Is there good cooking here? Well, its certainly possible. Theres been times whereve thought it was pleasant enough. But the truth of the matter is, Mountain View has always been a dead spot for good Chinese cooking, and if you need proof, just walk down Castro street.Dumpling Garden is a restaurant where there are moments. Moments where the food is fine, especially as they are comparatively more affordable compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area.The issue is primarily in the lack of consistency and the clear evidence of skimping. If you order the pan fried dumpling, youll find yourself biting into the air as only 1/3 - 1/5 of the dumpling has any protein stuffing. If you order take out soup dumplings, theyll conveniently forget the vinegar and chili or the chopsticks. The Thai tea will taste of 25% sugar and taste muted.Off memory, in the last 6 months, you will more often come across at least one notable issue that diminishes the flavor of the meal. It never feels like theres intent to make the food taste poorly, but there is a feeling of nickel and dime-ing.Maybe the dine-in experience is better, but the take-out leaves much to be desired.

Having a family reunion in SF for three days Couldnt get to Chinatown, and have never had Dim Sum. It was a phenomenal first time experience. I really liked the fried shrimp balls, although there were shredded wonton paper flakes, which were yummy but sharp if taken in smaller bites. There was an overwhelming amount of food our party of 7, but we managed to finish almost everything. We had egg noodles and egg fried rice, which was the best rice dish Ive ever eaten. My brother in law said that it was almost on par with Chinatowns Dim Sum, so I feel like if youre a tourist like us, and decided to cut Chinatown, then you should go here, definitely.They got us in and out quickly, and got us our food in now time at all.Nice perks we recieved:Complimentary Jasmine Tea (drink it right away, it tastes better mild imo)Our waitress was smart and saved us a little bit of money, because she told us that having two plates of rice would probably be too much (which it was).We split the checks, so we got enough food for 7 American adults for roughly $25 per head, before tips. A much better service experience than the place we went to at Fishermans wharf, which was twice the price.Good at explaining things to us newbies.Wonderful bathrooms.My one complaint was that after we recieved all of our food, they left us alone, and I had to get a waitress attention to get some water. The food was very rich, so I needed a bit of a top up. However, other than that, perfect service. If you cut Chinatown on your vacation, but want Dim Sum with nice, large appetizers, Go here!!!
