Thai on Ventura
17544 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91316, United States
We found this restaurant just by chance and saw the Yelp reviews, which motivated us to try it.The restaurant itself is small and they made the best of the limited space. Nevertheless the atmosphere is cozy, nice soft jazz music is playing in the background and it's absolutely clean. The service is very friendly. The menu offers a big choice of different Thai food. I think everyone can find something to please their palate. We ordered chicken Satay as an appetizer. The chicken meat was deliciously flavored & juicy. The TOM KHA SEAFOOD SOUP(Coconut soup with mixed seafood, lemon grass broth, kaffir lime leaves, lime juice, coconut milk, mushrooms and fresh chili) was served in a flaming bowl to keep it hot. I ordered it medium spicy, which was quite hot enough for me. The taste of the broth was absolutely delicious, and it was loaded with succulent chunks of white fish, mussels and more shellfish. I loved it!My husband ordered PAD THAI (stir-fried rice noodles in special sauce with egg, bean sprouts, roasted peanuts, and green onions) with chicken. It was a huge portion, well flavored & delicious. The price, quantity and quality relationship is very fair for each dish!We will surely come back and try more of these delicious dishes.

Mulberry Street Pizzeria

As a native New Yorker in Los Angeles California, there are a few things Ive come to grips with, the transit isnt rapid so I need a car, Szechuan Chinese food is hard to find here, and supposedly, pizza can never taste good here because of the difference in water. Lol. I swear Ive heard it all, one guy said his Dad flys either the water or dough he uses (cant remember which) in his pizzerias from New York to L.A.A few years ago I was having one of my L.A. sucks, I wanna go home! tantrums. I mentioned to my cousin that if I could just simply get a slice of pizza, Id be okay. She suggested a pizza place across the street. I was ready to explain in my nasty NYC is better than Everything tone that this place could never accommodate my pallet when she said the name of the restaurant was Mulberry Street Pizza. IM FROM THE LOWER EAST SIDE OF MANHATTAN! MULBERRY ST. IS PART OF MY HERITAGE!!! I havent paid for pizza from another place since ❤️Recently I found out that there are multiple locations and this week I visited this location on Ventura blvd. Fransisco was my pizzaiolo (or maybe simply a great host). We had an awesome conversation while I waited for my order to be ready. I told him my Snotty NYer Mulberry Pizza Story, he gave me the concise history on how the Pizzerias came about and the growth of the business. Fransisco was able to have great conversation with me while greeting customers, packing orders, and taking new ones. No one seemed to feel neglected. The vibe was laid back with a smell that reminded me of home. When youre in L.A. from NYC and youre feeling homesick, or if you just want to know what a REAL slice of pizza tastes like without the plane flight, Mulberry Street Pizza is the only place Ive found that hits me like the real thing. The price of a plain slice seems high to me and if pepperoni or any other topping is what you need, be prepared to pay a pretty penny, but in times of need or times of financial stability, an extra buck is nothing compared to a trip to the doctor for depression or a red eye to JFK.Mulberry Street Pizza is family friendly and as I left I asked permission to snap a shot of a picture perfect father and daughter enjoying a couple of slices in the shade on a hot day utilizing the cute and quaint outdoor seating. Pizza makes people happy! Mulberry Street Pizza takes happy to the next level ???A+++++++++ from me, Warner Bailey
Makoto Sushi
17920 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91316, United States
Food is decent but it was clear they werent ready for the allowed increased capacity. Only saw 2 servers and 2 sushi chefs but they were seating every table. Today I ordered simple dishes for take out, salmon sushi, ikura and spicy tuna. When I called I was told 20-25 min. I came after 20min and was told another 15min. 10min sitting there waiting and they still havent started my order as I overheard the waitress asking the chefs. Then waited 14min more. People kept coming in and werent being seated. Tables werent being cleared. No sign in sheet. A customer had to ask to sign his name and the waitress just pulled out a menu for him to sign on the back. All in all I placed my order at 6:56pm and didnt get it until 7:40. I still tipped over 20%... oh and they didnt even pack me any soy sauce on top of allDont seat customers at full capacity when you dont have the staff to cover them all. Theres a reason restaurants close off sections when they dont have the staff for it. The wait staff gets overworked and customers get subpar service.
Uncle Bernies Delicatessen
17615 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91316, United States
I have experienced bad service before, but nothing even remotely approaching the disrespectful and reprehensible conduct engaged in by the staff at Uncle Bernie's Deli.My sandwich was delivered without the accompaniments identified on the menu. Certainly not a big deal. I casually attempted to flag a waiter or waitress. Over the course of a few minutes, two different waiters and the hostess walked right by my table – I openly waived at all three and, despite looking directly at me as I waived at them, all three looked away and walked right by me. Again, not a huge infraction. Nevertheless, I had no choice but to leave my table and seek out someone to assist me. I walked to the other side of the restaurant and discovered several waitresses sitting together and talking. I asked for assistance, one of them agreed, and I returned to my table.A few minutes later, I again required assistance from a server. Again, I casually attempted to flag someone to help me. Again, I waived at two different servers. Again, no one responded to my efforts. Again, I was required to leave my table to seek out assistance. By now, I knew exactly where the servers congregate to chit chat. As before, I found several servers sitting together (of note, not the same servers as before). The following conversation ensued with one of the seated waitresses:Me: I would like to speak with the manager. Her: Ok.Me: Can you direct me to the manager? Her: I don't know where he is.Me: Can you find him for me?Her: No.Me: You will not find the manager for me?Her: I don't know where he is.Me: Is he inside the restaurant? Her: Yes.Me: Please direct me to him. Her: I dont know where he is.We went back and forth a few more times before this spectacularly hostile and disrespectful waitress finally got out of her seat and looked for the manager. As she walked away, she exclaimed: “You are going to be waiting a long time.” Fortunately, and contrary to the waitress' forecast, the manager was a mere fifteen feet away and not hard to find.I explained the preceding service lapses to the manager, including my exchange with the disrespectful waitress. He listened attentively, but did not utter a word. He said exactly nothing. He made no attempt to address or respond to my complaints. I might as well have been speaking to a light post.Thereafter, I returned to my table and finished my meal, intent to never return. In a silly high school display, several staff members huddled nearby my table, pointing at my wife and I, and openly speaking about us. Par for the course at this point. I declined to comment. As my wife and I were exiting the restaurant, the particularly rude waitress was standing at the hostess station. As we walked out, the waitress shouted “enjoy your leftovers.” We did not take any leftovers with us and, therefore, her transparent attempt to disrespect us failed miserably. Then, an employee exited the restaurant, walked to the back of our car, and photographed our car and license plate. I was astounded. As I asked the employee why he was photographing my car and license plate, the rude waitress walked outside, stood at the door, and displayed her middle finger to my wife and I. This new level of hostility far transcended bad service.During the ensuing exchange, the manager walked outside. I told the manager about his employee photographing my car and, much to my shock, the manager acknowledged that he authorized the employee to take the photograph. You read that correctly. The manager authorized one of his employees to photograph my car and license plate. As you can imagine, the conversation went rapidly downhill from there. The manager refused to accept responsibility for either his wrongful actions or the wrongful actions of his staff. The whole experience was utterly astonishing. If spectacularly rude and offensive food servers are your thing, Uncle Bernie's Deli is right up your alley. Otherwise, caveat emptor.
Calif Chicken Cafe
15601 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91436, United States
First thing first. Three words that sum up California Chicken Cafe for me would be Fresh Ingredients always. This is most definitely a go to lunch choice of mine. I try to partake in a California Chicken Cafe salad at least one to two times a week. Very large portioned salads are to be had here. There is basically five salad choices that you can add to or subtract ingredients to suit your taste. Additional vegetables, proteins, pasta, and many other ingredients can be added to your salad for very low additional charges. I usually tack on about three dollars worth of yummies to my salad. My favorite go to salad would be the California Chicken Salad. Another plus is that the dressings are always served on the side, so the salad travels well. Meaning you can eat it later after driving it back to work, home, etc. California Chicken Cafe also prepares about eight or so wraps with white or wheat pita bread. They also specialize in rotisserie chicken and offer about a dozen sides to accompany a chicken order. You must try one of the five homemade juices featured at the California Chicken Cafe. My favorite is the lemonade. Downloading their App makes ordering easier by keeping your favorite orders stored. They really shuffle you through quickly with their curbside food delivery service. Give it a try you wont be disappointed.
Kopan Sushi & Ramen
17547 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91316, United States
Upon arriving we found free parking in a lot right next to the entrance of the restaurant. The place was packed but the wait was less than 5 minutes. Service staff was pleasant and the menu was very visual with a nicely sized selection of items to order including: ramen, sushi, sashimi, and done other items. The ramen broth was fantastic, both the more savory black garlic and the more spice red miso and there was no skimping on the noodles or ingredients. One complaint is that the soft boiled eggs arent marinated before bring added like you traditionally see. The atmosphere was nice for bring a small restaurant and the music was enjoyable bring mostly Japanese hip hop inspired instrumental (think samurai champloo) which is a greatly appreciated when you consider most sushi and ramen places play pop music which I cant stand.Prices are very fair and the quality is definitely a strong point for this ramen shop.
Everfresh Marketplace - Glatt Kosher
17977 Ventura Blvd, Encino, CA 91316, United States
I showed up around 6p. One of the employees (middle aged lady with brown hair, probably 5'7) followed me around the store from the time I entered. I was browsing the store, going to pick up a few things. The first encounter was when she acted like I was blocking the boxes she was “stocking”. Then 2 minutes in I'd noticed she was following/watching me. After 3 aisles I finally decided to test my suspicions. I went down a new isle, immediately stopped, turned around and waited to catch her following me. Sure enough, she walked right into me standing there waiting for her. She was clearly caught off guard and made some pathetic attempt to speak to another employee in the aisle who actually WAS stocking AND minding his business. I was so offended I left. She treated me like I was going to steal IMMEDIATELY. I will NEVER come back, I'm going to tell people about this place. I had every intention of getting my groceries and going about my evening. By the way, I'm a black woman.
Panera Bread

Some food and two very scared children pretty much sums up my experience here today. When we ordered from a very friendly and very sweet cashier, we asked if our kids meals include drinks, which we were assured they do.All of a sudden, a manager, Natalie Drummer (sp?) came out to ringing us up and everything went downhill from there. When we questioned why our bill was so high, it turned out that my kids drinks were not included after all.The cashier even confirmed to the manager that she told us of the drinks are free, it wasn't a big deal except for the huge amount of attitude we got from the manager because we were magically supposed to know their own policies better than they do.She went on a rant explaining how the drinks were clearly a different line order on her computer, except she had no idea how to explain to us how we're supposed to see the computer from the other side of the counter. She rolled her eyes so much and was so rude that I actually had to stop and ask her to keep her frustration to a minimum and stop being rude in front of my children. At no point did she apologize or improve her demeanor towards us, she huffed and puffed and ran off before saying thank you or sorry or giving us a receipt. My poor children were so freaked out they were afraid to drink their drinks during lunch. The manager then proceeded to keep coming around and cleaning the tables around us, making us extremely uncomfortable and just ready to get out of there.Definitely not a place I would ever come back to you, but I do urge the owners to have some better management training for their employees, especially when small children are present.
Poke Bar
16060 Ventura Blvd # 111, Encino, CA 91436, United States
Delicious food, with fresh fish. decent atmosphere, its rather small inside, Im really unhappy that the woman serving me used the same glove to mix my bowl that she used with the persons bowl before me, he had extra jalapeños in his bowl and my bowl ended up tasting like jalapeños and being very spicy. I didnt like that at all, mainly because I have Gerd and cant stomach spicy food, it wasnt a good night for me after that, hopefully, that kind of thing doesnt happen often.
