Meizhou Express
4518 Maine Ave, Baldwin Park, CA 91706, United States
Came here because we were craving some noodles and noticed that this was nearby. It was a really nice experience but there were things here and there were still some downs to my experience here. Looking at the photos on Google and Yelp, its seems that this place may be known for their duck, which is something I will definitely need to try next time.Lets start off with the location. Meizhou Express is located on Maine Avenue and sit in what I thought was a warehouse or industrial building. Little did I know it was the restaurant I was going to eat at. So finding it can be a little bit of trouble. Parking was plentiful and the lot is vast so I can never see a time where it can be hard to find parking.Walking inside we were greeted with the host/server. We were seated next to the window and immediately nestled in. We were given water right off the bat and paper menus. Our party ordered the Beef Noodle Soup, Meizhou Buns, and Soup Dumplings (their take on XLB). We received the Beef Noodle Soup first and this was one of the reasons I decided to knock off a star. The soup was extremely salty but the beef and noodles saved it because they were both great. There was only one bok choi in the soup which was kind of upsetting because I love a balance of protein and vegetables but it didnt break the meal. Next, the Soup Dumplings came and it was great. However, there wasnt soup at all in the dumplings but the meat and the skins of the dumplings were still tasty. Lastly. we had the Meizhou Buns, which were steamed buns with ground pork in it. It was really good and a great treat.Overall, my experience here was great, but the salty soup, the hard to find location and the kind of beat up interior, I would say this place is on the lower end of 4 stars. I have seen some reviews about service being terrible but I did not have the same experience. Service was great and I would definitely come back again to try their Minced Pork Noodles and Dan Dan Noodles.

Pho is something nostalgic for me and being from Seattle I had the opportunity to taste some of the best both in restaurants and in the homes of friends growing up. In my travels, a good bowl with a rich broth has been few and far between which is why finding Red Top felt especially serendipitous. My wife and I were in town for a wedding and when I saw the broth in the photos I knew it was worth a try. When we arrived we were pleasantly greeted by Minh. He briefly went over the menu and was transparent about the recent increases in price (by the way even with the increase it was still an amazing value!). My mind was even more at ease when I saw an “Auntie” walk to the kitchen to prepare the order. My wife and I got the house special along with an order of egg rolls. The egg rolls were crispy and the dipping sauce was homemade and reminded me of home. Great start! Not too long after we were greeted with steaming bowls of beefy goodness. The beef was thinly sliced and the broth held the color of what could only be flavor. I like to have my first bites as the chef intended (no condiments yet) and was not disappointed. The broth was flavorful and was genuinely the best bowl of Pho I’ve had aside from home in Seattle. I legitimately had a ‘Ratatouille’ moment- drifting off into a memory from my childhood of enjoying a bowl of Pho with my family next to a donut shop on a rainy Seattle day. The restaurant is clean and cozy with the humility of a family owned restaurant. It was so good that we also ordered vermicelli (a cold noodle dish) to go and it was tasty as well. Highly recommend for the noodle soup craving and the foodie looking for a great cultural home style eat. Thanks Minh and family, we’ll be back again soon!
Gardunos Taco King

Ordered uber eats delivery for them. Ordered the machacha plate with no onions or bell peppers and it still had onions in it and was cold. The meat in the machacha plate was very tasty though. Also ordered taquitos where they said it would come with 4 and it came with 3. The taquitos also didnt have much meat in them. Guacamole was a bit sour but I guess edible. Also ordered the vegetarian burrito thankfully with no salsa and that was practically ice cold when we got it. Which was weird since it was well wrapped. My boyfriend wasnt happy with the burrito even when warmed up. And the number one thing my boyfriend wanted me to put in this review is how horrible and burning hot the salsa was. Like actually wasnt spicy tasty it was literally too hot to handle hot. He literally had to use milk and sour cream multiple times and it was only a little dip with the tortilla chips. The vegetarian burrito was supposed to have this salsa on it and I asked for it on the side thank goodness they followed those instructions because we would have had to throw the whole thing away thats how bad it was. And yes he does like salsa just this was just too hot. Oh and before you say our food was cold because we were too far, we live like 5 min from the restaurant and the delivery person was waiting for the order to be done before he could come and didnt like get there after it was already ready if you get what I mean so I have no idea why everything was so cold.
Aloha Hawaiian BBQ & Sushi

Walked in and the restaurant was dirty, but I got my food immediately so fortunately I didnt have to spent too much time inside.I got home and I was excited to get stuck into the macaroni salad. When I took a bite however, I couldnt taste much of anything aside from bland macaroni. What the macaroni lacked in flavor it made up for in mayonnaise. The macaroni was swimming in mayo, needless to say I was disappointed. I tried the rice to cleanse my palate but what I got instead was a mouthful of uninspired dry rice. The chicken katsu wasnt particularly good either but at least there was a lot of it.In the end, the food I decided to eat made me full, but not the kind of good full where you feel like you renewed and refreshed. Rather, I felt the kind of full that makes you reevaluate the decisions you made in your life that got you to the point where you are now; hot, uncomfortable and writing a review of a cheap Hawaiian bbq spot in your kitchen.tl;dr: This is basically the Little Cesars of Hawaiian BBQ; It is hot and ready.
Walmart Supercenter

Management is terrible. I had an order pick up scheduled for 11am. We pull up and there is a problem with our order.Apparently a new worker had given away MY order to another customer. I work in retail too so I know this stuff happens. The lead who was in charge of giving us the bad news lets me know that he is so sorry and that I should come back in 2 hours and the order will be ready for us. To ask for Robert (manager). I agree and go home.Around 2pm I call the store only to be put on hold for 30 min with no answer. Its been 3 1/2 hours, surely it must be done by now so I drive to WalmartI park in the designated area and I call the store again but this time I have the pick up extension, I am on hold for 15 min and the woman on the other line finally gets a hold of my information and asks my parking spot and that they will be right out. Only to find that the pick up employee named Emily had absolutely NO IDEA about my situation and kept telling my she couldnt find my order with my Order Number.NO ONE HAD COMMUNICATED WITH HER ABOUT MY SITUATION.At this point, Im finally getting frustrated bc no one is talking to each other and more importantly no one is taking to me about my order.Emily finally called someone on her phone and asked for me.She comes to find out that my order had NOT been repicked. And that the manager Robert was the one responsible for repicking my items and they were going to pick them now.IM NOT GOING TO WAIT FOR THEM TO PICK IT, I MIGHT AS WELL WALK IN THERE AND DO IT MYSELF. I HAD GIVEN THEN 4 HOURS AT THIS POINT. THE POINT OF PICKUP IS TO SAVE TIME. AND ROBERT YOU HAVE WASTED IT. I WAS NOT ABOUT TO WAIT FOR MY ORDER TO BE READY AND I WAS NOT ABOUT TO COME BACK A 3RD TIME TODAY.Absolute waste of time. Poor management and poor communication.
Maine Express

The most important thing for those with allergies is that it is nut free. No peanuts in their Kung Pao chicken and she said no nuts in anything so no possibility for cross contamination. The almond cookies of course have an almond in them but they are individually packaged and not in the cooking area. They use soy oil. They don't use MSG.SERVICE: Ling was incredibly helpful answering my questions and figuring out what would work for me.VIBE: The place, while not beautifully decorated is extremely clean.FOOD: The food was really good. Of course taste is subjective - I grew up with proper Chinese food and this is proper.QUALITY: excellent and fresh no browning on the veggies.PORTIONS: Huge - one 2 item combo was enough for 2 people who eat healthy size portions. I could only eat half.BONUS: Bilingual - Spanish didn't seem to be an issue.PRICES: Average. $9-13 for combos, $6 for soup, $1 for an egg roll.Highly recommend not because it's the #1 Chinese food place but the overall experience qualifies as 5 star in my book.

Golden Panda Buffet

Came here for some Chinese take-out during lunch hours. There is a dine-in option where patrons can take advantage of a 9.99 Lunch Buffet and seating is outside. You are required to wear provided gloves and masks when grabbing what you want to eat inside of the restaurant but can obviously take it off when you start to eat.I opted to still get my take-out upon seeing this and went ahead and got a three-combo meal with Steamed Fish, Green Beans, and Pepper Chicken which were all fantastic. They also have a Seafood combo meal as well as a per pound option for take out as well. The only reason I docked this review down by a star was because of the misleading Take-out: 4.99 sign they have outside as well as the Steamed Fish being not as good as it was before for me. The experiencing was also a little confusing as well. I will definitely come back but with a phone order just to avoid the confusion with the employees.I have come here before pre-COVID and loved the food and experience. I am still glad they are open and serving customers as they are a local staple to the BP community. I cant wait to come back when COVID has died down a bit to make it safer to dine-in at restaurants.
Panda Express

This is a mixed review.Went to Baldwin Parks Panda Express Saturday night Oct 22nd about 9pm. I started to place my order. However, as I started to order the bowls. Some of the items I requested. Which was walnut shrimp, chow mein, and the ragoons. The associate said were out of that, were out of those too. So I said really you ran out? She said yes. So I order the fried rice in the bowls. As I got to the window to pay I saw some walnut shrimp an employee was placing in a box. I ask the young lady her name was Ashley wait you have walnut shrimp and she said yes it just came out. I said the lady that took my order said you were out. I then asked if they had chow mein and ragoons. She said yes, but theyre cooking them and will be ready in about 5 mins. I said why didnt the lady that took my order just say that they were cooking and itd be a little bit? I wouldve said yes Ill waited. Ashley apologized several times saying yes the other associate should of told you they cooking again my apologies. Ashley was very kind and remedied the problem. However, I feel the lady that took my order should of been the one to apologize. Anyways, like I said mixed review here. Im writing this review to praise and thank Ashley for going above and beyond to make sure the customer (me) left happy.
