Diamond Palace Chinese Seafood
225 Gentle Springs Ln, Diamond Bar, CA 91765, United States
Worst experience in years, seriously. Wife and I desired Chinese food, drove to diamond bar and discovered one of our fav locations were closed for the afternoon. I remembered a decent Chinese restaurant a few blocks away and so thats when we rolled into this so called palace. I should have followed my instinct when there was a worker bleaching and cleaning what appeared to be seafood spilled on the sidewalk in adjacent to the entrance. I know believe someone must have barfed outside of the restaurant. Front doors were wide open and being hungry we were eager to try out. There were cars in the parking lot which is typically an indication of patrons. As we entered we noticed the restaurant was empty except for a large family gathering possibly of about twenty plus seated together. A woman approached us with a less than welcoming greet. My impression was that we were not welcomed but different cultures can be misread. We were seated and and paper menus were provided with a pot of tea. Nothing else on table. Approximately 1 minute later same woman server stood at our table with a look of what do you want to order with her pad in hand. I knew what I wanted before I walked in, house special rice. My wife was still reviewing menu and server was annoyed that my wife didnt understand what she wanted after a minute to review menu. I ask politely, another couple minutes please and an the annoyed server scurried away tho promptly returned. Wife orders hard noodles with chicken and server scurried away. Gentlemen brings our plates and somewhat drops the plates on table and scurried away. Im thinking oh, hes probably going to get water, soy sauce, maybe some fried noodles. Nope, no one asked us about drinks, or can we get you something else?We proceed to start eating and the special rice had very small size pork chunks maybe and some shrimp. The noodles were hard alright and seriously about the most bland thing I ever tasted next to the rice I just ordered. 5 minutes later I ask the wife if you see any server please waive down to ask for soy sauce. We wave the server to come over and its our happy server again, she sees me from across the room and starts our way. From a couple of tables back she addresses me by asking what? Im like what the hell? She grabs a soy sauce and plops on table and scurried away again. Wife and I look at each other like huh? We are not wanted here for sure. I ask for containers to go and she rudely drops on table. My wife and I or 60 years and dressed appropriately, and I take my hat off at the table but dont get it.Dont do it! You will be disappointed in the food and more at the rude service there.

Jade House

Dive-y Chinese restaurant in Diamond Bar. Came here around 5:30pm for an early dinner with my parents and were seated immediately. Credit cards are accepted but there’s a minimum charge of ~$15. No checks are accepted. There’s indoor dining available (no outdoor seating) as well as takeout. They cater too, and most people who came seemed to have opted for that. There’s a variety of seafood options, and my mom particularly liked the fish maw soup, which has a texture similar to egg drop soup but with pieces of fish. The fried chicken with macadamia but was something that I hadn’t seen before, and wanted to try. The brown sauce is similar to what my mom would cook at home and came with whole pieces of roasted macadamia nuts. The BBQ pork fried rice was standard, and the pork came in small pieces. The food comes with jasmine tea. It’s your standard authentic Asian spot that’s a bit of a hole in the wall (it’s located in the Walmart center), but the service was kind and the food prices were reasonable (~$55 for the 3 of us).

Old Chengdu Restaurant
1220 S Diamond Bar Blvd D, Diamond Bar, CA 91765, United States
I strongly suspect it is a pre-made dish! I have eaten at their house no less than five times before, but tonight I ordered two dishes that seemed wrong at first glance. There were no more than ten pieces of sausage in the dry pot sausage, all of which were filled with pork belly. There was a thick layer of bean sprouts underneath. Not fried and completely tasteless. The potatoes, green peppers and other ingredients in the fish-flavored eggplant are all half-cooked. It feels like the materials are processed in advance, put together temporarily and heated in a microwave oven before being sold. There is no sincerity in the Chinese food business. Stop fooling consumers. I am very disappointed. I used to think this restaurant was delicious, but now it has completely changed. I will never go there again.A huge shame to Chinese cuisine. Highly suspect they changed management, now all dishes tasted like theyre processed in a factory and microwaved before serving. Its not just the bad taste of food, Im worried about the source of the ingredients and whether theyre safe to consume. Will never go back again. I want my money back.

Major Dumplings

I usually drive pass this going to work and wanted to try it. I got their Xiao long bao ($10.99) for my family to try. Very juicy and plenty of meat. I also got their Beef rolls ($10.99) to try, it had plenty of chopped green onions and cilantro, a bit oily for my family but I liked it.Their menu is extensive of various flavors of dumplings, small appetizers, small salads of spicy potato salad, cucumber salad, sweet sour radish, garlic seaweed, fungus salad, and sweet pickled cabbage. They also make mixed noodles, wontons and bento box. They also have a dumpling combo where you can have two flavors of dumplings with a side of lemon tea and two eggrolls. They have pork and napa cabbage, 3 flavors, pork and celery, pork and fennel, fish and chives, lamb, beef, and chicken flavors to try.Its located in the corner of a plaza with a few tables inside, majority of the people got their orders to go. The staff was nice and the place is clean, they have a stamp card.

Hot Spot Nabe

Nice gem hidden away in a small strip mall. Restaurant is not your typical Asian restaurant, but more of a hybrid hot pot style with special home style dishes run by a nice friendly couple. Restaurant is not that big and our group of 9 took up the entire dining area. Their food is home style cooking with simple creative ingredients without the excessive oil or savory taste found in a typical restaurant. Prices are cheap considering the high cost of living and the amount of food you get.The menu options are minimal, but so we went with the Chef's recommendations (some were not on the menu) for most of our selection and the Chef did not disappoint. Unlike a typical big restaurant with multiple Chef's, the dish came out one by one allowing you to enjoy dishes slowly without the next one getting cold. We started off with a few apetizers to include a hand made fried shrimp cake, cold cut pig ears, and their free range style chicken that came with some dipping sauces. Chicken was poached just right with good fresh taste and texture. Restaurant is more towards the spicy side so if spice it not your thing, inform the Chef. The pepper pork belly chicken soup is hearty and flavorful with a good dash of pepper (Asians believe this type of soup keeps the body warm). Their fried quail was excellent with good glistening color and not too dry. Salt and Pepper shrimp had good taste but instead of using peppers, it appears they use peppers and Sichuan pepper (numbing) for a non traditional taste. The Tofu and BBQ pork is a stable that goes well with rice and reminded us of the days where we had to quickly eat a hearty rice dish and get back to work. The fish came in a big bowl with some vegetables and had some soup (felt more like a casserole) For dessert, you won't find any mango putting. We opted for the purple glutinous rice with coconut milk, and the peach gum with coconut milk. We found the purple glutinous rice more to our liking to round out this meal.

Truly is one of the last best and classy restaurant in Diamond Bar. Amazingly affordable lunch and dinner specials. Old school Chinese sit-down restaurant with super friendly and attentive staff who are very well mannered and well dressed. Great cocktail drinks paired with deliciously cooked food. One of Diamond Bars hidden gems.

Very good Chinese breakfast restaurant. Only Chinese restaurant that Ive seen openly display their non-asian chefs. Food is absolutely delicious and I will be coming again. They didnt have the Chinese donut this time for some reason but will be trying to get it next time. Its a sit-down restaurant emulating the food courts in Asia so there is not really a service fee. Luv it ?
