New Capital Seafood Restaurant
1330 Fullerton Rd, Rowland Heights, CA 91748, United States
Updated October 2020Updated for covid: they're currently open for takeout. You can call ahead or go inside to place your order on one of the paper sheets. Credit cards are accepted, and parking is easily available in the strip mall's parking lot. Service is quick, if a bit curt, and they take the coronavirus safety precautions very seriously. They'll call out the last four digits of your phone number over the intercom. There were still a lot of people ordering takeout, so either go earlier or call ahead to reduce your waiting time. The food is delicious. There's currently a limited menu, and all dishes are $3.69 plus tax. Get 2-3 dishes per person and you'll be solid. The custard bun, siu mai, and xian su guk are my favorite dishes. The beef rice noodle and the sesame ball are also very tasty.Overall, a tasty option whenever you have a dim sum craving.First reviewBusy, authentic dim sum restaurant with carts being pushed around with primarily seafood offerings. My family and I have been going to this particular restaurant for years. On the weekends there's always a long wait - get a number from the lady at the stand and they'll call it out over the intercom in both English and Chinese. We waited forty minutes on a Sunday at 1pm. You can hang outside or grab boba downstairs at the Ten Ren. It's not in chronological order but be aware that if you have a party bigger than four, then you might be waiting for a while. I'd suggest coming first thing when they open to avoid the long wait. They seat you quickly and you essentially flag the waitresses down with the carts and pick out what you want. They speak limited English but you can just point. They'll stamp your card so they keep track of how much food you order. The food is delicious, as I mentioned earlier, the family and I have been coming here for several years. Highly recommend getting the siu mai and the pineapple bun for dessert. Other favorites include the milky bun, sesame ball, and shrimp wonton. Ask for the spicy sauce - it's so yummy. There is a tea and table fee for about $1.60 per person. When you're ready to pay then flag anyone without a cart down and give them your stamp card.Only reason why this isn't a five star review is because the bathrooms aren't clean and it was difficult to flag someone down at the end to pay. For those not used to Asian customer service, know that it's nonexistent, and that's the case here. However if you come knowing there will be a long wait and that it's not known for customer service, then you'll have an amazing time with tasty food.

I tried this place and thought it was alright, until I saw the following report from the San Gabriel Valley Tribune today:Three dead nymph cockroaches floating in water in a large pot with cabbage were among the reasons a health inspector shut down a vegetarian Chinese restaurant in Rowland Heights in December. The discovery was made on Dec. 19 at Happy Family Restaurant, 18425 Colima Road No. 2F-B in Rowland Heights. In a report on file with the Los Angeles County Public Health Department, the inspector also made note of:One live adult cockroach on the floor by the mechanical warewasher.Three dead cockroaches on the floor by the mechanical wareawsher. Two dead cockroaches on the floor by the mop sink. One dead cockroach on the bottom shelf of the interior of the one-door reach-in cooler.Three dead cockroaches on the floor by the rice cooker. Two dead cockroaches on the floor behind the ice machine. Two dead cockroaches on the floor below shelving in the small storage room. One dead cockroach on the floor behind the chest reach-in freezer in the small storage room. One dead cockroach on the floor in the women's restroom.Cockroach fecal marking in between the white wall and metal splash guard by the oven.
Red Chili Hunan Restaurant
18977 Colima Rd, Rowland Heights, CA 91748, United States
This is a below average Chinese restaurant. I had an early dinner there yesterday. There was only one other customer. The service was still slow. The steamed oyster was over cooked. The steamed pork belly looked sloppy. The Chinese yam was average. The steamed rice was not fresh. The waitress was absent minded. I came to this restaurant several times in the past. I will not visit them again.
Kyodong Jjamppong Rowland Heights
18755 Colima Rd, Rowland Heights, CA 91748, United States
For some reason, I prefer this location over the one in Arcadia. The noodles seem chewier, the black bean sauce a little chunkier and the spicy seafood soup a little more full of flavor and seafood.Anyway, both are good, but will go a little further when I can to Rowland Heights and have Arcadia location as my back up :)As I mentioned, I ordered the jajangmyun which was awesome. Tried the spicy version this time and loved the extra kick. Never tried it before because when I craved it, I didn’t want the spicy version to be so different it didn’t satisfy the craving. Now I can say, it’s very much the same, but with a kick. The jampong was also nice and spicy with lots of seafood. Noodle were really chewy and added to the soup this time around. Last time the soup was not strong enough to carry the noodles, so I didn’t add many. Was very different this time around.Last note is for packaging. Koreans restaurants handle to go orders the best and Kyodong is no different.————Wow! Korean Chinese comfort food at its finest. I’ve been in search of good jajangmyun or black bean noodle and jampong which is spicy seafood noodle soup. I loved this stuff as a kid and never understood why I couldn’t find these items on a Chinese restaurant menu :) Now that I realize this is a Korean version of Chinese dishes and are more likely to find in a Korean neighborhood, I know how to search when craving. These places are still hard to find, but happy I tried Kyodong. For a semi chain restaurant, I thought the dishes were one of the best I have tried. The spicy seafood noodle was spicy and rush in flavor. Noodles are a good addition, but didn’t add too many as I order the combo with sweet and sour pork as well as the black bean noodle. Just couldn’t decide, so ordered all three :)Black bean noodles were tasty, noodles nice a chewy and I have to say their packaging to go is perfect. See how the noodles and black bean sauce is packed together but separated, so east to carry out but still separated until it’s ready to be eaten. The items were well packaged and still hot after a 40 mins drive home in traffic. Pork was in a vented box, so still crunchy too.Maybe it’s because it’s been a minute since I’ve had these dishes (over a year) but for today, it hit the spot and then some so five stars from me.By the way, service was pretty great too. Tiny language barrier as my Korean stinks, but we worked it out and menu is in English too anyway.
Chengdu Taste
18406 Colima Rd A, Rowland Heights, CA 91748, United States
Chengdu Taste is just another below average Chinese restaurant in Rowland Heights. I had dinner there tonight. The restaurant was slow on a Tuesday night. The food was below average but the service was poor. The dining room setting was messy. They required vaccination cards and all ordering to be done online. I will not visit this restaurant again.

MAS KITCHEN
18495 Colima Rd #8, Rowland Heights, CA 91748, United States
My new go-to spot! There’s not too many chinese halal restaurants in Rowland Heights so I am glad that this is here. The portions are large and the regular size big plate can fill up to 3-4 people. Sometimes it is difficult to communicate with the staff but otherwise, the food comes out very quickly and is very delicious!Parking is not hard to find as there is a huge parking lot in front. 10/10 recommend!
