Gen Korean BBQ House

Will never return. We ordered pork belly and steaks. Scissors provided cant cut. They replaced the first scissor but was not any better. The banchan provided was so little and served far in between. Ive never been so disappointed in a Korean restaurant as this Gen in Alhambra.
bb.q Chicken Alhambra
560 W Main St Unit A, Alhambra, CA 91801, United States
My daughter was craving korea chicken. We have had togo from here when they first opened and the service was GREAT! Today we went on a Friday about 1:30pm.. there was a young server and 1 table that was almost done. We walked in, he looked at us, then said sit where you like. We took the side table.. he gave us the menu, pointed at the button and said ring it when you need me. Before we rang, he brought us waters which was great. But he just felt like he didnt really want to be there. He didnt smile, make any recommendations. We ordered a Coke and a full bone in chicken 1/2 and 1/2. They use these small plastic cups which are really annoying and the plastic forks that they give us? They keep bending because when you dab the hot chicken with the plastic fork, IT SORT OF SOFTENS it and starts bending. Not the smartest. We asked for a refill on the Coke and he sort of looked at me like what?!..We were the only table for awhile. I went up to the front desk 3 times, and all 3 times (Whether there where other customers or not.. before we left there where 4 tables including us... he was always on his phone)He finally gaves us a smile when I was paying my bill..Food - was great.. crispy. Spicy.. yummyService.. - could improve ALOT

The BEST Korean restaurant Ive ever been !! I have been to GEN BBQ and the wait time is ridiculous 30 to 45 min or more by the time you are called you, honestly you are tired. Specially if you have children with you and they are hungry. The hostess are very rude when you try to ask questions, I understand they are busy and have alot going on buy I believe a customer has the right to be heard. So I left and I am honestly very happy I did and walked down the corner and found this restaurant... I always say dont judge a book by its cover. I had NO wait the waiters are very nice, I read a comment that they are young but let me just say they are by far the best waiters. The food is sooooo delicious they have a bar you can choose your sides. The grill gets changed without you asking the food was brought to our table right away with out the wait. Every single waiters works as a team to make sure you are taken care of. Im honestly very happy and will be back ! I suggest you give it try and you be the judge believe me you wont regret it !

Le Food: 2.5/5 starsBanh Beo: 3/5It came in small plates on a tray. It looks plain. The toppings were sparse with only small amount of shredded shrimp and a fried pork skin. Toppings tasted good but need more of it. No Myung bean. No green onion or chives. The rice cake texture was powdery, not my preference. The Banh Beo near Valley/New is much better.Pho Tai Nam: 2/5Really plain broth thats almost devoid of flavor. I had to add Fish sauce, basil, pepper.... And still could not improve the flavor. The rare meat was good and had nice flavor. The brisket was not very good and lacking flavor. At least it was not unsavory or inedible. The noodle was cooked perfectly how ever. Too bad the broth was not up to par. Go else where for Pho. Really. TheNem Nuong Cuon: I did not have it this time but from memory it was OK or a little above average. This is what many people are raving about. I did see the serving for the next table and it looked at least good. The premade rolls also looked good. Perhaps you should stick to the basic food here.Atmosphere: 3/5 stars.Hole in the wall, mom and pop kind of place. Limited seating for perhaps 20 people max. Nothing fancy; average up-kept. At least it was not filthy.Service: 3.5/5 stars.Fast, no nonsense service, Asian fast food place. Cash only. Pay at the counter.Expense: 4/5 stars.Cheap eat. Better than American fast food.Return: 3/5 stars. Not on the top of my list but if I want VN rolls, Id come back. Id not recommend the Banh Beo or Pho from here.Overall 3.2 stars and rounded up to 3 stars.
Sushi Caf
1221 Alhambra Blvd # 103, Sacramento, CA 95816, United States
John Birdman Joseph (FB)In celebration of enjoying the day of activation (my birthday), we all went down to Sushi Cafe last night. called in a reservation, got there, place was packed but they had my table. It was the evening to really have fun and enjoy their amazing food. Started off with plate of warm edamame--nice fat beans that just popped into a waiting palate. Immediately followed by 4 wonderful shrimp tempura along with their infamous oysters on a half shell with special sauce. All the girls keep checking on me to make sure my evening is the best, I said bring 4 more oysters with the special sauce. Served in a bowl of ice cubes, those 4 little pearls looking at me saying take my shell to your lips!!!!!!! Geez they just taste so good, chewing every bit to get all the flavors they offered. As I finished the oysters during which time I was enjoying my raspberry ice tea, out came the fabulously delicious Paradise Roll with extra sauce. Just melt in your mouth flavors of shrimp, crab, scallop and sauces all deep dried so there was that wonderful crunch. Also served with the roll were 4 more tempura shrimp, they are a nice size and that wonderful batter, you just cant make those at home!!!Now as I am working through the roll, downing the tempura shrimp, out comes the third order of oysters, OMG it is just heaven. The Paradise Roll stacked 4 layers high really should be shared, alas others ordered bento boxes so I was stuck with the whole rollI finally finished the roll, the tempura and the third order of oysters and the nice girl came by and I looked at her, stared into her eyes, smiled and said, one more order of oysters!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now everything is gone, just the fourth glass of rasebarrie ice tea, and I am given what I thought was the most delicious dessert one could have after a mind boggling dinner, the fourth order of oysters!!!!!!!r. As I slid the fourth and last oyster in my mouth and chewed savoring the exceptional quality of the oyster all I could do was have a big smile and say just fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!Once it was gone, my very cute waitress came by and said they had something special for me!!!!!! Ok then!!!!!!!!!!!! Soon out came this beautiful plate with amazing writing and the ever delicious Mochi ice cream balls. How much better could it get. Thank you girls, it was the most wonderful celebration of the day!!!!!!! I will be back!!! And yes everyone, I do enjoy my food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pokestuf Japanese Restaurant
401 W Main St, Alhambra, CA 91801, United States
Decided to give this place a try a few weeks back for the first time, and at that point the quality was spot on. Everything fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented.Im up to my fourth time having their food, and the last three times have all been disappointing with respect to accuracy. Thats 25% accuracy so far.Missing ingredients that were requested (including premium extras), missing sauce, instructions not followed, and overall the portions seem to be getting cut. Seafood I understand being very precisely measured, but veggies? A literal spoonful of edamame? Cmon guys, you can do better. The care put into the food is just not consistent, and is equally important to freshness and all the other factors. I would not recommend this as a go-to for poke. If youre in the neighborhood, perhaps.
Aloha Food Factory
2990 W Valley Blvd, Alhambra, CA 91803, United States
I am so sad to have to give this restaurant a one star review. We drove by it and I saw macadamia nut pancakes on their sign and told my boyfriend I knew where were going for breakfast! They were not that crowded when we got there and the atmosphere was quaint with Hawain keepsakes around the room and different surf inspired tablecloths I was immediately enchanted. I am a huge fan of mom and pop restaurants! We waited at the door for a bit even though it didnt seem busy and then I finally caught the eye of a girl who asked me if we wanted to go. I said no we came for breakfast. She then got a young man who seated us, menus were on the table....that would be the last time anyone talked to us for literally 20 minutes. Another couple came in after and they were seated quickly and then he moved a family of six to another table. I took the time to read the menu (Ill admit I stared greedily at other diners coffee) the menu had lots of things I hadnt tried before and I was mapping out in my mind how many visits we would need to make for me to try to order all the things that tempted me. A man came out, my feeling is that he was the owner., and took the order of the people that came in after us and got them drinks. Then another couple came in and the young boy sat them. I waved him down and begged him to at least get our drink order. Apparently he couldnt, only the older guy....so three employees, only one taking orders and doing drinks.he sent the guy out who apologized took our order and then went to the big table and took theirs before getting our drinks. Fair enough they were there even before us and it was a sad hungry comedy watching their table and ours keep making gestures at the waitstaff trying to order ( they were busy....um...chatting????)Another table of two came in. They got our drinks and the family table drinks and coffee made me a little happier, the boyfriend not so much. The. The food started to arrive! I got my French toast and then the family got their food...no site of my boyfriends order of stir friend veggies. I had almost finished mine and the two tables that came in after we ordered had their food... No one would make eye contact . Finally we got the man to come over...if you lost track, three tables that came in after us got their food, and two of them finished before they checked on us!!! The man said, what did you order? And then called to the kitchen for them to STARTt making it. My boyfriend said never mind were leaving. No apology, no, .let me comp your bill...nothing and the door was packed. I added up from the menu what we owed and left if on the table. This was THE WORST SERVICE I have ever experienced..,,EVER! I dont even have tips for people to help except dont go or maybe take out? We eat out every meal and try new places all the time and let me just reiterate THE WORST...underline WORST service ever...oh and my food was cold..how does that happen???
Alhambra Farmers Market
100 S 2nd St, Alhambra, CA 91801, United States
Bigger than i expected!!! My fiance and i have been meaning to check out the farmers market for over a year now, as it is within walking distance of our home. We finally had the opportunity this sunday and it did not disappoint. Its not one of those frilly farmers markets with all the bells and whistles to attract tourists. Rather this is the real deal, with a variety of local produce from mostly CA farmers. In fact, I didnt notice any from outside the state, farthest north i saw was a fresno farm vendor. The prices were competitive to the local ralphs and for that i would much rather buy straight from farmer. There are also a few vendors selling tempting succulents and seasonal flowers. If your hungry now, there are also a handful of vendors selling prepared foods and baked goods, yummmm!
Shabuya
820 E Valley Blvd, Alhambra, CA 91803, United States
? As a foodie, Ive always had my sights set on experiencing the pot of happiness at Shabuya Alhambra. So, on New Years Day, we ventured in with our son, eager to indulge in their promise of premium all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu at an affordable price.? Claiming to be the abode of happiness in a pot, Shabuya delivers a gastronomic adventure with freshly cut meats, a cornucopia of vegetables, an array of seafood, oden, and noodles. The menu diversity definitely impresses.✨ Our dining experience was pleasant; the ambiance was clean, and the service was attentive, elevating our visit. The meats were undeniably fresh, giving off a premium vibe that matched their claim. The seafood and vegetable buffet counters were brimming with delightful choices, catering to various tastes.? However, one aspect fell a tad short of expectations—the cooked food dishes. With only four options available, it felt limited compared to the extensive raw selection.⏱️ Its important to note that dining here is time-bound, capped at a 90-minute limit. Despite this, we departed feeling completely satisfied and stuffed after our flavorful rendezvous with shabu-shabu delights.? Overall, Shabuya Alhambra lives up to its promise of offering quality ingredients and a memorable dining experience. For shabu-shabu enthusiasts seeking a diverse spread within a budget-friendly, time-constrained setting, this spot is worth a visit. Our journey here left us content, having savored the freshest of ingredients and enjoyed commendable service.
California Hot Pot
555 W Main St A, Alhambra, CA 91801, United States
Ive updated my rating, thank you kindly for hearing me out. Looking forward to seeing your new updated menu posted, even though Im no longer welcomed.Previous response:In response to your reply regarding my previous comment review, asking to reset my expectations and yet you accept the 2 stars, along with not wanting me to come back to your restaurant is not a positive outlook response. As I noted on the comment before, your food is great and fair priced, service is wonderful and Id give it a five star, but Ive gone to too many restaurants where they promote a special, but the quality is downsized or omitted the inclusions. And yet comments are not noted to restaurant owner(s), which lets them think its ok to do so. Well I like to let them know its not ok and speak up. Think of my perspective as a customer who enjoys your meals because of the health benefits, rather than fast food, yet budgeted for the cost of the so called pre-covid price and only to be told differently of the inclusion and exclusions on the menu as we order from an outdated menu and its now above my budgeted expectations. I can easily walk out and make a scene, or support the struggling restaurants, but have to reconsider coming back in the future because of the sudden price changes that were not expecting. Im sure Im not the only one...Yes I am a business man in a different field and my clients are informed of updated prices in advance or revisions made before they come in and allow them to decide to stay or leave. In your case, Im finding out about the changes after Ive sat outside for 1 1/2 hours waiting for our turn to sit down and order, but not once were we informed of the changes so we could decide whether to stay or leave beforehand. I understand businesses have to revise their inclusion and exclusions to survive, but dont mislead your customers, give them a chance to decide before waiting a long time to sit down and felt bad to leave. Ill honor you the 5 star rating because I believe your meals are great health benefits, but not if you promote with that kind of advertising and outdated menu price inclusions and exclusions. Unfortunately, since Im not welcomed back to your restaurant, Ill never see the menu updated as well, in order to revise my rating. I truly believe that your restaurant is great and have read the background story for the purpose of your restaurant, but dont be another restaurant that misleads your clients, give them a chance to decide in-advance to stay or leave. God bless and wish you all the best.Previous comment:Id be glad to give your place 5 stars once you remove that bs advertising of pre-covid prices. Its not more than a bait and switch. I recently went there, expecting the main dishes with side choices and drink include. Now its either an a la carte, premium costs upgrades, and less drink selections or premium costs for better drink choices. I was really annoyed with the gimmicks that are another way of inflating prices.Just be honest, remove the sign and update your menu prices along with the inclusion and exclusion choices. I believe that sign outside is an illegal version of false advertising marketing. Remove it, update your menu, and Ill consider going to 5 star. Otherwise, the food is great, but cant support restaurants with gimmicks.
