Pasadena Noodle & Grill
2335 E Colorado Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91107, United States
Wow! This is a great place to visit if you are craving Vietnamese food! We stumbled upon this while visiting here and it did not disappoint! The portion size are large and reasonably priced! The service here is nice. They ask you what you want, bring the food, and leave you alone (which I appreciate). If youre looking for a overly friendly service, this is not it.Here are our orders:-Durian smoothie: if you love durian and want something refreshing, this is for you! The smoothie size is large and was not an icy smoothie. It was thick and smooth.-Bun Bo Hue: the soup was flavorful and they gave a lot of meat. The noodles are the thick vermicelli noodles. You will be full. If you are not use to large portion size, be prepare of either share with your loved ones or take it home.-Charboiled pork, egg roll, and rice: the pork was full of flavor. They give you sweet fish sauce and you dont even really have to use it because the pork was that good. The cabbage and carrots were pickled. The cucumbers was great to refresh your taste buds.Overall, this place exceeded my expectations. Thank you!
HiroNori Craft Ramen
163 S Lake Ave, Pasadena, CA 91101, United States
I really enjoyed my dinner at HiroNori tonight (Monday). HiroNori is very popular in Irvine and we were excited when we heard that a location opened up in Pasadena. They opened shop around 2 weeks ago and are already very popular. We came at around 7:45 and the restaurant was almost at max capacity. Luckily, there were a few tables open and we were seated quickly! We ordered 2 tonkotsus, 1 shoyu, and 3 pork buns. Here we go:Shoyu - 5 stars: The shoyu broth is well crafted. Its 95% chicken broth and 5% pork so its definitely lighter than a tonkotsu but still very satisfying. Theres a hint of sweetness in the broth that I enjoyed! HiroNoris shoyu is definitely one of the best that Ive tasted in the area.Tonkotsu - 3.5 stars: I agree with some other reviewers that its not as rich or fatty as it could be. Even though the flavor is there, I think that if I was craving a tonkotsu ramen, it wouldnt really satisfy my craving. However, my sister and mom really enjoyed their bowls. I think your opinion of the tonkotsu will solely depend on how you rich you like your tonkotsu broth.Pork buns - 4.5: We all agreed that these pork buns are really good! Even my mom liked them.. and she usually doesnt express appreciation for food like that hah. A lot of times, youll have a pork bun that is too dry, but the pork here was very soft. Flavor was great as well.As you probably already know, HiroNori makes their own ramen noodles. Theyre kind of squiggly and thick, and cooked perfectly for a really nice mouthfeel. Factor in the friendly waitstaff and you get a 5 star ramen spot!

Howlin Rays Hot Chicken - Pasadena
800 S Arroyo Pkwy, Pasadena, CA 91105, United States
Howlin Rays is finally here! Pasadena residents rejoice, for the long awaited arrival of the famous Nashville Hot Chicken restaurant has come to pass.According to their website the restaurant is open from 11am to 7pm Wednesday thru Sunday. Based on the information posted in the window at the location it appears that all ordering is done online in advance through Postmates.Update:Our friend met us at the restaurant and her postmates wasnt working. She was able to order in person. We will be treating ourselves to some hot chicken in the next couple of days and I will update this review after that. I just wanted to jump in and get the word out to my foodie friends about the opening of Howlin Rays at 296 Allen Ave in Pasadena.Update:WARNING!!! First time customers need to know that if you order anything above mild you are actually doing a spice challenge. According to the chef owner there is ghost pepper in the Medium spice level. Even more ghost pepper in Medium Plus. That is around a million on the Scoville Scale! For comparison a jalapeño is around five thousandWe ordered The Sando at Medium and the tenders at Medium Plus. We did not know at the time about the presence of Ghost Pepper. The first bite of The Sando was shocking! Feel the burn it says on the menu next to Medium. FALSE ADVERTISING!!! That sandwich was the hottest thing that I have ever eaten. I was sweating.Needless to say, I didnt have a single bite of the tenders. My wife likes hot spice level in real life so she tackled the tenders. She was sweating and struggling to finish. She said it was around as hot as the Korean spicy noodles that were a popular trending food challenge a few years ago.Im a medium spice guy in real life. In the real world I enjoy Mexican, Indian, etc. at medium spice. This chef is playing a huge practical joke on the uninitiated. He seems to live in a world all his own where Medium is hot enough to melt your face off. He literally said in an interview, Try Howlin Plus if you want to ruin your day.Thats enough about the heat. How were the components? Amazing! So so so good! The chicken breast was enormous. It was almost twice the size of the bun as you can see in my photos. The breading was very crispy and coated in deliciously flavorful spice powder. Yes, the flavor was good, it was the heat that got me. The bun, slaw, and pickles were top shelf. You can easily appreciate that this sandwich was created by an accomplished chef. Its well worth the price. It only took 15-20 minutes from the time we placed our order until we had it in hand a little after 6pm on a Wednesday. Not sure how long this short wait time will last since the original location is known for long lines. We will definitely be going back to try the Mild as soon as the trauma from the heat of the first try wears off.So, do yourself a favor and give this extra spicy place a try soon.
Twinkle Tea
498 S Lake Ave, Pasadena, CA 91101, United States
Twinkle Tea is a corner boba tea shop that offers milk tea boba, smoothies, lemonade and snacks. They are located on S. Lake ave and Granite Drive in Pasadena.I ordered a Mango Lemonade and Noodle Hand and Egg. It was flavorful and very refreshing and the noodle soup was simply good. :DI requested regular ice and 75% sweetness. Moreover, they only offer one size (32 oz) for all of their drinks. What I like about this boba tea shop is you can customize or make your own boba. Staff was very nice and competent. If youre a regular customer they do offer reward points so its a win, win. Prices were reasonable and competitive. Happy hour and free WiFi is available. Parking is available. Overall, I really enjoyed my drink and will definitely come back. I highly recommend this place.

I am a person who is very sensitive to MSG/salt, so my requirements and taste in food are also very strict. The owner of this restaurant is a very generous person. He gave me many side dishes to taste and asked my opinion. I have been there a few times since the soft opening, and I will review the food?.The soup is drinkable and is made from bone marrow/meat that has been simmered for a long time. And when I finished the soup, I didnt feel any discomfort. I felt very full. It didnt contain MSG but kept the deliciousness of the soup. I liked it.The beef tendon meat in beef noodles is much better than the meat used outside, and it is much larger. Anyway, I have never eaten in a beef noodle restaurant in Los Angeles that serves such a large amount of beef. To highlight the point, the meat bone soup is boiled for more than a dozen times. Hours later, no MSG is added, the beef is chunky and delicious, and this is the only beef noodle shop that stacks them together!”The picture is of noodles with fried bean paste. There is no p-picture at all. It has a slightly sweet taste from Taiwan. If you like to try new things like me, be careful not to eat the fried bean paste noodles that are more salty in northern China. Friends with a small appetite can order this fried noodles for two people, and then try the braised noodles and other other dishes. There is nothing wrong with the food, but I would rather they1. It can make rice noodles. The same soup with rice noodles, or a sour soup with rice noodles will be good news for those who don't eat wheat bran!2. There are different flavors of rice or fried rice. Since the chef and the owner can create the unique Taiwanese high-end beef noodles in Los Angeles, I believe they can also make fried rice or pilaf that is still delicious without adding MSG!I am a person who is very sensitive to MSG/salt, so I am also very picky on food requirements and taste. I have been there a few times since it just opened for trial operation, let me comment on the food?,I can taste that The soup are boiled for a long time with bone marrow/meat. Kabuki

Oh boy, where should I begin.Well, Ive been here for lunch, happy hour and dinner, you could say that I live here and is always a great experience. If you never been at a sushi bar before, this is the place to get you started, always ask to sit at the bar, youll have a personal chef for your meal, hell take care of your sushi and call the server over for whatever you need, you dont have to worry about looking for the server at all.Happy hour is pretty good, Im big on Sapporo and they got a pretty good deal, that Fire Cracker tho, make sure to ask for it.If you got a large party get the Ososume sushi table, is like a giant sampler of premium rolls.Like I mentioned before, the sushi bar is where is at, Chef Aldo will always take great care of you, theres also Chef Snickles (his real name, I swear) hes usually there for lunch and his top priority is customer satisfaction, both of those chefs are hilarious during lunch. The other chefs are also a good choice specially Chef Bryan. They have a new guy Chef Ben, great guy, if you or your family feel better speaking Chinese over English make sure to go to chef Ben.For all the regulars out there, you already know Chef Garcia and Chef Daniel are a good choice as well.
Roma Market
918 N Lake Ave, Pasadena, CA 91104, United States
As a grown-up, it's so much fun going to Roma Market. After spending time in Italy and cooking there, I really appreciate their selection. They have a lot of pasta varieties. It's a tiny spot, but they have a lot of goods from Italy. You can even get a Bialetti moka pot. It may look a little intimidating, but once you figure it out, watch your friend do it or watch a video online, you'll be hugged and want to have that every morning instead. Each Tasini, little cup, is equivalent to about 2 cups of coffee. I like the Illy brand coffee. This was from Italy. I find that the ones that are packaged in Italy taste much better. The ones that they sell in the US, you can find them at the grocery stores or at specialty cooking stores and you can taste fertilizer. I've done a few taste tests and was able to get a friend to bring some back again. It's definitely much better when it comes from there. It's not inexpensive. They cut their meat, fresh and cheese, too. I even got some other frozen sauces and bottled waters. I've gotten fresh bags of walnuts and pistachio nuts from them. It's always fun to see what they have in stock. As busy as they are, they surprisingly answer the phone every single time and answer questions. The ladies have been there forever and they are super nice.If you are in a hurry, do not go during the lunch rush as they have their ever so popular Italian sandwiches. They have it on fresh baked bread and their meats and cheeses are freshly sliced. They wrap them in pink butcher paper and the line goes out the door. A little Nonno stands by the door to regulate traffic coming in. You cannot customize the sandwich. It's so yummy. But either go a little before lunch or after and maybe the lines will be better. Parking is kind of tight but we always find a spot.
UOVO Pasadena
146 S Lake Ave #103, Pasadena, CA 91101, United States
I ONLY write GOOD reviews… I don't waste my time, otherwise!I had been wanting to try this restaurant -I mean - who doesn't want fresh Italian pasta FLOWN IN DAILY from Italia? Let alone IN MY CITY (Pasadena).Let me tell you - the PASTA DOES NOT disappoint.Let's start from the beginning - I was greeted and led to my accommodation.I had read the menu ahead of time so I was well-versed on what to get (otherwise, I would take two days to order? lol but that's a ME problem).I started with the Battuta di Carne (aka steak tartare) made with 100% grass-fed Wagyu beef.MIND you - this is NOT for the faint of heart. It IS raw meat. FYI - IT IS simply prepared and SIMPLY - AMAZING. So - if you like sushi lol you can eat this… that tells you to - GO FOR IT.Next, I went with the “special” TRUFFLE pasta of the day - it was OUTSTANDING. Look - European countries make food sans SO many terrible ingredients the FDA had approved here and LET ME TELL YOU - it SHOWS. I ate a FULL plate of PASTA and… HAD ROOM FOR DESSERT. Like - AMPLE room because it was all so LIGHT and air-y.PS - I HAVE dined in actual Italia - so it tracks.I was excited to try their tiramisu.I was pleasantly surprised. It differed slightly from the tiramisu I am used to - but by no means did it disappoint. It had a more “cake-y”/ice cream-y feel, but the flavors were spot on.Apparently, the style of THIS tiramisu mirrors a specific hotel in Rome based on the Uovo owner's taste. They allowed him to offer their recipe HERE! Amazing! My server was Caleb (and he did a great job of explaining the Battuta di Carne btw) was great. Attentive but not intrusive. As it happens, I already knew what the battuta di carne was, however, others would not have been shocked once they receive their meal as he did a wonderful job of expaining it to them prior.Sadly, an area of their kitchen was out of commission so I was unable to try the side of mushrooms which I had so looked forward to, however, it is just an excuse to go back.I did had a chance to connect with the AGM, Dina, and she and her team, were giving what I observed to be stellar service (to myself and everyone) while I was there. If you're looking for a nice place to dine in Pasadena for br/lunch/dinner - Please - give it a try.Thee ONLY “less than stellar” feedback I would give is… TURN UP THE MUSIC! LolIt was soooooo low - the vibe of the whole place may have been a little different. Other than that - I'll be BACK!Thank you so much! Thank you - Thank you - THANK YOU!!
