Shanghailander Palace
1440 S Baldwin Ave, Arcadia, CA 91007, United States
I came here recently with my family and we all really enjoyed it!Backstory is that my mom works at another Shanghainese restaurant in the area and a lot of her customers told her that they also frequent this place so we decided to give it a try. Were a Cantonese family and typically frequent the same HK cafes and Cantonese Chinese restaurants in the area for dinner. Dinner is always reliably good, but it gets a little old after awhile.Im really glad we came for dinner. We got the braised pork belly, Shanghai-style spare ribs, snow pea leaves, wined chicken, and pan fried buns. If youre a fan of pork belly... oh boy was the braised pork belly good. It easily made my dinner & I couldve eaten the whole pot myself. Unfortunately, there were other people at dinner too so I had to stop at 4 pieces. Snow pea leaves were good. We also enjoyed the spare ribs, though I think my dad makes it better at home. Wined chicken tasted a little too much like alcohol for my liking (but cmon, its WINED chicken). Pan fired buns were mediocre -- would not order again.Service was a little slow at times and the restaurant is a little crammed, but I would 100% come back again.

Diminished Delight: Undercooked Xiao Long Bao Disappoints at Din Tai Fung, Arcadia, CAMy recent visit to Din Tai Fung in Arcadia, CA, once a cherished dining destination, unfortunately fell short of expectations, primarily due to a critical flaw: undercooked Xiao Long Bao.As a connoisseur of Taiwanese cuisine with four decades spent in Taiwan and a history of frequenting Din Tai Fung establishments, encountering undercooked Xiao Long Bao was deeply disappointing. Despite my familiarity with this renowned dish, the dumplings served were unmistakably underprepared, an unexpected deviation from the perfected craftsmanship typically associated with Din Tai Fung.Despite several attempts to address this concern with the attentive staff and managerial interventions – which I genuinely appreciated – the issue persisted. This oversight in the preparation of their signature dish raised significant doubts about the kitchens attention to detail and adherence to traditional cooking methods. The art of preparing Xiao Long Bao, with its delicate balance of flavors and perfectly cooked filling, is integral to the Din Tai Fung experience. However, the undercooked state of this iconic dish not only compromised its taste but also challenged the restaurants commitment to preserving the authenticity of Taiwanese culinary heritage.I sincerely implore Din Tai Fungs management and headquarters to give urgent attention to this matter. Ensuring the proper preparation and quality of their signature Xiao Long Bao across all branches, including the Arcadia location, is essential for retaining the trust and loyalty of patrons who seek the genuine flavors of Taiwanese cuisine. It is my fervent hope that Din Tai Fung rectifies this issue promptly, guaranteeing that undercooked Xiao Long Bao never eclipses the exceptional dining experience they are renowned for. This will allow patrons, both local and international, to savor the true essence of Taiwanese gastronomy at its finest.

Dings Garden
733 W Naomi Ave, Arcadia, CA 91007, United States
Update:Whenever we think of Shanghai food, we would come to Dongs garden. Havent been here since the pandemic. My wife wanted to have Shanghai fried soup dumpling and we came here to order a take-out today. The soup dumpling was so fluffy and juicy. The bottom of the bun skin was crispy that made the eating of the bun a pleasant culinary experience. I love this type of buns. When I visited Shanghai few years ago, I went out to the street and looked for the buns every morning for breakfast. Cant get enough of them. The restaurant also provide other very authentic Shanghainese dishes here. Their famous dishes include the beef jerky mixed with pigs ear and fried tofu, pan fried rice cake with pork, wonton soup and beef noodles. Everything time I come here before the pandemic, I have to wait for a bit before got seated. They are popular. They have a few branches throughout Southern California.End of updatesThis restaurant establishment has several branches in the San Gabriel valley and in Rowlandheights. If you like Shnaghai food, this is the place for you. The owner was a very famous shanghai opera singer and had her own albums. Opening this restaurant chain is her passion for SHANGHAI food. So it shows in their dishes. I can really tell they’d put in a lot of efforts in keeping the original taste of SHANGHAI in their food. Their 炒年糕is probably one of best in this town. The taste is very close to what I had in Shanghai. Another popular dish here is their pork chop and vegetable fried rice. The noodle dishes are very popular as well. I particularly like their beef noodle with soup. I will be back to try more dishes.

Good service and excellent Shanghainese cuisine. Reasonable price and lots of dishes to choose from. Stay for the desert as well. Restaurant is located on 210 Freeway exit on Balwin Avenue past Santa Anita Race course so expect conjested traffic on race day. Make a left on Duarte and another left into the shopping mall.

Lanzhou Beef Noodle
411 E Huntington Dr Suite 102, Arcadia, CA 91006, United States
Love the shirts they have!! “Send Noods.” Come for their signature LAN noodle... especially if youre used to eating typical beef noodle soups. This will taste slightly different and still satisfy your cravings.Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 -Signature LAN with wide flat noodles at medium spice. Pretty good with a kick and the beef slices cooked just right. The cube pieces of meat were a bit dry though. Flat noodles didn't absorb the broth as well so wouldn't recommend.Lanzhou street noodle with the triangle shape noodle at medium spicy. The peanut butter came through really strong and the flavored peas adds some nice texture. This is definitely a more acquired taste. The triangle shape noodles absorb more taste so it was great.Chicken gizzard (cold appetizer) had too much five spices on top that covered the taste of the gizzards itself. The spices make the texture chalkyAmbience: 3/5 - bright clean shop with description of the different types of noodles on the wall. The audio from the TV was poor quality and doesn't quite fit in with the feel of the shop. They didnt have stand alone speakers so the music would peak alot. There were chairs piled up in the corner as you walked in that felt cluttered. Much kudos to the lad pulling and making noodles the entire time. As the shop got busier, he was cooking and organizing the noodle orders too. Very interesting to just watch him make the different shape of noodles. He did not touch his face even once while we were there. Very professional.Service: 5/5 - polite and very quick service. Will ask (if applicable) spice level and noodle type. Think they speak Mandarin mostly but we were able to order in English with no issuesValue for price: 4/5 - nice to see fresh made noodles from scratch and can understand why it's more expensive. While wouldn't come here all the time, definitely worth a try at least!

Auntie Qiu Kitchen
1236 S Golden W Ave, Arcadia, CA 91007, United States
Thought it would just be a quick bite of Shanghai Pork Ribs Glutinous Rice Cakes, but flipping through the menu felt like a trip back to Shanghai—each dish a deep-rooted memory!Even so, we went all out and ordered a bunch of dishes. Each one was authentically Shanghai, and I especially recommend the Wine Chicken. Honestly, wanted to try everything on the menu. The Pork Ribs Glutinous Rice Cakes, originally the main attraction, took a back seat. Auntie even brought spicy soy sauce and hot chili powder from Shanghai—selling the sauce for $6 a bottle. The chili powder isnt for sale, but shell give it to you. Added a new item to the wishlist: Conquer their entire menu!
