Kiku Sushi & Vegetarian

Excellent Japanese restaurant; very authentic sushi!Food I had: okra tempura, 7 pcs sushi, soba salad.* 7 pcs sushi: excellent! Both fish and rice are at the right temperature (slightly warm). Wasabi here is awesome: fresh and not too spicy. They told me their wasabi is homemade.* soba salad: Its the first time I saw soba combined with lots of veggies and made it a salad. But its not bad at all! Its vegetarian and healthy. I like that they included Japanese pickled vegetables in this dish besides other western vegetables.

This is my FAVORITE Japanese food restaurant (Lafayette) The fish is very fresh and served creatively. Try the white garlic tuna, the spicy scallops, unagi, the lobster hand roll and the godzilla roll. YUM!
Hiroshis Catering

Hiroshi Catering was fantastic. We had a last minute celebration of life and we had the very best experience. The professionalism and taste of food was so above and beyond, we were totally floored. The Katsu chicken sandwiches, fresh sushi, gyoza and so much more were top notch. The whole house was 1/2 Japanese or more, and the traditional flavors were just perfect.
Oyama Sushi

I cant believe I have lived in Lafayette for over three years and just discovered this place. In summary one of the very best Japanese restaurants I have eaten in, as good as anything I have had in Japan.Went for lunch. Started the meal with hot saki and toro sushi; outstanding, even the ginger and wasabi served with the sushi was outstanding. My wife had the sushi sampler with salad, I had the grilled miso sea bass with miso soup and rice. Everything was beautifully cooked, presented and tasted fantastic. As an added bonus, the food was served on what looked like a Japanese version of Heath pottery, nice touch. The restaurant decor is bright and tasteful. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Total cost for this amazing lunch was only $70, plus tip. Like Arnold said; I will be back! You may have noticed all my reviews to date on Google have been 5 star, this is deliberate. Life is too short to focus on that which does not make us happy. This is why I restrict my reviews to those things/places/services that make me happy and appreciate life. Sure, I have been to some really dreadful shops, hotels and restaurants etc., but, like I said, life is too short to spend time thinking and writing about them.

Sushirrito
3455 Mount Diablo Blvd, Lafayette, CA 94549, United States
Delicious, fresh, healthy, fast. (I tried the Sumo Crunch burrito (?)--it was delicious. The warm tempura, salmon & sushi rice were all standout ingredients. Then it was rolled up in what felt/looked like Bacos, but were actually red tempura flakes.) Price was right, and there are often promos available. (Tip: order via app, and try lots of the restaurant offerings here!) Tables out front, too, so you can tear into your food ASAP. Friendly staff (hi, Stache!), and lots of free, cold water (plus bottled drinks) to wash it all down.

The Sumo Crunch Sushi Burrito was pretty good. Conceptually, the restaurant works pretty well. The staff very courteous and handled a busy night and lots of orders really well. Good for late night take out, but low quality of food from my order. Perhaps, Ill try one of their many burgers next time. The Salmon Samba Burrito was more like a tuna salad wrap. Tons of lettuce, and the salmon way dry, like the consistency of canned tuna. It was so full of lettuce, it exploded open when I took the wrapper off.Tikka Masala Burrito with Paneer was flavorful, but its was gross and plain. Mushy rice with hardly any paneer. Not fun to eat at all, just plain.Half and Half Lumpia were extremely greasey and couldnt tell them apart, if I even got different kinds. They all tasted the same, greasy little egg rolls. Whats the point of Half and Half if you dont separate them and they dont taste different?Chicken Karaage also very disappointing. Not flavorful at all. Very bland. The dipping sauces on the other hand, everyone I tried was delicious. Loads of flavors and helped the entrées, but not great when the side sauces are the best thing on the menu.
The Dock

It was a very good meal. We always share everything and usually get a few first course dishes, one or two seconds, depending how we feel after the few firsts and then one dessert. We started with the Japanese Hamachi Sashimi, which was really fresh and had incredible flavor. Loved the passion fruit miso dressing. We then moved onto the Crispy Kurobuta Pork Belly The flavors were really good, but the pork belly itself was overcooked. I personally would of executed the cooking of the pork belly differently, but keep everything else on the plate the exact same. The combo of the coconut foam and charred pineapple was awesome. I think it could use some macadamia nuts for texture, but it was still a great tasting dish. The Charred Little Gem salad was a nice precursor to our main dish. Our main was the Maple Leaf Farm Duck Breast. The duck was tender and perfectly cooked. The gnocchi was a little mushy, but pairing it with the Davao beans help balance the texture. Like the balsamic figs and the slight sweetness it gave the dish.We finished with the Brioche Bread Pudding. We were planning on getting the molten chocolate cake as well, but we were so full that we had to decide on just one dessert and we definitely made the right decision going with the bread pudding. It was the best thing we ate all night. All the components were simple in theory, but they were perfectly executed. Could if eaten a couple of these if we weren't so full. To bad you can't really come here for an espresso and one of these.Overall, we really enjoyed the meal, service and amazing location.
Diablo Foods
3615 Mount Diablo Blvd, Lafayette, CA 94549, United States
If you love FRUIT, make a mental note that this market carries the best fruit in all of California. This is especially true during the summer where no other market offers the sweet peaches ect that Diablo offers. The excellence of the rest of the produce is a close second, along with fresh sushi and cheeses. Many folks have already pointed out the quality of the service, but I would like to be more specific to explain that even if you park far away, the person bagging your groceries follows you to the car which is EXTREMELY convenient and makes up for the parking issues. Now the bad news. Besides what most everyone has already pointed out with regards to the high pricing, I am VERY disappointed in the quality and selection of the fish department. I hope the owner reads my review and visits the fish department 10 minutes away at Market Hall (best quality/selection in 30 mile radius). I also disagree with the comments on the meat dept (excellent service with inconsistent quality meats) and ESPECIALLY the deli dept. The deli dept offerings pale in comparison to the selections and taste of the side dish choices at Market Hall. THE SERVICE IS SUPRISINGLY INCONSISTENT some great staff and some HORRIBLE ones as other reviewers pointed out and yes I can easily give examples. Furthermore, YOU CANNOT BE A WORLD CLASS DELI IF YOU CANT OFFER TASTY IN HOUSE ROASTED TURKEY OR ROAST BEEF!! I have tried for fifteen years, and both are still tasteless so choose the fresh ham. The owner needs to journey to So-Cal to experience world class deli meats!
