The Pad Thai is so delicious! They serve in a large portion which is satisfying. The atmosphere is unlike most Asian restaurants and is quiet, soft and easy. I instantly fell into this Thai fusion restaurant. They also have various options for vegetarian dishes. The interior design is elegant and beautiful. The service is really nice as well. I can see why this place is popular in the town

Bai Tong

This review is strictly about the service. We walked in on an early Saturday evening. This is a very small dining room., so we stood just inside the door, for a few minutes, but the two servers didnt acknowledge us. So i walked to the back wall where a podium was, and stood for a few minutes more. A man came out from the back, and I asked if he could get us in without a rez. He said it would be about ten minutes, and he will clear the table by the front door. He got it cleared in about five, and and motioned for us to sit... That was the last we saw of him. No server came over, no water, no menus...nothing... The servers were having no problem with attending to the other diners, but literally turned their heads away from us.I do have my time limits for situations like this, and at 15 minutes of being ignored, I stood up, just as the host/owner came out from the back. As we turned to open the door, he looked up at me, and then non apologetically went back to what he was doing... There was another couple sitting outside waiting for a table, and we explained to them what had just occurred. And we wished them good luck and hope that they get to eat...My money will go to anywhere else but here...

Hongs Gourmet
14510 Big Basin Wy #9, Saratoga, CA 95070, United States
After a disastrous experience with their service, my wife and I decided to give Hongs Gourmet another chance. We're glad we did! The food was just as good as last time and the service was considerably better. We sat inside for lunch. The spacious and colorful interior is a work of art, with soaring ceilings, flowers, and interesting architectural details. There were only a few customers, and we were all seated in a cozy side room with a nice view of the street. We decided to forego the lunch specials so that we could share my wife's favorite classic Cantonese dish Moo Goo Gai Pan. The thinly sliced, tender chicken breast was poached and then sautéed with mushrooms, snow peas, and carrots. I prefer spicy Sichuan dishes but I thoroughly enjoyed this. The generous portion was more than enough for two.We added the dinner combination with steamed white rice and chicken salad. The salad had iceberg and romaine lettuce and small pieces of shredded chicken breast mixed with nuts, sesame seeds, and vermicelli and tossed with olive oil. It was a nice take on a typical Chinese chicken salad and easily shareable. We started with a serving of four veggie spring rolls, which were served with three different sauces (mild, hot mustard, and chili pepper). They were crisp on the outside without being greasy. We wanted to try their Wor Won Ton Soup so we took home a large order. Wor means “everything” so the soup had shrimp, BBQ pork slices, and veggies in addition to the ground pork dumplings. The chicken broth was flavorful, the ingredients were tasty, and the soup was a meal in itself. This family owned restaurant will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2023. Based on our latest experience, I'm raising my rating from three to four stars. We'll definitely go back.ORIGINAL REVIEW (8/11/2021)Delicious food. Terrible service. My wife and I had dinner at Hongs Gourmet restaurant last week for the first time since the pandemic began. Their food was as tasty as always but we never experienced such awful service.Hongs is the only local Chinese restaurant where my wife can find her favorite classic Cantonese dish Moo Goo Gai Pan, and it was as good as she remembered. I enjoyed their flavorful and tender Mongolian Beef, spiced just right. Overall, the ingredients are high quality, the meals are skillfully prepared, and the portions are generous. The spring rolls and battered prawns on the combination appetizer plate were good, but would have been much better had they not been delivered lukewarm.Service was a complete disaster. Our server was poorly trained, totally inexperienced, and absolutely clueless about standard restaurant protocol. She couldn't figure out what we wanted when we asked for “a glass of ice”. After multiple requests, she eventually brought an ice bucket. Dirty dishes were left on the table when we ordered dessert and were still there when it was delivered. Our pot of hot tea never arrived “because someone else took it.” That's unacceptable. We'll probably return for takeout just to get their excellent food, but we can't recommend Hongs Gourmet for restaurant dining.

Taiwan Taste
12172 Saratoga Sunnyvale Rd, Saratoga, CA 95070, United States
Taiwan Taste is not the most amazing Taiwanese food in the world, but if youre stuck in Saratoga and looking for a place that kinda sorta does the job, this might hit the spot.At places like Taiwan Taste, I tend to order conservatively. Dont get some weird Seafood noodle dish that is on the last page of the menu or something. Go for old faithful. For us, that was the Fried Chicken Rice Plate and the Fried Fish Rice Plate. Both of the mains were excellently fried. The fish was really fluffy and tender, almost like an elevated fish and chips kind of fish. Both plates come with some stir fried cabbage, minced pork sauce, pickled mustard greens, and a tea egg.But seriously, this is the kind of place where if you play it safe, youll have a really solid meal.

Pretty good for Americanized Chinese fast food. Years ago they used to have a dish called MANDARIN CHICKEN that I miss oh so much ? I still dont understand why they 86d it. The closest replacement they have is Teriyaki Chicken. The sauce and texture are close, but the chicken tends to be too dry quite often. Im not sure if they overcook it or dont let the meat rest before slicing or if it just dries out sitting in the pan, but I have learned to ask for extra sauce on the side in an attempt to remedy that situation. Also be warned that the teriyaki chicken is very messy when they use one of those cardboard Chinese takeout boxes and the sauce is likely to spill inside the bag if it tips over at all, so asking for sauce on the side might not be a bad idea. The last time I went the broccoli in the broccoli beef was really hard -- almost like it was completely raw or just hardened from dry heat. The stalks were too hard to even chew on and the flourettes were barely edible. ? Looking at the broccoli beef, I eventually realized it didnt have any sauce. Even the beef was pretty dry and not a drop of sauce in sight. This could very well be the reason why the broccoli was so hard and dry. Broccoli beef is supposed to be made with oyster sauce! This adds so much flavor and softens the broccoli while cooking. Odd thing is, after looking at other peoples photos, it looked like their broccoli beef was dry without sauce as well! I doubt they all stopped in on the same day I did, so it makes me wonder if the lack of sauce is intentional. ? The beef clearly makes the dish non-vegan, so I dont know why theyd skip the sauce. I suppose it will remain one of the worlds greatest unsolved mysteries. ?During my visit they were doing some fundraising for a charity program of some sort. I dont know what it was because the cashier seemed unable to pronounce the name of it and stammered a bit while asking, but I donated a dollar anyway.Orange chicken seems to be their most popular dish and I do like it. Still a little strange to me that they dont have sweet & sour pork, but I suppose chicken is more Californian style.Theres just something satisfying about hot Chinese takeout on a cold, rainy day, isnt there? Its easy to eat your fill and save the rest for later. Its easy to reheat and just as good the next day. Im also glad they switched to plastic to-go containers because the paper fold-over style just soaks up any sauce or moisture from the food and gets soggy.

This was my second pho experience and Ive been back twice since! I have to really he un the mood for pho and, when I am, this is my go-to! Its so reasonable price wise, excellent service (server even remembered my order last time I came!) Food cones quick, hot, very flavorful and fulfilling. I am not a huge fan of the tofu even though it wasnt bad-just not my favorite. Came back and tried the chicken, was very thin and tender, bowls are huge, the meat selections and variety make a small but very optional menu. Place is so clean, tranquil atmosphere but casual and great for lunch or dinner any day! Cant wait to eat this during the winter!

Tian-jin roasted chestnuts

Soft, glutinous and sweet, the skin is thin and easy to peel, fried and sold freshly. I feel very lucky to be able to eat fried chestnuts with sugar in the Bay Area.

GOGA
14443 Big Basin Wy Unit C, Saratoga, CA 95070, United States
Hidden culinary gem tucked away behind the UPS store on Big Basin Way Saratoga, in the back public parking. A chef d’oeuvre of Continental, Asian Fusion and Nouvelle cuisine. Chef Brad and his wife, Helen do not disappoint with mouth-watering, succulent food and warm personalized table service. Goga resembles a simple Parisian neighborhood restaurant; wife is the maitre’d, husband is the chef serving a prefix meal prepared with the freshest daily “find” discovered at market. I was delighted by my delectable 4 course prefix dinner; fresh crab cakes delightfully crispy, fresh fish with squash, wagyu beef-all came with amazing sauces. The final course was a warm chocolate cake so moist it melted in my mouth. Small, unpretentious restaurant with 6-7 tables, high top bar over looking the kitchen, prefix dinner, ala carte menu, lunch, brunch and a nice wine list. Once discovered this treasure will be in high demand and reservations will be hard to get.

Sues Gallery Cafe
14665 Big Basin Wy, Saratoga, CA 95070, United States
Sues Gallery Café is such a cute and minimalist cafe that has great drinks and pastries. Its a small cafe that has two floors of seating, plus seating outdoors. Its a perfect place to come and relax, talk with friends, or study at.《Parking》In my experience, I usually parked on the street or park blocks away closer to the downtown part of Saratoga where they have parking lots behind the businesses.《Food & Drinks》I usually order their Matcha latte, both cold and hot drinks. If you order lattes hot, they make such pretty latte art! I wish I could create such art like they do. My second time coming here, I ordered their cream puffs. They didnt put it out on display, so I was afraid they ran out since its usually a hit or a miss to get. Apparently some people will buy out their whole supply for the day, making them run out. I was lucky that day and got both Vanilla and Matcha flavored cream puffs!! Both were filled nicely with their cream inside, with sprinkled powder on top. Theyre ($3.75) each cream puff, and in decent size. I couldnt believe how perfect they were, in taste and in appearance!! I will be back for more.

Fire Wings
1010 El Paseo de Saratoga, San Jose, CA 95130, United States
I've been to the Paseo Fire Wings, a handful of times, and everyone there is always incredibly helpful since they have so many different sauces/dry rubs to choose from. It always takes me a while to choose! Lol. On occasion, I have asked employees which sauce they like and what they could recommend and they're always very helpful with asking. What types of flavors I choose to eat outside of the restaurant.I love their deals on Mondays, and Tuesdays where you can get boneless wings for $.85!I also love their outdoor seating area which is perfect for my puppies since it's fenced in and they're on a leash where we can watch the game with the windows peering into the restaurant.Im also obsessed with their new chicken sandwiches! I love the Louisiana chicken sandwich and then I add on the coleslaw. It gives it a nice, cool crunch! It's so spicy and delicious!! it's a foodie must try!!. I am definitely a fan and will be back again and again!
