San Korean Cafe
2165 Francisco Blvd E unit c, San Rafael, CA 94901, United States
We ordered a tofu soup and Bi Bim Bap. The soup seems to be leftover from the day before and very salty. The Bi Bim BAP does not taste as what you would get from a Korean restaurant, cold and not fresh either. I wouldn’t even want to give 1-star for the food.
Foodles
3140 Kerner Blvd G, San Rafael, CA 94901, United States
Friday Korean Short ribs BBQ Special was delicious and a great deal!Restaurants are pretty emptied out by 1:30 pm and specials often sold out before 1 pm.They even offered us a platter of homemade kimchi because one of our party is from Korea.Chicken teriyaki is very good too (super popular among regular patrons).I have tried Korean Stone-bowl Bibimbap on Tuesday (Special on Tuesdays only). Foodles is the only place in Marin doing authentic Korean food that I could think of.Only available for lunch special on weekdays. There is empty cups and water pitchers in the beverage refrigerator where you could serve your own water. It’s simply not a full service sit down restaurant even though once you order at the counter, one of the kitchen staff bring the food to your table. Some menu might be available for catering on weekdays (& weekends).Very busy for breakfast time with near by local patrons.

Golden Era 1

There are already a number of really good Vietnamese restaurants in San Rafael. How did we get so lucky?Golden Era 1 adds to this line up and offers something different. The menu is not as extensive or as typical as other American Vietnamese restaurants, but the food feels very home style in a great way! Everything Ive tried has been delicious.Im not Vietnamese, but it really feels like you are having an amazing home cooked meal. The dishes are so hearty and comforting. Everything tastes like it was made with TLC.Ive tried the Beef Rib Soup, Combo Beef Soup, a special spicy Beef Soup, Beef Shank Stew, Shrimp Fried Rice, Grilled Chicken, Pork Rib Barbecue, and Korean Beef Barbecue. Im pretty sure the last two arent traditionally Vietnamese, but the chef includes Vietnamese tasting herbs and sauces with them, and I really enjoyed the fusion. If you have the Pho, the broth tasted clean and not overly salty. Just the right amount of flavor so you can really pick up the flavors of the fresh herbs that accompany the dish.If I had a gun to my head Id pick the Beef Shank Stew as my favorite, but I still have not worked my way through the menu yet.The food speaks for itself. Do not look this one over.
The State Room
1132 4th St, San Rafael, CA 94901, United States
We decided to walk up and down 4th Street on a Friday evening and pick a random place for dinner, finally choosing The State Room because it seemed to have more energy than most of its neighboring restaurants. We were easily seated without a reservation at 5:30, but by 6:00 the place was filling up. Wouldnt be a bad idea to get a reservation. Its a very lively happy hour. Thats what I liked best about the State Room. Its got a great energy.Im not really sure what the ambiance is going for…sort of a warm sports bar industrial feel with old timey style pictures. It feels a little like an ai curated Pinterest board urban chic. I actually googled to see if this is a chain. I dont think it is, but it gives off those kind of vibesWe had very prompt and efficient service, except after we had finished eating and the table was cleared. I mean, the server checked in on us three times throughout the meal, but once we were ready to pack it up, he was nowhere to be seen. Im sure this was just an anomaly, but its a pet peeve of mine…having to sit for a long time at an empty table, then having to hunt down the server to get the bill. The food was fine. I had the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl. Others at my table had the Fried Chicken and the Creole Special. You can certainly order a variety of food, there is no special focus. We all agreed our dishes were perfectly adequate. My recommendation is to visit The State Room with friends and hang out at the lively bar. If youre looking for a memorable meal, you might try elsewhere. Again, not bad, just nothing special.
Flatiron
724 B St, San Rafael, CA 94901, United States
Terrible service by the female bartender. If the owner is reading this, its your bartender, working Friday on 7/30/2021! She went as far as to scream at me, asking me are you going to be OK?. I just wanted my oder, to go home to my baby daughter. This happened after I walked in, waited for about 30mins to just pick up my food order that I had phoned in 10mins before I arrived. The order included a bottled drink to go. She missed this and proceeded to ignore me again, so I waited another 15 to 20mins, I had to get the attention of the wait staff, he declined to do anything but to tell me to ask the bartender. So I went back to the bar asked her to read the receipt and she went ballistic, threw a fit, grab the to go container and mad she made a half as*ed, watered-down GoldenState, slammed the drink infront of me and walked off mad. I grab the half empty container (they charged me $24 for this! Yes just a half empty sugar container, I didnt know it was watered-down until I got home). I didnt want to deal with her any more so I placed it in the bag and went home.. By the time i got home, after an hour of nonsense, the food was cold and soggy. This $80 meal was ruined by the entitled Bartender! I do have recipes with order times and chip read time stamps (visa). I will upload later! And photos of the half empty drink. If the bartender is overwhelmed, maybe she should ask for help and NOT yell at paying customers and throw temper tantrums.

Four Points by Sheraton San Rafael Marin County

A bit dated but clean, and all the basics are there. Convenient location if you have a car, and plenty of free parking. Restaurant was unexpectedly amazing - delicious burgers, pasta and probably the best chicken sandwich Ive ever had. Korean chicken wings were really good, highly recommend if you are ok with a bit of a spicy flavor. All staff were very professional and friendly. We will be back!
The Habit Burger Grill
496 Las Gallinas Ave, San Rafael, CA 94903, United States
I came here about a month ago, and the food was crummy, just not great(note: some girls went up to the counter and said their orders were wrong while I was already eating my food with my boyfriend,) I decided to give it another chance and went there tonight again with my boyfriend, we order through the kiosk computer machines again and then sit down, a little less than 10 minutes later an employee comes over to us(we were at the booth seat around the corner from the kitchen) and asks if we ordered two char burgers, and we said yes and he said they were ready, and when we walked up I looked at our food, and the burgers were all wrong(I ordered an American cheese double char burger with ONLY Mayo, and my boyfriend got a char burger with American cheese, Portabella mushrooms, and everything else that regularly goes on a burger,) mine had mushrooms, and lettuce and tomato on it, and my boyfriend's burger was only missing lettuce and tomato. So we told them that the order was wrong it was supposed to be (insert above) and you know what the man said to me(and this is not coming from “a Karen”, this is coming from someone who's family owns their own small American restaurant and has two parents in the customer service industry and has worked in customer service and food service for years,) he said that I must've put it in the computer wrong, I'm a thorough person, I didn't put it in wrong, and even if I had he shouldn't have said that, what he should've said was “oh I'm sorry how would you have wanted it?” But instead he said he was going to have to talk to the manager, not an apology or anything either, we had to wait another 10 minutes and our food finally came out, except my boyfriend's burger was missing pickles, and the food still wasn't great, definitely NOT worth the $30!!!
