Charley Noodle & Grill
244 State St, Los Altos, CA 94022, United States
There are very few times that Yelp has led me down a wrong path and this is one of them. Im not sure how this place receives an average 4 star rating. We ordered the ramen with spicy tonkatsu broth. You have to add each topping separately. Most ramen incorporates the spices to the soup base to make it spicy. When I received it, there was a layer of hot oil floating on top. The noodles tasted like the ramen noodles from a package. It has that same waxy exterior that is very distinctive. The signs of a good ramen is the noodle and the soup. Both failed. The egg was over cooked and the yolk had a grayish ring. The one redeeming thing is the minced pork. It was flavorful, but again on the dry side.My husband ordered the General Tsos chicken. The batter was light and crispy, but the chicken was super dry. The sauce was sweet without the spicy and tangy.

I hesitate on this one - giving a place 5 stars, wondering if it is truly that wonderful or is it the fact that I am 450 miles away and miss it. Will my review impact the lines the next time I go (probably not because there are already some great reviews about this place).I remember the first time I went - the little hole in the wall and fell in love with some of the different sausages they created - chicken, cheese and broccoli being one of my favorites. I was very excited to see they had reopened and upon my first trip back to the Bay area from Southern California - I stocked up on about $100 worth of food. It was amazing how quickly the family and I went through it. Each time I get up there (along with my trusty large cooler) it seems like as soon as I bring it in the house - poof - gone.First off - this is a real butcher shop, like the ones I grew up with which brings back all sorts of cool memories. Second - this location handles a lot more people waiting inside for ordering than before - and yes it gets packed.I have enjoyed every last morsel of the Chicken, Cheese and Broccoli, as well as Brats, Sheboygan Brats, Cajun, Creole Andouille and the Louisiana Hot.They also have quite a selection of German candies and other products which my wife was able to send off to her brother who had spent a couple of years in Germany on his Mission. Is it expensive - yesIs it worth it - Oh YES indeed!!!!In other reviews I would take off points for expense, crowding, etc. but here - you are just willing to put up with that because it really is that good. High quality product here. I know that there are places like this closer to me but so far I have not found any that are close enough in quality to make me forget Dittmers. I hope to get back there soon!

Los Altos Grill
233 3rd St, Los Altos, CA 94022, United States
THIS REVIEW IS STRICTLY ON MY BAR DINING EXPERIENCE.Tis 5pm on a Sunday evening -- and we walk into the restaurant, greeted by Max (whose name we learned of later) who acknowledged our reservation. We expressed our desire to dine at the bar, alas there was a wait. Max aptly suggested that there was a party sitting at the bar waiting for a table, and perhaps we could do a swap -- we gladly obliged. Within 5 minutes, we were seated at the bar.The sideway experience began from here. We were not properly served until about 12 minutes into being seated -- relatively long by my standard. When we were acknowledged, we were asked what we wanted to drink -- but we were not presented our menu.We ordered a bottle of Schramsburg and we also asked a bottle of red wine that we brought to be opened to breathe. The bartender let me taste and poured the first glass.About 10 minutes into our experience, we hailed the bartender to order grilled artichokes and shrimp cocktail both of which came out within 10 minutes -- good. Our champagne glasses and water glasses were never filled, and the bartender did not bother to check how our dishes were.About 30 minutes into our experience of enjoying the appetizers, we again made the effort to hail the bartender, and ordered the filet and a side of kale salad. The bartender did not bother to ask how wed like the steak cooked, but we also forgot to let him know how wed like to cook, so...let that slide. And I proactively asked the bartender to pour the red wine that we brought, which the bartender obliged. The steak and the kale salad came out -- and the steak was too salty for us to consume -- it was not as if the meat was overly seasoned, but it was at the level that the steak was fully coated in a layer of salt.We again had to hail the bartender to let him know of the issue, who addressed and obliged to rectify the issue. The manager came by to also let us know to rest assured that our steak is being worked on.The steak came out and it tasted pretty good -- definitely rectified. The bartender never came around once to check on our food, fill any of the empty wine glasses, or make an effort to interact with us. And at this point, I was pretty disappointed with the lack of professionalism by the bartending staff and the initial taste of the steak dish. The bartender informed us that there were two desserts available which we declined since we had plans afterwards, and asked for the check. The check came -- no thank you, no I am sorry for the mishap on the dish -- the bartender just went on about his job, which I guess is noble, but I was not happy that we received the appropriate level of service. As we walked out, we talked to who I initially thought was the host, Max, who introduced himself as one of the managers, and I let him know of my dissatisfaction with the bartending staff. I promised that Id write on the specific elements of dissatisfaction during our dining experience and here I am.Having a good dining experience is relative, subjective, and nebulous. But what I experienced at Los Altos Grill was ignorance and lack of care by the bartending staff. The bartending staff may not have intended it, but I am sorry to say that the experience we had was nothing more than subpar. I have cemented my conclusion that I will not be returning to the restaurant, at least to dinner at the bar -- and an experience like this does not erase a sour taste in my mouth easily.

Im happy to write a five-star review for Pho Banh Mi Restaurant! This place is an absolute gem and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious Vietnamese food.First of all, the ambiance of the restaurant is warm and inviting. The decor maintains a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. Its the perfect spot for a casual lunch espBut the real star of the show is the food. The pho is absolutely delicious - the broth is rich and flavorful, and the noodles are cooked to perfection. The special vermicelli with chicken are also a must-try, with a perfect balance of savory meats, tangy pickled veggies, and fresh herbs. But what really sets Pho Banh Mi Restaurant apart is the exceptional service. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, and they go out of their way to make sure you have a great dining experience.Overall, I cant recommend Pho Banh Mi Restaurant enough. Tre Monti

I went here because the reviews were good. At first I sat outside, but it was freezing cold, so then I opted to go back inside. It was still cold inside. For some reason they leave the door open, so its pretty cold inside. I would definitely recommend to bring a jacket. I was expecting just an average Italian restaurant maybe a little better, but I found a diamond in the rough. When I got there a man who looks like an owner was at my service from the time I arrived till the time I left. Within two minutes my drinks were on the table and I had warm tasty bread with some kind of olive oil mixed with some sort of vegetable I guess. I didnt really understand what he was saying was in the olive oil because his Italian accent was so thick and authentic. I enjoyed that he spoke some Italian to me here and there, because it made the effect of the Italian restaurant come alive. I asked him what was the best thing on the menu. Im from out of town and I dont really know what to order when I go to restaurants. He suggested some sort of pasta with pork shoulder. I agreed, thinking that it might be pretty good. I was wrong. It was probably one of the best Italian dishes Ive ever had. Im 52 years old and have traveled the world. And I can still say quite honestly that it was one of the best meals Ive had. Im only in town for a week and I plan to eat there at least three more times before I go. Im going to have the same meal that I ate. So overall the food was amazing and the service was excellent. The food and the service made me feel happy.

Sumika

A Hidden Gem. As we walk into a narrow but beautiful small room, I am greeted with the unmistakable smell of the hibachi charcoal burning... cooking...searing meat....Definitely Authentic...Most Definitely Japanese. We were seated at a small table with a view of the chefs .What a treat to be able to see the chefs hard at work over the food... We ordered the Wagyu and a few different yakitori suggestions made kindly by our server. Our meal was not rushed and came out beautifully timed with every tasty treat plated simply and cleanly. The beginning of our meal started with a deep fried Geso Karage. Crunchy chewy yummy . We topped it with the spice from the small jar on the table. After that came our Yakitori. We were instantly transported back to Japan...the taste, smell, and sounds surrounding us. Many tables of Japanese speaking customers made us feel as if we were back in an Izakaya again. Our favorite by far was the Wagyu Beef and the suggested chicken w onion . Also, the gizzard & heart were on special, a personal favorite, we humbly suggest you try these. Do not miss out or be intimidated. So Many items we would like to try. We happened to lucked out on a walk-in reservation as we were in the area. You have to call to make a reservation. The website link they prompt you to online doesnt work, unfortunately, but the service and food here are impeccable. A small but amazing menu of Yakitori, Handrolls, and other delights await. Delicious worth every penny & We will definitely be back.

Village Court Shopping Center

Everything is conveniently located in the shopping center. Perfect choice for both who live here and the driving by.So many food options, grocery stores, beauty salons, gyms, and other services are gathered here. A great one-stop shopping center for all you need. Also, there are lots of parking spots and you never have troubles finding a parking spot at anytime. At worst you can find a parking 2-3 minutes to any place you have a stop in the plaza.

Green Bakery & Cafe
692 Fremont Ave, Los Altos, CA 94024, United States
I was pleasantly surprised by the food here. They just reopened recently after the pandemic and remodeled! Its truly like stepping into a AirBnB here. I liked the peaceful ambience and family-oriented vibe. I could see myself doing some computer work in here.I was impressed by their menu and bakery items. They have an extensive menu with all the expected cafe items. This Vietnamese inspired cafe surely has it all and everything tasted very fresh and tasty.Ordered:-Avocado smash (avocado toast): very generous with avocado and the bread was nice and soft-Vietnamese hot coffee-Vietnamese chicken salad-Ghiradelli chocolate muffinThe avocado smash was my favorite item. The meal felt healthy and they gave generous portions. I was highly satisfied with the meal and did not feel that full afterwards.

The Pasta Market
4546 El Camino Real, Los Altos, CA 94022, United States
I am a PREVIOUS returning customer: I stopped coming because (1) simple requests basically never were considered (light cheese on pizzas) and (2) I got frustrated with the rather rude attitude of some of the front desk employees. The food tastes fresh. The prices are about average for the area. For a meal including pizza ?, salad ?, and a soda ?, I pay between $30 and $40.The pizza dough is pretty thick and I had trouble finishing a medium sized pizza. On the pictures you can see a medium sized pizza and a small sized pizza. Normally, I do not have problems finishing a tasty pizza.Important: You order at a counter and then get the food brought to your table. Soda is available from a fountain and you drink out of a paper cup. This setting is fine for informal meals but maybe not appropriate for a business lunch/dinner or a first date.My negative points are: (1) For an Italian restaurant, I would like to see more pizza choices. (2) Also, I had the same salad (Greek) on several different occasions and the size differed significantly, see pictures. (3) The friendliness of the staff varies a lot and is more on the European side (= not so good). (4) On several occasions, the cutlery was not clean enough and I or my friends had to ask for clean cutlery. (5) For some reason, it never works out when I order light cheese on a pizza, I tried several times to explain that I want less cheese.
