Ramen Shu
34308 Alvarado-Niles Rd, Union City, CA 94587, United States
Lets start with what you guys really want to know about, the Food!Ramen Shu is a Japanese Restaurant that specializes in Ramen; but they also serve meals such as the Chicken Karaage, which I had during my last visit. The Chicken Karaaage meal came with a side of salad, soup, rice, and a main dish of Tender and Juicy fried chicken which blew my mind! The soup/broth is a simple yet packed with Umami flavors! Rice is perfectly cooked. But the Chicken was just amazing. Ive never had a fried chicken thats juicy, crunchy, and tender at the same time. The sauce used in the dish also amplifies the flavor and aroma of the dish.I would also highly recommend that you try their Dragon Ramen and Spicy Seafood ramen which are a MUST!Heres a guide of their menu prices:Soft drinks/ Refreshments- $2.00 - $3.50Appetizers- $3.00 - $5.00Main Menu/ A la carte- $10.00 - $14.00Dessert-$4.00 - $6.00The restaurant has ample free parking for all customers. They arent practicing the traditional Japanese restaurant setting by keeping their western customers in mind. Thus, they offer an ambiance thats a combination of both Western and Eastern culture. The staff is very accommodating, friendly, and hardworking. So, please make sure to leave a tip if you enjoy the wonderful food and have an extraordinary experience at this amazing place that has an authentic Japanese Chef who has a passion and vigour to amaze people with his cooking.

Maneki Sushi Union City
31810 Alvarado Blvd, Union City, CA 94587, United States
Try to play safe for my very visit here. No sushi, just simple Katsu don. Still okay with pork but egg was over cooked. Lunch bento beef teriyaki ( for own choice to top up as you add on and charge $) beef was thin slide and over cooked no fat and chewy. A normal local Japanese restaurant with reasonable price.

Birdhaus Beer Garden
3821 Smith St, Union City, CA 94587, United States
Were invited to come out to hang here for lunch on Sunday by our family who had been scoping out the spot for a couple weeks for a Sunday experience. But had never been able to get in because the place had been packed so much. Sunday was also busy but not as much likely because the kitchen is not open on Sunday which means they only have beer and drink available. It seems one of the attractions is the atmosphere which is open space seating outdoors with plenty of cover for you to get mostly out of the sun. The table area is relatively sized and has additional seating with umbrella cover in the rear back. You would not think that a place like this would have that kind of space available for seating because the building for the establishment itself is relatively small. This appears to be a brewery owned and operated by Filipinos. Which makes a lot of sense because this is after all, Union City. One of the great Filipino congregation Havens. I would also say that the vast majority of the patrons themselves were Filipinos as well. Upon entering, there was a decently good list of beers available for order. Seem to be a mix of their own brew plus beer from other commercial microbreweries as well. My eye instantly was caught by the calamansi pilsner, which I felt was what I had to have because calamansi for me, is a well-known Filipino fruit or citrus which I often use in the place of lemon when I dont have any lemons available and it does the job quite well. Unfortunately, I dont think this combination works for me. Im glad I had it, but I dont think Ill have it again. I did not get a chance to try any of the other beers but the environment along with the outdoor music and the good weather and good company means I will likely come back to hang in the space and to try another one of their beer offerings in the future. I would however, recommend that you come on a day where their kitchen is open. Although I dont know how good the food will be, I would eventually like to try it because the photographs Ive seen of the selection look intriguing. That, and the food truck that stood in on Sundays for the beer garden did not satisfy my palate, and good beer should be paired with good food.

Daiso Japan

Next to Din Ding dumpling house, Daiso in Union City is One of larger stores in the Daiso chain. The store is well stocked with an assortment of household goods with Japanese branding. Most items are manufactured in China....to no ones surprise. Probably 90% of the items are $1.75. Some are more expensive. They have a good selection of cheap but functional kitchenware and other things you might need around the house. The items they sell arent meant to be durable but at $1.75 one would not expect them to be.Following Japanese product design philosophy, items are cute and functional. In comparison I wouldnt call similar items at IKEA cute. The store itself is a little on the dim and drab side due to insufficient lighting. They took over an old drug store and kept the lighting.

Tadamasa Ramen
34672 Alvarado-Niles Rd, Union City, CA 94587, United States
For my sons 20th birthday, he always gets to pick some place to go eat. Typically, he chooses a ramen restaurant. I like to take him to places that hes never been and on this occasion we decided to go for a local ramen shop. Classics being a bit farther out on a weekday after traffic hours, I thought this would be a good option because if you really liked it could be a go-to place that would be easy to access. The shop is located in Union City in the corner of a small strip mall shopping area. When we arrived we walked up to the door which was barricaded below the waist and on looking inside. That was some one sitting by the register in the back reading a paper. The lights were off and no neon signs were on so I called out to the fellow to see if they were open. At first he looked up and a. Surprised but he came over and removed the barriers and let us in and seated us. This space is very small. Id find it hard to believe that they can see more than 20 or so patrons at a time at the most and it is not a refined environment. In terms of visual presentation. Thats fine by me, but isnt something I typically see for ramen shops. I think the presentation of a ramen shop is part of what creates the experience for the ramen experience in general. For myself I ordered the spiciest item I could find on the menu, as I typically do in any ramen shop. In this case it was a pork broth with the typical trimmings of egg, pork slices, ramen broth, etc. I also asked them to kick the spice up to their highest level because I like my lips to tingle and am a fire eater. If you are a fire eater as well, I dont think this level of heat that theyre able to provide will be satisfying enough for you. My taste buds said to me that the broth was on the salty side. And as a result, I was unable to finish drinking all the soup. This is uncommon for me as I tend to not leave anything behind when I eat out. This only really happens when there is either too much volume or there is something that doesnt work for me in the flavor. In this case it was the latter. Now, I dont want this to infer that this place isnt good, but my particular experience wasnt one that is going to bring me quickly back. I dont think Id avoid coming here but I would return with a cautious intent to try another menu item. My wife agreed with me on the salty nature of the soup, but my kids who ordered the same item as I did seemed to be satisfied with the flavor, but indicated that ordering extra noodles made it too much volume. Noting that a small line of patrons had formed outside waiting to get a table, this tends to be a good sign that a place is well liked or loved, but as mentioned previously in this review, this could also be the result of there not being many ramen options in the area, and/or a result of there just not being many tables available to seat more patrons all at once. Now, but I recommend the spot if youre craving ramen? I do think it will work out even though my experience was not as good as I hoped it would be, but I think this may be a result of my ramen palate and I wouldnt use it to pass any negative judgment on this establishment. At the same time I do think there are better ramen experiences out there and I will continue to experiment with other local ramen experiences to see if I cant find a go-to that works better for me.

Great Plaza surrounded by restaurants and a dollar store with tons of free parking! Plazas should be designed like this because its smartly designedthat everything youll need is all around you including a Starbucks right next to Round Table pizzaria. With a set up like this? Why would you goanywhere else!? Plus an Asian Grocery store is just right across the street named Marina foods which is also surrounded by restaurants and aDaiso Japanese 99cent store. Its just too bad that Im living far away from this place for Id be roaming here every chance I get. A very highly recommended place of shopping ?!

Bar Bay Grill

Great place to go with your friends to drink and watch the game. The biggest size they do is pitcher for beer. Unfortunately they stopped having the tower. The restaurant is overall clean. Place is for diehard Warriors fan.Food:Oyster platter was pretty good. Not the best I have ever had, but if you are craving for raw oyster, you can get it here.Garlic fries were pretty good. The portion is slightly small. Not to heavy on the garlic. Comes with 2 different sauce, which are ketchup and bbq.BBQ chicken wings were good. Comes with a half dozen. The sauce is all over the wing. Sauce has a sweet taste and is between a mild and moderate spice level. Didnt need to use the lemon wedge on it for flavor.Spicy chicken wings were good as well. Came with a dipping sauce. The BBQ chicken wings tasted better if you had to choose one.The fried Calamari was good. Tapas size portion as well. Didnt taste like the sea. Correctly seasoned. Pieces were cut perfectly.Chicken karaage was really good. It was crispy and came with a sweet sauce to dip the chicken. Better than some actual Japanese restaurants. I highly recommend this dish.Baked oyster was probably the most tastiest out of all the items we ordered. The Mayo definitely heightens the meal itself. I would recommend this to be on your order. All the skewers pretty much tasted all the same. The wagyu slightly tasted better. Heart and gizzards tasted pretty good. Get it for the diehard meat lover.Service:Server was quick. The food came out quick as well. Nothing to complain about. Havent been here on game day so I dont know how they do during stressful times.Seating:Plenty of seats indoors and outdoor. I would recommend the inside since the atmosphere is a lot better.Amenities:There is one unisex restroom. For the most part its mostly clean.Parking:Parking lot is huge and free.
