Panda Express
689 Lomas Santa Fe Dr, Solana Beach, CA 92075, United States
Adjust encounter on this restaurant, which is Chinese run by Hispanics. A lot of discrimination well she the manager was giving a complimentary a free drink to Spanic. She started yelling across the room to a white person ( who really was spanish!) who is getting ice. Only you need to pay for that drink. did you pay for that. What kind of service is this is what they come here they don’t understand. United States is great because of the people know the ones that come and destroyed it. It is about God, not about who you are.

The Habit Burger Grill

A friend of mine ruined In N Out for me by telling me to order a plain double. It was gross. It was that moment when the whole flame grilled aspect of places really set in. I went form 2-3 days a week In N Out eater to maybe 2 times a year (those animal style fries well done). I've been a Habit man for years and despite my 6.3 mile drive here from work (thank god for online ordering) I decided to try the rest of the menu.I hate the parking in this lot, sure it's newly painted, but it's cramped and people drive around scared here. The location is on the small side despite it's large corner presence. The kitchen is always cranking, but also small. The staff is great. The manager is a tornado, touching every aspect of this place and you can see how it's a bit of a well oiled machine. The burger patties are excellent, cheese on the melty side, lettuce too thinly chopped, fresh tomatoes, briney pickles, sauces are on the bland side, but the real downfall here is their fall apart buns. Even with the Japanese burger eating method they do not hold up. Look that one up people it's a game changer if the burger is sturdy. That Golden fried chicken is perfectly cooked, but not brined, the window for overcooking it is much smaller than on the grill, which is better than most. I no longer get the combo's here because $2 for fries, $2 for a drink. That makes a $6.50 sandwich a $10.50 combo. Not with their weak sauces. It doesn't have a fast food feel, it's clean, it's fresh, but for me I get a double char, no lettuce, extra tomato, santa Barbara style and I'm good. The char grilled chicken sandwiches are very good and I'm not opposed to the Albacore tuna fillet either. Their chicken salads all use freshly grilled chicken, that warmth really sets it apart from some places where they chop pre-cooked on there, but again those sauces need bite. There is a reason you should get everything on sourdough or just Santa Barbara style. The portabello sandwich needs work. I think the tri-tip is ok. Onion rings are legit, fries are good, sweet potato fries are good, fried green beans, nah, give me Chinese style green beans anyday.Habit has sort of done everything that In N Out doesn't/hasn't, and there is a reason they too have become successful.
Pizza Nova
945 Lomas Santa Fe Dr, Solana Beach, CA 92075, United States
I hate to leave bad reviews, but this time I think I should in order for them to do something about it. Even though I was not happy with their business last week when they delivered pizza, tonight we dine in with my family . Their service was so bad that during the 19 years that have been coming here never experienced it. They brought our salad after the pizza, forgot to bring the bread roll and we had to go to the cash register to pay our check. The manager was having fun and laughing with someone which I don't know was a friend or customer. If the business operate like this, the resturant will be close in few month. Last week I order 3 pizza with three order of bread roll. They said they will charge me for two and one is free, but they deliver only 2 order of bread roll. I also told the I have a coupon, they said we will credit you after we deliver, and also they were suppose to credit one order of bread roll too. They didn't credit anything back, the $8 bucks is not going to break my bank but it's matter of principle. Anyway, I am your customer for past 19 years, and your service is degrading
Station Sushi
125 N Hwy 101, Solana Beach, CA 92075, United States
Absolutely abysmal service. We placed an order to go online at 4:05. Paid via cc. Confirmation stated food would be ready at 4:50. So we arrive at 4:50 and go to pick up window which doubles as a drive through. Im told food isnt ready, although I see a cucumber salad and teriyaki plate sitting there, which might be part of our order. Ok, we wait. And wait. 25 minutes I ask again. Food not ready. Mind you, half the time no one is working at pick up window, and people, and cars, are piling up waiting. At 5:20, after 30 minutes wait at pickup window, I try to call. I get voice mail with message box is full. After 40 minutes wait, I go in and ask a random waitress to check on order and cancel if its not done. She goes in. A couple minutes later, they call us to window to pick up. Oh, says window waitress looking around, I must have given your teriyaki plate to someone else. Oh, you mean the teriyaki plate sitting there for 40 minutes which is undoubtedly now stone cold and bordering on a health risk? Thats ok, just cancel it. She vaguely says shell refund on computer. We dont get a receipt or anything and she takes off before I can ask. Well see if I get nicked for the $15 item we didnt receive. The food? Sushi was ok, good, but not worth waiting 90 minutes. The cucumber salad was lukewarm and limp, probably from sitting out in a container for 40 minutes. We tossed it. The non-sushi eater went without dinner. There was no offer to remake missing meal (not that we wanted to wait even longer). No offer of a discount or comp. Barely an apology, just we are really busy and oops I must have put your teriyaki into another order. Probably one of my worst take out experiences ever.
Saddle Bar
123 Plaza St, Solana Beach, CA 92075, United States
Being just off the 101 is nice because you get less out of towners and more locals. In fact most people walk here versus drive, thats another reason the parking lot is filled with taxi cabs and not cars. It gets popping on any random weeknight. I hear they do goldfish races and other seasonal events. Bartenders are good, but they dont offer near the beer selection Id like (probably a licensing limit on their taps), but since they re-opened (hadnt been here in years) under new ownership they revamped a lot. They have a personal favorite Magic Hats Not Quite #9. An amazing Vermont brewery who managed to get their famous beer at stores and bars with surprising frequency out here now (Compass). The stage is small, but fits a dozen people, probably 20 if it gets crazy. The bouncers do their job, but arent jerks, Ive had good convos with a few of them. Though I didnt vape inside I did catch someone else doing it with an ego. I choose not to here because of size and my set up blows clouds. Full bar, more top shelf glass than Id expect, but nothing mixologisty fancy. No fresh mint and basil infused kool whip martinis if thats what your coming here for. Its always going to have this local vibe, this pubish feel, but the fresh leather and high seating along the wall and the wood give off this country vibe. They have a good jukebox with most of your favorite hits, even new ones. The DJ on Wednesdays is good, he really listens to the crowds physical feedback instead of going off into his own little world during a set.It can be a sausage fest, so I suggest you bring your own talent. The dancefloor has terrible ventilation and I have a tendancy to take off my shirt anyhow, bad combination. Oh yeah and their drinks are cheap a vast majority of the time. Weekends, its about average, but I consider this a weeknight only bar. There is more excitement to be had than this quiet coastal spot. On a weekend. Played some house, some EDM, some pop, some top 40 something for everyone, no country though. The strange thing is the crowd often swells before 11, but dies by 12 and swells by 1 and dies at close. Its because the people pub crawling on their way home keeps people coming and going. If I lived in Solana beach within walking distance and they had a patio with a firepit I would make this my new OMTIs (favorite dive bar in Oceanside).
