Our favorite Japanese restaurant in Santa Maria. We were here few years ago stopping by on the way home from Cambria. We loved the food back then. We had lunch again today on our way back and we were not disappointed. Well be back!
Yanagi Sushi & Grill

I’m from Japan and this is the best Japanese restaurant I’ve had around this area. The new chef at the sushi bar learned how to make Japanese food in Japan for 3 years. Nigiri and rolls are perfect! Plus they are very friendly and nice. Everything I experienced there was amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Mikado Sushi Japanese Restaurant
209 Town Center E W, Santa Maria, CA 93454, United States
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mikado Sushi, and I must say that my experience was delightful. Located next to the Santa Maria mall downtown, this restaurant offers a welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff and a diverse menu of Japanese cuisine. To start off my meal, I ordered three California Tempura Rolls, one TNT Roll, and one Spicy Crunch Roll. The California Tempura Rolls were a delightful twist on the classic California roll, as they were lightly battered and fried to perfection. The crunchy exterior added a satisfying texture to the creamy filling, and the combination was a true delight for my taste buds. The TNT Roll was a standout dish, packed with a burst of flavors. The blend of spicy tuna, avocado, and cucumber provided a perfect balance of heat and freshness. Each bite was a mouthwatering experience that left me craving for more. The Spicy Crunch Roll was another winner on the menu. It had a fantastic kick of spiciness that perfectly complemented the crunchy texture. The combination of spicy mayo and the crispy topping provided a delightful contrast that added depth to the overall flavor. My dad opted for the Yakisoba Noodles, and I must say, they were a fantastic choice. The noodles were cooked to perfection, and the stir-fried vegetables added a burst of color and freshness. The flavors were well-balanced, and the portion size was generous. It was evident that great care had been taken to create a dish that pleased both the eyes and the palate. One aspect that stood out to me was the reasonable prices at Mikado Sushi. The quality of the food far exceeded my expectations given the affordability. It was refreshing to find a restaurant that offered such a high standard of cuisine without breaking the bank.Overall, I would highly recommend Mikado Sushi to anyone looking for a satisfying Japanese dining experience. The delicious and well-prepared food, combined with friendly service, makes it a fantastic choice for both casual meals and special occasions. Whether youre a sushi lover or prefer other Japanese dishes, Mikado Sushi is sure to leave you satisfied. I cant wait to visit again and try more of their delectable offerings.
Hamasato Japanese Restaurant
230 Betteravia Rd # V, Santa Maria, CA 93454, United States
Theyre lucky I paid for the garbage they served me. Calamari was impossibly tough and rubbery. Took me 4-5 minutes to chew my first and only bite of my Chicken Udon. Server said well theres nothing we can do about it. Also everything outside of the small dining room they stick you in has worse ambience than a cheesy horror movie. I was seriously sitting by the emergency exit wondering if I should make a run for it or not, instead I paid $52 for inedible garbage, humiliating service, and a scary, unsettling atmosphere. Ended up going to trader joes and making my own chicken miso soup. Dont get trapped in this place like I did.

HaHa Sushi

Disappointed with our experience at Ha Ha Sushi in Orcutt, California. Living just blocks away, we were excited to dine in. However, the service fell short at every step. Despite ordering a large Japanese beer, it arrived sans glass. While my wife received her Ell Roll and we ordered an appetizer of shrimp, my Cowboy roll was forgotten. Though the manager rectified the mistake with Wasabi and ginger, the delay was frustrating. Eventually receiving my order, I was irked but maintained composure. The waitress overlooked my dinner until my wife finished hers. Even the payment process was flawed, returning without a pen for the credit card transaction. Despite the subpar service, I tipped 20% out of respect for the kitchen staff, recognizing their culinary prowess. Although the food was enjoyable, the dismal service left a bitter taste. With only four tables occupied, the focus seems to be on takeout, likely due to the poor in-person experience. While the sushi chefs shined, the waitresss incompetence marred our evening. Leaving a handwritten note on the receipt, I doubt it will prompt improvement. Regrettably, I wont be returning for dine-in service, opting for takeout to avoid further disappointment. And for the worst waitress ever, Ive written so you may understand why you should seek employment elsewhere and stop costing the owner customers.-In the land of Orcutt, near the sea,Theres a sushi joint, oh what a spree! But alas, our visit was not so swell,At Ha Ha Sushi, we didnt fare well.Just two blocks away, we strolled with glee,To enjoy some rolls, my wife and me.But the service, oh dear, what a mess,Our waitress, she caused quite the stress.A Japanese beer, we did decree,But no glass arrived, oh woe is me!Ell Roll for her, Cowboy for me,But mine got lost, cant you see? With shrimp in tow, and rolls in hand,The waitress forgot, it wasnt planned. No Cowboy roll, I sat and moped,While my wifes roll, she quickly scoped. But wait, theres more, the saga unfolds,My dinner arrived, after stories were told.No pen for the card, oh what a plight,Yet still, I tipped, with all my might. The sushi chefs, they worked with flair,But our waitresss blunders filled the air.Handwritten notes, in hope of change,But improvement seems beyond her range. So takeout it is, our lesson learned,For in-person dining, our hearts now spurned.Though the food was grand, the service sour,At Ha Ha Sushi, in Orcutts bower. All in all, I will probably never eat here ever again. There are lots of good places around. This one is not but only because our worthless waitress.
Sake Sushi

Wow, Id give them 0 stars if possible. Heres the scenario, we walked in were told to sit down. We sat down waiting for menus and a drink order so did a pair of gentlemen. Then three people showed up there was no place for them to sit. They arrived after us and the gentlemen. They proceed to clean the table for the three of them, the other gentlemen left. I was fine till they came back with menus for the three that arrived after us and the other gentlemen. I got so piss ed off we also left. Heres a tip for the manager who wasnt there. Teach your employees that you attend to people as they arrive. First come first served. Not serve as you wish. YOU LOST FOUR OTHER CUSTOMERS TO ATTEND TO THREE. LETS DO THE MATH? 4 $17.00 MEALS SERVED OR THREE. HOW ABOUT SEVEN. HIRE NEW MANAGEMENT AND STAFF OR YOULL SOON GO UNDER AND WONDER WHY.

This is my favorite hawaiian restaurant of all time. Their terriaki chicken as a wonderful char to it, that makes it better than other hawaiian and japanese versions of the dish.
World 1-1 Games

Absolutely lovely store, and employees. Ive been to many stores similar to this type of store. Once that have video games, anime merch etc. this store was impressive in comparison. Big space & so many cool things. They have figures, video games and consoles (new and retro), various brands of trading cards, trinkets, pins, lego sets, Japanese snacks, backpacks, some clothing and shoes. They have items in the categories mentioned above from Disney, animes, Sanrio, Marvel, DC, Pusheen, etc. you can also buy tokens from the counter for $5 to use on a few capsule machines at the doorthe store despite having such a sheer amount of items is well organized and clean. Stores Ive been to like this in the past sometimes are cluttered. All staff I met were friendly. The owner is also very nice. But this ^ isnt all. The arcade next door is also owned by the same family. Its run by the son of the owner of store part. The arcade is also nice, organized clean, sound can be loud but its an arcade so its to be expected. Plenty of different machines. They do have a ticket system which you can exchange for prizes at the back. Which aslo includes similar items to whats sold in the store next door, backpacks, figures, other anime Merch. They have a few crane game machines with anime figured and merch as well. The back, has a lot of pinball machines. Some of which are older rare types. All look well maintained and cared for.I live semi close to the area and it was my first time going to the mall and into this store. A friend was visiting and we came upon it while wandering around the mall. We had limited time and funds so we didnt get to experience the arcade much, but we definitely both want to come back to the point its a reason for my friends to come back to visit. Definitely check it out if you havent already.
