Cute little restaurant in Emeryville. The service was great and the food was delicious. I was surprised that they serve Japanese Sandos, I dont see a lot of restaurants serve that dish in the East Bay. The inside is adorable, my BF and I had a great little date night here. Definitely recommend!

Las Brasas Peruvian Restaurant

I saw that this place recently opened and was really excited to try it. My family and I ordered Lomo Saltado and the Ceviche Mixto along with some appetizers.Unfortunately, the Lomo Saltado was on the dry side and needed more flavor. The portion sizes were big, but that didnt make up for the lack of taste. The Ceviche Mixto was a no better it tasted like fish water with pepper, and the fish didn't taste fresh at all.We really wanted to give this place a try, but we were all very disappointed.

Daiso

Neat store with alot of gadgets and nitnaks to choose from.Youre bound to find something you need thats useful.I have a DVD collection and Daiso is the only place where I can still find sleeves and albums to put them in.They carry a wide variety of cushion insoles to make shoes more comfortable at a fraction of the prices charged by the big name drugstores. The kids love the Disney activity books and will spend hours coloring and putting the stickers on the pages.Too bad they closed the one on Market Street in Downtown San Francisco. We either have to go to Daly City, S.F. Japantown, El Cerrito or Emeryville to shop when the need arises.

Fogo de Cho Brazilian Steakhouse
5633 Bay St, Emeryville, CA 94608, United States
I will be DREAMING about the meat from here for weeks if not months to come. We went here for a birthday dinner. At first we were a little apprehensive about the cost of dinner (the all you can eat full experience was priced at $76 per person) but after getting there and eating there I will happily open my checkbook and credit card for them. Every SINGLE THING WE ATE was delicious. The salad bar was extremely clean and well stocked, everything was fresh and delicious, no sad soggy food there. They had high quality smoked salmon, prosciutto, dragon fruit, papaya. There were 2 soup offerings and both were AMAZE BALLS. The MEAT, OH MY GAWD THE MEAT. I will fully admit I only ate beef because if Im spending that much who wants stupid plebian chicken right? Every single piece of meat, no matter the cut was melt in your mouth tender. The crispy pork belly with honey and lime (sounds weird) was LIFE CHANGING.FREE FOOD: NOW FOR THE REAL LOW DOWN they give you so much dang food for free with your paid meal, we got polenta, fried plantains, cheddar with honey (which was a spiritual experience), mashed potatoes and cheddar tapioca bread balls (also life changing).SERVICE: It was UNREAL how good the service was here. I feel like since COVID happened service in the food industry is nonexistent but here it felt like seriously 50 servers per table. Not in the obnoxious go away type service, but everytime I could even think about possibly needing a server they were there. AND it seemed like they actually WANTED to be there. Every server was super nice and happy. I would pay extra just to get this level of service at other places. If youre wondering about cost FORGET ABOUT IT. Think about if if you go Outback Steakhouse you would be ordering prime rib for around $40, but Fogo you prime rib is like one of their WORST cuts, you can order ONLY filet mignon for your entire meal and UNLIMITED TO BOOT. Im not sure how they dont lose money but Im going back again and again.Definitely not an every day meal kind of place but for any special occasions this will be my go to place.

Summer Summer Thai Eatery
5885 Hollis St #50, Emeryville, CA 94608, United States
Open for pick up and delivery as of March 28 during shelter in place! I opted for pick up to take advantage of 50% off all beer wine and sake special. Great vegetarian and vegan options. The corn fritters are vegan and sinfully delicious and the dipping sauce has just a perfect tiny touch of heat. I ordered online, call in orders are also an option for pick up. I appreciated the detail of the online menu, almost every dish can be customized and they offer vegetarian egg ok and vegan options right on the order. Other option are add extra “you name it” from a comprehensive list of their ingredients, we opted for extra broccoli in the pad se ew. Getting more difficult to find places open for pickup as many restaurants that werent able to keep going. Hang in there Summersummer, we need you and thanks for the delicious sake for a very friendly price too! Its easy to pick up and keep the social distancing because the counter is far from the door, and if ready, your order will be on the left table just inside the door. Thai comfort food, veg friendly noodle dishes, they can even make their Tom yum soup vegetarian and of course all the meats and seafoods for you carnivore freaks out there lol. Japanese type dishes too, rolls, edamame and whatnot. Thank you Summersummer for giving me the night off from cooking during the lockdown!

MT Sobek - Mountain Travel-Sobek
1266 66th St Suite 2, Emeryville, CA 94608, United States
First, let me say our tour guide Tomomi S. is hands down THE best tour guide I've ever had - knowledgeable, fun and made great efforts to ensure that we were comfortable and happy (MTSobek tour guides are independent contractors. Tomomi also works for other Adventure/Tour companies)Secondly, Japan is beautiful, clean and the Japanese people are very welcoming. The hiking in the national parks was amazing. It could have been a truly five-star experience if MtSobek had not cut corners so egregiously. The website said (at the time) group tours are 5-22 people. The tour gets canceled if the minimum is not met. When I paid there were TWO other people booked-a mother and daughter duo. Shortly before our departure date I called to see if the tour would be cancelled. I wanted my money back but Mt Sobek was “pleased to say that the trip would not be canceled”. In other words, I could not get a refund. At the last minute a guy named Matt signed up so there were four of us. Five days into the trip Matt left and took a train back to Tokyo. I said to him “You realize Mt Sobek is not going to refund you”. He said, “I don't care, Mt Sobek scammed us.”With tax, the tour costs $11,645 for 13 nights. For that price there is an expectation that the accommodations Mt Sobek chooses would be decent and clean. We all fully expected a ‘traditional Japanese experience' which often means no private bath and 8 out of the 13 nights we slept on futon mats on the floor. However, Mt Sobek consistently booked us in the cheapest Ryokans (hotels) in each area in which we travelled. Most of these hotels were unclean and very out-dated. One Ryokan they booked us in was listed on a hotel website for $40 USD/night when there were much nicer accommodations nearby for $100 USD/night. (The Japanese yen is way down, the luxury Park Hotel in Tokyo was $200 USD/night. A comparable hotel would have been about $800/night in Austin.). We were the only people staying in several hotels that accomadated many more people. The most egregious example of MtSobek's booking the cheapest rooms is when we were booked at a large traditional ski lodge at the base of a spectacular mountain. It was beautiful on the website but had two very different wings. One wing was modern, clean and beautiful with simple beds. The other wing was very old (similar to a cheap Motel 6 that had not been updated since the 1970's). The carpet and bathrooms were disgusting and like many of the Ryocans where we stayed the futon mats seemed as though they had not been cleaned In 30 years. Only after our tour guide checked us in did we realize we had been booked in the cheap rooms. I asked Tomo why. Immediately someone from MtSobek reached out to me and said, “gosh, I'm sorry you did not realize you were going to have a traditional Japanese experience”. Really? “Traditional” experience depends upon one's budget. In the US, “traditional” to some people may be the Marriott, a Motel 6 or the Four Seasons Hotels. We were paying for a Marriott experience and received the one-star Motel 6 experience.Upon arrival in Tokyo I expected to be met at the airport by a driver (as many tour companies do). However, several days before our arrival dates in Tokyo, MtSobek sent an email telling us how to locate taking a city bus from the bustling Tokyo airport. That is interesting if you do not speak Japanese.MtSobek cleverly uses great photography and elaborate descriptions of the national parks and the hiking while using terms like “traditional Japanese experience with tatami-mat sleeping” to disguise sub-standard accommodations. At one point we were looking on-line at the very hotel where we were staying and did not even recognize it from the website pictures. The hiking was amazing. The group size was disappointing with just the three of us. I would absolutely recommend a hiking tour through Japan, just not with MtSobek. Also, my trip was 6 months ago and no one from MtSobek ever reached out to me as the google response from MtSobek says.....

Trader Vics Emeryville
9 Anchor Dr, Emeryville, CA 94608, United States
Ive been meaning to leave a review of my experience having Mothers Day Brunch at the Emeryville location. Originally, I called the restaurant to provide feedback and left a message with one of the staff members to have a manager return my call, but no one did.The brunch reservations were made 1 month in advance via Open Table. At that time there was no mention of the pre-fixe menu upon making the reservation. There was also not a text message or email confirmation with the pre-fixe menu later. Therefore, we were surprised upon arriving that there was a $125/pp pre-fixe menu and $35/child pre-fixe menu charge. Since we made the reservations and drove all the way there, we felt like we were stuck, and it was too late to back out. There was also not an option to order off their regular menu which is much more reasonably priced. I will say I did check the website later that day and found you could click a banner for more info on the brunch and it did list the price after investigation, but I am 98% sure it wasnt posted at the time we made the reservation. We were very excited to try Trader Vics as we love tropical drinks. Mothers Day is a big brunch holiday, but this really felt like we were being ripped off. We ordered two cocktails each for my husband and myself, and the full brunch menu for my family of 4, and the total came to $475 including tax, extra charges, and gratuity!!!! $475 for brunch for 2 adults and 2 kids!?!?! The drinks were outstanding, but the food was just okay, especially for the price. It really left a bad taste in our mouth since we felt like we were taken advantage of.I hope the management team sees this review and decides to change their Mothers Day brunch to something much more reasonable in the future. Moms dont deserve to get ripped off on their special day! (I honestly could have used the money to buy something I really needed!) Or at the very least, please do a better job notifying customers in advance if you plan to charge them for a very expensive pre-fixe menu and theres no option to order off the regular menu. Thanks!

Ordering from here is a dice roll. At its peak, the pizza is great and the herbs are fresh. At its worst, soggy and lazily cut pizza. Recently, the lack of consistency in service and food quality here has been disappointing. The hot honey is good when it isnt tainted. On my most recent order, the hot honey tasted like a rotten fish fermented in it for a week. It had unusual oily streaks in it that i hadnt seen in previous orders. Not to mention, the same tainted honey was handed to me spilled in the box, as there seems to be no quality control sometimes. ....also... the servers forgot about my order after they botched another customers order prior to mine, hence the soggy pizza. After this experience, I will reconsider gambling $40 on a hit or miss pizza here.
