Bonchon Fountain Valley

Absolutely loved my first visit to Bonchon Fountain Valley! My bf and I were craving Korean fried chicken and happened to find Bonchon on Yelp. Theyre not too far from where we live and happen to be right across from the mile square park we visit often so we were familiar with the area.We ended up stopping by on a Friday evening to have dinner, upon arriving a gentleman greeted us right away and let us choose where we preferred to sit in the restaurant. He came by with their menus and got our drink orders right away. He also told us that when we were ready to order they have a call button located at the tables so theyd know to come by our table. Its a nice convenience to have so you dont feel pressured.Customer service was great! The gentleman waiting on us was very friendly and attentive. Whenever we pressed the call button he would come over right away. He was always quick to get something if needed also. They have such a big selection on their menu, its hard to choose just a few items to try! I already knew coming here that it would take a few visits to try everything that looked good. But for our first visit we got the following: Pork Buns, Small Half & Half Boneless Wings and the Bulgogi House Fried Rice! honestly I enjoyed almost everything. The only thing I will mention is that the wings were a bit dry and needed more sauce on them. Pork buns were probably my favorite out of everything. The pork was so juicy and delicious. The fried rice was also a nice pairing with the chicken. It was packed with flavor too.Overall I think my next visit I might try the bone-in wings. Maybe the boneless just isnt what theyre known for. They also have a bunch of other items I look forward to getting in the future. I will definitely be back!

One of the better yakiniku restaurants in the area. Get there by the 5pm opening on a Wednesday and no wait for the seat. Later, the seats fill up and youll need to wait 1-2 hours. Everyone must be present to be seated. Dont bother calling - show up to put your name on the waiting list. The weekday special with beef and chicken for $47 is a good start to try. Later, you can wander into that other cuts like beef tongue and dishes with the yukke raw beef. Else, just stick with the marbled cuts of beef to bbq and eat with rice, then skip the rest of the menu and go right to dessert like kinako ice cream. (Like who eats a Korean bibimbap when going to a Japanese yakiniku restaurant?!)LA/OC smog rules handcuff them from using real charcoal, so the taste will never be as yummy as it is in Japan where they do use charcoal.$175 or so for 3 for dinner, no alcohol. Thats higher than the $125 or so a few years ago, so prices have been going up a lot. At this price range, Mortons for steak isnt a bad alternative, and youll get more beef to eat as well.
Sushi Plus
18856 Brookhurst St, Fountain Valley, CA 92708, United States
This is my home away from home, my Cheers where everybody knows my name. Its not big, its not fancy, its just good. Daniel (the owner) is awesome and the servers and kitchen crew are great. Their prices are reasonable and you get your moneys worth with each roll. Yes, it gets busy on Friday and Saturday evenings, but Ive never had to wait more than 10-15 mins on those nights. Theres ample parking since its in the same strip mall as a well-known and unique local specialty shop known as Prehistoric Pets, which is closed at night so theres always available parking by happy hour. Speaking of which, Sushi Plus happy hour sushi menu is great. Lots of different rolls, sashimi, beers, and sake to choose from. If youre looking for lunch, their chicken bowls and bento plates are filling at a good price. Ive even gone when I had a bad cold or sinus infection because theyre spicy ramen really opens things up in your head. Ive taken my parents here, friends visiting from out of town, and many co-workers. When its too hot at home to want to cook, Im here instead. And Ive spent more than one birthday filing up on my favorite rolls. Oh, theres also been a recent addition right next door, a cookie dough place. So if you want a little dessert after sushi and sake, you dont have to go far.
The Vox Kitchen
16161 Brookhurst St, Fountain Valley, CA 92708, United States
My family and I visited the Vox Kitchen recently and I was very impressed by their food and service. They are opening a space next door for business while remodeling the old space, which shows how popular they are. The new space has a bigger kitchen and a cozy dining area. The food was amazing, with fresh ingredients and creative flavors. I ordered the garlic noodles with grilled shrimp, which came with a green sauce on the side. The noodles were thick and chewy, the shrimp were juicy and tender, and the sauce was tangy and spicy. It was a perfect combination of textures and tastes. The portion was generous and I was full after finishing it.My family ordered the Saltado shaken fries house special, which was a Vox Kitchen signature dish of french fries, grilled ribeye steak, white rice, and sliced tomatoes. The fries were crispy and seasoned with herbs, the steak was tender and flavorful, the rice was fluffy and fragrant, and the tomatoes added some freshness. The dish also came with a green sauce that tasted like a chimichurri or a chermoula sauce, which added some zing and brightness to the dish. It was a hearty and satisfying meal that we all enjoyed. We also ordered the spicy shrimp wontons, which were Chinese-inspired dumplings filled with shrimp, water chestnuts, soy sauce, spring onions, and coriander. The wontons were plump and juicy, and the spicy Sichuan sauce was savory and fiery. The dish also came with some chopped peanuts and cilantro for some crunch and freshness. It was a mouthwatering appetizer that we all loved. We also ordered the bone-in short rib soup, which was Korean-inspired soup made with beef ribs, potatoes, enoki mushrooms, glass noodles, a slow poached egg, and green onions in a clear but flavorful broth. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, the potatoes were soft and creamy, the mushrooms were delicate and earthy, the noodles were slippery and smooth, and the egg was runny and rich. The broth was light but hearty, with a hint of sweetness from the ribs. It was a warm and comforting meal that we all enjoyed. The drinks were also good and some of them came with free refills. We tried the lychee lemonade, which was a refreshing blend of lemon juice, lychee juice, sugar, and water. It was sweet and sour, with a floral note from the lychees. It came in a tall glass with ice cubes and a slice of lemon as a garnish, which made it look very appealing. We also tried the mango dragonfruit iced tea, which was a tropical blend of black tea, mango puree, dragonfruit puree, sugar, and water. It was fruity and refreshing, with a vibrant color from the dragonfruit. It came in a tall glass with ice cubes and a sprig of mint as a garnish, which made it look very appealing. The service was friendly and attentive. The staff were helpful and courteous, and they checked on us frequently.I would definitely recommend the Vox Kitchen to anyone who loves Asian fusion cuisine. They have a variety of dishes to suit different preferences, from noodles and rice to salads and wings. The prices are reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. The atmosphere is casual and inviting. Its a great place to enjoy a meal with family or friends.
Pauls Coffee Shop

We were very disappointed in both entrees ordered. I had the pot roast /spinach omelette with hash browns. We both had the biscuits with gravy and my daughter ordered the chicken fried steak. My omelette was flat (not fluffy) and tasteless and the hash brown were limp, tired (not crispy) and also lacked flavor. The country/milk gravy was awful! The predominant taste was an odd, overpowering sweetness, making it almost inedible! This was particularly distasteful on my daughters country fried steak, on which you would expect, a savory gravy, traditionally with the taste of sausage or bacon. The woman at the cash register, overheard us perplexedly discussing the gravy, and she replied, We think its the milk. Her comment would seem to indicate others shared the same feelings as us.Since it was on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives were wondering if they are under new ownership?Needless to say, we wont be returning!
Blue Coral - Vietnamese Cuisine
17046 Magnolia St, Fountain Valley, CA 92708, United States
Went here on a Sunday for dinner, wasnt super busy so we were seated right away and got our order in shortly after. The restaurant has a laid back vibe, good music, and the staff were very helpful, offering suggestions and answering my questions.I went with a couple of my Vietnamese friends who recommended this place, and we drove up from Mission Viejo and the food was definitely worth it.We ordered the Soft-shell crab bao as an appetizer which was very good but was a bit different than I had expected. Its like a deconstructed version of the dish, but the soft shell crab was lightly fried and was delicious but my favorite part was the little bun that came with it. Much better than usual bao bun and I wish more places would do it this way.For main dishes my friend and I both ordered the Shaken steak and garlic noodles which was absolutely incredible, the steak was perfectly cooked and so tender and the noodles had a good amount of garlic and wasnt greasy or heavy. Would definitely order that again. It also came with a small serving of salad with a good avocado dressing that I really enjoyed, but my friend didnt so I ate that serving of salad too.My friends also got their stone bowl pho to share which was quite a visually impressive meal, it comes with the stone bowl which keeps the broth boiling lava hot and then has several plates with all the usual pho fixings for you to add to your liking. They both really enjoyed it and I enjoyed the visual aspect of it because it does look stunning similar to like when someone orders fajitas at a restaurant and it catches everyones attention when it comes out.Overall the food was really good, the service was great, and Im really looking forward to going here again to try their Cajun fish platter which sounded amazing.
Kappo Honda

Great authentic Japanese restaurant (not a Korean restaurant making Japanese food). Ask for the paper menu or go big and order omakase.
