had a great experience with the staff, and the food was satisfying. Even when dining in, the food came served in a plastic to-go container, which I found fascinating and intuitive. If youre looking for a fine-dining experience, this is not the place. If you want quality japanese food, great value, and a place that wouldnt necessarily be a place to impress a date, then this is the place to go.*Update: visited 8/24/22 for dine-in with my wife, and the food was still good as expected. I highly commend ? the staff, which consisted of two servers on the floor. They were amazing given that the restaurant was at full capacity, and they were working as efficiently as possible without stressing out. The male server took orders, delivered the food, and bussed the tables. He and the other server/busser were awesome. I highly recommend this place for its quality of food, excellent service, and great value.

Dumpling Era

Food was good, not mind-blowing or anything. They make their noodles in-house, which is cool. Not a great experience, though. The food came out on dishes and bamboo steamer baskets, but everything else was disposable. We ate off of paper plates or out of to-go boxes. Paper cups were provided for drinking water and we were given plastic utensils. They didnt provide cups or ice with the sodas we ordered; those folks in our party asked for ice and received it in mismatched to-go containers, one of which was clearly intended for soup. The menus were also to-go style, printed on a glossy folded paper. There was a lot of confusion over the food. The waitress came back after taking our orders to tell us that they were out of one of the things we ordered, but she was unable to clearly communicate what it was. Another person came over, but we never figured it out and they wound up leaving again without resolution. She didnt remember who had ordered what she didnt want to speak up when bringing out the food; we sort of had to figure out what everything was and it didnt help that the order wasnt quite right. Some of what we ordered never came and we received more than expected of other things. The place was a bit dingy and the restroom was downright grimy with no soap in the dispenser. They did keep the water coming and we appreciated that, but it also seemed like they ran out of ice partway through the meal. Its really unfortunate since they are a block from my place, but cleanliness and quality of service just werent there and the food didnt make up for it. We wont be going back. I wouldnt dream of taking family or friends here.

Just too dirty. The thick layer of dust on blinds, the cobwebs in corner, the sauce on the walls and the crusty/nasty brown teapot they were pouring my tea from. Before I even got food my hands were sticky. My fiance is asian and he even said this was the dirtiest restaurant hed been to authentic or not its grungy!

Ichiban Sushi
352 El Camino Real, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
Every time Ive been here, Ive been surprised at the low cost. This place is right next to a higher end sushi joint, but sells rolls and the like for much less, and it honestly feels like a hidden gem because of it. They have some in-ground seating which requires you to take off your shoes, but they also have some standard tables and bench seating along one side of the place. The food is always delicious. I usually got for the tempura and teriyaki chicken (sometimes beef) bento with some CA rolls, a standard American palette classic, and its always good. My boyfriend appreciates the multiple different cooked rolls and the flowing green tea. His picky-as-ever kid happily ate her cucumber rolls and tried plenty of new things here, which is a huge plus (we thought she would like other sushi places as she claims to love sushi, but would barely touch her CA rolls at rotating sushi!). The joint is clearly run by family as their kids will be on devices or doing homework at a table, but as someone who grew up in a restaurant, its rather charming to me. The place has a bustling to-go scene, and during dinner it never seems to die down. Im surprised at the low rating this place gets considering their price and location (I wonder how many people found this place after discovering the neighboring sushi place usually has an hour wait!) As the food will slake a craving and wont break the bank. The chicken is never dry, the soups are always flavorful, the rolls are always tasty and the fish is never smelly/chewy. We live nearby and come at least once a fortnight and have yet to have a bad meal here (though I will say the teriyaki salmon was not the best, but the rest has been fine). Give this place a dine-in try and dont be afraid to try some creative rolls here. I suggest the kamikaze roll.

Patio Filipino
1770 El Camino Real, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
We ordered plenty of dishes: bicol express, sisig bangus & pork, 2 orders of garlic rice, kare-kare, crispy pata, chicken empanada, patio sampler, bulalo and malabon. The serving size is great, we had plenty to take home amongst 6 adults who had seconds/ third servings + 2kids. Its good to share meals. The bangus sisig is my favorite! The crispy pata and its sauce were really crispy and did not fall short of expectation. Their arroz valenciana was not available as it is only on preorder. Its a good place to have small intimate gatherings: birthdays etc. Theres enough space to accommodate 50pax and not feeling too crowded. The service is slow. Our appetizer (patio sampler & empanada) came AFTER we had our first round of meals. If theyre short staffed in the kitchen, i feel bad for the cooks maybe they need to hire more people. It was Saturday when we visited and definitely people were flockin in. They have no desserts on the menu. Overall, i would probably go back if i wanted Filipino dishes once in a while so im going to rate this as OK.

Sarku Japan
1150 El Camino Real Suite 184, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
Sarku of Japan is one of those fast food restaurants you need to go yourself to make sure you get what you paid for, especially during end of quarter sales periods.Remember the old scams of paying for hot wax in a car wash to find out your paying extra for nothing? Thats the same thing that happens with double meat and extra sauce take out orders done through food services. The special containers they use cant hold the extra food your paying for to begin with, and when we placed two separate orders, one with extra meat and sauce, one normal, both orders had same exact weight and contents, so I basically paid $27 more for my family, to get nothing.Secondly, I find even when tipping a lot more, delivery will still try dropping off bad order, then confront Sarku for not including what was paid for. If you want extra sauce, want that double meat you paid for, be prepared to go there yourself which I normal do as even then they will try skimping out on the extras if your not there to make sure its done. Todays dinner was more chicken on plain rice than chicken teriyaki with sauce over rice. Go in yourself or risk getting ripped off. At least the food service refunded half my order when I sent pictures in immediately upon delivery. Sarku, shame on you!

Red Circle Dumplings
1230 El Camino Real unit j, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
We try to make ourselves try food at different soup places just to have that experience. This place we really had no clue how they serve so we just sat down and I asked the lady who greeted us what is a popular dish, mainly I just wanted wonton soup but due to language barrier when I kept asking for it she would say yes we have wonton in chili sauce but after a good five minutes I realized its wontons in chili sauce. We ended up ordering the Beef Brisket soup for two and a few sides with the soup, I didnt like the broth but you already know the brisket was good I just had to add soy sauce, chili sauce and ginger which made the broth taste delicious. They charge for each item and when they serve each dish theyll point at it on your receipts taped to your table. We also had leftovers so overall I cant complain.Funny thing when we charged our credit card and had it signed as we were getting up to leave the server tapped my arm and said in a firm tone YOURE NOT LEAVING A TIP? I looked at her like Excuse me? She then lifted up the signed receipt in the little tray which on the tip said $0 but then noticed just behind the receipt was cash where her attitude shifted and had a big smile, giggling Cash even better, thank you have a great day!I dont think that was cool because its up to us if we want to tip or not because a lot of times service can be terrible, rude servers, long waits, being neglected etc. anyways thats the last time going there, not because of service because they were good its just they dont have my wonton soup with the broth I like not to mention they dont have egg noodles ?

Mijouri SushiBune
1230 El Camino Real B, San Bruno, CA 94066, United States
Worst experience I've ever had. My usual place was closed(mind you is also $ one dollar sign)It took 20 minutes for a hand roll & my dad ordered 2 pieces of unagi & gyoza( definitely not fresh)There was only other person eating there. So I do know why it took 2 chefs forever, they weren't making giant rolls.( there were about 4 tickets with orders ours included)Don't even get me started with the waitress, any minute she would have free from taking orders from the other table(she really tried to ignore us) she would run to her cellphone. All you could see is her scrolling, and texting.I wanted to order some sake, there was no way to make eye contact. At this point I just want to walk out. As soon as we got our food, we paid & left. Never coming back again! The chefs weren't wearing proper uniform, they were wearing their street clothing, so you could imagine how uneasy that could make one feel. I don't want them to wear a uniform like a Michelin star restaurant but wearing the proper equipment to maintain cleanliness is more than just common sense.
