CALVINS KOREAN CHICKEN

Haven’t been to the actual restaurant but ordered from here twice now and boy oh boy their strips recipe is sooooo good. Decent amount of food for what I payed. Highly recommend the Garlicky Soy and Savory Red strips. My go-to Korean Chicken spot in La Jolla hands down.
Nozomi Sushi La Jolla
4150 Regents Park Row UNIT 190, La Jolla, CA 92037, United States
One of the most disappointing ramen we ever had. We decided to try this place since it was so close to UCSD, but we probably wont return. We ordered a shiro sushi roll and 2 black garlic oil ramen. The sushi was mediocre and wasnt anything special. However, the ramen was worse than mediocre. The toppings looked fine, but when we actually ate them, we were dissatisfied. The bamboo was hard and stringy like they just poured some from a old container. We were surprised by how little taste the mushroom and bean sprouts had. It was weird chewing something with texture but no taste. The one piece of meat that was in the ramen is not like the typical chashu. It was actually grilled and edges were burnt. It didnt have the softness we enjoy from chashu. The broth was supposed to be black garlic oil, but didnt have the satisfying darkness and richness we had from other black garlic oil ramen. It actually left a oily bitter aftertaste. One of the ramen was actually much more bitter than the other even though we ordered the same thing. It was unpleasant to eat and we didnt finish. We asked the waiter about the bitterness of the ramen and they said they probably added too much garlic in one of them. We got half off for one ramen in the end. The only thing that was probably decent from the ramen were the eggs. However, the ramen from this place falls short of the quality of other ramen in the area. We definitely prefer those in the convoy or Mira Mesa area.

Awful customer service! Our chicken is way over done and basically petrified. You also need to specify that you want veggies if you want them even tho the are in the photograph of the dish you are ordering (false advertising) and you are nickel and dime for every ingredient added to your order. If you call to talk to the establishment about this you will be interrupted, yelled at and laughed at by Juan. Horrible customer service. $60 for dinner for 3 people? As a customer we should be treated better and with respect. We will no longer support this establishment. I would recommend that you do the same.

Its a restaurant I found with my friends when I was missing the taste of Korea so much. The chicken tasted like Korean chicken ? It was so delicious and the soft meat was not soft and moist!! Its good to cook And tteokbokki has a sweet and not thick soup... I really liked it ? The cheese ball was so good because it was a cheese ball like a sprinkle cheese ball. And everyone, be sure to eat truffles!I discovered this restaurant with my friends at a time when I was really missing the taste of Korea. The chicken tasted like Korean chicken? It was so delicious and the pork belly was not dry and moist!! Its good for fried chicken and rice. And the tteokbokki is sweet and not too greasy... It was so good ? I really liked the cheese ball because it was like a sprinkle cheese ball. And everyone, be sure to try the truffle french fries!

I was super excited to try this place. From watching different Kdramas or YouTube channels Korean corndogs is something Ive been wanting to try for a bit. I was disappointed in the food though. We had both the potato with sausage as well as the mozzarella corn hot dog. The potato with sausage just did not sit right - I felt the potatoes could have been a lot tastier, maybe fried a little more. The mozzarella was also not as stringy as I would have liked - maybe it also need some more frying. All in all though it was disappointing and we ended up not finishing both. Not bad but not that good either.

Shiku
1277 Prospect St, La Jolla, CA 92037, United States
I recently visited Shiku in La Jolla for dinner and had a delightful experience. We had a mix selection of sushi, which was fresh and flavorful, and the Korean bulgogi, which was surprisingly enjoyable by out younger crew. The food quality was pretty good, with reasonable prices. We had made a reservation for Fathers Day, and although we had to wait about 10-15 minutes for our table, it wasnt too bad considering it was a special day. The restaurant is not too big, creating an intimate atmosphere with friendly staff. Parking might require a bit of driving around, but it wasnt too much of a hassle. Overall, Shiku provided a great dining experience with delicious food and a welcoming environment.
The Promiscuous Fork

4.5 out of 5I really wanted to give this place a full 5 stars. Ill start with why I couldnt and end with why you should come here anyway.Cons:I ordered from here twice, and both times I got the pesto chicken sandwich (YUM) with different sides. The first time I ordered the garlic Parmesan fries and I got so many! I was very happy with the portion. The second time I got grilled veggies for an extra $3 and while they were delicious, I got three cauliflower heads and four large slices of squash. After seeing the fries portion AND paying an extra $3 for grilled veggies, I was disappointed in the portion size. See photos. Also, Im a ranch girl, and their homemade ranch is dying for more herbs.Pros:The food was great (except the ranch). I tried the brussel sprouts, chicken sandwich, Mac salad, Verde Cesar side salad, PB&J cheesecake, and the garlic Parmesan fries. I was very happy with the taste of all of the things I got!The service was great. They were fairly busy but both times I was there the food came out quickly and the people behind the counter were patient, friendly and helpful. During the dinner rush the server knew many peoples names and showed they had a lot of regulars.Inside its cozy and hard to feel out of place, even for someone like me just passing through. Its small inside but they have an outdoor seating area with pretty lights at night. I very much recommend this restaurant and am happy to give them my money!
Qin West Noodle
4353 La Jolla Village Dr, San Diego, CA 92122, United States
Qin West Noodle is located on the east side of the UTC Mall in La Jolla. Parking at UTC is free for the first two hours. There are two options to order: place your order at a kiosk or at the register if you are paying cash. By paying cash, you get a 3% discount. This restaurant doesn't want customers to pay tip or the 4% service charge that some restaurants are now imposing on patrons. Their menu stated: Self Service. No tips. Enjoy. Patrons have to find their own tables after placing the orders. Since there are no waitstaff, patron has to clean their own table, if needed. Inside the restaurant, each table has a tub of disposable disinfectant wipes, chopsticks and napkins for customers perusal. They have a free purified water station next to the cash register. We like the concept of 100% self-service and didn't mind cleaning our table and taking our trash to the designated area after our meal. This restaurant has open kitchen. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seatings with umbrellas. Also, there is outdoor mall seating just right outside the restaurant. We ordered the traditional beef noodle soup with round rice noodles and extra gai lan; spicy won ton noodle soup with ramen noodle, pan fried dumplings and cold thick cut beef tendons. Wait time for our food was about 20 minutes. The last item to come out was the pan fried dumplings which was brought to our table by the kitchen staff. The hot noodle soup bowls were hot and delicious, good portions with generous amounts of won tons and tender beef chunks. The noodles were cooked perfectly. The broth was clear, flavorful, not greasy and not salty. We loved the cold beef tendons, chewy texture and full of collagen and marinated in a delight sauce. Pan fried dumplings were crispy outside with a tasty filling inside. We couldn't finish the noodle bowls and ended up with some leftovers to take home. Overall, Qin West Noodle offers authentic casual Chinese comfort food, friendly kitchen staff and the food was very well priced given that is located at the UTC Mall. You can get desserts, made by others, here such as Koconut Coconut Pudding. We will definitely come back to try other dishes.
Haidilao Hotpot San Diego
4545 La Jolla Village Dr F9, San Diego, CA 92122, United States
One of the best dining experiences Ive had in San Diego and California as a whole. The food was excellent and the service was excellent. I was skeptical coming here because I feel like its a Jedi Mind Trick convincing people to pay to cook their own food at a restaurant but I was pleasantly surprised. Unlike say Korean or Mongolian barbecue where you have to construct a dish, here you only have to select what pre-made soup broths youd like to cook your proteins and ingredients in and then select those ingredients and the rest is SUPER easy and fun to do. Even someone who is cooking-challenged like me was able to produce delicious bites. Add to that the great service and this is somewhere we will definitely come back to. Glad we came
