Chicken Pho Ga 88 Noodles Soup & Rice
1719 Decoto Rd, Union City, CA 94587, United States
Pho Ga broth is light and refreshing, not as herby as I would like but still pretty decent. The second bowl was Horfun with fried chicken leg on the side. For the fried chicken leg be prepared to wait as they make it fresh. It was really hot and juicy when it came out freshly fried. I'd recommend letting it sit for about 5 min or so and let the noodles soak in the broth more before digging in!

This was our first time coming here, and we are so glad we did. The restaurant is pretty small has maybe 7-8 tables but the moment we walked in it smelled so so good. The menu is small as well but everything we got was so delicious. The Kimchi is one of my boyfriends favorites, and I absolutely loved the Galbi-Jjim so much that I wanted to get another order. They can even adjust the spiciness for the Galbi-Jjim and they torched the cheese when it got to the table. The restaurant staff was so sweet and attentive. They even helped pack our leftovers into to-go containers. You can tell they really love doing what they do.Note they do close between 2:30pm - 4:30pm each day for a break which they completely deserve !Please try this place, even if youre not a huge fan of spicy or Korean food, as they have plenty of options. We will definitely be back soon and will bring friends !
Baldies Cafe

I order from here every other week and never usually have a problem. After picking up my order I got to my car and checked my order before driving away. My order was wrong. I went back inside to correct it and one of the servers told me “For one, you're not holding it right, the food is going to fall.” The way she worded this and her tone was rude. I went to pick up this order with my toddler, left thinking that everything would be right, then had to come back inside for THEIR mistake, and instead of immediately apologizing she had to make a comment about the way I was holding my to go container? When I told her her comment was unnecessary she didn't apologize and neither did the owner when I explained it to him. In fact, he laughed and said he didn't know what to say. I expected a sincere apology but unfortunately didn't get that. I don't know what customer service is coming to these days, but I'm disappointed that I didn't receive good service this time. Customers are who are giving these servers and workers a pay check. Therefore we should be treated kindly and respectfully. Certain things do not need to be said, or this server could at least have worded things differently, acknowledging their mistake or messing up my order instead of making a comment about the way I was holding my food container.

I was craving some freshly made banh cuon and this place was the only place near the San Leandro, Hayward, Union City area that I knew had it. I went on a superbowl Sunday lunch hour and had to wait 20 min in a line that stretched past 2 more businesses. Everyone was good at sticking to the 6ft social distancing rule even without the presence of floor markings and didnt block the other stores entrances. They only allow one person ordering in the store at a time and everyone waits outside for their order. It was by no means a quick pick up and go situation as I had to wait another 20 min to get my food. Even those that just ordered 1 sandwich waited the same amount of time. Not sure if this is normal or just because they had a lot of catering orders that day. I ordered 2 #6 special combo which was $5 each and one platter of their banh cuon ($7.25 each for 8 rolls). I wanted to get their banh beo but they only offer those on Saturdays. The banh mi was nicely packed with enough protein in a light and soft roll. Their banh cuon was warm and silky smooth. Super happy with both things and cant wait to be back for more! Others customers suggested to call ahead to pick up as you get to cut the line that way - good to know for next time! Remember theyre a cash only business!

I wish I could give more stars.Yesterday, I came in to buy a bottle of water. The owner couldve let me pay $2 for a bottle of water, but he pointed the water container out to me and allowed me to have free water. Hes an honest, kind man who deserves the best in life. I came back today and bought a regular sized Earl Grey milk tea. It was ready in about two minutes and intensely Earl Grey flavored. I highly recommend this cafe. When I walked by earlier, almost all the seats outside were occupied. This was in the middle of the afternoon. Thats how you know a place is great without even going in.
Daiso Japan
1785 Decoto Rd, Union City, CA 94587, United States
Next to Din Ding dumpling house, Daiso in Union City is One of larger stores in the Daiso chain. The store is well stocked with an assortment of household goods with Japanese branding. Most items are manufactured in China....to no ones surprise. Probably 90% of the items are $1.75. Some are more expensive. They have a good selection of cheap but functional kitchenware and other things you might need around the house. The items they sell arent meant to be durable but at $1.75 one would not expect them to be.Following Japanese product design philosophy, items are cute and functional. In comparison I wouldnt call similar items at IKEA cute. The store itself is a little on the dim and drab side due to insufficient lighting. They took over an old drug store and kept the lighting.
Tadamasa Ramen

For my sons 20th birthday, he always gets to pick some place to go eat. Typically, he chooses a ramen restaurant. I like to take him to places that hes never been and on this occasion we decided to go for a local ramen shop. Classics being a bit farther out on a weekday after traffic hours, I thought this would be a good option because if you really liked it could be a go-to place that would be easy to access. The shop is located in Union City in the corner of a small strip mall shopping area. When we arrived we walked up to the door which was barricaded below the waist and on looking inside. That was some one sitting by the register in the back reading a paper. The lights were off and no neon signs were on so I called out to the fellow to see if they were open. At first he looked up and a. Surprised but he came over and removed the barriers and let us in and seated us. This space is very small. Id find it hard to believe that they can see more than 20 or so patrons at a time at the most and it is not a refined environment. In terms of visual presentation. Thats fine by me, but isnt something I typically see for ramen shops. I think the presentation of a ramen shop is part of what creates the experience for the ramen experience in general. For myself I ordered the spiciest item I could find on the menu, as I typically do in any ramen shop. In this case it was a pork broth with the typical trimmings of egg, pork slices, ramen broth, etc. I also asked them to kick the spice up to their highest level because I like my lips to tingle and am a fire eater. If you are a fire eater as well, I dont think this level of heat that theyre able to provide will be satisfying enough for you. My taste buds said to me that the broth was on the salty side. And as a result, I was unable to finish drinking all the soup. This is uncommon for me as I tend to not leave anything behind when I eat out. This only really happens when there is either too much volume or there is something that doesnt work for me in the flavor. In this case it was the latter. Now, I dont want this to infer that this place isnt good, but my particular experience wasnt one that is going to bring me quickly back. I dont think Id avoid coming here but I would return with a cautious intent to try another menu item. My wife agreed with me on the salty nature of the soup, but my kids who ordered the same item as I did seemed to be satisfied with the flavor, but indicated that ordering extra noodles made it too much volume. Noting that a small line of patrons had formed outside waiting to get a table, this tends to be a good sign that a place is well liked or loved, but as mentioned previously in this review, this could also be the result of there not being many ramen options in the area, and/or a result of there just not being many tables available to seat more patrons all at once. Now, but I recommend the spot if youre craving ramen? I do think it will work out even though my experience was not as good as I hoped it would be, but I think this may be a result of my ramen palate and I wouldnt use it to pass any negative judgment on this establishment. At the same time I do think there are better ramen experiences out there and I will continue to experiment with other local ramen experiences to see if I cant find a go-to that works better for me.

Very friendly staff, helped pick our food and make choices that were cheaper than what we were about to go.Got the Ala ramen. Level 3 spicy. It was decent, the meat quality could be better. The noodles were good. It was not crazy spicy either.Overall I enjoyed the place, shopping nearby as well.

The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza.+ The restaurant was clean looking, and the plates that the hotpot items were brought on were clean as well.+ Prompt and attentive service. Hosts and hostesses were very informative about menu items.+ The broth is good: a bit salty for my tastes, but every one else in the group seemed to like it.+ Large selection of meat, vegetables, and noodles to customize your hotpot with.CON:- There may be a wait depending on when you arrive.- It can get very pricey if you decide to order individual items.- There is only one option available for vegetable broth.- Dipping sauces cost $0.50 extra for each serving.

Okayyyy lezz talk about DDDH. Bc omg, this was a totally new discovery to me. My east bay buds have been raving about it for a while (that it's the BETTER version of DTF), but I didn't get a chance to try it out until this past wkend for Mother's Day.First of all, Mother's Day is an aggressively busy day for any Chinese restaurant in general. But I've heard that DDDH is busy on any other day too. Insider secret (that apparently no one else knew except our group) is that you can make ressies. I didn't make it, so I'm not 100% sure what the criteria is for making one...but thank god we did! The line was literally out the door, around the corner, and then some. Honestly, I was feeling real bad for all those ppl that would be hitting the second wave. And there were plenty of them!Let's start with service. There wasn't any. No lie, we were basically servicing ourselves. Like my cousin had to go to the front and grab five extra table settings and was nearly barked at by the staff bc they said they didn't have any extra settings. We weren't asking for EXTRA settings. We were asking for one per person...odd. Also, we couldn't get a single wait staff for the life of us, but man, let me tell you how FIVE of them came swarming as soon as our bill was set to get us the f out. Hahaha I hadn't seen a single wait staff prior to that.Per usual with my fam, we ordered WAYYYY too much. Even with our group of ten. As the 15th item came out from the kitchen, it was starting to feel like we literally ordered the entire menu...which we likely may have ordered 1-2 items per category. ALSO, bc my fam has no chill, we started with our dessert first (brought our own Mother's Day cheesecake) bc we thought the food would take a while to come out. It didn't. Haha soooo we were SUPER full by the time only half of the food arrived!BUT let's talk about the food foreal. Seriously, DTF ain't got nothing on DDDH. Portions are MASSIVE. Plenty of veggie and pescatarian options for my fellow seafood lovers out there. The fish was my fav. And the green veggie one was meh. Could've skipped it. The spicy fish cabbage noodle soup was packed with tons of diff flavors and packed a delicious punch. Noodles were al dente. Mm mmm. And lastly, while the piggy buns were cute for the insta, they were a bit pricy for basic buns. Prob wouldn't opt for that dish again.Would I come again? Yeah, probably. BUT set your service expectations WAY WAYYY low. Like almost non existent. 4 starsHappy dumplin'
