I went on a first date at this establishment last week. I drove about an hour to get to the restaurant, and IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH the drive! Parking was ample, right outside the restaurant. We didnt realize they accepted reservations, so we were walk-ins. We waited about 30 minutes to be seated on what was obviously a very busy Friday, and we were pleased at the short wait time. Staff is super friendly and engaging. Very knowledgeable about the menu. We sat at the sushi bar and had a few enjoyable and informative conversations with one of the sushi masters who had been making sushi for over 20 years. Our food was simply divine! I had the salmon mustard salad.....which was TO DIE FOR! We also had the Lion King roll.....PHENOMENAL! We ordered more, and everything that we shoved into our hungry mugs was DELECTABLE! You will be truly thrilled after a visit to this restaurant. You will leave wanting to come back for more!
Robata Grill & Sushi
591 Redwood Hwy, Mill Valley, CA 94941, United States
Tried this out based on decent (not great) online reviews.Giant sushi bar where you are separated from the chefs by some sort of rock display. To cross the rocks, food is thrust at you on paddles. The point of this entirely escapes me. Doesnt make for the best atmosphere but not a big bad point either.Sushi - slightly below average. Fish is not the top grade. rice is sloppy and not well done. Pretty obvious they dont have an all-star sushi team.Prices - average, except for the quality I would put it a little high. Definitely no bargain even though the food looks and tastes like it should be.***Worst was the waitstaff. Apparently they have been trained to rush you out. I dont get this at all considering the bar was almost entirely empty. The rest of the large dining area had only about 10 customers. While there is still food on plates they are trying to take them away. Bill is presented awkwardly in front of you while you still have food and drinks. Then they kept checking to see if I put a credit card inside. No, we werent dawdling - dined in about 30-40 minutes.Btw, I didnt get the cooked plates but I couldnt understand the basis for those either. They ran in the low-20s, and looked like something from a diner. Not many options in Southern Marin but Ill definitely cross this off the list.
Oni kuma
721 E Blithedale Ave, Mill Valley, CA 94941, United States
Oni Kuma is a new Japanese restaurant in Mill Valley. They serve Izakaya style food (Izakaya is a type of Japanese bar in which a variety of small dishes and snacks are served to accompany the alcoholic drinks). We have been a regular customer of their first restaurant, Shiro Kuma in San Rafael so we could not wait to try their new restaurant. Every ingredient was fresh as usual. Handrolls were very tasty, especially uni and crab roll is a must! Grilled pork jowl was grilled perfectly and went well with the sauce. The Japanese style steamed egg was light and melt in my mouth. We can’t wait to go try more dishes there!
Amberjack

I love Amberjack Sushi by their always tasty, fresh, and healthy reliable take-out / delivery Japanese food orders. They have an excellent wide selection of delicious sushi and sashimi along with their main set dinners to choose from. I have found the salmon teriyaki dinner has become a perfect simple always tasty dinner meal that I love every time I order it!

Gravity Tavern
38 Miller Ave Suite 1, Mill Valley, CA 94941, United States
We decided to try Gravity Tavern while we were waiting to check into our hotel room. It seemed like a really great place to hang out for a couple hours. There was maybe only 1 or 2 tables in the bar area that had patrons, but in all fairness it was a Tuesday at 2PM. It's why I rated the atmosphere 3 stars, wasn't good or bad just not memorable. We sat outside, which was nice, inside the restaurant was a slight musty smell & I like to sit outside anyways.I ordered the Gravity burger & my daughter ordered the Fried chicken sandwich. Both of these items were really good; a really good balance of flavors, burger was cooked perfectly & the chicken wasn't too greasy & she liked the fresh jalapeños with the coleslaw on the chicken. Also the fries were good, nice & crunchy. I would have given 5 stars except they were just a bit overpriced for a chicken sandwich & a burger & fries. And I had to pay $3 extra just for a piece of cheddar cheese on my burger.SKIP THE DESSERT— complete waste & way overpriced!!! I had the mini chocolate cheesecake $8 & my daughter had the Blood Orange Pot de Crème $12. The Blood orange dessert was a little watery & not really creamy & the cheesecake was so so dry & crumbly & almost had no taste whatsoever!! I took 3 or 4 bites before I gave up, tasted like cardboard. I asked if this is normally what the cheesecake was like & her answer was just basically yes, they were trying something different. I told her it tasted like a dried up bagel. No offer to remove it, just said she would pass it along. Also my dessert was a mini size & my daughters dessert was smaller than mine for $4 more. The service I only gave 3 stars just because she wasn't really attentive to the drinks, we had to keep asking for more water or iced teas & there is only 3 tables at this point. She was very polite though. All in all, if you decide to go, expect to pay a lot more than what it's worth. Also this is the only restaurant we've had to pay a “Gravity Employer Mandate” of $5.88 on top of tax, tip & cost of meal!!The only meal I've regretted on our vacation so far!!
Whole Foods Market
731 E Blithedale Ave, Mill Valley, CA 94941, United States
These five star reviews can't be real. In the last few years, I haven't heard yet any one resident of Mill Valley who thought that this store was well run by its management. Your luck of professionalism in your customer service, inappropriate amount of familiarity toward the customers, incompetence to keep it organized as a business are all disappointment to the community of Mill Valley.Yesterday, was the last straw that broke the camels back and this is the reason I'm writing this review.First of all, you have to start training your customer service team to start treating your minority customers without prejudice and discrimination. This is Bay Area and year of 2022.My husband and I are senior ethnic minority couple. We were told by your 20 something year old cash registerer to bag our own groceries, the store was nearly empty, as it was Friday night and there were no one behind us. The young woman stood there and watched my husband to bag our groceries. We both struggle with arthritis pain in our joints and would be nice for a young lady to help us instead of telling us to bag it ourselves. We will try to avoid this store if possible from now on. And we believe that it's about time this company take this location and management to their attention.I've read other responses you wrote on the rest of the reviews. They sound automated and impersonal. Please, do not even bother sending one of those automated generic responses.
