Kagura El Segundo

I dont think there is a better way to perfectly balance Japanese bento-style meals with sushi/sashimi as well as udon, etc. with perfect taste and a reasonable price. The closest in style of the menu Ive seen is Yayoi (northern California) but this joint is perhaps 10 times better and 70% of its price.First of all, in order to survive as a Japanese bento-style restaurant in LA is extremely difficult, let alone expand to multiple locations. So we were super excited to try this place out on our 4 hour lay-over from LAX. The El Segundo location was literally 10 minutes away. And my, the chef truly made things magical. We practically ordered the entire menu. Lets start from the tonkatsu fillet. My god, it was soft and crispy. Never had I chewed into a pillow-like tonkatsu. The bento-box also was wonderfully curated with sashimi, soba, fillet, tempura, rice, ... and Ive lost count but all for just $23... (mind blown). We need a-la-carte sushi with uni, hotate, salmon, ikura, etc. and again to perfection. Generous portions of fish, all fresh. And I topped it off with a cold soba with ikura sprinkled on top. This place is the epitome of Japanese goodness. Make sure you reserve or go early. The line wraps around the block.

Hana Haru Restaurant
409 Main St, El Segundo, CA 90245, United States
We are new to El Segundo and have been trying the local Japanese restaurants, as that is our favorite cuisine. We ordered an assortment of dishes and took them home to eat. The teriyaki sauce is outstanding and the chicken served with it was quite good. The spicy tuna roll was very flavorful without being too spicy. Tuna roll, fabulous. California roll was generous and tasted great. Salmon sashimi was absolutely fresh and delectable. Even the miso soup was the best I have tasted in a long time. To top it all off, the staff were very friendly and helpful and the prices were probably even a little low for this quality of food. Which makes this an outstanding find.

SALOON OSAKA

Saloon Osaka is a cozy Japanese restaurant with a simple, clean and modern aesthetic style. The food is delicious and they offer a variety of items including sushi, udon, tempura, beef bowl, and other common Japanese type plates. The staff was very friendly and helpful, parking is reasonable, and there is seating both inside and outside of the restaurant. Highly Recommend! *****

Kaya Sushi
2251 E Maple Ave, El Segundo, CA 90245, United States
Korean-Japanese restaurant near LA Airport. The name of the restaurant is Gaya Restaurant in Korean.Rolls, sushi, ramen, Korean food (dolssap bibimbap, stir-fried pork, etc.)The spiciness of the ramen can be adjusted using a miso base. The medium spiciness is a little less spicy than Shin Ramen. Kaya Dynasty Ramen had a lot of seafood and the broth was refreshing, which was nice. Rolls and sushi are American. If youre staying at a hotel near the airport and looking for a place to eat, its a good choice but a bit pricey.

Went in to order lunch for coworker, I went next door to place a order at China Express (Master Wok Chef must be at least 70+), my coworker did not want the green salad so I ordered the sum salad, they had bow tie pasta,,, after returning from ordering my food, saw salad..told them I couldnt take it like that because she was alergic to certain greens, the server said we cant take it back I said I cant take that to my coworker, she says she is alergic to it and she didnt order that. She responded by putting some pasta in a separate container, I asked if she would remove the greens, she became irratated and start cutting her eyes, then the cashier who took the order chimed in saying Its not her fault and its not our problem..I asked for a supervisor and expressed that a paying customer should not have to deal with such bad attitudes and customer service...the cashier continued chiming in, even after her presumably supervisor tapped her several times. Ugly young lady Tati...

One Poke
2259 E Maple Ave, El Segundo, CA 90245, United States
Terribly rude service. Poor quality ingredients. Small portions. No flavor. I have no idea how this place is so highly reviewed especially when there are better poke places right down the street.I placed an order for pick up at 12:05 and when I arrived at 12:15 it wasn't ready. I waited in the order pick up line to ask if I was in the right place for pick up and she cut me off and pointed to the line without saying a word. I got in line and waited with the 10 people in front of me. As I waited I saw someone come out from the kitchen. I tried to get her attention and she said no and pointed me back to the original lady who was rude at first. The OG lady pointed to the line again without a word. When I finally got to the counter they said they don't make orders in advanced and instead they wait until you get there. Not sure why they advertise skipping the line by ordering online then. ANYWAY They also said I needed to wait in the pick up line. I told them I was in the pick up line originally and was told to go to the main line by the other person. They were like oh well sorry it'll be five mins and proceeded to try to convince why waiting is better.Just don't go here. Ever.

Japonica El Segundo

As much as I was excited there was a somewhat-new restaurant on Main Street in El Segundo, I was pretty disappointed with the actual sushi.Atmosphere: 5/5They have both indoor & outdoor seating, both of which are a good mix of modern, clean, cute, and casual. They also have a large parking lot with free parking.Service: 5/5They checked on us multiple times and turned up the outdoor heaters when asked.Food Taste: 3/5Note, it's not bad fish, no one got sick, but there were bad flavor combos.Miso Soup: This was good, $2.99, and came out right away. All of their ramen dishes are miso based, so it's understandable why their miso soup was delicious.Beef Tantan: Get this ramen dish ($15.99) and you won't regret it. The only good entree we tried.Final Fantasia: Avoid!! I ordered this $17.99 sushi because it said Chef's Choice and had a lot of fishes I typically enjoy, but it was the worst flavor combo I can remember. Bluefin tuna, yellowtail, Scottish salmon, kanikama, cucumber, sweet onion yuzu ponzu, micro greens, and soy paper. It was missing either the tuna or salmon because there were only 2 of the 3 fish listed on the menu in the dish, and I couldn't taste the yuzu. It was my bad that I didn't realize kanikama was imitation crab, but regardless it really did not go well with the other flavors. When the waitress came back part of the way through me eating it, I told her I didn't like it and she asked if we wanted something else instead, so we ordered the spicy tuna roll instead. I thought she was taking this roll off our bill because we said we disliked it, but she did not.Spicy Tuna Roll: Avoid!! Who puts sriracha on a tuna roll to make it spicy?! I'm not sure if they were trying to be unique and creative, but this is not what anyone at our table of 5 expected. We had to scrape off the sauce after trying it on the roll the first time and being severely disappointed. Please, find an authentic spicy tuna recipe and stop ruining this dish.Spicy Tantan: Avoid if you can't handle extreme spice. Out of the 5 of us at the table, we all tried it (some with high spice tolerances) and it was unbearably and unpleasantly spicy. We could hardly eat any and left most of it in the bowl - a waste of $13.99. There should have been a serious warning. We enjoy spice, but this was ridiculous.

Mennoya Noodle House

This is a great place to come and eat. Im vegan and my boyfriend is not and we were both really happy with our 1st experience here! They completely understood and pointed out to me what was and wasnt vegan on the menu. (Their Ramen noodles arent vegan but the delicious Udon is!)What I usually find when I get vegan ramen at a place that isnt 100% vegan is that the soup base is kind of bland or just salty. The soup base here is so flavorful! Its a gigantic portion and I ate the whole thing. Also they have a spiciness level from 1 - 5 peppers.I chose 2 and it is like most other places 3.5 on the spicy scale!Tempura was hot and very fresh. I love the seaweed tempura!!The atmosphere is so fun and the music is really great. You will feel like you are in an anime or a jrpg. The one piece theme is so adorable. The seating is comfortable and theres lots of windows. There is parking around back if you get to the front and theres no parking. Also free parking on the street.

Blossom Ramen
130 E Grand Ave ste d, El Segundo, CA 90245, United States
Ah, dear readers, join me on a culinary journey as I recount the exquisite experience of savoring a delightful bowl of Blossom Tonkatsu Ramen, accompanied by a refreshing seaweed salad and a savory matcha milk tea.Imagine, if you will, a delicate symphony of flavors that begins with the first sip of the rich, velvety broth. The Blossom Tonkatsu Ramen presents itself as a masterpiece of culinary art, its base a deeply satisfying pork broth, simmered to perfection, carrying whispers of umami that dance upon the palate. Nestled within this luxurious liquid are tender, succulent slices of pork, their richness tempered by the subtle crunch of perfectly cooked noodles. But the journey does not end there. Complementing this robust centerpiece is a seaweed salad, a verdant array of marine greens that provide a refreshing counterpoint to the ramen's depth. Each bite is a burst of oceanic freshness, with a hint of sesame that lingers pleasantly, evoking the gentle sway of seaweed in the coastal tides. And to complete this harmonious trio, a savory matcha milk tea stands as the final note in this culinary overture. The matcha's earthy bitterness melds seamlessly with the creamy milk, creating a beverage that is both soothing and invigorating. It is a perfect companion to the rich tones of the ramen and the crisp notes of the seaweed salad. In this trifecta of taste, we find a microcosm of culinary excellence, a testament to the delicate balance of flavors that nature, and a skilled chef, can provide. Truly, an experience to be savored and remembered.
