Korean BBQ Chicken! Love it!... I know, its a Japanese restaurant, but seriously, the Korean BBQ chicken is the best.
Muzen Roll & Boba
14834 Burbank Blvd, Sherman Oaks, CA 91411, United States
This little “hole in the wall” Japanese cafe has the best chicken katsu in LA.Super fresh, light and crispy katsu breading with juicy white breast meat, served in the bowl on soft, warm rice with a side of lettuce salad and topped with pickled and crispy veggies with lotus root slices. It's so simple but so thoughtfully, well made. Truly a little piece of authentic Japan here in a random strip center in Sherman Oaks.I also had a nice warm cup of lightly sweetened Jasmine green tea on a cold day while waiting for my car at the dealer. It's a small storefront that seats about 12 total (4 individual seats + 2 tables of four) and provides a nice, calm ambience, with a very clean and tidy space. Nothing lavish but truly the perfect setting for eating some fresh Japanese home cooking. They also have an assortment of other sushi and Japanese dishes, along with crawfish here.I'll be back again for sure.

Submarine King

I wanted to like this place more than I did, but thats not to say its a bad place. You might be put off by the rough exterior, but the welcoming smiles and friendly demeanor of the staff will reel you in. Its clear they have gone to great lengths to make the most of their business; complete with chalk art, a large menu, and cost effective pricing. The subs were fine, but it felt like they skimped on the ingredients to the point I didnt really taste anything I was supposed to. The bread was flavorful, but I wanted to taste everything tucked inside. If you temper you expectations and enjoy friendly people, this could be a great escape for a workday lunch. It certainly better than subway, and much cheaper than a lot of area spots. Ill be coming back.
Cafe Elegante
2905 N Glenoaks Blvd, Burbank, CA 91504, United States
Update: I wanted to see if they made wraps and they accommodated. And of course, they were kind and the food was delicious! This is my mothers favorite Mediterranean restaurant and she doesnt venture out of her Korean American bubble... she says that the beef is so soft and tender... and she doesnt quite find that anywhere else.
The Mystic Museum
3204 W Magnolia Blvd, Burbank, CA 91505, United States
The place is cute and well kept. However, this small business should do a better job at facilitating their guests when they come in. I walked into the “museum” in the back of the store thinking it was apart of the experience. One of the staff there (ERIC) came up to me after 20 mins of being in the store asking if we knew about the tickets, I asked what tickets? He said we needed to buy tickets to enter the museum and proceeded to escort us out. I apologized and was gonna offer to buy a ticket and just leave but because ERIC was so snarky and rude with his attitude it changed my mind. I apologized again and told him it was honest mistake that I didn't see any signs about buying a ticket, the doors to the museum were open and accessible. He proceeded to tell me in a snarky tone that there were “3” signs that I should've saw and looked out for. Sir! If you need 3 signs to get your point across then that's your first problem! LOL Maybe do better at greeting your customers and directing them to buy a ticket. Just for future reference, when things like this happen you should educate your guests on how the process works. Not give them the cold shoulder because you as a business failed to inform your customers of your policies and procedures. NOT ONE PERSON greeted us when we came in. We would've been happy patrons and corrected our mistake and bought a ticket but ERICS reaction was a bit off so probably won't be recommending this place. Try to be less hostile Eric. I hope you have a better day.

Tonys Darts Away
1710 W Magnolia Blvd, Burbank, CA 91506, United States
Tonys is a phenomenal place to go for casual conversation, to watch the big game, to experience true micro-brew heaven, to play pool or darts with your peeps, and lastly, to experience true gastronomical bliss. The beer: Tonys has a full page of their menu devoted to Caliifornia brewed, craft beers. The selection is terrific, from no fewer than 15 IPAs, to stouts, Irish-style reds, and Belgian-style blonds. They have it all, and the flavors are great. That also have hard ciders and wines. The food: Oh, the Food! We are vegetarians, and I love to go out and have a beer with my dinner. Unfortunately, very few pubs have food that I can eat. Tonys is not one of them.We ordered the vegetarian bean chilli as an appetizer that we shared. It was really good! My wife makes a mean veg chilli, and this compared very favorably. She even admitted it. (Shhh!)My wife had the vegan bahn mi sandwich, which was made with vegan pork. Its also available with real pork, and it comes with homemade potato chips. The flavors were divine. The chips stand on their own, as they were thicker than traditional chips, and not greasy at all. I wish had their recipe! My wife told me that her bahn mi was the best sandwich she has EVER had. I tasted her sandwich, and it was indeed very fresh, and flavorful. But best ever is heavy, and her beer may have been doing some of her talking. (shhh!) Dont let this diminish your chances of trying the bahn mi, as it is fantastic.I had the Italian Stallion vegan sausage sandwich. You can get this with real meat Italian sausage, too. I added chips and a side salad for $2 extra. This was a really terrific sausage. It was very flavorful, spicy, and the texture was spot on for a sausage. I probably havent had sausage in a restaurant more than once or twice since I became vegetarian 6 years ago. And let me be frank (no pun intended), they were not good, like, at all. The flavor was bland, the texture was mealy and blah, and they had no spice. You get the picture. If youre within 62.6 miles of Tonys, you need to do yourself a favor and get your arse over there! Do it, and take your friends! Lets make sure that neighborhood places like Tonys that value their customers by giving them great food and drink and a great place to gather, stick around.
Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ
116 S San Fernando Blvd, Burbank, CA 91502, United States
I had an exceptional experience at a Korean BBQ restaurant tonight. As soon as I walked in, I was welcomed by the lovely hostess Christina, who kindly informed me of a short wait. The wait was brief, and we were promptly seated by three standout waitstaff members: Kasey, William, and Armen. Their exceptional service truly made our evening memorable. The marinated seafood and meats were cooked to perfection, offering a delicious variety that left us thoroughly satisfied throughout the meal. Whats more, the restaurant only charged a $10 corking fee, allowing us to enjoy premium sake and wine without overspending. The engaging waitstaff, including the waiters and waitresses, enhanced the overall enjoyment of our dining experience. The atmosphere was delightful, with upbeat music playing at a volume that allowed for comfortable conversation among our group. Our table had a fantastic time at this restaurant, and I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a try. Additionally, the restaurant offered an à la carte menu as well as the option to choose from their all-you-can-eat selections.
Niko Niko Sushi
1212 N San Fernando Blvd B, Burbank, CA 91504, United States
First time visiting this restaurant. We were in the mood for Bento boxes and did not want to drive to Sushi Gen in Pasadena. We ordered Bulgogi which is actually Korean and tempura. The Bulgogi was good as was the green salad that accompanied it. Unfortunately, some of the tempura was over fried and some pieces had black burn marks and tasted burned. One slice of over fried squash was extremely chewy as was an over cooked shrimp. The batter used was also not traditional tempura batter. Also, the rice was too dry and not moist. The waitresses were friendly and attentive and though the restaurant is small, it is clean and nicely decorated.
